A Two-Stage Heuristic for Disassembly Scheduling with Capacity Constraints

  • Disassembly scheduling is the problem of determining the quantity and timing of disassembling used or end-of-life products while satisfying the demand of their parts and/or components over a planning horizon. The case of assembly product structure is considered while the resource capacity constraints are explicitly considered. A cost-based objective is considered that minimizes the sum of disassembly operation and inventory holding costs. The problem is formulated as an integer programming model, and a two-stage heuristic with construction and improvement algorithms is suggested in this paper. To test the performance of the heuristic, computational experiments are done on randomly generated problems, and the results show that the heuristic gives near optimal solutions within a very short amount of computation time.

  • This paper describes a fuzzy system designed to support production planning in an industrial unit producing cardboard boxes. In this industrial unit orders for n boxes of width w, length l, height h, made of q layers of type k paper for delivery in t units of time are produced. In the production of such orders apart from meeting the orders specifications it is usually tried to minimize the margin trim loss the number of machine setups and the holding cost of the finished orders. Considering the dynamism of production systems that are influenced by such factors as market demand fluctuations changes in commercial priorities raw material availability and pro-ducation capabilities we solve this multi-objective problem by fuzzy set theory.

  • Containerization of cargo transportation has been norm in the word wide maritime services, but containerized trades are typically unbalanced in terms of the number of inbound and outbound containers. Therefore it is critical for shipping companies to find operating policy such as the repositioning of empty containers or replenishing of short-term leasing containers from leasing companies to satisfy the freighter's demands of containers. This paper develops a simulation model using ARENA to establish shipping company's operational policy to relocate and replenish empty containers. Furthermore, this study proposes simple and heuristic empty container repositioning rules to minimize the relevant cost in terms of leasing, repositioning, and inventory holding costs.

  • In Korean Power Market, Cost-based Bidding Pool is maintaining the present condition because restructuring of electricity industry is holding. When this market is designed, Settlement rules for Pumped-storage power plant made unfairly by other power plants. These rules were considered contribution of Pumped-storage power plant to network operation. by the way, there are some discussion about Settlement rules modification. so in this paper, we calculated financial effect of power plant by modified rules. And when we modify market rules, we can offer numerical information.

  • Injection molding process is one of the most important methods to produce plastic parts with high efficiency and low cost. The objective of this study is to implement the best plastic injection molding process for LED TV speaker frame. Moldflow analysis and simulation of plastic injection molding process were carried out in order to predict optimal modeling operation conditions and then injection molded part was produced various type of resin temperature, filling time and injection pressure variation. the result was that the best injection molding condition is set as 60bar pressure, 2sec filling time and $310^{\circ}C$ degree. The study result would be useful to variety of plastic injection molding process.

  • This paper analyzes a dynamic lot-sizing problem, in which the order size of multiple products and a single container type are simultaneously considered. In the problem, each order (product) placed in a period is immediately shipped immediately by containers in the period and the total freight cost is proportional to the number of each container type employed. Also, it is assumed that backlogging is not allowed. The objective of this study is to determine the lot-sizes and the shipping policy that minimizes the total costs, which consist of ordering costs, inventory holding costs, and freight costs. Because this problem is NP-hard, we propose a heuristic algorithm with an adjustment mechanism, based on the optimal solution properties. The computational results from a set of simulation experiment are also presented.

  • Managing multi-echelon inventory systems has gained importance over the last decade mainly because integrated control of supply chains consisting of several processing and distribution stages has become feasible through modern information technology. Determination of optimal inventory policy for multi-echelon supply chain is made difficult by the complex interaction between the different levels. In this paper, we investigate performance of five inventory policies (fixed quantity order policy, fixed interval order policy, compromised order policy, lead time-fixed quantity order policy, and mixed order policy) in a multi-echelon supply chain by using a simulation model constructed with AweSim simulation language. The results of the simulation study show that the mixed order policy is the best among five inventory policies in the most test problems except the case when the stockout cost per unit is much higher than the inventory holding and transportation costs per unit.

  • Economic Lot size decision is studied on this thesis foe the muti-product small batch production system. Even though economic lot size decision has been studied for the MRP system. this could be applied at the industry under the multi-product small batch production system because of very complicate and manager's lack of understand. Therefore, this technique is applied at the industry in order to minimize ordering cosy based on optimal quantity and period, and holding cost according to optimize inventory level under the muti-product small batch production system.   • Based on solid phase extraction, gas chromatography and mass spectrometry procedure for determining phenol and its derivatives in natural water was presented. In solid phase extraction, three types of techniques using solid phase adsorption material were treated with acid and salt, and converted second portion of acetyl derivatives. Under the these condition, extraction efficiency and detection ability dependent on extraction methods were discussed. Obtained results using optimized solid phase extraction techniques showed more convenience, simplifier and lower cost than the conventional analytical methods with holding wide dynamic range and lower detection limits.

  • This paper presents a general algorithm of multi-item continuous review models to obtain simultaneous solutions for ordering quantities and reorder points for each item in an inventory, while satisfying constraints on average inventory investment and reordering workload. Two models are formulated'in each model the heuristic method is utilized, and the partial back-logging is considered. In the first model, the objective function is the minimization of total inventory variable cost. In the second model, the objective function is the minimization of total time-weighted shortages, and the ordering, holding, and stockout costs in this model are independent each other. A numerical example is also solved to present application of each model.
