Because of a new seismic design code has been enacted in 2023, there is a need to evaluate whether the road tunnels in operation satisfies the requirements of the new code. Four tunnels that are considered to be most susceptible to damage. Time history analyses are performed to quantify their seismic performances. The input ground motions generated to fit both 2007 and 2023 codes are used to evaluate the effect of the motions on the calculated responses. The analyses show that all tunnels perform favorably and satisfies the requirements successfully. Therefore, retrofit or reinforcement are deemed as unnecessary.

The intraclass correlation model has a long history of applications in several fields of research. Case deletion diagnostic methods for the intraclass correlation model are proposed. Based on the likelihood equations, we derive a formula for a case deletion diagnostic method which enables us to investigate the influence of observations on the maximum likelihood estimates of the model parameters. Using the Taylor series expansion we develop an approximation to the likelihood distance. Numerical examples are provided for illustration.

Two species new for Korea, Scolopocryptops nigrimaculatus Song, Song and Zhu, 2004 and Scolopocryptops mushashiensis Shinohara, 1984 are reported from South Korea. The Korean occurrance of S. nigrimaculatus is the first record of the species outside China, while S. mushashiensis has been known only form its type locality in Japan till now.

This paper presents a precise and stable time integration method for dynamic analysis of vibration or multibody systems. A total system is divided into several subsystems and their responses are calculated separately, while the coupling effect is treated equivalently as constant force during time steps. By using iterative procedure to improve equivalent coupling forces, a precise and stable solution is obtained. Some examples such as a seismic response and multibody analyses were carried out to demonstrate its usefulness.

The study on Shilla monumental inscription has beer accomplished by many historians. However, the research on enhancement of monumental inscription image using digital image processing technique is not sufficient. The preprocessing using computer is needed fur accurate interpretation of history. In this paper, digital image enhancement algorithm based on mathematical morphology for noise reduction and character clearness is proposed. In the experiment, the subjective image quality is improved using the proposed algorithm.

In the study of library history in our country, the history of the Koryo Dynasty is very important. The Pisosong, the first library to be operated by the government, was founded in 995 .A. D. Although research about the Pisosong indicated that it was located outside the palace the author felt that further investigation was needed. Might not the library be located inside the palace\ulcorner For this reason, this study examined 1) the historical background of the Pisosong, 2) changes in its structure and organization, 3) its organization and personnel, 4) its function and, 5) its relation to the Pigak and the Osowon. The findings of this study may be summarized as follows: 1) Pisosong was changed and reorganized 15 times by the end of the Koryo Dynasty. 2) Its functions were keeping official documents and books, buying, exchanging, publishing, editing, revising books, writing official documents for the king and, as a place to discuss ideas and sometimes to deliver lectures to the king. 3) Osowon was another institute which was equivalent in its function and role to the Pisosong. 4) The Pisosong was in all probability located inside the palace because there were very important books in it. It is assumed that its location should be a secure place. Also this would enable the library to be managed more conveniently. 5) The Pigak in the Koryo Dynasty must have been located inside the palace as the Piko in the Sung Dynasty in China was.

In this study I divided the development history of educational serious games into three periods. from 1995 to 2020 in Korea. I drew out some characteristics of each period. And I analyzed the correlation between the level of technology and learning effects or fun. so I found out some results. According to my analysis, the level of technology and learning effects and fun are not related to successful factors. While play style which is familiar and accessible to students like casual game has been commercially successful. It also confirmed that well-balanced games between fun and learning effects are a key factor in commercial success.

Scandinavian design has special meaning in design history. Especially the Swedish designers have developed elegant and humane design style by combining the functionalism originated in Germany in the beginning of 20th century with their own crafts tradition. Now 'Swedish Modern' or 'Swedish Grace' is regarded as the most preferrable style for modern industrial society. American design as well as European design has been much changed under the influence of this democratic, simple and beautiful style. To find out the essential qualities of Swedish design style, I want to investigate the history of modern Swedish design and the design mechanism in Swedish corporates. Also I want to introduce the design education system in Sweden, which has contributed to developing contemporary Swedish design philosophy.

In this article, the author introduces the paradigm shift in archival studies that occurs in north America. Although the dominant paradigm in the archival studies-the positivism paradigm-greatly contributed to build modern archives in Europe and north America, during last decades, new ideas and technologies led the archival communities to re-identify their social roles and powers and to adopt new values of archives and archivist. This essay argues that this changes is essential to our future and we understand the nature of the changes from the broader interdisciplinary perspective of archives studies, information studies, and history.

Three-dimensional dynamic analyses of underground openings subjected to explosive loadings are carried out. Dynamic analyses consist of two steps; one-dimensional source calculation and three-dimensional tunnel analysis. One-dimensional source calculation includes explosive charge and the free field surrounding rock. The input pressure time history for three-dimensional tunnel analysis is obtained from the companion one-dimensional source calculation. The computer program MPDAP-3D incorporated this analysis capability. It is shown that the computer program is a useful tool for the analysis of the structural safety evaluation of underground openings during construction by drill and blasting method.
