This study describes the developmental process of gonads in chameleon goby, Tridentiger trigonocephalus from the stage of hatching to 100 days after hatching (DAH). Based on histological observation, the primordial germ cells were observed in mesentery between mesonephric duct and gut at 15 DAH (total length, TL: $6.8{\pm}0.2mm$). At 20 DAH (TL: $7.9{\pm}0.1mm$), the primordial gonad began to protrude into peritoneal cavity and developed between mesonephric duct and gut. Initial ovarian differentiation was identified by the presence of ovarian cavity and oogonia in the gonads at 55 DAH (TL: $21.1{\pm}1.3mm$). Testicular differentiation started at 65 DAH (TL: $23.7{\pm}0.9mm$) with appearance of spermatogonial cells in the gonads. These findings indicate that sex differentiation in T. trigonocephalus occurs earlier in females than males, suggesting that this species can be classified as an undifferentiated gonochorist.
The papillary tubercles (PTs) developed on the splenic capsule of normal Landrace pigs were collected and their histological structures were observed with light microscope. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The external features of the PTs were smooth spherical or oval form protruded on the splenic capsules. On cross section of PTs, the shapes were predominantly round or elliptical single follicular form, and were often multifollicular and irregular form in some PTs. 2. The PTs were interposed into the splenic capsule. Therefore the peripheral boundary of PT was consisted of splenic capsular tissue and this tissue was covered with mesothelium, The basal tissues of PT were consisted of thick connective tissue and smooth muscle of splenic capsule, and capsular foramen for transport tract between splenic parenchyma and the PT was found at the center of the basal boundary of PT. 3. The basal region of PT was composed of parenchyma and this tissue was the splenic red pulp but the central and peripheral regions of PT contained much more erythrocytes than in the splenic parenchymae. 4. The splenic parenchymae adjoining to PT contained more erythrocytes than in other splenic parenchymal regions and parallel fixed cells directed to the capsular foramen.
This study investigated survival rate, osmorality, respiration, excretion and histological response with change of salinity in the abalone, Haliotis discus hannai at $24{\pm}1^{\circ}C$. Survival rate was 100% at 37.0 psu whereas all died after 6 days at 19.8 psu and within 24 hours at 12.8 psu, respectively. The 7-day median lethal limit (7day-$LS_{50}$) was 20.1-28.2 psu with confidence limits of 20.1-28.2 psu. Respiration rate in low salinity groups was lower than control group, but ammonia excretion rate was more increased in comparison to control group. Osmorality was acclimated within 1 hour at above of 26.8 psu but others could not acclimated at each experimental salinity. Histological observation of foot muscle showed hemolymph sinus distension, epidermal destruction and increased infiltration of phagocytes.

Rice straw is an important roughage resource for ruminants in many rice-producing countries. In this study, a rice brittle mutant (BM, mutation in OsCesA4, encoding cellulose synthase) and its wild type (WT) were employed to investigate the effects of a cellulose synthase gene mutation on rice straw morphological fractions, chemical composition, stem histological structure and in situ digestibility. The morphological fractions investigation showed that BM had a higher leaf sheath proportion (43.70% vs 38.21%, p<0.01) and a lower leaf blade proportion (25.21% vs 32.14%, p<0.01) than WT. Chemical composition analysis showed that BM rice straw was significantly (p<0.01) higher in CP (crude protein), hemicellulose and acid insoluble ash (AIA) contents, but lower in dry matter (DM), acid detergent fiber (ADFom) and cellulose contents when compared to WT. No significant difference (p>0.05) was detected in neutral detergent fiber (NDFom) and ADL contents for both strains. Histological structure observation indicated that BM stems had fewer sclerenchyma cells and a thinner sclerenchyma cell wall than WT. The results of in situ digestion showed that BM had higher DM, NDFom, cellulose and hemicellulose disappearance at 24 or 48 h of incubation (p<0.05). The effective digestibility of BM rice straw DM and NDFom was greater than that of WT (31.4% vs 26.7% for DM, 29.1% vs 24.3% for NDFom, p<0.05), but the rate of digestion of the slowly digested fraction of BM rice straw DM and NDF was decreased. These results indicated that the mutation in the cellulose synthase gene could improve the nutritive value of rice straw for ruminants.
In order to investigate experimentally that Bovis Calculus, Ursi Feli Aqua-acupuncture(BUA) have an effect on Adjuvant Arthritis in rats, the author inserted BUA at points corresponding with Chok-samni(ST36) and T'aegye(KI3), and observed an inhibitory rate of edema and pain, variations of White blood cell(WBC), Red blood cell(RBC), Hemoglobin(Hb) in blood. The author also observed the histological changes of joint tissue. The results were as follows : 1. The BUA group during the 6th and 9th were decreased with statistical significance in inhibitory rate of paw edema as compared with the control group. 2. The BUA group during the 3rd and 9th day were decreased with statistical significance in inhibitory rate of pain as compared with the control group. 3. The BUA group during the 3rd, 6th and 9th day were decreased with statistical significance in blood WBC as compared with the control group. The blood RBC and Hb didn't have statistical significance. 4. According to the histological studies, the synovial cells were necrotized at the 3rd, 6th and 9th day control group, but some synovial cells were necrotized at the 3rd day BUA group. The synovial cells of the the 6th and 9th day BUA group were recovered more than that of the 3th day group.
The effects of both hyperthermia alone and X-ray irradiation combined with hyperthermia on rat testis have been investigated. The histological changes were observed on 15 and 30 days after treatment. There was no histological change of rat testis by hyperthermia alone. The earliest change by X-ray irradiation was the degeneration of the spermatogonia of the seminiferous tubule, which was appeared in 2 Gy group. Necrosis of the spermatogonia was severe in 6 Gy group and complete atrophy was developed in 8 Gy group. With increased dose of radiation, the degree of changes of tubules was increased. In combined group of X-ray irradiation and hyperthermia, the histological change of the seminiferous tubule was more severe than X-ray alone group. Necrosis and atrophy of the spermatogonia were appeared in 2 Gy and complete atrophy of spermatogonia was seen in 6 Gy group. Thermal enhancement ratio (calculated at the complete atrophy of the spermatogonia) was 1.3 in this experiment. There was no difference in observation time inverval between 15 and 30 days after each treatment in all groups.
This study is for the consideration of the existence tendency of Kudoa septempunctata in olive flounder. In general, muscle has shown a strong PCR positive reaction in spores containing tissues rather than non-containing tissues. However, blood PCR results showed opposed tendency. In various organs of the tested fish containing spores in muscle tissue, heart had shown positive reaction along with muscle at PCR analysis. Muscle fiber necrosis was observed at the histological observation, and this degeneration was common in both samples. The one sample was the PCR positive muscle containing spore and the other was the PCR positive muscle non-containing spore. Both of muscle tissues indicated a positive reaction at ISH (in-situ hybridization) against K. septempunctata.
Background and Objectives Skin aging is reportedly associated with regulation in collagen and elastin synthesis. This study investigated the potential of combining light-emitting diode (LED) treatments using a 630-nm and 850-nm LED with simultaneous microcurrent application. Materials and Methods The dorsal skin of female pigs was treated with a home-use device. We examined the treatment effects using photography, thermocamera, microscopic pathology, and histological examination to determine the mechanism of action, efficacy, and safety of the procedure. A histological observation was performed using hematoxylin and eosin, Masson's trichrome, Victoria blue, and immunohistochemical staining. We also used the Sircol soluble collagen and elastin assay kit to measure the amounts of collagen and elastin in the porcine back skin tissue after 2 and 6 weeks. Results Evaluation by visual inspection and devices showed no skin damage or heat-induced injury at the treatment site. Histological staining revealed that accurate treatment of the targeted dermis layer effectively enhanced collagen and elastin deposition. Collagen type I, a protein defined by immunohistochemical staining, was overexpressed in the early stages of weeks 2 and 6. Combined therapy findings showed the superior capability of the 630-nm and 850-nm LED procedures to induce collagen; in contrast, elastin induction was more pronounced after microcurrent treatments. Conclusion The home-use LED device, comprising a combination of 630-nm and 850-nm LEDs and microcurrent, is safe and can be used as an adjunctive treatment for self-administered facial rejuvenation.
To investigate anti-cancer effects of wild ginseng herbal acupuncture and mitigation of anti-cancer drug when taken concurrently, cancer cells from B16/F10 melanoma were injected intraperitoneally in C57BL/6. After inducing cancer, anti-cancer effects and mitigation of reproductive toxicity of Doxorubicin were evaluated. 1. For changes in weight, Doxorubicin treated group showed significant decrease, and administration of wild ginseng herbal acupuncture didn't cause any weight change. 2. Volume of tumor was significantly reduced in Doxorubicin teated group. Wild ginseng herbal acupuncture groups showed slight decrease but insignificant compared to the control group. 3. For hematological evaluation, Doxorubicin only group's reticulocytes were significantly decreased compared to the control group, and Platelet Count was significantly increased. Wild ginseng herbal acupuncture group showed significant increase of Neutrophils and significant decrease of Lymphocytes compared to the control group. 4. For histological evaluation of the tumor, necrosis occurred in a wide range in the Doxorubicin treated group. Wild ginseng herbal acupuncture didn't cause much histological changes. 5. For histological evaluation of the testis, seminiferous tubules of the control group suffered severe damage on epithelial cells. When wild ginseng herbal acupuncture was administered concurrently, damage on the seminiferous tubules was significantly inhibited compared to the Doxorubicin only group. 6. Diameter of seminiferous tubules and spermatogonia count were insignificant between the experiment groups. 7. For BrdU positive reaction of testicle tissue, Doxorubicin only group failed to show any reaction of spermatogonia, but spermatocytes and spermatids showed slight positive reaction. When wild ginseng herbal acupuncture was treated concurrently, much greater positive reaction was made but similar to that of the control and normal groups. 8. For observation of changes in BrdU spermatogonia count of the testicle tissue, Doxorubicin only group didn't show any positive reaction, and relative increase was shown in the group with concurrent administration of wild ginseng herbal acupuncture. 9. For observation of TUNEL positive reaction cells of the testicle tissue, no significant changes were witnessed in all the experiment groups.
Observation of elastic fiber's change of mouse TMJ due to several round factor, principally external stimulations, their influence on the TMJ structure's change and the analize of the consecutive evolution of the disease in most important. So, the author believe that the factor of TMJ feature is the elastic feature's change and it's the principal factor of the TMJ disease. For observation of the increase and disposition of elastic fiber that to regulate the elastic feature of tissue and allow it existence. For this propose, observation with histologic methods on 20mouse ICR of 3 days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks. The results were as follow : 1. In the early stage, the condyle of TMJ is originated from cartilage mass, and it's calcification is endochondral. 2. In the early stage, the disc is relatively thin and immature, but in the later stage the fiber is dense and the disposition is most functional. 3. Observation of the early stage, the elastic fiber is a thin fiber that to across antero- posterior direction, but in the later stage elastic fiber are developed, the disposition that in the early stage was perpendicular to articular surface, now in parallel. 4. The elastic fiber was observated most clearly in the retrodiscal tissue. 5. In conclusion, the elastic fiber is observed like a thin fiber 1 week from born, but the fiber to increase the weight and it dispose functionally, and 4 week from born, it can realize the normal function.
