  • In this paper we present light weighted English-to-Korean and Korean-to-English mobile translators on smart phones. For natural translation and higher translation quality, translation engines are hybridized with Translation Memory (TM) and Rule-based translation engine. In order to maximize the usability of the system, we combined an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine and Text-to-Speech (TTS) engine as a Front-End and Back-end of the mobile translators. With the BLEU and NIST evaluation metrics, the experimental results show our E-K and K-E mobile translation equality reach 72.4% and 77.7% of Google translators, respectively. This shows the quality of our mobile translators almost reaches the that of server-based machine translation to show its commercial usefulness.

  • I made the three main estimated head about the facility of mechanical pencil which we always use in normal days. The head are these, the first is apparent usability by experiment, the second is the feeling when grasping, the third is the feeling when writing. After making the head, 1 selected the head which give the effect to the facility and make sure the interaction between heads by the method of actual test with 36 samples. After this test, 1 can find that there is no high interaction between the facility and the intuitively feeling by experiment. It's because the expectation which was made by experiment for the facility is higher than the real. but there is high interaction between the feeling of wearing and the feeling of writing. The mechanical pencil which has good facility is that the total length is long(169mm), the thickness is big($\Phi$8.5mm), the weight is little bit heavy(21.4g), the intersection is not circle, the surface where is hold by fingers has across grooves, and the body is glossy.

  • The purpose of this thesis is to investigate the application of a medical cure with a mixture of the merit of a hydrotherapy, as a kind of a physical therapy, and the remedy efficacy of mugwort, which uses in a chinese medical treatment in order to remove an unpleasant smell of HOT Pack and its tube to use in hospital. The usability of mugwort and the degree of its preference was obtained through question naires sent to 120 students including 50 students of the department of physical therapy. And the feeling, at the moment a HOT Pack Tube was opened, was investigated through 74-physical therapists. This research is to investigate the effect of the remedy to add a mugwort-pack in a HOT Pack tube using already in hospital. The results of this study are as following : The efficacy of a mugwort-pack to get rid of an unpleasant smell got better than that of a HOT Pack and its tube. As most of physical therapy laboratory lies to a basement of a hospital, the efficacy to remove a particular offensive smell of a basement got better than that of a HOT Pack using in a common hospital. Also, the degree of patients' preference on a HOT Pack to add with mugwort got to be higher and increased gradually. I can't see the definite difference of a medical remedy, but, I suppose that the visible feeling was of much help for the effect of patients's remedy.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the level of digital stress that people experience and to investigate the effects of socio-economic variables on that. To collect data, structured questionnaire was developed and 1,200 questionnaires were distributed through internet. There were 2 dimensions in this study to examine digital stress. First dimension was about the devices themselves: computers and the other digital goods. Second dimension was about the time digital stress occurring in consumers' decision-making process: purchasing and using. Based on Yeo&Kim(2004), sub-dimensions of purchasing and using aspects were chosen. 5 sub-dimensions in purchasing side were new technology, cost, variety of alternatives, warranty service, and informational problem 6 sub-dimensions in using field were mal(or impaired)-functioning. physical aspects, immaturity in use, pressure to use, addiction to use, and informational problem. As independent variables, sex, age, educational level, digitalization acceptability and computer usability were used. The overall level of digital stress was around the average point which was not as high as expected. Digital stress of purchasing was higher than that of using. First, in purchasing aspects, the level of digital stress was relatively high in cost, variety of alternatives and warranty service. Hence, clear communications with consumers about the distinctive aspects and cost of digital devices in market are needed. Secondly, in using side, mal-functioning and physical aspects were relatively more powerful stressors. In the other words, the more serious problems were not from the characteristics of individual consumers but from those of products. Producers should put their best efforts to reduce imperfection (defectiveness) and develop user-friendly digital devices. Also, users' individual efforts to overcome the problems that can be solved privately are necessary. Finally, it was discovered that sex and computer usability were very important variables on digital stress. To extend computer usability of consumers and get over digital illiteracy, it is essential to expand the paths to give chances for people to contact with computers and other digital goods. Still there are lots of people whore computer-illiterate or low-skilled at computers. In policies or educational programs made by government, communities, or schools, more attention should be paid to the digitally vulnerable groups.

  • Considering the online idea generation, or web-storming, system would be used differently by space designers depending on their job characteristics, the present study tested the usability of web-storming using a factor correlation table with a designer group in the field. Then, for analyses, the results were compared with the previous findings on the usability of web-storming in a design administrator group to suggest comprehensive measures applicable to web-storming. The questionnaire results were analysed following a process of observation-interpretation-application, and the space design process and web-storming function factors were also analysed based on a factor correlation table. The analyses found that the most correlated space design process in both administrator and designer groups was the schematic design phase, and that the correlation started to lower upon division of labour. The assessment phase was found significantly different between the designer group and the administrator group. The assessment phase showed the second highest correlation in the designer group. In terms of the aspects related to project operation, the correlation was found higher in the designer group. Based on the findings, new applicable measures to each phase of web-storming were derived and summed up to suggest how to take advantage of web-storming in the field.

  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to the activation of sports for the disabled people in Korea through the localization of the road racing handcycles. Recently, there are no handcycles produced in Korea, and all the players are using products made in foreign countries. In the case of foreign products, it is made to fit the body shape of foreign athletes. Therefore, when domestic players are using them, they put additional parts to foreign products in order to fit their body shape. This not only adds to the cost burden, but also causes a decrease in the performance of the athletes. In order to overcome these problems, we developed the road racing handcycle in consideration of the body shape of the Koreans and conducted a comparative usability evaluation with the foreign products to evaluate the performance of the developed prototype. Therefore, we analyzed the quantitative and qualitative evaluation results of the prototype produced in the previous study, and developed the Korean road racing handcycle that can improve the competitiveness while considering the shape of domestic players. Based on the problems derived from the first prototype, this study additionally constructed a crank, an air intake part and a discharge part, and a rear anti-shake prevention device. In order to evaluate the usability, we conducted a comparative usability assessment with the foreign products used by the current standing handcycle athletes. The results were measured in the area of effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction, and the prototype developed through the research on efficiency and satisfaction excluding effectiveness was evaluated to be higher than those of foreign products. This study will contribute to the improvement of international competitiveness due to import substitution effects of foreign products and exports by lowering the handcycle cost of importing foreign handcycle.

  • Purpose: To verify the usability of tympanic temperature measurement for adults, a comparison of tympanic and axillary temperatures was done. Method: The study was conducted during October 2008, and participants were 110 female nursing students. Axillary temperatures were taken with glass mercury thermometers for 5, 7 and 10 minutes. Tympanic temperatures were taken with Infrared Thermometer IRT 4520 on both ears, twice at a 5-second interval. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Results: In the 1st measurement, the mean for right tympanic temperatures ($0.06^{\circ}C$) and for left ($0.03^{\circ}C$) were significantly higher than the 2nd. A comparison of mean temperatures for right and left, showed that the mean for the left side on the 1st measurement was significantly higher ($0.01^{\circ}C$) than the right. Also the temperature on left side in the 2nd measurement was higher ($0.04^{\circ}C$) than the right 2nd, but not significantly higher. The mean temperature for right and left tympanic on 1 st and 2nd measurements were significantly higher than axilla for 5 minutes ($0.58^{\circ}C$), for 7 minutes ($0.52^{\circ}C$), and for 10 minutes ($0.43^{\circ}C$). The tympanic temperature was the most closely correlated with the axillary temperature at 10 minutes. Conclusion: Findings indicate that measurement of tympanic temperature is a useful alternative to axillary temperature taken for 10 minutes.
