  • A conventional contact type brake system which uses a hydraulic system has mny Problems such as time delay response due to pressure build-up, brake pad wear due to contact movement, bulky size, and low braking performance in high speed region. As vehicle speed increases, a more powerful brake system is required to ensure vehicle safety and reliability. In this work, a contactless brake system of an eddy current type is proposed to overcome problems. Optimal torque control which minimizes a braking distance is investigated with a scaled-down model of an eddy current type brake. It is possible to realize optimal torque control when a maximum friction coefficient (or desired slip ratio) corresponding to road condition is maintained. Braking force analysis for a scaled-down model is done theoretically and experimentally compensated. To accomplish optimal torque control of an eddy current type brake system, a sliding mode control technique which is, one of the robust nonlinear control technique is developed. Robustness of the sliding mode controller is verified by investigating the braking performance when friction coefficient is varied. Simulation and experimental results will be presented to show that it has superior performance compared to the conventional method.

  • This paper presents an optimum tire force distribution method for 6WD/6WS(6-Wheel-Drive and 6-Wheel-Steering) electric vehicles. Using an independent steering and driving system, the performance of 6WD/6WS vehicles can be improved, as, for example, with respect to their maneuverability under low speed and their stability at high speed. Therefore, there should be a control strategy for finding the optimum tire forces that satisfy the driver's command and minimize energy consumption. From the driver's commands (steering angle and accelerator/brake pedal stroke), the desired yaw moment, the desired lateral force, and the desired longitudinal force were obtained. These three values were distributed to each wheel as the torque and the steering angle, based on the optimum tire force distribution method. The optimum tire force distribution method finds the longitudinal/lateral tire forces of each wheel that minimize the cost function, which is the sum of the normalized tire forces. Next, the longitudinal/lateral tire forces of each wheel are converted into the reference torque inputs and the steering wheel angle inputs. The proposed method was tested through a simulation, and its effectiveness was verified.

  • FlexRay는 차세대 차량 내 전자 장치간의 통신을 위해 고속의 시리얼 통신, time triggered bus, fault tolerant 통신을 제공하는 새로운 네트워크 통신 시스템의 표준이다. FlexRay는 CAN에 비하여 전송속도 최소 10배 이상이며, 수동 버스 토폴로지뿐만 아니라 능동 스타 토폴로지 구성이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 MC9S12XF512 마이크로콘트롤러를 이용하여 FlexRay 모듈을 구현하고 CAN 메시지를 변환하여 전송할 수 있도록 게이트웨이를 구현하였다. 실험을 통하여 구현한 보드가 성공적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 이동체에 대한 위성방송 및 인터넷 서비스를 지속적으로 제공하기 위해 기존의 DVB-S2 표준화에 DVB-H와 DVB-T를 결합한 새로운 DVB-S2M 표준화에 대한 연구를 하며, 여기서 생기는 deep fading을 극복하기 위한 방안에 대해 연구하였으며, 새로운 이동형 DVB-S2의 규격은 deep fading으로 인해 physical layer 부호화 방식과 upper layer 부호화 방식을 적용한 cross layer 부호화 방식을 적용시키고, DVB-S2 short frame의 부호화 방식을 physical layer 부호화 방식으로 고정시키고 upper layer 부호화 방식을 변화시키면서 성능 분석하였다. 아울러 이동체의 속도에 따라, 데이터 전송속도, 그리고 packet size에 따라 성능 분석하였다.

  • RIB(Rigid Inflatable Boat) is widely used for coastal transportation in the commercial use and for ISR(Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) in the military use. Since RIB is around 10 meters in length and over 30 knots in speed, its motion characteristics in waves is quite different from a large scale ship. When it turns, large roll occurs and heeling direction is opposite to the large ship's case. Currently, many countries are developing USV(Unmanned Surface Vehicle) of which type is RIB. In order to develop high performance autopilot and way point controller, it is very important to identify RIB's motion characteristics. In this paper, sea trial test results of a 7-meter RIB such as speed, turning, zig-zag, and way point control tests were represented and its resistance and propulsion model was identified by using sea trial data and Savitsky's formula. In addition, the state space model which will be used in the identification of the four-degree-of-freedom dynamics in the next step was formulated and the identification procedure was proposed.

체공성능 향상을 위한 확장날개 틸트로터 무인기의 제어법칙설계 (Control Law Design for a Tilt-rotor Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with a Nacelle Mounted WE (Wing Extension))

  • The results of control law design for a tilt-rotor unmanned aerial vehicle that has a nacelle mounted wing extension (WE) are presented in this paper. It consists of a control surface mixer, stability and control augmentation system (SCAS), hold mode for altitude / speed / heading, and a guidance mode for preprogram and point navigation which includes automatic take-off and landing. The conversion corridor and the control moments derivatives between the original tilt-rotor and its variant of the nacelle mounted WE were compared to show the effectiveness of the WE. The nacelle conversion of the original tilt-rotor starts when the airspeed is greater than 30 km/h but its WE variant starts at 0 km/h in order to reduce the drag caused by the high incidence angle of the WE. The stability margins of the inner loop are presented with the optimization approach. The outer loops for the hold mode are designed with trial and error methods with linear and nonlinear simulation. The main control parameter for altitude control of the helicopter mode is thrust command and it is transferred to the pitch attitude command in airplane mode. Otherwise, the control parameter for the speed of the helicopter mode is the pitch attitude command and it is transferred to the thrust command in airplane mode. Therefore the speed and altitude hold mode are coupled to each other and are engaged at the same time when an internal pilot engages any of the altitude or speed hold modes. The nonlinear simulation results of the guidance control for the preprogrammed mode and point navigation are also presented including automatic take-off and landing in order to prove the full control law.

지능형 도로 교통망을 위한 WAVE 시스템 구현 (Implementation of WAVE system for ITS)

  • 본 논문에서는 IEEE 802.11a PHY를 기반으로 IEEE 802.11p MAC(Medium Access Control)과 IEEE P1609.3을 이용하여 IT 기반 지능형 도로 교통 체계를 위한 WAVE(Wireless Access in Vehicular Environment) 기술을 구현하였다. 구현된 WAVE 시스템은 최대 120km/h의 속도에서 노변 기지국과 차량 간에 최대 0.5km 범위 내에서 하향 기준 최대 12Mbps의 전송 속도로 통신이 가능하게 하였다. ITS를 위한 WAVE 시스템의 적합성 검증을 위해 도로에서의 저속 및 고속 주행 시 통신 반경 크기, 링크 접속 시간, 데이터 전송 속도, 오류율, 지연시간 등의 파라미터를 측정하여 WAVE가 IT 기반 ITS에 적합하다는 것을 입증하였다.

  • 차세대 고속철도(HEMU-430X)는 최고 속도 430km/h, 운영 속도 370km/h를 목표로 개발 중인 세계적 수준의 철도 차량이다. 시속 300km 이상의 운영 속도를 유지하기 위하여 충족해야 할 요건들은 다양하지만 주행 중 안정적인 전력 공급 여부는 상용화를 결정짓는 핵심기술 중 하나이다. 따라서 고속에서의 가선과 판토그래프의 동적 상호작용은 사전 평가를 통하여 충분히 검토되어야 한다. 본 논문에서는 다물체 동역학 해석 기법을 기반으로 한 집전성능 해석 프로그램을 이용하여 차세대 고속철도의 집전성능을 평가하였다. 국제 규정을 기반으로 기존 사양에 대한 성능 평가를 실시하고, 추가적으로 장력 및 경간 길이 변화에 따른 평가 결과를 토대로 집전성능 향상 방안에 대하여 고찰하였다.

Experimental study on the influence of Reynolds number and roll angle on train aerodynamics

  • When the rolling stocks run on the curve, the external rail has to be lifted to a certain level to balance the centrifugal force acting on the train body. Under such a situation, passengers may feel uncomfortable, and the slanted vehicle has the potential overturning risks at high speed. This paper conducted a wind tunnel test in an annular wind tunnel with φ=3.2 m based on a 1/20th scaled high-speed train (HST) model. The sensitivity of Reynolds effects ranging from Re = 0.37×106 to Re = 1.45×106 was tested based on the incoming wind from U=30 m/s to U=113 m/s. The wind speed covers the range from incompressible to compressible. The impact of roll angle ranging from γ=0° to γ=4° on train aerodynamics was tested. In addition, the boundary layer development was also analyzed under different wind speeds. The results indicate that drag and lift aerodynamic coefficients gradually stabilized and converged over U=70 m/s, which could be regeared as the self-similarity region. Similarly, the thickness of the boundary layer on the floor gradually decreased with the wind speed increase, and little changed over U=80 m/s. The rolling moment of the head and tail cars increased with the roll angle from γ=0° to γ=4°. However, the potential overturning risks of the head car are higher than the tail car with the increase of the roll angle. This study is significant in providing a reference for the overturning assessment of HST.

FlexRay 프로토콜 설계 및 자동차 경보 시스템 응용 (Implementation of FlexRay Protocol Specification and its Application to a Automobile Advance Alarm System)

  • FlexRay는 높은 유연성과 신뢰성을 갖는 고속의 통신프로토콜이다. 자동차회사와 반도체회사들에 의해 개발되었고 x-by-wire 시스템을 이용하여 차량 내 LAN으로 구현된다. FlexRay는 차량 내 전자 장치간의 통신을 위해 고속의 시리얼 통신, time triggered bus, fault tolerant 통신을 제공한다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 SDL(Specification and Description Language)을 이용하여 FlexRay communication controller와 bus guardian 프로토콜 규격과 기능 부분을 설계한다. 다음 설계한 SDL 소스를 기반으로 Verilog HDL을 이용하여 하드웨어로 설계한다. 설계한 FlexRay 시스템은 Samsung $0.35{\mu}m$ 공정을 이용하여 합성하였으며, 그 결과 76 MHz의 속도로 동작하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 FlexRay 시스템의 동작을 확인하기 위해 차량에 적용되는 자동차 경보 시스템에 응용하였다. FlexRay 시스템은 ALTERA Excalibur ARM EPAX4F672C3을 이용하여 검증하였으며 성공적으로 동작함을 확인하였다.
