High Resolution Analysis for Defective Pixels Detection using a Low Resolution Camera

  • A system for high-resolution analysis of defective elementary cell (R, G or B) on Flat Panel Display (FPD) is described. Based on multiple acquisitions of low-resolution shifted images of the display, our system doesn't require a high-resolution sensor neither tedious alignment of the display, and will remain up to date even facing an important increase of the display dimensions. Our process, highly automated and thus flexible and robust, is expected to perform a full analysis in less than 60s. It is mainly intended for production tests and display classification by manufacturers.

  • High resolution three-dimensional integral imaging display is proposed. Each time-multiplexed image is projected with different incident angle on same array of elemental lenses. Those images are collected at different positions in focal plane of lens array, and thus the number of the point light sources increases and their spacing decreases. Therefore, proposed method can create high resolution 3D images.

  • We have successfully developed the 22 inch WSXGA+ DLS(Data Line Sharing) Panel driving in 75 Hz. In the large size and high resolution panels, it is very difficult to design the DLS Panels without failure because of the very short charging time and the large signal delay. So, we first investigated the charging order to find the most adequate charging type to the large size and high resolution panels. And then, we optimized the design of DLS in terms of improving the charging properties using the technologies of the Delta-doping TFTs, Cu metal electrodes and optimization of panel design value and the circuit signal timing.

  • We propose a novel n-type a-Si:H TFT pixel circuit which is proper to AMOLED display for the large size and high resolution. Proposed pixel circuit will be suit to panel for the high resolution because of different threshold sampling method. Driving method of proposed pixel circuit is very simple like an AMLCD. Our simulation indicates that the proposed pixel circuit can compensate the Vth shift and IR rising of power line so that provide better quality image.

  • In this paper, we present an efficient tiled stereo display system for tangible meeting. For tangible meeting, it is important to provide immersive display with high resolution image to cover up the field of view and provide to the local user the same environment as that of remote site. To achieve these, a high resolution image needs to be transmitted for reconstruction of remote world, and it should be displayed using a tiled display. However, it is hard to transmit high resolution image in real time due to the limit of network bandwidth, and so we receive multiple images and reconstruct a remote world with received images in advance. Then, we update only a specific area where remote user exists by receiving low resolution image in realtime. We synthesize the transmitted image to the existing environmental map of remote world and display it as a stereo image. For this, we developed a new system which supports GPU based real time warping and blending, automatic feature extraction using machine vision technique.

  • 본 논문에서는 가상공간 협업 환경의 현실감을 향상시키는 초고해상도 타일드 디스플레이에 기반한 촉감 협업 시스템을 다룬다. 먼저 고해상도의 화면과 촉감 (힘)의 디스플레이를 조율하는 기법을 제안하고, 가시화 측면에서 제안 시스템을 모델링하여 성능 평가하는 기준을 제시한다. 그래픽으로 구성된 가상 환경이 힘에 대한 정보를 반환하기 위해서는 햅틱 렌더링을 처리해야 하고, 이 렌더링은 1kHz 이상의 속도로 반복되어야 한다. 또한 그래픽 환경의 고해상도 화면 출력을 위해서는 적정 수준의 프레임 율을 제공하여야한다. 하지만 시스템의 하드웨어적 성능은 제한되어 있기 때문에 두 프로세스를 안정적으로 실행하기에는 한계가 있다. 따라서 초고해상도 타일드 디스플레이에 기반한 촉감 협업 시스템의 안정적인 동작을 위해서는 자원의 효율적인 사용이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 통합 시스템의 안정성 향상을 위하여, 효율적인 고해상도 디스플레이 방법을 제안함으로서 고해상도 디스플레이의 자원 요구량을 감소시킨다. 제안된 기법은 가시화 대상 화면을 가상 물체를 기준으로 분할하여 타일드 디스플레이로 전송함으로써 분할된 그래픽들을 독립된 프레임 율로 조절할 수 있도록 한다. 각 가상 물체 별로 프레임 율을 조절할 수 있게 하면, 움직이지 않는 물체에 대해서 업데이트를 줄여 전송되는 데이터의 중복성을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다. 마지막으로 제안된 효율적 디스플레이 방법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 일반적인 가시화 시스템의 모델링을 제시하고, 제안된 기법과 기존의 다른 가시화 시스템들의 성능을 비교한다.

  • SDI has been developing mobile 3D display for years. For mobile applications, we adapted parallax barrier method. We have developed auto stereoscopic swing 3D display in which people can 3D image in both portrait and landscape mode. Furthermore to increase 3D resolution, we have developed a high resolution 3D display using time division multiplexing parallax barrier method

  • We have developed a 470 x 235ppi poly-Si TFT LCD with a novel pixel arrangement, called HDDP (Horizontally Double-Density Pixels), for high-resolution 2D and 3D autostereoscopic display. 3D image quality is especially high in a lenticular-lens-equipped 3D mode because both horizontal resolution and vertical resolution are high, and because these resolutions are equal. 3D and 2D images can be displayed simultaneously in the same picture. In addition, 3D images can be displayed anywhere and 2D characters can be made to appear at different depths with perfect legibility. No switching of 2D/3D modes is necessary, and the design's thin and uncomplicated structure makes it especially suitable for mobile terminals.

  • This paper presents a prototype of high resolution 3D display with a new principle. We have proposed a new 3D display which has the features of both Integral Imaging (II) and volumetric display. The proposed display consists of two lens arrays and a thin volumetric display. When the viewer watches a thin volumetric display through two lens array, he can perceive a thick 3D image. In other words the two lens arrays can play a role of a convex lens which has a large diameter as a amplification of a depth. The advantage of the proposed display is that it has higher resolution than II and it is smaller than volumetric display with a large convex lens. In this paper, we show a detail of a prototype 3D display. We took various errors into consideration when we simulated 3D display and we found suitable lenses parameter from the simulation result. Then we confirm that the prototype will be able to reconstruct 3D images.

초대형 해석 결과의 분석을 위한 고해상도 타일 가시화 시스템 개발 (High-Resolution Tiled Display System for Visualization of Large-scale Analysis Data)

  • 본 논문에서는 저가의 클러스터 컴퓨터 시스템과 저해상도 영상장비들을 이용하여 초대형 해석 데이터를 정밀하게 분석할 수 있는 고해상도 타일 가시화 시스템을 개발하였다. 타일 가시화 하드웨어 구축 시 유의점을 고찰하고, 화면왜곡 현상을 제거할 수 있는 빔프로젝터 위치조절장치를 설계/제작하였다. 타일 가시화 소프트웨어 개발에서 그래픽 사용자 인터페이스와 렌더링을 위해서는 Qt와 OpenGL 라이브러리를 이용하였다. 또한 LAM-MPI 라이브러리를 통해 각각의 클러스터 컴퓨터 노드로부터 얻게 되는 조각적인 화면들을 전체의 한 화면으로 동기화시켜 왜곡 없는 전체 타일 영상을 만들도록 하였다.
