  • GPS has been increasingly used in high precision positioning thanks to rapid advances of GPS technology. In order to acquire precise coordinates from GPS, it is important to solve accurately integer ambiguity inherent in GPS signals. The previous methods to solve this ambiguity were mostly based on multi-epoch data but recently a method based on single-epoch data has been developed. In this study, we selected three sets of software based on these methods, applied them to GPS baseline processing, and analyzed the experimental results. From these analyses, we have also verified the potential of their uses in real time precision positioning.

  • This paper is a study on precise point positioning using global navigation satellite system. This paper studies inherent barriers of global navigation satellite system such as increase in shadowed areas and positioning errors when signals cannot be received due to various environmental factors. It analyzes performance of various receivers, changes in number of satellite and DOP(Dilution of Precision) following changes in environment such as center of a road, side of a road, residential area, high building, and alleys. It also studies changes in positioning error. The objective of this study lies on understanding the range of positioning error following changes in environment and the cause of error, and enhancing the reliability and safety of the global navigation satellite system.

  • The quality of a precision product, in general, relies on the accuracy and precision of its manufacturing and inspection process. In many cases, the level of precision in the manufacturing and inspection system is also dependent on the positioning capability of tool with respect to the work piece in the process. Recently the positioning accuracy level has reached to the level of submicron and long range of motion is required. For example, for 1 GDARM lithography, 20nm accuracy and 300mm stroke needs. This paper refers to the lithography stage especially to fine stage. In this study, for long stroke and high accuracy, the dual servo system is proposed. For the coarse actuator, LDM (Linear DC Motor) is used and for fine one VCM is used. In this study, we propose the new structure of VCM for the fine actuator. It is 3 axis precision positioning stage for an aligner system. After we perform the optimal design of the stage to obtain the maximum force, which is related to the acceleration of the stage to accomplish throughput of product. And we controlled this fine stage with TDC. So we obtained 50nm resolution. So later more works will be done to obtain better accuracy.

  • The conventional single-reference station positioning is affected by systematic errors such as ionospheric and tropospheric delay, so that the rover must be located within 10 km from the reference station in order to acquire centimeter-level accuracy. The medium-range real-time kinematic has been proven feasible and can be used for high precision applications. However, the longer of the baseline, the more of the time for resolving the integral ambiguity is required. This is due to the fact that systematic errors can not be eliminated effectively by double-differencing. Recently, network approaches have been proposed to overcome the limitation of the single-reference station positioning. The real-time systematic error modeling can be achieved with the use of GPS network. For expanding the effective range and decreasing the density of the reference stations, Land Survey Bureau, Ministry of the Interior in Taiwan set up a national GPS network. In order to obtain the high precision positioning and provide the multi-goals services, a GPS network including 66 stations already been constructed in Taiwan. The users can download the corrections from the data center via the wireless internet and obtain the centimeter-level accuracy positioning. The service is very useful for surveyors and the high precision coordinates can be obtained real time.

  • The precise orbit determination (POD) of low earth orbiter (LEO) has complied with its required positioning accuracy by the double-differencing of observations between International GNSS Service (IGS) and LEO to eliminate the common clock error of the global positioning system (GPS) satellites and receiver. Using this method, we also have achieved the 1 m positioning accuracy of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT)-2. However double-differencing POD has huge load of processing the global network of lots of ground stations because LEO turns around the Earth with rapid velocity. And both the centimeter accuracy and the near real time (NRT) processing have been needed in the LEO POD applications--atmospheric sounding or urgent image processing--as well as the surveying. An alternative to differential GPS for high accuracy NRT POD is precise point positioning (PPP) to use measurements from one satellite receiver only, to replace the broadcast navigation message with precise post processed values from IGS, and to have phase measurements of dual frequency GPS receiver. PPP can obtain positioning accuracy comparable to that of differential positioning. KOMPSAT-5 has a precise dual frequency GPS flight receiver (integrated GPS and occultation receiver, IGOR) to satisfy the accuracy requirements of 20 cm positioning accuracy for highly precise synthetic aperture radar image processing and to collect GPS radio occultation measurements for atmospheric sounding. In this paper we obtained about 3-5 cm positioning accuracies using the real GPS data of the Gravity Recover and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites loaded the Blackjack receiver, a predecessor of IGOR. And it is important to reduce the latency of orbit determination processing in the NRT POD. This latency is determined as the volume of GPS measurements. Thus changing the sampling intervals, we show their latency to able to reduce without the precision degradation as the assessment of their precision.

  • In the field of precision manufacturing demanding high positioning performance, the mechanical friction in positioning device deteriorates the quality of the product and increases the cost of production for positioning devices. Therefore, we propose a contract-free linear actuator using active magnetic bearing. The structure and operating principle of the proposed system are explained, and the magnetic forces are analyzed by magnetic circuit theory to design magnetic bearings and linear actuator. With the derived equation of motion, the stability is identified. Experimental results are presented to show the feasibility.

  • Conventional linear control fails to provide precise positioning of a control object under the influence of friction, deadzone, saturation, etc. This paper proposes a high-precision control scheme for a precise point-to-point positioning system, called an X-Y table, even under the same influences above. The proposed scheme is composed of a fuzzy precompensator and a PD controller. The fuzzy precompensator is employed to improve the performance of the PD controller. Its fuzzy rules are obtained from experimental evolutionary programming (EP), not from an expert. The effectiveness of the scheme is demonstrated by experiments on the X-Y table. with a positioning error of within 1$\mu\textrm{m}$.

  • This paper provides an overview of recent trends in sensor fusion technologies for vehicle positioning. The GNSS by itself cannot satisfy precision and reliability required by autonomous driving. We survey sensor fusion techniques that combine the outputs from the GNSS and the inertial navigation sensors such as an odometer and a gyroscope. Moreover, we overview landmark-based positioning that matches landmarks detected by a lidar or a stereo vision to high-precision digital maps.
