Field observations have been conducted to investigate the physical environment around oyster farms in Gamak Bay. Tidal waves near the two channels at the northeast and south of the bay had almost the same amplitudes and phases. Water temperature responded sensibly to the tides, rising at high water and falling at low water, except for the northwest region. The currents more regularly varied in accordance with a tidal period as long as they are at the faster-flowing region. A considerable flow has been found near the seabed of the northwest of the bay, normally known to be a stagnant area, and also the flow was opposite to the surface flow. Average moving speeds and directions of the flow at each station coincided well with patterns of the residual currents computed by Lee ef al. [2004], except for the northwest region. The discrepancy for the northwest region is not clear but it may have resulted from the facts that the computed flow pattern represents only the case of spring tide and in addition, a northwesterly wind prevailed all the observation time.
This experiment was conducted to determine germination ability, life cycle, regrowth ability of Portulaca oleracea L. The newly harvested seeds from P. oleracea flowered before July 15 were able to germinate, but percent germination decreased markedly as the flowering time was later than July 15, showing no germination of seed collected at Sept. 12 which were flowered at August 30, 76.5% of seeds can be germinated in the light as seed stored in room condition for 90 days, but in dark condition, it needed 2 years of seed storage for germination. Low temperature treatment at $2^{\circ}C$ for 5 days enhanced seed germination of P. oleracea in both light and dark conditions. The maximum vagetative growth was observed at 30 to 75 days after seeding. The late seeding time such as July 1 shortened the period of vegetative growth. However, regardless of the seeding times, the first flowering was observed at about 40 days after seeding. Leaf numbers, shoot lengths, fresh and dry weights were greatly affected by the seeding dates, showing that the earlier seedings produced significantly higher shoot length, fresh and dry weight, leaf numbers and branch numbers than those of the late seedings. When all branches were removed on 68 days after seeding, their regrowth ability was 50.3% and cuttaged branches showed 78.1% regrowth as compared to intact plant.

To investigate the aquatic environmental factors and processes controlling primary production in the Seomjin River estuary, chlorophyll a, nutrients, pH, SS, DO, temperature, salinity and primary productivity were measured in February, April, August and October, 2001. Primary productivity values ranged between 50.7 and 14,120.3 mg C $m^{-3} day^{-1}$ during the sampling period. In contrast to other estuaries, light condition did not seem to be the important limiting factor far primary production due to high water-column transparency during most of the time. The autumn bloom occurred in regions where salinity values ranged between 10 and 20 psu. This phenomenon appeared to develop every year and deserves further investigation. The behavior of nutrients, which is one of the major factors controlling the primary productivity, appeared to be governed by salinity regimes. The main source of nitrogenous nutrients seemed to be the freshwater runoff from the Seomjin River. However, that of phosphorus seemed to be from the industrial wastewater in Gwangyang area. The primary pro-duction of phytoplankton in the study area varied with space and time, showing a close correlation with water column transparency, and exhibited higher values compared to those of adjacent coastal regions in Gwangyang Bay.
This study was carried out to elucidate the development of unprecedented water-bloom caused by a single species of colonial green algae Eudorina elegans in the upstream area of the Seungchon weir located in the Yeongsan River from late April to May 2013. The Yeongsan River is typically regulated system and the waterbody is seriously enriched by both external and internal sources of nutrients. Seasonal algal outbreaks were highly probable due to various potential factors, such as the excessive nutrients contained in treated wastewater, slow current, high irradiation and temperature, in diatom (winter), green algae (spring) and bluegreen algae (summer). Spring green-tide was attributed to E. elegans with level up to $1,000mg\;m^{-3}$(>$50{\times}10^4cells\;mL^{-1}$). The bloom was exploded in the initial period of the algal development and after then gradually diminished with transporting to the downstream by the intermittent rainfall, resulting in rapid expansion of the distribution range. Although the pulsed-flows by the weir manipulation was applied to control algal bloom, they were not the countermeasures to solve the underlying problem, but rather there still was a remaining problem related to the impact of pulsed-flows on the downstream. The green-tide of E. elegans in this particular region of the Yeongsan River revealed the blooming characteristics of a colonial motile microalga, and fate of vanishing away by the succeeding episodic events of mesoscale rainfall. We believe that the results of the present study contribute to limno-ecological understanding of the green-tide caused by blue-green algae in the four major rivers, Korea.
This study was conducted to demonstrate quality characteristics of ginger by making aged ginger( AG) with two methods, the frist method was that ginger was aged at constant temperature and humidity chamber for the duration of 10, 20 and 30 days, and the other method was drying the ginger just after steaming it for 3 hours. As the age was being processed, the volume of ginger's appearance decreased rapidly and its color seemed to be darker because of the decrease in moisture. In the case of general components, the content of crude ash was depended on aged periods while the content of crude fat was independent with aged periods, and according to the content of crude protein, there was not any significant differences. The main valuable ingredient which is 6-gingerol showed the decreasing trend as it was exposed to heat with more time, and 6-shogaol which is also one of the main valuable ingredients showed high content at T-II(AG-10days). Free sugar and free amino acid of AG decreased as aged period goes by, and this study found that there were lots of essential amino acid (threonine, glutamic acid, alanine, valine, leucine and tyrosine) in ginger. The amount of unsaturated fatty acid of AG was significantly higher than the amount of saturated fatty acid of AG with the approximate ratio of 60:40, and the amount of free fatty acid of AG did not seem any big differences between AG and none AG. Considering both valuable ingredients and nutritive components, T-I (steamed ginger, SG) and T-II which was aged for 10 days were evaluated excellently.

In the saponification to manufacture plant fatty acid hard soap, the drying process is required for its water evaporation and hardness. This study mixed it with essential oil(E.O) with high volatility instead of adding synthetic flavor. And it comparatively observed the duration of flavor changing to the additive ($TiO_2$) and the drying period of the major flavor component (Linalool, Linalyl acetate) in the essential oil (Lavender E.O) contained in the soap during the soap manufacture by using GC-MS. Advanced researches have mostly dealt with the utility of plant hard soap, and those related with the volatility of flavor have been hardly conducted. Regarding the volatility of linalool contained in the soap, the soap mixed with $TiO_2$ showed a higher reduction ratio up to the 12th week; however, at the point of the 20th week, it reduced to a similar level. Although Linalyl acetate did indicate a slight difference according to the mixture of $TiO_2$, the volatility was shown similar up to the point of the 20th week. During the 20 weeks of drying, the residual rate of linalool was found to be higher than that of Linalyl acetate regardless of the mixture of $TiO_2$. It has been found that the flavor component of lavender essential oil with the duration of two or so days at the room temperature remains for 20 weeks (or 5 months) when it is manufactured through the mixture of plant fatty acid hard soap.
In this research, to modernize traditional food and to make functional bokryung-byung, bokryung-byungwas made with Poriacocos Wolf powder added. During its storage, its moisture content ranged from 42.89 to 44.85%. The control group had the highes tmoisture content (44.85%), and it was reduced significantly as the Poriacocos Wolf powder in creased. The longer the storage period was, the lower the pH and the higher the acidity was. The total bacterial count increased from 2.70 to 3.00 Log CFU/g right after the manufacture and increased rapidly on the fourth day of the storage with more than 7.00 Log CFU/g. There was no difference between the control group and the bokryung-byung, though. The Hunter's color value after the manufacture, with the increase in the added Poriacocos Wolf powder, showed a significantly reduced brightness, but significantly increased redness and yellowness. Their chromaticity did not change, how ever, during their storageat a temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. The hardness, solidity, gumminess, and cohesiveness of the bokryung-byung increased, unlike in the control group, and its brittleness increased. In terms of the overall preference, the preference for the control group was high, but was higher when 5 % Poria cocos Wolf powder was added during the manufacture of the bokryung-byung. As a result of these correlations, it is believed that elastic and chewy dduks are preferred and bokryung-byungs could be developed as functional dduks.

This study was examined the characteristics on the pollinating activities of Apis mellifera, Bombus ignitus and B. terrestris as pollinators on the watermelon flowers(Citrullus vulgaris Schrad), and the effects of the pollination by pollinators compared to the artificial pollination in the watermelon green houses in Nonsan City on summer season in 2005. As a result, B. ignitus and B. terrestris could not be used for summer season, because the bumblebees were not pollinated effectively indeed even two days after hives were released at watermelon green houses during the summer cultivating period. It could not be controlled a poor watermelon house conditions; high temperature and low humidity on summer season which were the bad environment for pollinating activities of bumblebees. But this study was showed that A. mellifera could be used comparatively good pollinator instead of artificial pollination in spite of the bad environment for bee within the watermelon green houses on summer season.
To establish the systematic biological control system for various insect pests in strawberry under plastic houses, we were investigated the biological traits of lesser strawberry aphid, Chaetosiphon minus (Forbes), as a target pest. The lesser strawberry aphid is adapted to low temperatures while examining the availability of and selecting useful natural enemies. The development, survivorship and reproduction of lesser strawberry aphid were evaluated at four constant temperatures (10, 15, 20, and 25℃). The developmental periods of the nymphal stages ranged from 41.7 d at 10℃ to 9.8 d at 25℃. The developmental threshold temperature and degree day of nymphal stages are 5.5℃ and 185 DD. The reproduction rate (R0) was higher at 20℃ (30.16) than at 25℃ (22.38). The 50 % survival rate and maximum longevity of adult females were 31 d and 59 d at 20℃, and 25 d and 36 d at 25℃, respectively. The average progeny per female was 35 at 20℃, and 26 at 25℃. We confirmed that compared to other strawberry aphids under plastic houses, the lesser strawberry aphid is more adapted to lower temperatures. It is, therefore, necessary to commercialize natural enemies such as syrphid flies with high activity at low temperatures.

Korea's facility horticulture has developed remarkably in a short period of time. However, in order to secure international competitiveness in response to unfavorable surrounding conditions such as high operating costs and market opening, it is necessary to diagnose the problems of facility horticulture and prepare countermeasures through analysis. The purpose of this study was to analyze the case of leading farmers by introducing information and communication technology (ICT) in hydroponic cultivation agriculture and horticulture, and to examine how agricultural technology utilizing smart farm and big data of facility horticulture contribute to farm productivity. Crop growth information gathering and analysis solutions were developed to analyze the productivity change factors calculated from hydroponics tomato farms and strawberry farms. The results of this study are as follows. The application range of the leaf temperature was verified to be variously utilized such as house ventilation in the facility, opening and closing of the insulation curtain, and determination of the initial watering point and the ending time point. Second, it is necessary to utilize water content information of crop growth. It was confirmed that the crop growth rate information can confirm whether the present state of crops is nutrition or reproduction, and can control the water content artificially according to photosynthesis ability. Third, utilize EC and pH information of crops. Depending on the crop, EC values should be different according to climatic conditions. It was confirmed that the current state of the crops can be confirmed by comparing EC and pH, which are measured from the supplied EC, pH and draining. Based on the results of this study, it can be confirmed that the productivity of smart farm can be affected by how to use the information of measurement growth.
