Solid Oxide Fuel Cell has advantage of high utility because of having high operation temperature. In case of anode, Ni and YSZ being widly used as anode start materials. But Ni can be sintered during operation because that its operation temperature is very high, so it cause to lower the cell performance. It is very important to control the ratio of Ni to YSZ. In this paper, we studed on characterization of anode by controlling the Ni-YSZ contents.
The operational temperature range of thermosiphon is generally limited from the critical point to the triple point of the working fluid to maintain two-phase state. Thermosiphon with mixed working fluid has a potential to widen the operational temperature range. In this study, the physical behavior of mixed working fluid during the transient operation of thermosiphon was analyzed with temperature-mole fraction diagram. The condenser and the evaporator temperature variations were explained by the dew line and the bubble line of the mixture. It is encouraging that the thermosiphon operation commences early with larger fraction of high boiling point component, but the temperature gap between the condenser and the evaporator due to the separation of two components has a negative effect on the officient cool down process.

The operation method of nuclear power plants is currently changing to high burn-up and long period that can enhance economics and efficiency of the plant. Since nuclear plant operation environment has been becoming severe, the amount of absorbed hydrogen also has increased. Absorbed hydrogen can be fatal securing safety of nuclear fuel cladding in case of Loss of Coolant Accidents(LOCA). In order to examine the impact of hydride on high-temperature oxidation, high-temperature oxidation experiment was performed on normal Zry-4 cladding and on Zry-4 cladding where hydrogen is charged in air pressure steam atmosphere under the $950^{\circ}C$ and $1000^{\circ}C$. According to the results, while oxidation acceleration due to charged hydrogen was not observed prior to breakaway oxidation creation, oxidation began to accelerate in cladding where hydrogens charged as soon as the breakaway oxidation started. If so much hydrogen are charged in the cladding, equiaxial monoclinic phase to unstable of stress is formed and it is presumed that oxidation is accelerated because nearby stress caused a crack in equiaxial phase, and that makes corrosion resistance decline sharply.

The power consumption of a high-end microprocessor increases very rapidly. High power consumption will lead to a rapid increase in the chip temperature as well. If the temperature reaches beyond a certain level, chip operation becomes either slow or unreliable. Therefore various approaches for Dynamic Thermal Management (DTM) have been proposed. In this paper, we propose a learning based temperature prediction scheme for a multi-core system. In this approach, from repeatedly executing an application, we learn the thermal patterns of the chip, and we control the temperature in advance through DTM. When the predicted temperature may go beyond a threshold value, we reduce the temperature by decreasing the operation frequencies of the corresponding core. We implement our temperature prediction on an Intel's Quad-Core system which has integrated digital thermal sensors. A Dynamic Frequency System (DFS) technique is implemented to have four frequency steps on a Linux kernel. We carried out experiments using Phoronix Test Suite benchmarks for Linux. The peak temperature has been reduced by on average $5^{\circ}C{\sim}7^{\circ}C$. The overall average temperature reduced from $72^{\circ}C$ to $65^{\circ}C$.
Air flow of inside automobile HVAC module has been visualized using a high-resolution PIV technique with varying the temperature operation mode. The PIV system consists of a 2-head Nd:YAG laser(125 mJ), a high-resolution CCD camera(2K x 2K), optics and a synchronizer. A real automobile HVAC module was used directly with slight modification for clear optical windows. Some parts of the HVAC module casing were replaced with transparent windows for capturing flow images with laser light sheet beam illumination. Time-averaged velocity field were measured in three temperature control modes. Flow characteristics of the air-conditioned air flow in the automobile HVAC system were evaluated.
Polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells(PEMFC) are very interesting power source due to high power density, simple construction and operation at low temperature. But they have problems such as high cost, improvement of performance and effect of temperature. This problems can be approached using mathematical models which are useful tools for analysis and optimization of fuel cell performance and for heat and water management, in this paper, transient model consists of various energy terms associated with fuel cell operation using the mass and energy balance equation. And water transfer in the membrane is composed of back diffusion and electro-osmotic drag. The temperature calculated by transient model approximately agreed with the temperature measured by experiment in constant current condition.

Charge amplifier systems benefit from the very wide dynamic range of PE accelerometers by offering flexibility in adjusting the electrical output characteristics such as sensitivity and range. They are well suited for operation at high temperatures. Modern charge systems feature improved low noise operation, simplified digital controls, and dual mode operation for operation with charge or IEPE voltage mode sensors. high impedance circuitry is not well suited for operation in adverse field or factory environments. The resolution of a PE accelerometer may not be specified or known since noise is a system consideration determined by cable length and amplifier gain. IEPE accelerometrs operate from a constant current power source, provide a high-voltage, low-impedance, fixed mV/g output. They operate through long, ordinary, coaxial cable in adverse environments without degradation of signal quality. They have limited high temperature range. IEPE sensors are simple to operate. Both resolution and operating range are defined specifications. Cost perchannel is lower compared to PE systems since low-noise cable and charge amplifiers are not required.
High-temperature design evaluations were conducted on Type 316L stainless steel piping for a 700 ℃ large-capacity thermal energy storage verification test loop (TESET) under construction at KAERI. The hot leg piping with sodium coolant at 700 ℃ connects the main components of the loop heater, hot storage tank, and air-to-sodium heat exchanger. Currently, the design rules of ASME B31.1 and RCC-MRx provide design procedures for high-temperature piping in the creep range for Type 316L stainless steel. However, the design material properties around 700 ℃ are not available in those rules. Therefore, a number of material tests, including creep tests at various temperatures, were conducted to determine the insufficient material properties and relevant design coefficients so that high-temperature design on the 700 ℃ piping may be possible. It was shown that Type 316L stainless steel can be used in a 700 ℃ high-temperature piping system of Generation IV reactor systems or a renewable energy systems, such as thermal energy storage systems, for a limited operation time.
Oyster mushroom farm which could not meet optimum temperature range yields non-uniform sized, low quality products. Thus, this study, utilizing STAR CCM+, one of the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) programs, analyzed the impact of air circulation and temperature distribution. Methods: After we visited numerous mushroom farms, we measured the temperature at the discharge ports of heaters, fan capacity, and the locations of the air circulators in the farms. According to the data, most mushroom growers installed the heaters near the entrance and discharge ports of the heaters at the third growing bed on the same height as the heaters in the entrance. The temperature at the discharge port of heater was $1,26^{\circ}C$, and the fan capacity was 4,500 $m^3$/hr. The air circulator was placed in the center of the mushroom farm 50cm above the ground, and its capacity of inlet port was 1,100 $m^3$/hr and discharge port 1,600 $m^3$/hr. The mushroom farm was insulated. Results: According to the analysis of the temperature distribution in the vertical plane of the entrance side, no air circulation causes the high temperature zone of 296~299K at the discharge port of the heater to take up 34% of area while the operation of air circulators causes it to occupy only 9%. This means that not using air circulators leads to a concentration of high temperature at the discharge port near the entrance. In addition, with the results of the analysis of the temperature distribution in the vertical planes of the center, no air circulation causes the temperature zone of 295~298K at the discharge port of the heater to take up 48% of area while the operation of air circulators causes it to occupy 80%. This shows that the high outlet port temperature disseminated to the center. Conclusions: After ninety minute operation of both heater and air circulator, the interior temperature became stabilized in the mushroom farm. Air circulation made the high temperature at the discharge port disseminate to the center and exit in the farm and equalize the temperature distribution.
Low-temperature drying systems have been extensively used for drying cereal grain such as shelled corn and wheat. Since the 1973 energy crisis, many researches have been conducted to apply solar energy as supplemental heat to natural air drying systems. However, little research on rough rice drying has been done in this area, especially very little in Korea. In designing a solar drying system, quality loss, airflow requirements, temperature rise of drying air, fan power and energy requirements should be throughly studied. The factors affecting solar drying systems are airflow rate, initial moisture content, the amount of heat added to drying air, fan operation method and the weather conditions. The major objectives of this study were to analyze the effects of the performance factors and determine design parameters such as airflow requirements, optimum bed depth, optimum temperature rise of drying air, fan operation method and collector size. Three hourly observations based on the 4-year weather data in Chuncheon area were used to simulate rough rice drying. The results can be summarized as follows: 1. The results of the statistical analysis indicated that the experimental and predicted values of the temperature rise of the air passing through the collector agreed well. 2. Equilibrium moisture content was affected a little by airflow rate, but affected mainly by the amount of heat added, to drying air. Equilibrium moisture content ranged from 12.2 to 13.2 percent wet basis for the continuous fan operation, from 10.4 to 11.7 percent wet basis for the intermittent fan operation respectively, in range of 1. 6 to 5. 9 degrees Centigrade average temperature rise of drying air. 3. Average moisture content when top layer was dried to 15 percent wet basis ranged from 13.1 to 13.9 percent wet basis for the continuous fan operation, from 11.9 to 13.4 percent wet basis for the intermittent fan operation respectively, in the range of 1.6 to 5.9 degrees Centigrade average temperature rise of drying air and 18 to 24 percent wet basis initial moisture content. The results indicated that grain was overdried with the intermittent fan operation in any range of temperature rise of drying air. Therefore, the continuous fan operation is usually more effective than the intermittent fan operation considering the overdrying. 4. For the continuous fan operation, the average temperature rise of drying air may be limited to 2.2 to 3. 3 degrees Centigrade considering safe storage moisture level of 13.5 to 14 perceut wet basis. 5. Required drying time decrease ranged from 40 to 50 percent each time the airflow rate was doubled and from 3.9 to 4.3 percent approximately for each one degrees Centigrade in average temperature rise of drying air regardless of the fan operation methods. Therefore, the average temperature rise of drying air had a little effect on required drying time. 6. Required drying time increase ranged from 18 to 30 percent approximately for each 2 percent increase in initial moisture content regardless of the fan operation methods, in the range of 18 to 24 percent moisture. 7. The intermittent fan operation showed about 36 to 42 percent decrease in required drying time as compared with the continuous fan operation. 8. Drymatter loss decrease ranged from 34 to 46 percent each time the airflow rate was doubled and from 2 to 3 percent approximately for each one degrees Centigrade in average temperature rise of drying air, regardless of the fan operation methods. Therefore, the average temperature rise of drying air had a little effect on drymatter loss. 9. Drymatter loss increase ranged from 50 to 78 percent approximately for each 2 percent increase in initial moisture content, in the range of 18 to 24 percent moisture. 10. The intermittent fan operation: showed about 40 to 50 percent increase in drymatter loss as compared with the continuous fan operation and the increasing rate was higher at high level of initial moisture and average temperature rise. 11. Year-to-year weather conditions had a little effect on required drying time and drymatter loss. 12. The equations for estimating time required to dry top layer to 16 and 1536 wet basis and drymatter loss were derived as functions of the performance factors. by the least square method. 13. Minimum airflow rates based on 0.5 percent drymatter loss were estimated. Minimum airflow rates for the intermittent fan operation were approximately 1.5 to 1.8 times as much as compared with the continuous fan operation, but a few differences among year-to-year. 14. Required fan horsepower and energy for the intermittent fan operation were 3. 7 and 1. 5 times respectively as much as compared with the continuous fan operation. 15. The continuous fan operation may be more effective than the intermittent fan operation considering overdrying, fan horsepower requirements, and energy use. 16. A method for estimating the required collection area of flat-plate solar collector using average temperature rise and airflow rate was presented.
