실험 계획법을 이용한 고속 반활주선의 부가물 최적화 (A Study on the Appendages Optimization of a High Speed Semi-Planing Monohull using DOE)

  • The resistance of a high speed monohull can be dramatically increased at the high speed range due to the severe stern trim, spray formation and hull bottom pressure irregularity etc. In order to avoid these demerits associated with this resistance increase, various appendages such as the stern wedge, vertical wedge, stern flap, spray strip etc. have been studied. Each of appendage can control the trim angle and/or improve the resistance performance. If these appendages are combined for finding the maximal resistance reduction, there are enormous combination selections. This paper presents the DOE(Design of experiment) using an orthogonal array in order to decrease the model tests finding the optimum appendage combination. And we evaluate that the method introduced in this paper makes the optimal combination of appendages efficient and time-saving by applying to high speed semi-planing monohull. Here, the maximum speed and the least fuel expense are adopted as the decision criteria.

  • The high speed machining center(HMC) has been widely applied to manufacture a die and trial product in many machine industry. Because the evaluation for HMC is not sufficiently performed and the efficient cutting conditions can't be selected, a peat loss has been caused in the cost aspect. In this study, the need of preliminary running time and unstable spindle speed is presented by the analysis of acceleration in idling. The Machinability for the TiA1N coated flat end mill and STD11 (H$\sub$R/C60) is evaluated from the trends of tool wear and cutting force according to cutting conditions . The resonance spindle speed is identified through the tool wear and natural frequency test.

파이프라인 재귀적인 기술을 이용한 면적 효율적인 Reed-Solomon 복호기의 설계 (Design of an Area-Efficient Reed-Solomon Decoder using Pipelined Recursive Technique)

  • 본 논문은 무선 및 초고속 광통신등 다양한 통신 시스템에서 사용되는 고속 Reed-Solomon (RS) 복호기의 하드웨어 면적을 줄인 새로운 구조를 소개한다. 특히 folding 기술을 이용하여 높은 처리율(throughput)과 적은 하드웨어 복잡도(hardware complexity)를 가지고 있는 새로운 PrME (Pipelined recursive Modified Euclidean) 구조를 제안한다 제안된 PrME 구조는 일반적으로 사용되는 systolic-array 그리고 완전한 병렬(fully-parallel) 구조와 비교하여 하드웨어 복잡도를 약 80$\%$정도 줄일 수 있다. 제안된 RS 복호기는 1.2 V의 공급전압과 0.13-um CMOS 기술을 사용하여 설계하고 구현하였는데, 총 24,600개의 게이트수, 5-Gbit/s의 데이터 처리율과 클락 주파수 625 MHz에서 동작함을 보여준다. 제안된 면적 효율적인 PrME 구조에 기반한 RS 복호기는 초고속 광통신뿐만 아니라 무선통신을 위한 차세대 FEC구조 등에 바로 적용될 수 있을 것이다.

  • This paper proposes an efficient fault diagnosis for digital circuits using multilayer neural networks. The efficient learning algorithm is also proposed for the multilayer neural network, which is combined the steepest descent for high-speed optimization and the dynamic tunneling for global optimization. The fault-diagnosis system using the multilayer neural network of the proposed algorithm has been applied to the parity generator circuit. The simulation results shows that the proposed system is higher convergence speed and rate, in comparision with system using the backpropagation algorithm based on the gradient descent.

풀터치 휴대폰의 플릭(Flick) 성능에 대한 평가 및 가이드라인 (Guidelines for Satisfactory Flick Performances in Touch Screen Mobile Phone)

  • The gesture 'Flick' is the most fundamental and important part for efficient interactions in the touch screen that are being extensively applied to mobile phones. This study investigated users' satisfaction of the flick operation in representative touch phones, and measured their performances with established three measures: gap between finger and initial cursor, the number of moved lists per 0.2 seconds, and the number of moved lists after ten continuous flicks. The measurement was performed with high speed camera and motion analysis software. The flick movement in mobile phone with high users' satisfaction showed that the gap between finger and cursor positions was less and the speed reached high within 0.6 seconds quickly and then was drastically slow down. Especially, maximal and common time intervals between continuous flicks were measured with an experiment. Based on the evaluation and measurement, several design guidelines for efficient flick performances were suggested.

  • Many changes in the railway environment has directly affected to the railway company. To cope immediately with the influence of environment and to promote productivity, the railway company has to introduce an efficient train operation system and related core technologies. The railway system is composed or large-scale infrastructures ann high-cost trains. Simulation method is one or core technologies and also is efficient tool for planning and analyzing this kind of complex system. The purpose of this research is to develop multi-train traffic simulator considering high-speed train for GyongBu-Line. To achieve this objective, the elements of railway system was analyzed, and as a result, a data structure modeling for the railway system such as rail-Tine infrastructure, rain, timetable and operational route is presented. The developed simulator is composed of three major part : input-module, main-module, and output module. The concept and brief explanation of each module will be treated.

SPH 기법을 이용한 주조공정 용탕 주입 유동 해석 (Molten Metal Flow Analysis of Casting Process Using SPH Method)

  • It is important to develop more efficient and productive casting processes for an automated high precision molten-metal casting system. Detailed analysis of molten-metal flow in the casting process by the numerical approach will help to optimize the control of a ladle. In this study, the smoothed particle hydrodynamics method was applied to analyze casting flow characteristics with different tilting angular speed and initial molten-metal level. The smoothed particle hydrodynamics technique has advantages to easily handle non-linear free surface behavior with the absence of a computational mesh. We found that tilting angular speed has relatively greater effect on the casting flowrate and that the effect of the initial molten-metal level is only minor. Further extensive study will be necessary to find an optimal condition for high efficient casting system.

  • An efficient architecture for the reduction of complexity in forward quantization of H.264/AVC is presented in this paper. Since the multiplication operation in forward quantization plays crucial role in complexity of algorithm. More efficient quantization architecture with simplified high speed multiplier is proposed. It uses the modification of the quantization operation and the high speed multiplier is applied for simplification of quantization process.

Efficient navigation of mobile robot based on the robot's experience in human co-existing environment

  • In this paper, it is shown how a mobile robot can navigate with high speed in dynamic real environment. In order to achieve high speed and safe navigation, a robot collects environmental information. A robot empirically memorizes locations of high risk due to the abrupt appearance of dynamic obstacles. After collecting sufficient data, a robot navigates in high speed in safe regions. This fact implies that the robot accumulates location dependent environmental information and the robot exploits its experiences in order to improve its navigation performance. This paper proposes a computational scheme how a robot can distinguish regions of high risk. Then, we focus on velocity control in order to achieve high speed navigation. The proposed scheme is experimentally tested in real office building. The experimental results clearly show that the proposed scheme is useful for improving a performance of autonomous navigation. Although the scope of this paper is limited to the velocity control in order to deal with unexpected obstacles, this paper points out a new direction towards the intelligent behavior control of autonomous robots based on the robot's experience.

  • The introduction of high speed railway(KTX) in Korea after the Korean high speed train through the KTX-II of the development is being run is made. Thus the demand for the railway technology advances and high performance, Korean government promoted the development of the next-generation high speed train system(HEMU-400X). In addition to the production of train system essential element of the train through an on-line test is to evaluate the performance. Through the on-line test of the train in order to evaluate the performance test items should be selected first and need to the test procedures are required. In addition, an Overall Measuring System(OMS) to measure the performance of the train system should be established. In this study for the on-line test of the HEMU-400X test items was selected for detailed measurements and performance evaluation of a comprehensive and efficient trains to test an OMS for the development are discussed.
