순(純) 알루미늄 V형(型) 및 Finned Casting의 응고(凝固)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (The Study on the Solidification of V-Section and Finned Casting by Use of Pure Aluminum)

  • The progression of the solidification wave front in V-section and finned casting was studied by use of the pour-out test, employed with high. Purity aluminum. The results obtained were as follows; a) The shape of solidification wave front at the inside and outside corners did not change according to solidification time, but it changes according to the corner angles at a given molding and melting condition. b) The cooling fin effect could be repserented as functions of solidification time and fin sise, and this result could be applied to enhance the accuracy of the section modulus method in the design of T and V section.

공정 및 주조 변수의 AC4C 알루미늄 합금 용탕의 로터리 degasser를 이용한 탈가스 처리 결과에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Process and Casting Variables on the Results of Degassing AC4C Aluminum Alloy Melt by Using Rotary Degasser)

  • The effect of various factors on the results of degassing of AC4C aluminum alloy melt by using rotary degasser were investigated. The difference between the effects of nitrogen gases of commercial pure and high purity grades on the degassing results was not significant. The optimum degassing condition was obtained. The effect of holding and degassing temperature was not significant, either. The result of degassing was deteriorated by the modification treatment of eutectic silicon, meanwhile improved by the grain refining. The effect of the latter was stronger than that of the former when the melt was treated simultaneously. The volume fractions of hydrogen porosity of the castings obtained from the molds with water moisture such as natural and green sand molds were much higher than those from the molds without that such as pep-set and $CO_2$ molds.

Mineralogical Analysis and Mechano-Chemical Purification of Natural Silica Ore for High Purity Silica Powder

  • To produce 4N grade high-purity silica powder from natural ore, the mineralogical characteristics of natural silica ore were investigated and their effects on the purification process were revealed. The Chinese silica mineral ore used was composed of iron and aluminum as main impurities and calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, and titanium as trace impurities; these trace impurities generally exist as either single oxides or complex oxides. It was confirmed that liberation and acidic washing of the impurities were highly dependent on the particle size of the ground silica ore and on its mineralogical characteristics such as the distribution and phases of existing impurities. It is suggested that appropriate size reduction of silica ore should be realized for optimized purification according to the origin of the natural silica ore. A single step purification process, the mechano-chemical washing (MCW) process, was proposed and verified in comparison with the conventional multi step washing process.

  • High purity(99.99%) spherical particles of hydrated Basic Aluminum Salts(BAS) were prepared by a homogeneous precipitation process utilizing the urea decomposition reaction and characterized by XRD, SEM, TG-DTA, IR and PSA methods. Amorphous hydrated BAS was precipitated in the range of pH 4~6. The molar ratio [Al3+]/[SO42-] for the precipitate particles was about 3.7. With increasing the concentration of aluminum sulfate the precipitation of the hydrated BAS occurred slowly and the precipitate particles with a narrow size distribution were fine(1-2${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in diameter). At temperatures in the range 400$^{\circ}$to 95$0^{\circ}C$, desulfurization and dehydroxylization resulted in weight loss with 22%. When the precipitate particles were thermally treated, the crystlline ${\gamma}$-Al2O3 was identifited by XRD at 50$0^{\circ}C$ and ${\gamma}$-Al2O3 particles were transformed into $\alpha$-Al2O3 at 100$0^{\circ}C$. A vermicular network was produced by calcining at 125$0^{\circ}C$ for 30min.

알루미늄 음극박의 에치 피트 성장 (Growth of Etch Pits on Aluminium Cathode Film)

  • The wider surface of the aluminum foil, electrochemically very important and it is necessary to increase the surface area. A study has been made of the fabrication condition for etching cube texture of high purity aluminium foil and of electrochemical etching of the aluminium foil. In the present work, it is shown there exists a relation between the influence of the pre-treatment time in the NaOH & HCI solution and $H_2SO_4$ concentration in the conversion solution. Also effect of temperature during AC etching was also studied. Result of the etched aluminum film is shown in the typical SEM images. Its electrochemical characteristics were investigated by cyclic voltammetry. And effects of current density and frequency is also reported. Cyclic voltammogram showed that the protective oxide film was formedon the inner surfaces of etch pit. the frequency influence resistance of oxide film in AC etching.

  • 탄소환원질화법에 의해 합성된 질화알루미늄의 물성은 출발물질의 종류, 액상$.$기상 반응물질의 양, 분위기 그리고 합성온도에 따라서 많은 차이를 나타내었다 질화알루미늄 합성을 위하여 Al원으로는 $\alpha$-A1$_2$O$_3$를 사용하였고 환원제로는 카본 블랙을 사용하였으며, 기상반응을 유도하기 위하여 AlF$_3$를 사용하여 고순도 질소분위기에서 실험을 행하였다. 또한 액상반응 시 미세구조상의 변화를 확인하기 위하여 금속 알루미늄을 첨가하여 실험을 행하였다. 질화알루미늄이 생성과 침상형 휘스커상의 형상은 1$600^{\circ}C$의 온도에서 가장 잘 나타났으며 열처리 온도의 상승은 오히려 휘스커상의 형성을 방해하고 있음을 보여주었다. 침상형 휘스커의 합성에 가장 큰 영향을 주는 것은 기상반응을 일으키는 AlF$_3$ 첨가이며, AlF$_3$의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 침상형 휘스커상을 확인하였다. 액상반응을 위한 금속 알루미늄 첨가는 전체의 15wt%까지는 침상형 휘스커가 증가하고 있음을 나타내었으나 l5wt% 이상으로 첨가하는 경우 오히려 휘스커가 감소하는 것으로 나타났다.

알칼리 용액에서 알루미늄의 부식속도 측정 (Measurement of the Corrosion Rate of Aluminum in Alkaline Solution)

  • 본 연구에서는 알칼리 용액에서 알루미늄의 부식속도를 측정하면서, 합금원소, 알칼리도(KOH농도),용액온도, 그리고 용액에 첨가하는 부식 억제제의 종류와 그 농도 등이 미치는 영향에 대해 조사하였다. 알루미늄 제품에 따라서는 순도 $99\%$ 이상인 AA-1050의 부식속도가 가장 낮은 반면에 Mg나 Mn이 포함된 합금은 상대적으로 높게 측정되었다. KOH 수용액에 ZnO를 포화농도로 첨가하면 부식속도가 $50\%$ 이상 억제되는 효과가 나타났지만. ZnAc는 부식 억제제로서 역할하지 못하였다. 알칼리도와 용액온도가 높을수록 ZnO의 부식 억제효과는 상승하였다 부식속도는 KOH농도에 대해 1차 선형 증가함수 그리고 온도 역수에 대해 지수형 감소함수로 나타났다. SEM과 EDS를 사용하여 부식 표면에 부착된 물질의 성분을 분석하였으며, XRD의 기기분석을 통하여 KOH 용액에서의 알루미늄의 부식 생성물이 $Al(OH)_3$임을 확인하였다.

메조포러스 알루미나를 이용한 AlN 분말 제조 및 특성분석 (Preparation of AlN Powder Using Mesoporous Alumina and Its Characterization)

  • Aluminum nitride was synthesized using a carbothermal method from mesoporous alumina having a high surface area (> $1,000m^2/g$) as an aluminum source and CNTs (carbon nano tubes) as a carbon source. In this case the mesoporous alumina was used as the starting material instead of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ with the expectation that the mesopores in mesoporous alumina act as channels for N2 gas and elimination of CO generated as by-product. It is also expected that the synthetic temperature should be lower compared to the use of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ as a starting material due to its high surface area. The crystallinity of the produced aluminum nitride was studied by XRD and FT-IR, and the microstructure was investigated by FE-SEM. Also the purity of the aluminum nitride was analyzed through N/O determinator and ICP analysis.

Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Rapidly Solidified Powder Metallurgy Al-Fe-V-Si-X Alloys

  • High heat-resistant Al-Fe-V-Si and Al-Fe-V-Si-X rapidly solidified powder metallurgy (RS P/M) alloys have been developed under well-controlled high purity argon gas atmosphere. The $Al_{90.49}Fe_{6.45}V_{0.68}Si_{2.38}$ (at. %) RS P/M alloy exhibited high elevated-temperature strength exceeding 300 MPa and good ductility with elongation of 6 % at 573 K. Reduction of $H_2O$ partical pressure in P/M processing atmosphere led to improvement in mechanical properties of the powder-consolidated alloys under elevated-temperature service conditions. Ti addition to the Al-Fe-V-Si conduced to enhancement of the strength at room temperature. The tensile yeild strength and ultimate strenght were 545 MPa and 722 MPa, respectively.

자동차용 폐 리튬 이차전지 모듈의 안정적 해체와 알루미늄 박막으로부터 양극활물질의 분리공정 개발 (Safe Decomposition of the Vehicle Waste Battery Module and Development of Separation Process of Cathode Active Material from Aluminum Thin Film)

  • 본 연구는 자동차 폐리튬 이차전지의 모듈로부터 재생할 수 있는 자원을 효율적으로 회수하는 방법을 개발하는 것이다. 모듈의 셀은 구리 박막, 알루미늄 박막, 그리고 이들 사이는 폴리머 재질의 격막으로 이루어져 있다. 셀은 특별히 제작한 글러브 상자 안에서 그리고 여러 번의 단계를 거쳐 손상 없이 완전히 해체 하였다. 우선적으로 양극활물질은 400 ℃에서 열처리하여 알루미늄 박막으로부터 분리하였다. 그런 후 분리된 양극활물질은 잔류되어 있는 탄소 성분을 제거하기 위해 800 ℃에서의 소성 후에 최종적으로 높은 순도로 회수되었다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 해서, 알루미늄 박막으로부터 양극활물질을 구성하고 있는 코발트(Co), 니켈(Ni), 망간(Mn), 리튬(Li)과 같은 희유금속들을 80% 이상 회수할 수 있었다.
