  • This paper describes the optimal design, construction and performance evaluation of voltage divider used in high power testing laboratory for voltage measuring system. These dividers, which are of R, C, R&C type voltage dividers, the voltage to be measured range from voltage to several ten kilovolts, the frequency of the signals has a bandwidth from DC to megaHertz Measuring transient voltage and currents in the high voltage power laboratory is generally accompanied by electromagnetic interface and induced noise. above all, the measuring capabilities of voltage measuring system are dependent upon short response time and it must be as free as possible of inductive effects. In this paper presents both characteristic of voltage divider and design of voltage measuring system.

The Feasibility Study on a High-Temperature Application of the Magnetostrictive Transducer Employing a Thin Fe-Co Alloy Patch

  • The on-line monitoring for the wall thinning in secondary system has been considered one of main issues for the safety of nuclear power plants. To establish the on-line monitoring technique for the pipe wall thinning, the development of the ultrasonic transducer working in high-temperature is very important. In this investigation, the magnetostrictive transducer is concerned for high temperature condition up to $300^{\circ}C$. The magnetostrictive transducer has many advantages such as high working temperature, durability, cost-effectiveness, and shear waves, most of all. A thin Fe-Co alloy patch whose Curie temperature is over $900^{\circ}C$ was employed as a ferromagnetic material for magnetostriction. Wave transduction experiments in various temperature were carried out and the effect of bias magnets was considered together with the dry coupling performance of the transducer. From experimental results, consequently, it was found that the magnetostrictive transducer works stable even in high temperature up to $300^{\circ}C$ and can be a promising method for the on-line monitoring of the wall thinning in nuclear power plants.

  • A current transformer for measuring current in high power testing laboratory is exactly proportional to the current including D.C component due to electrical transient. But, current transformer isn't designed to consider D.C component, therefore when data acquisition system measure that current. the error is increased because of saturation of core. This paper describe the concept of transient factor and how to design the current transformer.

  • 국방 분야의 소프트웨어는 해당 도메인의 특성상 높은 수준의 품질을 요한다. 이를 보장하기 위해서는 잘 정의된 프로세스를 기반으로 하는 개발 및 시험 활동들이 이루어져야 한다. 소프트웨어 획득 과정에서 이들 활동들이 뒷받침되지 못하면 획득된 소프트웨어의 품질이 낮고, 군의 전투력이 저하된다. 본 논문에서는 시험 프로세스 개선을 통해 국방 소프트웨어의 품질을 향상하기 위한 국방 시험 성숙도 모델(MND-TMM: Ministry of National Defense-Testing Maturity Model)을 제안하고 설계된 내용을 소개한다. MND-TMM은 국방 도메인에서 시험과 관련된 문제점을 해결하기 위해 국방 소프트웨어, 국방 소프트웨어 개발 프로세스, 국방 소프트웨어 시험 프로세스를 반영하여 구성되었다. MND-TMM은 5개의 수준의 성숙도와 4개의 범주로 구성되며 각 범주에는 관련 시험 프로세스 영역(TPA: Testing Process Area)들이 포함된다. MND-TMM은 국방 소프트웨어 조직의 시험 성숙도를 평가하는 것을 돕고 소프트웨어 테스팅 프로세스를 개선하기 위한 가이드라인을 제공할 것으로 기대된다.

Vulnerability Analysis on a VPN for a Remote Monitoring System

  • 14 Pressurized Water Reactors (PWR) in Korea use a remote monitoring system (RMS), which have been used in Korea since 1998. A Memorandum of Understanding on Remote Monitoring, based on Enhanced Cooperation on PWRs, was signed at the 10th Safeguards Review Meeting in October 2001 between the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and Ministry Of Science and Technology (MOST). Thereafter, all PWR power plants applied for remote monitoring systems. However, the existing method is high cost (involving expensive telephone costs). So, it was eventually applied to an Internet system for Remote Monitoring. According to the Internet-based Virtual Private Network (VPN) applied to Remote Monitoring, the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) came to an agreement with the IAEA, using a Member State Support Program (MSSP). Phase I is a Lab test. Phase II is to apply it to a target power plant. Phase III is to apply it to all the power plants. This paper reports on the penetration testing of Phase I. Phase I involved both domestic testing and international testing. The target of the testing consisted of a Surveillance Digital Integrated System (SDIS) Server, IAEA Server and TCNC (Technology Center for Nuclear Control) Server. In each system, Virtual Private Network (VPN) system hardware was installed. The penetration of the three systems and the three VPNs was tested. The domestic test involved two hacking scenarios: hacking from the outside and hacking from the inside. The international test involved one scenario from the outside. The results of tests demonstrated that the VPN hardware provided a good defense against hacking. We verified that there was no invasion of the system (SDIS Server and VPN; TCNC Server and VPN; and IAEA Server and VPN) via penetration testing.

  • In this paper describes the development testing results of high density High Voltage Power Supply(HVPS) that employ microwave TWTs. The HVPS consist of number of modules connected in series. A new design that adapt resonant circuit and high density pulse transformer to the high voltage modules makes the HVPS much more reliable. Also High voltage Solid-State modulation using fast switching devices(FET's) and the test results of modulator modules development are represented.

  • REcent research about current testing($\textrm{I}_{DDQ}$ testing) has been emphasizing that $\textrm{I}_{DDQ}$ testing in addition to the logical voltage testing is necessary to increase the fault coverage. The $\textrm{I}_{DDQ}$. testing can detect physical faults other than the classical stuck-at type fault, which affect reliability. One of the most critical issues in the $\textrm{I}_{DDQ}$ testing is to insert a built-in current sensor (BICS) that can detect abnormal static currents from the power supply or to the ground. This paper presents a new BICS for internal current testing for large CMOS logic circuits. The proposed BICS uses a single phase clock to minimize the hardware overhead. It detects faulty current flowing and converts it into a corresponding logic voltage level to make converts it into a corresponding logic voltage level to make it possible to use the conventional voltage testing techniqeus. By using current mirroring technique, the proposed BICS can work at very high speed. Because the proposed BICS almost does not affects normal operation of CUT(circuit under test), it can be used to a very large circuit without circuit partitioning. By altenating the operational modes, a circuit can be $\textrm{I}_{DDQ}$-tested as a kind of self-testing fashion by using the proposed BICS.

  • The characteristic responds of load respect to various disturbances which can usually be occurred on actual power system is very important to analyze performance and to improve load with high-technology. The disturbance power supply is designed to provide wide range of power to testing load. This device uses PLC technology to dynamic characteristic experiment and CVVF to change frequency. Also this instrument includes data acquisition system to obtain reliable data from experiment.

A GaAs Power MESFET Operating at 3.3V Drain Voltage for Digital Hand-Held Phone

  • A GaAs power metal semiconductor field effect transistor (MESFET) operating at a voltage as low as 3.3V has been developed with the best performance for digital handheld phone. The device has been fabricated on an epitaxial layer with a low-high doped structure grown by molecular beam epitaxy. The MESFET, fabricated using $0.8{\mu}m$ design rule, showed a maximum drain current density of 330 mA/mm at $V_{gs}$ =0.5V and a gate-to-drain breakdown volt-age of 28 V. The MESFET tested at a 3.3 V drain bias and a 900 MHz operation frequency displayed an output power of 32.5-dBm and a power added efficiency of 68%. The associate power gain at 20 dBm input power and the linear gain were 12.5dB and 16.5dB, respectively. Two tone testing measured at 900.00MHz and 900.03MHz showed that a third-order intercept point is 49.5 dBm. The power MESFET developed in this work is expected to be useful as a power amplifying device for digital hand-held phone because the high linear gain can deliver a high power added efficiency in the linear operation region of output power and the high third-order intercept point can reduce the third-order intermodulation.
