주택에서의 각 생활행위에 대응하는 조명환경에 관한 실험연구 (An Experiment on Lighting Environment for some Behavior in Housing)

  • The present study performed subjective evaluation experiments using slides and scale down models in order to propose guidelines for lighting environment desirable for each behavior in the house. The evaluation measure was composed of 20 mood items and 15 behavior items. As for experiment methods, the slide experiment used SD method, and the scale down model experiment used Scheffe's paired comparison. The results of this study are as follows. 1) Desirable lighting environment for working and talking is active atmosphere. 2) Lighting environment desirable far relaxation is to heighten lighting contrast using candescent lamps and local lights. In other words, active atmosphere, which is desirable for working and talking, is not desirable for relaxation. 3) Lighting for working requires bright illuminance and high color temperature(6000k). 4) Lighting for relaxation requires somewhat low brightness regardless of color temperature. If the light is bright it is better to use lamps of low color temperature. 5) for conversation, bright illuminance is more desirable than dark one, and the most adequate color temperature is 4000K.

영상 화질 개선을 위한 레티넥스 기반 영상 보정 기법 (Color Image Compensation Method Based on Retinex For Improving Visual Image Quality)

  • In modern days, many of the images are captured by using various devices, such as PDA, digital camera, or cell phone camera. Because all these devise have a limited dynamic range, images captured in real world scenes with high dynamic ranges usually exhibit poor visibility and low contrast, which may make important image features lost or hard to tell by human viewers. In this paper, the efficient color image enhancement method is presented. Experimental result show that the proposed method yields better performance of color enhancement over the previous work for test color images.

Hue Preserved Multi-scale Retinex to Improve Color Reproduction

  • In recent studies on tone reproduction with the objective of reproducing natural looking colors in digital images, an integrated multi-scale retinex (IMSR) has produced great naturalness in the resulting images. Most methods, including IMSR, work in RGB or quasi-RGB color spaces. As such, this produces hue distortion from the perspective of the human visual system. Accordingly, this paper proposes the hue preserved multi-scale Retinex (HPMSR) method to obtain a high contrast and naturalness. The proposed method enhanced the $L^*$ and saturation values in CIELAB color space. As a result, the visibility in dark shadows in the resulting images was improved.

HDR image display combines weighted least square filtering with color appearance model

  • Recently high dynamic range imaging technique is hot issue in computer graphic area. We present a progressive tone mapping algorithm, which is based on weighted least squares optimization framework. Our approach combines weighted leastsquaresfiltering with iCAM06, for showing more perceptual high dynamic range images in conventional display, while avoiding visual halo artifacts. We decompose high dynamic range image into base layer and detail layer. The base layer has large scale variation, it is obtained by using weighted least squares filtering, and then the base layer incorporates iCAM06 model. Then, adaptive compression on the base layer according to human visual system. Only the base layer reduces contrast, and preserving detail. The resultshows more perceptual color appearance and preserve fine detail, while avoiding common artifacts.

색상대비 물방울무늬의 크기와 면적비 변화에 따른 원피스 드레스 착용자의 이미지 연구 (A Study of the Changes in Dress Wearers' Images in Relationto the Changes in the Size and Area Ratio of Polka Dots Relative to Coloration)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of dot pattern size(0.8, 1.8, 2.5, 5, 8), color combination(BG/R, Y/B), area-ratio on image formation. Sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 20 color pictures manipulated with the combination of dot pattern size, color combination, and area-ratio using computer simulation. The subjects were 240 female undergraduates living in Gyeongnam-do. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 5 different components, visibility, attractiveness, cuteness, stability and high class image. In the cuteness, color combination, dot pattern size showed independent effect. In the stability, area-ratio, dot pattern size showed independent effect. Interaction effects of color and area-ratio combination was significant on cuteness. For visibility image 8cm yellow dot/blue background, for attractiveness image BG/R coloration, for cuteness image Y/B coloration and for stability image 0.8cm yellow dot/blue background were effective. According to the variation of dot pattern size, color combination and area-ratio, it was investigated that the images for a dress wearer were expressed diversely, were shown differently in image dimensions, and could be produced to different images.

비파괴식 검사를 통한 선글라스의 품질에 관한 연구 (Properties of Sunglass Lenses by Non-Destructive Test for the Sunglass Standards)

  • 시중에서 시판되고 있는 완성품 선글라스를 고가형 23개, 저가형 55개를 대상으로 비파괴식 검사를 통하여 선글라스의 품질에 대한 분석을 행하였다. 선글라스렌즈의 일반적 광학성질은 규격을 대체적으로 만족할 정도였으며, 재질면에서 HIGH-type은 glass의 비율이 그리고 LOW-type은 Acrylate의 비율이 높았다. HIGH-type의 투과색은 무채색에 근접하였으나 LOW-type은 570 nm와 485 nm를 잊는 선상에 넓게 분포되었다. 렌즈 투과색의 자극순도의 규정을 벗어난 경우는 HIGH-type에서 7%, LOW-type에서 18%였다. UV/VIS cut-off는 HIGH-type의 경우에 350 nm, 380 nm, 400 nm를 초과하는 그룹으로 대별되었으며 LOW-type에서는 350 nm 이하 영역에 있는 경우가 6%에 달하였다. erythemal UV의 투과특성에 있어서 HIGH-type의 경우에는 모두 규격을 만족시켰으나 LOW-type의 경우에는 DIN 규격에서 최대 5개의 fail을 보였다. 또한 Near UV의 투과특성은 HIGH-type의 선글라스에서 더 많은 fail을 보였다. IR 투과특성에서는 LOW-type이 HIGH-type보다 열등한 특성을 보였다. 신호등 인지도의 경우에 HIGH-type은 모두 규격을 만족시켰지만 LOW-type은 21.8%가 만족시키지 못하였다. 대비감도 시력은 L의 증가와 함께 증가하였으며, 측정 거리의 감소와 함께 높아졌다. a와 b의 변화에 따른 대비감도 시력은 a-b 교점에 근접하는 경우 높은 값을 보였다. 선글라스 렌즈의 특성은 투과색, UV, IR, 신호등 가시도, 재질, 대비감도 시력 등의 종합적인 평가에 의해서 이뤄져야 하며 한가지 규격의 획일적 적용을 지양해야 한다. 비파괴식 선글라스 렌즈의 분석에 있어서 HIGH-type의 경우가 LOW-type에 비하여 종합적인 특성이 우수하였다.

영화 <박쥐>, <마더>의 색채 이미지 연구 - 의상과 배경을 중심으로 - (A Study on the Color Images of the Films "Thirst" and "Mother" - With a Focus on Costumes and Background -)

  • This study investigated the colors of the costumes and backgrounds of characters in the films "Thirst" and "Mother" from an integrated perspective. As a study method, ten scenes per film, which contained the characters and backgrounds from the start to the end of the DVDs of "Thirst" and "Mother" were examined. For integrated color analysis of the costumes and backgrounds, the colors of the captured scenes were simplified to extract representative colors, and then color palettes were presented according to the ratio of area. The colors of costumes were analyzed by recognition through the eyes based on the I.R.I. Hue and Tone 120. Furthermore, the color images of the two films were analyzed using the I.R.I. adjective image scales and the I.R.I. color image scales. The colors of the film "Thirst" were generally low in brightness and high in chroma. They are characterized by dark, gloomy toned-down background in the first half, highly chromatic vivid background in the second half, and the contrast of purple blue colors and red colors. The colors of the film "Mother" are characterized by complementary colors between background and costume colors, and various tones of blue and green colors. From the aspect of color tones, they were relatively high in brightness compared to the film "Thirst" but low in chroma. On the I.R.I. adjective image scale, contrasting adjectives were extracted simultaneously from the film "Thirst" as the adjectives were evenly distributed at hard, dynamic and static, whereas the adjectives extracted from the film "Mother" were distributed at hard and statistic. On the I.R.I. color image scale, both films were located at hard, but the film "Thirst" was located at dynamic whereas the film "Mother" was located at static.

Deciphering Diverse Color Distribution Functions of Globular Cluster Systems

  • The color distribution functions (CDFs) of globular clusters (GCs) in individual early-type galaxies show great diversity in their morphology. Based on the conventional "linear" relationship between colors and metallicities of GCs, the inferred GC metallicity distribution functions and thus their formation histories should be as diverse as they appear. In contrast, an alternative scenario rooted in the "nonlinear" nature of the color-to-metallicity transformation finds the various CDFs pointing systematically to a simple picture, i.e., such a high degree of variety stems predominately from only one parameter, the mean metallicity of GCs. The simulated CDFs of GCs aimed to reproduce 67 massive early-type galaxies from the ACS Virgo & Fornax Cluster Survey show that over 70% of the CDFs concur fully with the nonlinearity scenario. We discuss our new findings in terms of early-type galaxy formation in the cluster environment.

조각보의 조형성을 응용한 현대복식디자인 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Developing the Modern Fashion Design with the Application of Plasticity of Patchwork Wrapping Cloth)

  • This study aims to prove that traditional patchwork wrapping cloth can be a creative motive for modem fashion, and the application of it can be a way of expressing not only the pride in our cultural heritage but also the originality of fashion design. The analysis of the plasticity of 108 patchwork wrapping clothes has come up with the following findings: Firstly, the plane structure consists of 41 basic forms and 67 applied ones. Secondly, 61 contrast color harmony and 47 similarity color harmony. Thirdly, the fabric consists of 88 silk clothes, 19 ramie clothes, and 1 silk and ramie cloth. Fourthly, 47 unlined clothes and 61 lined ones. The study also expresses the analyzed plasticity of patchwork wrapping cloth for fashion with the following findings: Firstly, basic plane structures, contrast color harmony, silk cloth and the press flower coating technique become one piece dress to express splendid and elegant image. Secondly, application plane structures, similarity color harmony of natural dyeing method using persimmon, ramie cloth and the press flower coating and over lock technique become a jacket and a blouse to express calm and dynamic image. Thirdly, the needling and over lock technique used to patch clothes has become a desirable way to express fabric with unique surface effects. Fourthly, the press flower coating which modernizes embroidery in patchwork wrapping. cloth has become a new technique which can create high values with its extended the visual effects of the material. Fifthly, Patchwork wrapping cloth in Chosun Dynasty has now become a motive for modem fashion design to express tradition and creation.

색채 항상성 방법과 경계 영역 기반 히스토그램 평활화 방법을 이용한 영상의 화질 향상 방법 (An Image Enhancement Algorithm based on Color Constancy and Histogram Equalization using Edge Region)

  • 고선명 영상에 대한 수요가 증가하면서 다양한 방면에서 좀 더 선명하고 큰 영상을 보고 촬영하려는 요구가 늘어나고 있다. 특히 디스플레이 장치의 크기가 커지고 이에 따라 영상의 해상도가 커지면서 영상에서 나타나는 잡음이나 화질 저하가 이전에 비하여 더욱 더 눈에 띄게 나타나게 되었다. 본 논문에서 고선명 영상과 같이 해상도가 큰 영상의 색상과 명암 대비를 효과적이고 빠르게 개선하기 위한 방법을 제안한다. 고해상도 영상에서 처리 속도를 높이면서 효과적으로 화질 향상 방법을 적용하기 위해 고해상도 영상을 축소시킨 영상에서 화질 향상 방법에 필요한 변수를 추출해낸다. 영상의 색상을 향상시키기 위해 기존의 색채 항상성 방법을 개선시킨 방법을 적용하였고 명암 대비를 향상시키기 위해 경계 영역을 활용한 변형 히스토그램 평활화 방법을 적용하였다. 마지막으로 고해상도 영상을 촬영할 수 있는 디지털 캠코더를 이용하여 촬영한 실험 영상으로 제안하는 방법의 성능을 분석하였다.
