윤활유 종류에 따른 주축 열변위의 특성 평가 (Characteristics Evaluation of Spindle Thermal Displacement with kinds of Lubrication Oil)

  • High speed precision machines have been introduced to the CNC industry in order to improve productivity, shorten the appointed date of delivery and reduce the prime cost. High speed machines have more functions then general machines, and they were proved in performance. The production and sales of the high speed machines have been increased not only in domestic market but also all over the world. Accordingly, machines are faster, there are lots of problems to be solved. One of the most difficult problems is the thermal displacement on the main spindle due to generated heat while the spindle is rotated in high speed. Since the thermal displacement directly effects the quality of the machined parts, utmost efforts to minimize the thermal displacement have to be given from the beginning of designing machines. In practice, variety of methods are attempted and practiced to minimize the thermal displacement such as design of symmetrical frame, adoption of high speed bearings, application of compensation system using non-contact sensor and use of forced circulating lubrication system with oil cooler. Even if these variable methods have been practically used in the industrial field, generated heat has not been perfectly prevented. Hence, in this paper, the characteristics of thermal displacement were investigated when several kinds of oil were tested for a high speed machine with forced circulating lubrication system within the same atmosphere and under the same conditions.

  • In this study, a motor-integrated high-speed spindle system with .psi. 65mm*25,000rpm is developed by introducing the oil-jet lubrication method,ceramic angular contact ball bearing, a built-in motor and so on. And oil-jet lubrication experiments for evaluating the system performance are performed under various operation conditions. Especially, in order to establish the oil-jet lubrication conditions related to the development of a high-speed spindle system, the effects of oil supply rate and rotational spindle speed are investigated on the temperature rise, temperature distribution,motor current and so on.

초고속 복합재료 공기정압 주축의 설계 (Design of High Speed Composite Air Spindle System)

  • 공기정압 주축 시스템의 동적 안정성을 향상시키기 위해 섬유강화 복합재료 주축 자성 분말이 함침된 에폭시 복합재료 회전자 및 알루미늄 재질의 공구 연결부로 구성된 주축 시스템을 설계 및 제작하였다. 복합재료 공기정압 주축 시스템의 최적 설계를 위해 구조의 공진 주파수와 변형량 등을 고려하여 복합재료 주축의 적층 각도와 두께를 결정하였다 해석결과 설계된 복합재료 주축 시스템은 기존의 금속 주축 시스템에 비해 36% 더 높은 공진 주파수를 가지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 계산 및 실험 결과를 통해서 섬유강화 복합재료 주축과 자성 분말이 함침된 에폭시 복합재료 회전자로 구성된 복합재료 주축-회전자 시스템은 높은 비 강성으로 인해 기존 주축 시스템의 동적특성을 향상시킬 수 있음을 확인하였다.

  • This paper presents a dynamic analysis of the high-speed spindle system for vertical machining center using finite techniques. The computed natural frequencies are compared with the measured frequencies obtained from experimental modal analysis. The results show that the bending and twisting deformations of the spindle housing dominate in the lowest modes owing to low dynamic stiffness of the housing structure. The design parameters in the analysis are : (a) panel thickness of the housing (b ) height of the housing, and (c) spindle-to-column distance of the housing. Through sensitivity analysis and optimizing simulation considering design constraints, an optimal design of the spindle system has been obtained.

  • In designing AMBs (active magnetic bearings) for high-speed spindle system, the shaft is usually assumed as a rigid rotor. For automatic tool change process, there should be a tool clamping system with drawbar using spring or hydraulic force, and the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition of support during design and manufacturing error. In this paper, the modal characteristics of drawbar in high-speed milling spindle system due to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft are analyzed by numerical method. The result shows enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1$\^$st/ bending mode of spindle.

  • In order to improve the international competitiveness of ferrule industry, the core technology of the second stage for ferrule grinding system is under developing. A high speed (10,000RPM) and high precision spindle system(Radial Runout 0.2 micrometer) bearing more cutting torque and force is designed considering the limitation of cost and size, the effect of heat, and various work-piece materials. A CAE software for machine elements and general machine system is used for preliminary evaluation and selection of design parameters. A dedicated program for the analysis of spindle system is used for final evaluation and selection of design parameter. The process how to evaluate and select using such tools are presented.

  • This paper presents the thermal characteristics analysis of a high-speed HMC(horizontal machining center) with spindle speed of 30,000rpm and fried rate of 40m/min. The spindle speed is achieved by introducing angular contact ball bearings, oil-jet lubrication method, oil jacket cooling method, and so on. The spindle system is a motor-separated type composed of the main spindle and sub-spindle which are mechanically connected by the flexible coupling. The spindles are supported by two front and rear bearings, and the built-in motor is located between the front to and rear bearings of the sub-spindle. The thermal analysis model of HMC is constructed by the finite element method, and the thermal characteristics in the design stage are estimated based on temperature distribution and heat flow under the various testing conditions related to spindle speed and feed rate.

고속 공기 스핀들 설계를 위한 근사해석과 회전체동역학의 비교 (Comparison of Approximation and Rotordynamics Solutions for Design of a High Speed Air Spindle)

  • This paper presents two methods for designing a high-speed air spindle operated over the rotational speed of 50,000 rpm. The first method is an approximate method, which assumes a symmetric spindle shape even though it is not symmetric in reality. The second is an analysis of rotordynamics using beam and solid models. The approximate method can be used to calculate the bearing load capacities, stiffness and damping coefficients, stability of the shaft system, and response of the forced excitation from the unbalanced mass. Designers can use this method to determine the dimensions of the desired spindle at the first stage of the design. The more detailed behavior of the spindle can be calculated using the rotordynamics theory using beam and solid models based on the Finite Element Method. In this paper, a spindle, with two air bearings, one motor at the end, and two air thrust bearings, is newly developed. The solutions from the two rotordynamics theories are compared with the solution obtained using the approximate method. The three calculations are in agreement, and the procedure for the design of a spindle system, supported on the externally pressurized air bearings, ispresented and discussed.

PCB드릴링용 공기 베어링 스핀들의 설계 제작 및 성능평가에 관한 연구 (A study on the design, manufacturing and performance evaluation of air bearing spindle for PCB drilling)

  • Micro drilling by high-speed air bearing spindle is very useful manufacturing technology in electronic industry For the design of high speed air bearing spindle, there are considered stability of air bearing spindle, allowable load of air bearing, run out and tooling system design for micro drill's attach and remove. According to suggested details, we designed and manufactured high-speed air bearing spindle and carried out performance estimation such as run out, temperature change in running air bearing spindle, stiffness, chucking torque. Results are follows; Run out was measured under $5{\mu}m$ at air bearing spindle revolution $20,000\sim125,000rpm$. High speed air bearing spindle's temperature rose about $20^{\circ}C$ after 5 minutes from running and then was fixed. Allowable thrust load of spindle was 17kgf. Chucking torque of collet was 15kgfcm.

유한요소법을 이용한 주축 인터페이스부의 정강성 특성 (Static Stiffness Characteristics of Main Spindle Interface using Finite Element Method)

  • High speed machining has become the main issue of metal cutting. Due to increase of the rotational speed of the spindle, problems such as the run-out errors and reduced stiffness must be overcome to improve the machining accuracy. In order to solve the problems, it is important to determine the appropriate clamping unit and tooling system. This paper presents an investigation into an analysis of static stiffness in the main spindle interface. Finite element analysis is performed by using a commercial code ANSYS according to variation of cutting force, clamping force and rotational speed. From the finite element results, it is shown that the rotational speed and clamping force mostly influence on the variation of the static stiffness in the main spindle interface.
