  • Improving the visual contrast in OLED displays is another important issue to address with a significant technological implication. The use of a gradient refractive index anode shows promise for contrast improvements in OLEDs. This talk will discuss the progress in developing gradient refractive index TCO anode for application in high contrast OLEDs.

Synthesis of High Refractive Spiroheterocyclic Derivatives Through Thioacetalization of Multi-Carbonyl Compounds

  • Preparation of several new spirocyclic mercapto derivatives is described. Thiol protection on multi-carbonyl compounds allows of high sulfur content necessary to induce high refractive index. Condensation of 1,3-dimercapto-2-propanol and cyclohexanone followed by successive oxidation and thioacetalization affords a dispirocycle with four sulfurs. Selective S,S-protection of cyclohexane-1,4-dione is achieved with 1,3-dimercapto-2-propanol and 2,3-dimercapto-1-propanol to provide dispirocycles with four sulfurs. Olefine-oxidation of norbornene gives a useful dialdehyde intermediate which is transformed to 1,3-dithiolane for a linearly-bound-cyclic molecule. Refractive index of linearly-bound-cycles was below 1.60 and dispirocycles exhibited high refractive index of 1.57-1.69.

Refractive-index Prediction for High-refractive-index Optical Glasses Based on the B2O3-La2O3-Ta2O5-SiO2 System Using Machine Learning

  • The refractive index is a key material-design parameter, especially for high-refractive-index glasses, which are used for precision optics and devices. Increased demand for high-precision optical lenses produced by the glass-mold-press (GMP) process has spurred extensive studies of proper glass materials. B2O3, SiO2, and multiple heavy-metal oxides such as Ta2O5, Nb2O5, La2O3, and Gd2O3 mostly compose the high-refractive-index glasses for GMP. However, due to many oxides including up to 10 components, it is hard to predict the refractivity solely from the composition of the glass. In this study, the refractive index of optical glasses based on the B2O3-La2O3-Ta2O5-SiO2 system is predicted using machine learning (ML) and compared to experimental data. A dataset comprising up to 271 glasses with 10 components is collected and used for training. Various ML algorithms (linear-regression, Bayesian-ridge-regression, nearest-neighbor, and random-forest models) are employed to train the data. Along with composition, the polarizability and density of the glasses are also considered independent parameters to predict the refractive index. After obtaining the best-fitting model by R2 value, the trained model is examined alongside the experimentally obtained refractive indices of B2O3-La2O3-Ta2O5-SiO2 quaternary glasses.

굴절이상도에 따른 폭주근점과 근거리 수평사위, 폭주 및 개산 여력의 연구 (A Study About N.P.C, Heterophoria and Near Convergence and Divergence by Amount of the Refractive Errors)

  • 목적: 각각의 굴절이상도에 따른 폭주근점(N.P.C), 근거리 수평사위, 근거리 폭주 개산여력을 알아보고자 하는 연구이다. 방법: 안과적 수술이나 질환이 없는 대학생 39명(평균 22.7세)을 대상으로 굴절이상도, 폭주근점, 근거리 수평사위, 근거리 폭주 및 개산여력을 측정하였다. 결과: 검사 결과를 경도, 중도, 고도 굴절이상에 따라 모건분류 정상 기대값과 비교하여 분류하였다. 폭주근점(NPC)은 경도, 중등도 모두 8 cm 이내로 검출된 반면 강도 굴절이상에서는 9.64 cm가 검출되었다. 경도 및 중등도 굴절이상도에서 근거리 수평사위에 의한 분류를 하였을 경우 내사위의 경우 근거리 개산여력이 가장 적었으며, 반면 폭주여력에서는 강한 외사위 그룹이 적게 검출되었다. 결론: 폭주여력은 내사위에서 크고 외사위에서 작은 반면, 개산여력은 내사위에서 적고 외사위에서 크게 나타났다.

Polarizing Group Attached Acrylates and Polymers Viewing High Refractive Index

  • We designed and successfully synthesized UV curable, functional acrylate monomers having a polarizing group, i.e., an electron-withdrawing and/or electron-donating group for the optical materials of high refractive index. Optical polymer films made from the functional methacrylate monomers were achieved with photo crosslinking under UV illumination. A monomer having amino and cyano groups (Dimer-CN) exhibited the highest refractive index ($n_{TE}$=1.595 at 850nm) among the studied methacrylate derivatives, due to the large polarizability of the dipolar monomer structures with electron-donating and withdrawing groups. By controlling the compositions of the functional acrylate monomer of copolymers, the refractive indices of the polymers were readily adjusted within a wide range of 1.498-1.595. The copolymers showed a high glass transition temperature $(T_g)$ and good thermal stability, which are desirable for optical applications. $T_g$ and $T_{10%}$ (10%-weight loss occurred) of the copolymers ranged from $120-140^{\circ}C$ and from $329-387^{\circ}C$, respectively.

근시성 굴절이상과 안압의 상관관계 분석 (Analysis of Correlation by Myopic Refractive Errors and Intraocular Pressure)

  • 본 연구는 근시성 굴절이상과 안압의 상관관계를 조사하였다. 연구대상자는 20대 성인 남녀 총 39명 (남17명, 여 22명) 총 78안을 대상으로 하였다. 안압은 비접촉식 안압계를 사용하여 측정하였고, 근시성 굴절이상은 경도, 중등도, 고도 근시군 3그룹으로 나누어 상관관계를 분석하였다. 대상자의 성별에 의한 안압과 굴절이상도는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았지만, 근시성 대상안의 굴절이상도가 증가할수록 안압이 증가하였고 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 또한, 경도 근시에 비해 중등도와 고도 근시에서 안압이 높게 나타나는 것은 젊은 나이에 발병할 수 있는 녹내장의 원인이 될 수 있으며, 이는 중장년층의 고도 근시에서 안압과 근시성 굴절이상도간의 상관관계에 대한 바른 인식과 이해에 관한 기초자료로 활용 될 수 있을 것이라고 생각된다.

반사형 Focal Reducer를 가지는 높은 개구수의 대물렌즈 설계 (Optical Design of a High-numerical-aperture Objective with a Reflective Focal Reducer)

  • 낮은 NA의 굴절형 대물렌즈와 반사형 focal reducer로 구성된 NA 0.5의 굴절-반사 대물렌즈를 설계하였다. 굴절형 대물렌즈로는 NA 0.25인 Lister 대물렌즈가 사용되고, 반사형 focal reducer는 구면수차, 코마, 비점수차가 보정된 2구면경계가 사용되었다. 설계된 굴절-반사 대물렌즈는 높은 NA를 가졌음에도 18 mm의 긴 작동거리와 NA 0.25의 Lister 대물렌즈보다 개선된 결상성능을 가지고 있다.

  • 저손실의 높은 편광 소멸비를 갖는 LiNbO$_3$ 도파로를 만들기 위하여 고온 양자교환 방법을 이용하였다. 이 방법으로 제작된 도파로의 굴절률 특성을 분석하기 위하여 프리즘 결합기 방법으로 도파 모드를 측정하고 IWKB(inverse WKB) 방법을 사용하여 표면 굴절률 변화와 깊이에 대한 굴절률 분포 특성을 관찰하였다. 이러한 방법으로 고온 양자교환법의 주요 인자인 양자교환 온도, LS 농도, 양자교환 시간에 대한 굴절률 변화를 분석하였다.

  • The purpose of AR and HR coating is acquire the very low reflection rate and the high reflection rate through the deposition of a thin film using the refraction ofmaterial. Basically if the high refractive material and the low refractive material are chosen and the condition for the experiment is determined, then we solve theproject with the optical design and multi thin film coating. First of all, we choose $SiO_2$for the low refractive material and $TiO_2$ for the high refractive material and apply Sputtering System easy to control the refraction rate and excellent in reconstruction to the equipment of thin film multiplication. For the control of the refraction rate and growth rate we modify RF Power and the ratio of Gas(Ar:O2), And we use Ellipsometer for estimation and analysis of the refraction rate and growth rate and AFM&SEM for the analysis of surface and component.

칼코게나이드 박막을 이용한 일차원 photonic crystal의 반사 특성 (The reflection characteristic of one-dimensional photonic crystal using by chalcogenide thin films)

  • In this study it had an excellent optical characteristic, it followed in the creation rate and the refractive index regulation to the ease. Chalcogenide produced the $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ thin film and the $MgF_{2}$ thin film. It measured thin film plan simulation, and the thin film has a 1 -dimensional photonic band gap. The chalcogenide $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ thin film was measured with the fact that it has a high refractive index (2.6~2.9). The $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ and $MgF_{2}$ thin film, have a high refractive index and a low refractive index, it used a simulation and planed period 5-pairs structure, the result was from 500nm to 800nm. It will be able to confirm the characteristic which most of the incidence light reflects, the He-Ne (632.8nm) laser was irradiated in the thin film which stabilized the thin film. $As_{45}Se_{45}Te_{10}$ (high refractive index layer: H) and $MgF_{2}$ (low refractive index layer: L) results which plans the thin film with glass/LHLHLLHLHL/air structure, 632.8nm against transmitance, increased a lot. An application possibility with the filter against a specific wave length was confirmed.
