IEEE802.15.1에서는 블루투스, IEEE802.15.4에서는 ZigBee를 위한 저속 WPAN(low rate WPAN) 그리고 IEEE802.15.3에서는 고속 WPAN(high rate WPAN)에 대한 표준화를 담당하고 있다. 본 고에서는 IEEE802.15 산하 TG3a에서 표준화 중인 Alt-PHY 기술로 경합을 벌이고 있는 MBOA(Multi-Band Orthogonal frequency division multiplexing Alliance) UWB(ultrawideband)에 대한 활성화를 꾀하고 있는 WiMedia Alliance의 시험인증 동향을 고찰하고자 한다.

  • In this paper, the W(ultra widebend) system is used for high speed transmission applying BPSK(Binary Phase Shift Keying) and QPSK (Quadrature Phase Shift Keying), and utilizing the convolution coding with code rate, 1/2 and constraint length, K=7 in order to reduce the bit error rate. And the performance of system is analyzed in the AWGN(Additive White Gaussian Noise) channel environment by using the Viterbi decoding algorithm and adopting the time-hopping sequence as a multiple access method in order to avoid the multiuser interference.

  • In this paper, we present performance analysis of an IEEE P802.15.3a high rate wireless personal area network transceiver. This physical layer standard uses QOSK as its sub-channel modulation scheme and orthogonal frequency domain modulation (OFDM) for sub-bands. OFDM is used for each sub-band so that multi-path effects are absorbed by equalizer and guard, and fading can be approximately modeled as additive white Gaussian noise. In multi-band ultra-wideband system, DAC quantization error is important noise source since high resolution conversion cannot be used due to high power consumption. Simulation result shows that, to get 640-Mbps throughput, at least 5-bits precision is necessary to maintain bit-error rate under 10$\^$-2/, which can be lowered, with channel coding, to 10$\^$-6/ that is the bit-error rate required by IEEE 802.15 upper protocol layer, in 4-meter LOS fading channel.

  • Ultra wide band (UWB) technology will be applied in the high rare wireless personal area networks (WPANs) for its high rate, low power, and innate immunity to multipath fading. In this paper, a power aware multi-hop packet relay MAC protocol in UWB based WPANs is proposed and a power aware path status factor (PAPSF), which is derived from SINR and power resource condition of each device, is used to select a suitable relay node. Compared with relaying by piconet coordinator (PNC), which is easily chosen by other ad hoc routing protocol, the new scheme can achieve hi임or throughput, decrease the time required for transmitting high power signal and we can easily distribute the battery power consumption from PNC to other devices in the piconet to prevent the PNC device using up its battery too fast and finally avoid PNC handover too frequently.

  • The WiMedia Alliance has specified a Distributed Medium Access Control (D-MAC)/WUSB protocol based on UWB for high speed wireless home networks and WPANs. In this paper, we propose a novel SoQ-based cooperative communication protocol adaptive to current UWB link transmission rate and QoS measure. The proposed SoQ-based cooperative communication protocol has compatibility with current WiMedia D-MAC/Wireless USB standard and is executed at each device according to a SoQ-based Relay Node Selection (RNS) criterion.

  • Ultra-wideband (UWB) radios have attracted great interest for their potential application in short-range high-data-rate wireless communications. High received signal to noise ratio and compliance with the Federal Communications Commissions (FCC) spectral mask call for judicious design of UWB pulse shapers. In this paper, even and odd order derivatives of Gaussian pulse are used respectively as base waveforms to produce two synthesized pulses. Our method can realize high efficiency of spectral utilization in terms of normalized effective signal power (NESP). The waveform design problem can be converted into linear programming problem, which can be efficiently solved. The waveform based on even order derivatives is orthogonal to the one based on odd order derivatives.

  • The system using UWB is processing brisk study with Bluetooth among the wireless access that is major technology in Telematics. The low complexity and cost for realization is advantage of UWB have communication of high speed. Mamy papers have published on the timing jitter effect on system performance except for the UWB system. In this paper, we analyze the effect of timing jitter on M-ary UWB system using orthogonal Hermite pulse and perform the simulation to show symbol error rate performance. For theoretical analysis, we derive correlation function of orthogonal Hermits pulse with closed form, and as well upper bound of Symbol Error Probability for M-ary orthogonal Hermite pulse system mathematically. It is found that numerical analysis is accurate enough through simulation.

  • The MB-OFDM based UWB communication system is a personal area network specification aiming to provide 480Mbps peak data rate over 528 MHz spectrum. As the corresponding baseband modem operates at high clock rate, its complexity should be optimized for low power consumption. A set of modem design parameters is suggested including the AD bit width, the clipping level and the quantization level at the Viterbi decoder input as well as the trace-back depth of the Viterbi decoder. The data throughput is used to evaluate the performance of the receiver and a recommended set of design parameter values is presented to aid efficient modem implementation.

  • In this paper, Ultra Wide-Band(UWB) radar sensor is employed to detect flying drones and avoid collision in dense clutter environments. UWB signal is preferred when high resolution range measurement is required for moving targets. However, the time varying motion of flying drones may increase clutter noises in return signals and deteriorates the target detection performance, which lead to the performance degradation of anti-collision radars. We adopt a dynamic clutter suppression algorithm to estimate the time-varying distances to the moving drones with enhanced accuracy. A modified Constant False Alarm Rate(CFAR) is developed using an adaptive filter algorithm to suppress clutter while the false detection performance is well maintained. For this purpose, a velocity dependent CFAR algorithm is implemented to eliminate the clutter noise against dynamic target motions. Experiments are performed against flying drones having arbitrary trajectories to verify the performance improvement.

  • In this paper, two sets of spectrally efficient ultra-wideband (UWB) pulses using zinc and frequency-domain Walsh basis functions are proposed. These signals comply with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) regulations for UWB indoor communications within the stipulated bandwidth of 3.1 GHz to 10.6 GHz. They also demonstrate high energy spectral efficiency by conforming more closely to the FCC mask than other UWB signals described in the literature. The performance of these pulses under various modulation techniques is discussed in this paper, and the proposed pulses are compared with Gaussian monocycles in terms of spectral efficiency, autocorrelation, crosscorrelation, and bit error rate performance.
