  • This article describes the calculation procedure for the dynamic characteristics of a high-pressure labyrinth seal wherein the friction force and rotor whirling force are considered; SFCP, the commercial code developed by Lee and two colleagues, is used in the procedure. The simulation results were reviewed in comparison to those of the experiments provided by Benckert; additionally, the SFCP simulation results were verified using the CFD analysis presented by Toshio Hirano. This calculation procedure may therefore be applied to the dynamic characteristics of the labyrinth seals of high-pressure turbo machinery.

대용량 알터네이터의 코일덮개 설계 (Structural Design of a Coil Cover for High Capacity Alternator)

  • Recently, High capacity alternator are used fur some special equipments in industry. But, several serious problem are occured, especially, broken coil of rotor, caused by crash with stator on rotating the rotor. Although added coil cover thor protect coil of rotor, coil cover is broken. In this study purpose 2 step for corrected that problems. First, three dimensional finite element method far investigate what is most important point. For that purpose, performed stress analysis of coil and coil cover that modeling and finite analysis by ANSYS software. Second, Apply prestress when winding the coil on stator to modify direction of net force. Vector analysis is used for determine corrected prestress. Result of the analysis and prestress are reviewed.

Diagnosis of Cryogenic Pump-Motor Systems Using Vibration and Current Signature Analysis

  • In general, to send out natural gas via a pipeline network across the nation in LNG terminal, high-pressure cryogenic pump supply highly compressed LNG to high-pressure vaporization facilities. The Number of cryogenic pumps determined the send-out amount in LNG receiving terminal. So it is main equipment at LNG production process and should be maintained on best conditions. In this paper, to find out the cause of high vibration at cryogenic pumps-motor system in LNG terminal, vibration spectrum analysis and motor current signature analysis have been performed together. Through the analysis, motor rotor bar problems are estimated by the vibration analysis and confirmed by the current analysis. So, it is demonstrated through the case study in this paper, how performing vibration analysis and current signature analysis together can reliable diagnosis rotor bar problems in pump-motor system.

  • Rotating machines are widely used in industrial world and especially motor and generator take up much part of it. As for this kind of motor and generator, electrical loss due to eddy current is the very important factor and that is also a primary factor causes heat generation. To solve this kind of problem like the above. insulated laminating silicon steel sheet is used to prevent eddy current effect. Laminated rotor is widely used as rotating shaft of motor and generator. Due to that, electrical loss and heat problem can be solved but designer meets another problem. In general. most of the motor and generator can be normally operated under 3,600 rpm because they are designed to have the first critical speed more than that speed. But nowadays, they should be operated more than the first critical speed as usual with the trend of high speed, large scale and high precision in industrial world. The critical speed can be determined from the inertia and stillness for the rotor and bearing of rotating systems. The laminated rotor stiffness can be hardly determined because it can be derived a lot factors for instance rotor material and shape, lamination material and shape, insulation material. lamination force and so on. In this paper, the change of the natural frequency of the motor was examined with the change of the lamination force as an experimental method and design criteria will be presented for motor & generator designer, who can apply the result of numerical analysis with equivalent diameter scheme with ease.

호스지표살포기의 살포균일도 분석 (Analysis of the Spreading uniformity of House Slurry Spreader)

  • A new hose slurry spreader with improved spreading uniformity is developed to distribute the slurrynear to the soil surface and to reduce odor problems. The precision of distributed slurry was investigated using 3 types of slurry and found to be dependent on the rotor speed. For the solid matter separated fluid containing 0.1% of dry matter rotor speed of 150 rpm showed best uniformity with CV of 10% In the case of slurry from dairy cattle which contains 8.2% of dry matter high rotor speed of 330 rpm showed best result with CV of 7.2% Also swine slurry which has a 13.6% of dry matter content showed the best result of 8.1% CV at the high rotor speed of 250rpm. A high rotor speed generates enough pressure in the central distributor and as a result uniform distribution of slurry can be achieved. In conclusion it is highly recommended rotor speed of 300 rpm to get the best performance.

  • The cutting process of cage motor rotor require high precision and good roughness. The surface roughness of cutting face is very important factor with effect on the magnetic flux density of cage motor rotor. The paper describes a cause of decrease in the cutting force and roughness on low temperature cooling tool by means of analysis on the mechanism of force system at cutting confition and experimental findings. The main results as compared with the room temperature cutting are as follow : 1) The cutting resistance decreased due to low temperature cooling tool. 2) The surface roughness decreased due to low temperature cooling tool.

  • Recently high speed mixer, which is mixing, grinding, dispersion for liquid-liquid material, has been widely used several industries such as food, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, fine chemicals, electronic material. This high speed mixer has a core element part called particle separation device. Particle separation device, which makes mixed liquid and liquid material using shear forces from a rotor and a stator, is a decisive factor in the distributed parts. In this study, we examined the velocity distribution of the two models of particle separation device using computation fluid dynamics, so that we were able to see the difference of the velocity distribution according to the shape. Also, by experiment, we observed that the use of rotor-screen type is deemed more suitable in case of accurately considering the effect of improving of the dispersibility through the circulation of the future.

드로우바와 로터가 고속주축계의 동적 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of a drawbar and a rotor in dynamic characteristics of a high-speed spindle)

  • The spindle system with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tools, to improve the machining flexibility of machine tools, and to perform the high speed machining. For more quantitative analysis of a built-in motor's dynamic characteristics, that of tile mass and stillness effects are considered. And the drawbar in the spindle can be in various condition according to supporting stiffness between drawbar and shaft. Therefore, in this paper following items are performed and analyzed : 1. Modal characteristics of the spindle. 2. Analysis of rotor's mass and stiffness effects. 3. Modal characteristics of the spindle including drawbar, rotor and tool. The results show enough stiff supports must be provided between shaft and drawbar to prevent occurring drawbar vibration lower than the natural frequency of 1st bending mode of the spindle, and considering the mass and stiffness of built-in motor's rotor is important thing to derive more accurate results.

연삭기용 자기베어링 주축계의 고속화에 관한 연구 (Design of a Magnetic Bearing System for a High Speed Grinding Spindle)

  • The demand of high speed machining is increasing due to the high speed cutting and grinding provides high efficiency of process, short process time, improved metal removal capacity and better surface finish. Active magnetic bearings allow much high surface speed than conventional ball bearings and therefore greatly suitable for high speed cutting or grinding. This paper describes a design process of an active magnetic bearing system for a high speed grinding spindle with power 5.5kW and maximum speed 60,000rpm. Magnetic actuators are designed by the magnetic circuit theory considering static load condition, and examined with FEM analysis. Dynamic characteristics are also considered, such as bandwidth, stiffness, natural frequency and static deflection. System characteristics are simulated with a rigid rotor model.

  • The vibration of rotors in high speed sometimes leads to system failure or reduces the system life, and has a direct connection with stability. In this paper, the system's modelling was conducted in experimentally and the controller was designed to reduce the vibration due to the rotor unbalance using Squeeze Film Damper(SFD). SFD vibration control was achieved in constant rotating speed based on the controller designed. the control was confirmed working quite well in terms of both numerical simulation and experiment.
