  • This paper suggests the current control method that is possible to control Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) with high performance current controller. The proposed control method is the way that uses the powerful current cintroller developed the speed emf with a proper voltage in an each inductance region instead of the existed PI controller. The suggested current control strategies are verified by simulations and experiments in this paper.

  • Interior permanent magnet synchronous motors can be applied to applications requiring wide-speed operation. The current control scheme of an interior permanent magnet synchronous (IPM) motor via feedback linearizing technique is proposed. As the available voltage controlling the armature current is small in transient operations and/or flux-weakening region, the current control performance can be deteriorated. The high performance overmodulation strategy is also proposed to improve the current responses. The control performances are confirmed by simulations.

  • A high-performance rectifier is introduced in this study. The proposed rectifier combines the conventional pulse width modulation, soft commutation, and instantaneously average line current control techniques to promote circuit performance. The voltage stresses of the main switches in the rectifier are lower than those in conventional rectifier topologies. Moreover, conduction losses of switches in the rectifier are certainly lower than those in conventional rectifier topologies because the power current flow path when the main switches are turned on includes two main power semiconductors and the power current flow path when the main switches are turned off includes one main power semiconductor. The rectifier also adopts a ZCS-PWM auxiliary circuit to derive the ZCS function for power semiconductors. Thus, the problem of switching losses and EMI can be improved. In the control strategy, the controller uses the average current control mode to achieve fixed-frequency current control with stability and low distortion. A prototype has been implemented in the laboratory to verify circuit theory.

  • In this paper, we have checked a method of performance evaluation for electronic pedal, which is a core technology of HBD for detecting the axle temperature of high-speed train. As it is practically impossible to conduct train speed test of 500 km/h, we utilize a high speed rotor for evaluating high speed performance of the electronic pedal instead. According to this method, we found that the measurement results by the velocity measuring instrument is similar with the ones from this research through the high speed rotor. In conclusion, it will be possible to conduct reliability evaluation for high speed performance for Beacon, Balise and RFID, which are utilized for transmitting vital information of train control systems through using the rotor.

  • Servo control loops are a core part in the control architecture of machine tools. Servo control loops manage acceleration, velocity and position of all the axes in a machine tool based on commands. The performance of servo control loops sets the basis for quality of production paris and cycle time reduction. First, this paper presents a general control architecture of machine tools and several control schemes in literature, which can be applicable to machine tools control; including Zero Phase Error Tracking Control (ZPETC) and Cross Coupling Control (CCC). After that, modem control strategies to mitigate the problem of high speed machining are reviewed. In high speed machining, high accelerations excite the machine structure up to high frequencies, thereby exciting the structure's modes of vibration. These structural vibrations need to be damped if accurate positioning or trajectory following is required. Input shaping is an attractive option in dealing with structural vibrations. The advantages and drawbacks of using input shaping technique for machine tools are discussed in detail.

  • The development of future aircraft that involves the expanded flight envelop will place increased performance requirements on the design of the flight control system. Maneuvering areas are expanding into flight envelopes characterized by significantly larger levels of modeling uncertainty than encountered in present flight control designs. Conventional flight control techniques that ignore the effects of large parameter variations, modeling uncertainties and nonlinearities, will likely produce designs with poor performance and robustness. Recent advances in modern control theories called advanced control theories, most notably the H$\_$.inf./ synthesis technique, adaptive control and neural network application, offer the promise of a design technique that can produce both high performance and robust controllers for next generation aircraft. This special lecture will survey the recent development in advanced flight control and review the possible application of advanced control theories.

  • With the recent advances in Micro Electro Mechanical System (MEMS) technology, low cost and low power consumption wireless micro sensor nodes have become available. However, energy-efficient routing is one of the most important key technologies in wireless sensor networks as sensor nodes are highly energy-constrained. Therefore, many researchers have proposed routing protocols for sensor networks, especially cluster-based routing protocols, which have many advantages such as reduced control messages, bandwidth re-usability, and improved power control. Some protocols use information on the locations of sensor nodes to construct clusters efficiently. However, it is rare that all sensor nodes know their positions. In this article, we propose another cluster-based routing protocol for sensor networks. This protocol does not use information concerning the locations of sensor nodes, but uses the remaining energy of sensor networks and the desirable number of cluster heads according to the circumstances of the sensor networks. From performance simulation, we found that the proposed protocol shows better performance than the low-energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH).

  • In this paper, we present a full digital control scheme which controls currents and speed of the permanent magnet AC servo motor with large range of bandwidth and high performance. The current equations of the permanent magnet AC servo motor are linearized by feedback linearization technique. Both acceleration feedforward terms and IP controllers, whose gains are functions of motor speed, are used in order to control motor currents. In addition the phase delays in current control loops are compensated by placing phase lead-lag compensators after current commands, which make it possible to avoid high gains in the current controllers. Unity power factor can be achieved by the proposed current controller. Pulsewidth modulation is performed by way of the well-known comparison with a triangular carrier signals. The velocity controller is designed on the basis of the linearized model of the permanent magnet AC servo motor by the proposed current controller. The performance of the entire control system is analyzed in the presence of uncertainty in the motor parameters. The proposed control scheme is implemented using the digital signal processor-based controller composed of an Analog Device ADSP 2111 and a NEC78310. The pulsewidth modulation (PWM) signals are generated through a custom IC, SAMSUNG-PWM1, which has the outputs of current controllers as input. The experimental results show that the permanent magnet AC servo motor can be always driven with high dynamic performance by the proposed full digital control scheme of motor speed and motor current.
