This case study is concerned with the project of the explosive demolition for the DCRE Incheon plant located in Hakik district in Incheon city. The building was severely aging due to the high temperature and sea winds of hundreds of degrees emitted by chimney-shaped steel structures inside the building. Due to this, the concrete of the column and the beam fell off and rusted rebar were exposed, and some of the slabs were severely damaged, making it difficult for workers to access the structure. Therefore, it is not possible to apply a mechanical demolition method in which heavy equipment enters the interior of the building, and an explosive demolition method was applied to allow the building to be demolished without dismantling the internal facilities of the building. The order of blasting proceeded in the order of (1) building ${\rightarrow}$ (2) chimney 2 ${\rightarrow}$ (3) chimney 1. A total of 406 electronic detonators (Unitronic 600) was used to sequentially initiate the explosives installed at appropriate in building and chimneys.

As the operating condition for the penetrating missile has been more advanced, the survivability of main charge has been strongly required when the warhead impacts the target. Lots of efforts to desensitize explosives such as the development of insensitive molecular explosives or optimizing plastic-bonded explosives(PBX) systems has been made to enhance the survivability of main charge. However, these efforts face their limits as the weapon system require higher performance. Herein, we suggest a new strategy to secure the survivability of main charge. We applied structurally supportable aluminum honeycomb(HC) structure to cast PBX. The aluminum HC structure reinforces the mechanical strength of cast PBX and helps it to withstand external pressure without the reaction like detonation. In this study, impact resistance character, shock sensitivity and internal blast performance of PBXs reinforced with HC structure were investigated according to the application of aluminum HC structure. The newly suggested aluminum HC structure applied to cast PBX was proved to be a promising manufacturing method available for high-tech weapon systems.
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) theoretical level were performed for two novel explosives (compounds B and C) based on the guanidine-fused bicyclic skeleton $C_4N_6H_8$ (A). The heats of formation (HOFs) were calculated via isodesmic reaction. The detonation properties were evaluated by using the Kamlet-Jacobs equations. The bond dissociation energies (BDEs) for the thermolysis initiation bond were also analyzed to investigate the thermal stability. The results show that the compounds have high positive HOF values (B, 1064.68 $kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$; C, 724.02 $kJ{\cdot}mol^{-1}$), high detonation properties (${\rho}$, D and P values of 2.04 $g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$ and 2.21 $g{\cdot}cm^{-3}$, 9.98 $km{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and 10.99 $km{\cdot}s^{-1}$, 46.44 GPa and 59.91 Gpa, respectively) and meet the basic stability requirement. Additionally, feasible synthetic routes of the these high energy density compounds (HEDCs) were also proposed via retrosynthetic analysis.
Reduction kinetics and the behaviour of intermediate of three high explosives (HMX, RDX, and TNT) were studies in batch reactors using nano- or micro- size zero valent iron(nZVI or mZVI) as reducing agent. The kinetic constants normalized by the mass of iron ($k_M$) or by the surface area ($k_{SA}$) were measured and compared along with the changes in the concentrations of intermediates. Results showed that $k_M$ and $k_{SA}$ values were not suitable to fully explain the behaviour of mother compounds and reduced intermediates in the batch reactor. The concentrations of initial explosives degradation products, such as nitroso-RDXs, nitroso-HMXs, and hydroxylamino-TNTs, were higher in mZVI treated reactor than in nZVI treated reactor, whereas more reduced polar intermediates such as TAT were accumulated in the nZVI reactor. Therefore, a new parameter, which accounted for the intermediates reduction, needs to be developed.

Recently, the utilization of underground space for research facilities and resource development has been on the rise, expanding development from shallow to deep underground. The establishment of deep underground spaces necessitates a thorough examination of rock stability under conditions of elevated stress and temperature. In instances of greater depth, the stability is influenced not only by the geological structure and discontinuity of rock but also by the propagation of ground vibrations resulting from earthquakes and rock blasting during excavation, causing stress changes in the underground cavity and impacting rock stability. In terms of blasting engineering, empirical regression models and numerical analysis methods are used to predict ground vibration through statistical regression analysis based on measured data. In this study, single-hole blasting was conducted, and the pressure of the blast hole and observation hole and ground vibration were measured. Based on the experimental results, the blast pressure blasting vibration at a distance, and the response characteristics of the tunnel floor, side walls, and ceiling were analyzed.

Rock blasting is utilized in various fields such as mining, tunneling, and the construction of underground structures. The role of rock blasting technology has became increasingly significant with the growing utilization of underground cavity. Blast hole pressure, generated during rock blasting, is a critical variable directly impacting factors such as crushing and blast vibration. It stands out as one of the most important parameters for assessing explosive performance and predicting blasting effects. While blast hole pressure has been studied by several researches, comparisons are challenging due to variations in experimental conditions such as explosive type, charge, and blasting conditions. In this study, blast hole pressure sensors and observation hole pressure sensors were developed to measure pressure during single-hole blasting, The experimental results were then used to discuss the propagation characteristics of pressure around the blast hole and the corresponding blast vibration.
Since various types of safety facilities have been located around blasting construction site, each of the institutions with regard to blast works has prepared limit criterion of blast vibration, respectively. But these criterions applied for limiting vibration are causing harmful effect including construction cost increasement and construction time extension due to exceedable high level application. In this study, more reasonable limit of blast vibration was suggested after reviewing criterions based on existing design and construction cases and analyzing of problems of applied criterions.
Reconstruction and redevelopment of old and dilapidated apartment and housing have been increasing to provide more housing accommodation and to secure the safety of building structures since the middle of 1990's. Since, however, little researches on the demolition technique have been made, conventional mechanical demolition method were applied to the most of works that resulted in flooding in small demolition companies. Problems associated with mechanical demolition method are increase not only in working days and costs, but also in public claims, particularly for high-rise building structures. This is to contribute the demolition industries bt providing the concept, standards, and technique of demolition engineering while maximizing working efficiency and minimizing public claims.

Plastic bonded explosive(PBX) is mainly composed of the nitramine-ploymer compositions. PBX is characterized by high velocity and pressure of detonation, low vulnerability and good thermal stability. Many important applications of PBX require the good adhesion between nitramine crystals and the binder. For PBXs as well as propellants, where good mechanical properties are of great importance, dewetting therefore must be prevented by strong adhesion between filler-binder. Adhesion depends on surface characteristics of filler and binder. In order to design for better adhesion, an understanding of the surface properties of explosive and binder is required. The surface free energies are calculated from contact angle values by the method of Kaelble. Critical surface tension of solids are calculated by Zisman plot. Critical surface tension is a useful parameter for characterizing the wettability of solid surface. In this study, HMX and 3 kinds of copolymers are selected, since they are widely used in many plastic bonded explosives. The technical objective of this investigation is to predict the interaction between filler and binder from their surface free energies.
This area is covered in Andesite of high compression strength and located in PUSAN SEO-KU. There are many old houses around shaft site. So, we must have a cautious blasting operation. A total of 40 blasts were test at DAE-SHIN Shaft site to study the magnitude and frequency characterization of blast-induced vibration. The effect of viblating frequency on structual damage and site-specific scaling to define th empirical equations were also discussed. The result can be summarized as follows: 1. Some empirical equations were obtained. $V=K\{{\frac{D}{W}}1/3\}^{-n}$ where the values for n and K are estimated to be -1.407 to -2.202 and 643.3489 to 7283.2104 respectively. 2. Dominant frequencies at short distance are in the range of about 75.0 to 91.8 Hz, with some exceptions of about 50Hz, Frequencies observed at long distance are in the range of 10 to 2Hz. It is apparent the shift of dominant frequency down to lower levels at long distance.
