  • Oil and natural gas reserves have been recognised abundantly in clayey rich rock formations in deep costal reservoirs. It is necessary to understand the sedimentary history of those reservoir rocks to well explore these natural resources. This work designs a group of laboratory experiments to mimic the physical process of the sedimentary clay-rich rock formation. It presents characterisation results of the physical properties of the artificial clayey rocks synthesized from illite clay, quartz sand and brine water by high-pressure consolidation tests. Special focus is given on the effects of illite clay content and high-stress consolidation on the physical properties. Multi-step loaded consolidation experiments were carried out with stress up to 35 MPa on mixtures constituting of the illite clay, quartz sand and brine water with five initial illite clay contents (w=85%, 70%, 55%, 40% and 25%). Compressibility and void ratio were characterised throughout the physical compaction process of the mixtures constituting of five illite clay contents and their water permeability was measured as well. Results show that the applied stress induces a great reduction of clayey rock void ratio. Illite clay contents has a significant influence on the compressibility, void ratio and the permeability of the physically synthesized clayey rocks. There is a critical illite clay content w=70% that induces the minimum void ratio in the physically synthesised clayey rocks. The SEM study indicates, in the high-pressure synthesised clayey rocks with high illite clay contents, the illite clay minerals are located in layers and serve as the material matrix, and the quartz minerals fill in the inter-mineral pores or are embedded in the illite clay matrix. The arrangements of the minerals in microscale originate the structural anisotropy of the high-pressure synthesised clayey rock. The test findings can give an intuitive physical understanding of the deep-buried clayey rock basins in energy reservoirs.

  • The reaction rates of 4-ethyl pyridine with p-methyl benzylbromide have been measured by conductometry in acetonitrile, and the rate constants of these reactions are determined in accordance with various temperatures (20, 25, 30$^{\circ}C$) and pressures (1, 200, 500, 1000 bar). The rate constants increased with the higher pressure and temperature. The activation energies and activation parameter values of these reactions are calculated by determination of the rate constants the same. The activation volume, activation compressibility coefficient and the activation entropy are all negative. The result of kinetic studies for the pressure show that this reaction proceeds in typical bimolecular nucleophilic substitution reaction.

  • Wavelet transformation in image compression is to offer higher image compressibility and high-quality by quantization and entropy encoding. More image quality is good that reconstructed image by wavelet calculation than acquire cosine transform. Therefore, wavelet itself is function if it is wavelet's feature, in this function, do processing applying difference scale and resolution. That is, this is not that fixed resolution has been decided like existent compression way, when it regulated scale, damage goes in pixel and picture looks like break without giving damage entirely in reflex even if magnify or curtail Decoding. Therefore, this paper is in Image that using new wavelet application compression way research that see applies comparing In each image noted this time compressing step by step with circle image compression efficiency recognize. Also, estimated quality pass through by printing of compressed image, investigated compression ratio of most suitable that get print of high quality and elevation of transmission speed.

  • Vehicle evaluation is performed on the proving ground, and durability test and dynamic test cost lots of money and time. Doing replace real vehicle experiment with similar experiment environment, it will take us much more useful advantages. Suspension simulator is required the robust and high-reliability and used widely. But it's natural of high-leveled control technique to manage to be fitted fluid system's property and complex that is for the lack of self-damping, nonlinearity, compressibility. In designing and evaluating simulator, it is important to understand the capability of kinematic and static performances. In this paper, an kinematic modeling and analysis has been presented using ADAMS to design that can reproduce longitudinal, lateral, and vertical force.

  • In order to construct the farm road in Shi-Hwa project, coarse soils excavated from hillsides have been used as road materials for reclamation. Suitable borrow pits available in land are now limited and also they bring about environmental problems when soils are excavated at the borrow pits and transported to the site. When using fine and wet materials as fill, however, many engineering problems can be encountered. Usually, the materials have high water contents, low strength, and high compressibility. In order to use them, we need research that can improve the inherent properties of those materials. In order to tackle with the problems, researches on soil improvement involve mixing lime geo-cement to the fine wet soils. A lab model test is necessary to verify effectiveness and comparison of those techniques. A field test is also required to show applicability and to find problems that may exist in the design and construction stages.

  • Various high-touch textile products have been developed recently including ultra-fine denier filament yarn fabrics. The touch or hand of high value-added products is of prime importance. Physical and mechanical properties of fabric specimens, ultra-fine denier filament yarn fabric specimen, 100% wool fabric and wool/polyester 50:50 fabric, were measured using the KES. Compressibility of the ultra-fine denier fabric is recommendable, possibly due to the good bulk property of the specimen. Overall, the THV of the ultra-fine denier fabric is positioned between those of the 100% wool fabric and wool/polyester 50:50 fabric. Observed differences in the physical and mechanical properties explain the fabric specimen characteristics reasonably.

  • The compressibility and the permeability of organic soil are so high that they cause many engineering problems when constructing a structure on the soil. If the organic content of the soil could be reduced by any applicable engineering technique, the engineering properties of the soils can be improved to some extent. The purpose of this study would thus be focused on how to decrease the amount of organic matters by applying aerobic biodegradation for eliminating post-construction settlement problems. To enhance the aerobic decomposition, oxygen was supplied to the soil samples prepared by the mixture of kaolinite and sawdust as organic matter. The dissolved oxygen and the organic content of the soil samples were measured, in accordance with the passage of time through the bests. As oxygen suppliers, HaOa liquid and pure oxygen gas were compared to meet the requirement of the test purposes. Newly manufactured oedometer with the diameter of 130 mm and the height of 300 mm was used for 100 days to perform the compressibility tests for the soils. Based on the results of this experiment, the oxygen gas-treated samples with nutrient settled 30% more than the samples untreated. This confirmed the efficiency of the aerobic biodegradation. $NaNO_3$ added into the soils as nutrients was proved more effective than $K_2HP0_4$. To confirm the activity of micro-organisms, sodium azide was also added to the soils.

  • In this paper, the uniaxial, triaxial compression tests and consolidation tests on the clay sample substituted initial pore water for pollutant were performed to evaluate the change in geotechnical properties of the contaminated clay. The contaminant transport analysis on embankment type landfill using the MT3D model was also performed to evaluate the extent of transport and diffusion. There was tendency that strength, compressibility and permeability has increased with the increase in the concentration of NaCl solution. The increase in the strength and compressibility of sample saturated with leachate was higher than samples saturated with NaCl solution, but in the permeability coefficient was lower. As the result of contaminant transport analysis, the predicted concentration was in high with the increase in the initial concentration of $Cl^-$ ion and increased in a non-linear form. The transportation distance calculated with use of regression equation between the distance from contaminant source and the concentration of $Cl^-$ ion was increased with the increase in the initial concentration.

  • A change of z-directional structural and surface properties by calendering has a great influence on liquid penetration into a sheet. It could be also important for multi-ply sheet because it contacts liquid dunhg coating or converting process. Therefore, this study was aimed to evaluate of a change of z-directional structure in multi-ply sheet by calendering. To do this, multi-ply sheets were prepared with various raw materials and calendered at the different pressure and temperature conditions. In multi-ply sheet which consisted of one kind of pulp fiber, thickness reductions were higher in top and bottom plies than in middle plies. And in the case of soft nip calender treatment with high temperature, top layer which was in contact with heating roll showed the highest reduction of thickness. Hard nip calender treatment showed U-shaped density profile in z-direction, but compression profile by SNC treatment was dependent on calendering condition. To examine z-directional structure of multi-ply sheet which was composed of different raw material for each layer, CLSM (Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopy) analyses were carried out on cross direction of sheet. It turned out to be a useful tool for investigating z-directional analysis. As a result, variation of thickness reduction in z-direction is dependent on ply structure, compressibility of pulp fiber, and calendering condition.

  • In order to determine the appropriate volume of the a pressure compensator of deep seabed mining robots, this paper reports on an experimental test for oil volume change in an oil-filled box. At the design stage of underwater robots, it is crucial to determine the capacity of the hydraulic compensator which is replenished as much as the contracted oil volume of the robots. A pilot mining robot, MienRo was designed to work under 6,000 m in the deep sea. The hydraulic actuating oil and pressure compensating oil of MineRo may be exposed at a hydrostatic pressure environment of 600 bar. Although the oil can be assumed to be incompressible, its volume is actually changed under high pressure conditions due to air contained in the oil and oil contraction. To determine the capacity of the pressure compensator, the oil contraction rate should be verified through an experimental test using a hyperbaric chamber.
