축소 점착시험기를 이용한 휠/레일의 점착계수 추정에 관한 연구 (Estimation Study on the Wheel/Rail Adhesion Coefficient of Railway Vehicles Using the Scaled Adhesion Tester)

  • Railway vehicles driven by wheels obtain force required for propulsion and braking by adhesive force between wheels and rails, this adhesive force is determined by multiplying adhesion coefficient of the friction surface by the applied axle load. Because the adhesion coefficient has a peak at certain slip velocity, it is important to determine the maximum values of the friction coefficient on the contact area. But this adhesive phenomenon is not clearly examined or analyzed. Thus we have developed new test procedure using the scaled adhesion test-bench for analyzing of the adhesion coefficient between wheel and rail. This adhesion test equipment is an experimental device that contacts mutually with twin disc which are equivalent to wheels and rails of railway vehicles.

진공증착법과 치환도금법으로 제조한 구리박막 피복철판과 배합고무의 접착 (Adhesion between Rubber Compound and Copper-Film-Coated Steel Plate Prepared by Vacuum Sputtering and Substitution Plating Methods)

  • 철판에 도금한 아연을 구리이온으로 치환하는 치환도금법과 철판에 직접 구리를 증착하는 진공증착법으로 두께가 다른 구리박막 피복철판을 제조하여 배합고무와 접착성질을 조사하였다. 구리박막 피복철판과 배합고무의 접착세기는 제조방법에 관계없이 구리박막 두께에 따라 결정되었다. 구리박막이 75 nm보다 얇으면 안정한 접착층이 형성되어 황동판에 못지 않게 고무와 강하게 접착되었으나, 90 nm보다 두터우면 구리황화물이 지나치게 성정하여 접착세기가 약하였다.

  • Adhesion and hardeness are the most important properties of a hard coated layer which is applied to wear-resistant devices. Zr/ZrN layer was deposited on tool steel(SKH9) and stainless steel(SUS304) by a re-active D.C. magnetron sputtering technique and their microhardness and adhesion strength were measured for the films processed by changing the partial pressures of $N_2$ gas (4~10$\times$$10^{-4}$mbar) and the substrate bias voltage(0~250V). The adhesion strength was evaluated by acoustic signals through the scratch-test with the incremental applied load. As the partial pressure of $N_2$ gas and the substrate bias voltage were increased, the adhesion strength of tool steel was observed to be stronger than that of the stainless steel. The adhesion strength was generally, observed to decrease with the same tendency regardless of the kinds of substrates. The adhesion strength of tool steel was increased more and more strongly than that of stainless steel as heat-treated temperature was increased. The strength of tool steel was appeared to be high adhesion strength at $400^{\circ}C$. From the failure mode of the film during the scratch adhesion test, the cohesive failure was observed to be obvious and the adhesive failure in a minor portion in the Zr/ZrN doublelayer regardless of the kinds of substrates.

  • In tapping mode atomic force microscopy(TM-AFM). the vibro-contact response of a resonating tip is used to measure the nanoscale topology and other properties of a sample surface. However, the nonlinear tip-surface interact ions can affect the tip response and destabilize the tapping mode control. Especially it is difficult to obtain a good scanned image of high adhesion surfaces such as polymers and biomoleculars using conventional tapping mode control. In this study, theoretical and experimental investigations are made on the nonlinear dynamics and control of TM-AFM. To analyze the complex dynamics and control of the tapping tip, the classical contact models are adopted due to the surface adhesion. Also we report the surface adhesion is an additional important parameter to determine the control stability of TM-AFM. In addition, we prove that it is more adequate to use Johnson-Kendall-Roberts (JKR) contact model to obtain a reasonable tapping response in AFM for the soft and high adhesion samples.

자연모사 2층 구조 응착시스템의 최적화 (Optimization of Biomimetic Two-level Hierarchical Adhesive System)

  • Geckos have a unique ability to cling to ceilings and walls utilizing dry adhesion. Their foot pads are covered by a large number of small hairs (setae) that contain many branches per seta with a lower level of spatulae. Their fibrillar structure is the primary source of high adhesion. In this study, we construct the adhesion design database for biomimetic adhesive system. A simple idealized fibrillar structure consisting of single array of beams is modeled. The fibers are assumed as oriented cylindrical cantilever beams with spherical tip. We consider three necessary conditions; buckling, fracture and sticking of fiber structure, which constrain the allowed geometry. The adhesion analysis is performed for the attachment system in contact with rough surfaces with different s values for different main design variables-fiber radius, aspect ratio and material elastic modulus and so on. The developed adhesion design databases are useful for understanding biological systems and for guiding of fabrication of the biomimetic attachment system.

The Chemokine SDF-1α Suppresses Fibronectin-mediated In Vitro Lymphocytes Adhesion

  • Stromal cell-derived factor (SDF-1) is a CXC chemokine that selectively activates the CXCR4 chemokine receptor. Fibronectin is an intracellular matrix component that binds integrin and mediates cell-matrix adhesion. Activation of the integrin receptor can occur in two ways: by ligand binding (outside-in signaling), and in response to intracellular events (inside-out signaling). In the current study we showed that SDF-$1{\alpha}$ inhibited adhesion of T lymphocyte Jurkat cells resulting from binding high concentrations of fibronectin as well as that of THP-1 monocytes. The effect of SDF-$1{\alpha}$ on fibronectin-mediated adhesion was partly reversed by the CXCR4 receptor antagonist T140. Our results suggest that an SDF-1/CXCR4 signal pathway modulates fibronectin-mediated lymphocytes adhesion.

상용성이 개선된 접착 증진제의 합성 및 이를 함유한 자외선 경화형 접착제의 특성분석 (Synthesis of Adhesion Promoters with Improved Compatibility and Properties of UV-Curable Adhesives Containing Adhesion Promoters)

  • 본 연구에서는 상용성이 개선된 접착 증진제를 개발하기 위해 malenized polybutadiene과 2-hydroxyethyl acrylate(HEA)의 반응을 통해 다양한 함량의 아크릴레이트 반응기와 carboxylic acid가 도입된 접착 증진제(PBCA)를 합성하였다. 합성된 접착 증진제는 maleic anhydride의 개환 반응을 통해 도입된 아크릴레이트 반응기와 carboxylic acid의 함량, 그리고 접착 증진제의 첨가량을 달리하여 접착 필름을 제조하고 제조된 접착 필름의 표면 특성, 접착력 등의 기계적 특성과 흡습 특성 등의 변화를 확인하였다. 접착 증진제의 분자 내에 도입된 carboxylic acid의 함량이 증가할수록 접착 필름의 접착력은 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 기존의 상용화된 접착 증진제와 비교하여 기계적 물성 또한 개선됨을 확인하였다. 특히, 분자 내에 소수성의 폴리부타디엔 주쇄와 친수성의 maleic anhydride 및 carboxylic acid가 동시에 존재함으로 인해 다양한 친수성 및 소수성 재료와의 상용성이 대폭 개선되었음을 확인하였다.

혈관내피세포에서 Vascular Cell Adhesion Molecule-1 발현에 대한 혈장 지단백의 효과 (Effects of Plasma Lipoproteins on Expression of Vasular Cell Adhesion Molecule- in Human Microvasuclar Endothelial Cells)

  • Although an elevated plasma level of high density lipoprotein (HDL) is known as a protective component against the development of atherosclerosis and ensuing coronary heart diseases, the related mechanisms are still not established . It has been clearly demonstrated in the early stages of atherogenesis that adhesion of monocytes and lymphocytes to the vascular endothelium is enhanced via adhesion molecules, and that monocytes and macrophages accumulate in the subendothelial space. The present study has investigated whether isolated plasma HDL plays a role in protection against atherogenesis by inhibiting the expression of vascular cell adhesioin molecule-1(VCAM-1) on the endothelial cells. Effects of plasma native low density lipoprotein (LDL) and ac ethylated LDL(AcLDL) on VCAM-1 expression were also examined by using an immunocytochemical technique. While plasma HDL did not alter the basal expression of VCAM-1 , lipopolysaccharide(LPS) induction of this adhesion modlecule was markedly inhibited at a phyaiological concentration of HDL. In contrast, 30$\mu\textrm{g}$ protein/ml AcLDL increased sifnificantly both basal VCAM-1 expression and its LPD induction , suggesting that this modified LDL enhances leukocyte adhesiion to endothelial cells. Unlike AcLDL , plasma native LDL inhibited significantly VCAM-1 expression. This indicates that LDL did not undergo oxidative modificantion while incubated with endothelial cells. These results suggest that plasam HDL may inhibit atherogenesis by reducing the expression of adhesion molecules, which is a protective mechanism independent of tis reverse cholesterol transport function . Modified LDL is a potent iducer for adhesion molecules in vascular endothelical cells and could play a role in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis by adhering to blood cells.

Inhibitory Effect of Lactobacillus plantarum K11 on the Adhesion of Escherichia coli O157 to Caco-2 Cells

  • Inhibitory effect of Escherichia coli O157 adhered to Caco-2 cells by the cells of Lactobacillus plantarum K11 and the cell-free culture supernatant (CFCS) and bacteriocin prepared from this strain was investigated. As the cell counts of viable L. plantarum K11 previously adhered to Caco-2 were increased, the rate of adhesion and adherent cell counts of E. coli O157 was lower. However, because the heated L. plantarum K11 rarely have the adhesion ability to Caco-2, the adhesion rate and adherent cell counts of E. coli O157 were high. In addition, the inhibitory effects of E. coli O157 adhesion by the CFCS and bacteriocin of L. plantarum K11 were dose-dependent manner. Therefore, the inhibition of adhesion of E. coli O157 to Caco-2 may result from the antimicrobial substances such as lactic acid and bacteriocin. Moreover the inhibitory activity of adhesion by the heated bacteriocin for 30 min at 100oC was similar to activity of non-treated bacteriocin, but the activity was disappeared by treatment with protease.

Linear Ion Source에 의해 증착된 Diamond-Like Carbon(DLC) 박막의 질화층 형성에 따른 밀착력 특성 연구 (Study on the Adhesion of Diamond Like Carbon Films Using the Linear Ion Source with Nitriding Layers)

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) has many outstanding properties such as low friction, high wear resistance and corrosion resistance. However, it is difficult to achieve enough adhesion on the metal substrates because of weak bonding between DLC film and the metal substrate. The purpose of this study is to enhance an adhesion of DLC film. For improving adhesion, the substrate was treated by active screen plasma nitriding before DLC film deposing. Nitrided substrates were investigated by Glow Discharge Spectrometer (GDS), Micro-Vickers Hardness. DLC films were deposited on several metals by linear ion source, and characteristics of the films were investigated using nano-indentation, Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM). The adhesion was measured by scratch tester. The adhesion of DLC films was increased when nitriding layer was formed before DLC deposition. Therefore, the adhesion of DLC film can be enhanced as increasing the hardness of materials.
