Purpose - Multi-dimensional prices comprise multiple components such as monthly payments and a number of payments rather than a single lump-sum amount. According to previous studies, an increase in the number of price dimensions leads to a massive amount of cognitive stress resulting in incorrect calculation, and deterioration in the consistency of the price judgment. However, an increase only in the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices does not always result in a corresponding decrease in the accuracy of price evaluation. Since diverse variables could affect consumers' purchase-decision-making process, the results of price evaluation would be different. In this study, an empirical analysis was performed to determine how the accuracy of price evaluation varies depending on the extent of the complexity of price dimensions using product involvement and brand preference as moderating variables. Research design, data, and methodology - A survey was conducted on 260 students, and 252 effective responses were used for analysis. The data was analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, and two-way ANOVA. In this study, six hypotheses were developed to examine the effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation effort of multi-dimensional prices. Results - As the number of price dimensions increased, accuracy of price evaluation appeared to be low in high involvement, as expected. However, it showed no differences in price evaluation effort when the level of complexity of calculating multi-dimensional prices is low. When a small number of price dimensions are presented in both cases of high and low involvement, accuracy of price evaluation is much higher in a weak brand preference. On the contrary, a strong brand preference enhances an accuracy of price evaluation only in case of low involvement when the number of price dimensions is increased. An interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference on consumers' evaluation of multi-dimensional prices did not exist irrespective of the level of complexity of calculating prices being high or low. Conclusions - When the number of price dimensions is small, consumers' effort for price evaluation shows almost no difference without the moderating effect of involvement, and a weak brand preference leads to a higher accuracy of price evaluation in an effort to make the best selection. No interaction effect of product involvement and brand preference was found except for a main effect of brand preference. When a price is composed of multiple dimensions rendering it more difficult to calculate the final price, the effort for price evaluation was expected to decrease only slightly in case of combination of high involvement and strong brand preference. This is because people have a higher purchase intentions and trust for that particular brand. However, the accuracy of price evaluation was much lower in cases of high involvement, and there was no interaction effect between product involvement and brand preference except for a main effect of involvement and brand preference, respectively.

Iris recognition is a biometric technique which uses unique iris patterns between the pupil and sclera. The advantage of iris recognition lies in high recognition accuracy; however, for good performance, it requires the diameter of the iris to be greater than 200 pixels in an input image. So, a conventional iris system uses a camera with a costly and bulky zoom lens. To overcome this problem, we propose a new method to restore a low resolution iris image into a high resolution image using a single image. This study has three novelties compared to previous works: (i) To obtain a high resolution iris image, we only use a single iris image. This can solve the problems of conventional restoration methods with multiple images, which need considerable processing time for image capturing and registration. (ii) By using bilinear interpolation and a constrained least squares (CLS) filter based on the degradation model, we obtain a high resolution iris image with high recognition performance at fast speed. (iii) We select the optimized parameters of the CLS filter and degradation model according to the zoom factor of the image in terms of recognition accuracy. Experimental results showed that the accuracy of iris recognition was enhanced using the proposed method.
Recently, various monitoring systems have been proposed to detect interaction performance between trains and infrastructure, as well as, various techniques to improve the accuracy and performance of such inspection equipment in high speeds. Especially, it is important to predict electric noise of high speed trains due to its effect on detection system accuracy. In this paper, we analyze various types of electrical noise in electric vehicles to improve the accuracy of the detection module of the inspection car. In detail, analysis of electric noise of high speed railway is performed as a function of speed based on field tests that were carried out by HEMU-430X (Highspeed Eletric Multiple Unit - 430 km/h eXperiment).
In times of the civil uses of commercialized high-resolution satellite imagery, applications of remote sensing have been widely extended to the new fields or the problem solving beyond traditional application domains. Transportation application of this sensor data, related to the automatic or semiautomatic road extraction, is regarded as one of the important issues in uses of remote sensing imagery. Related to these trends, this study focuses on automatic road extraction using Gradient Direction Profile Algorithm (GDPA) scheme, with IKONOS panchromatic imagery having 1 meter resolution. For this, the GDPA scheme and its main modules were reviewed with processing steps and implemented as a prototype software. Using the extracted bi-level image and ground truth coming from actual GIS layer, overall accuracy evaluation and ranking error-assessment were performed. As the processed results, road information can be automatically extracted; by the way, it is pointed out that some user-defined variables should be carefully determined in using high-resolution satellite imagery in the dense or low contrast areas. While, the GDPA method needs additional processing, because direct results using this method do not produce high overall accuracy or ranking value. The main advantage of the GDPA scheme on road features extraction can be noted as its performance and further applicability. This experiment study can be extended into practical application fields related to remote sensing.
Micro-features such as grooves and lenses, which perform optical functions in flat displays, should be manufactured with a good form accuracy because this is directly related to their optical performance. As the size of the display increases, it is very difficult to maintain a high relative accuracy because of the inherent geometric errors such as the waviness of a large-area plate. In this paper, the optical effect of these geometric errors is investigated, and surface-referenced micro-grooving to measure and compensate for such geometric errors on line is proposed to improve the form accuracy of the micro-grooves. A PZT-based fast depth adjustment servo system is implemented in the tool holder to maintain a uniform groove depth in reference to the wavy surface. Through experiments, the proposed method is shown to be an efficient way to produce high-quality micro- grooves on a wavy die surface.

Objective: This article concerns evaluation of the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of FNAB for pre-surgical diagnosis of benign and malignant lesions of major and minor salivary glands of patients treated in the Department of Head and Neck Surgery of Erasto Gartner Hospital. Methods: This retrospective study analyzed medical records from January 2006 to December 2011 from patients with salivary gland lesions who underwent preoperative FNAB and, after surgical excision of the lesion, histopathological examination. Results: The study had a cohort of 130 cases, but 34 cases (26.2%) were considered unsatisfactory regarding cytology analyses. Based on the data, sensitivity was 66.7% (6/9), specificity was 81.6% (71/87), accuracy was 80.2% (77/96), the positive predictive value was 66,7% (6/9) and the negative predictive value was 81.6% (71/87). Conclusion: Despite the high rate of inadequate samples obtained in the FNAB in this study the technique offers high specificity, accuracy and acceptable sensitivity.
Nowadays, the Surveying field is growing rapidly in terms of technology such as TS(Total Station) surveying, photographic surveying, digital aerial photogrammetry, utilization of GIS(Geographic Information System) using high-resolution satellite imagery, obtaining 3D Coordinate using GPS. But control point surveying, benchmark measuring, and field Surveying are still performed by the engineers in the field. So, 3D yerrestrial laser scanner comes to the fore recently. 3D terrestrial laser scanner can get 3D coordinate about a number of sites of the subject in a short period with high accuracy. This paper compared the accuracy of data from the performance using 3D terrestrial laser scanner with that of TS. It also obtained the geopositioning accuracy result equivalent to the surveying result of TS. With further researches in the future, it is expected to be used not only in LiDAR itself but also in various areas like reconnaissance Surveying and construction by combining with TS or other Surveying equipments.
The aspheric lens has become the most popular optical component used in various optical devices such as digital cameras, pick-up lenses, printers, copiers etc. Using aspheric lenses not only miniaturizes and reduces the weight of products, but also lower prices and higher field angles can be realized. Additionally, plastic lenses are being changed to glass lenses more recently because of low accuracy, low acid-resistance and low thermal-resistance in the plastic lenses. Currently, one fabrication method of glass lenses is using a glass-mold method with a high precision mold core for mass production. In this paper, DOE (Design Of Experiments) and compensation machining were adopted to improve the surface roughness and the form accuracy of the mold core. The DOE has been done in order to discover the optimal grinding conditions which minimize the surface roughness with factors such as work spindle revolution, turbine spindle revolution, federate and cutting depth. And the compensation machining is used to generate high form accuracy of the mold core. From various experiments and analyses, we could obtain the best surface roughness 5 nm in Ra, form accuracy $0.167\;{\mu}m$ in PV.
