This study reports on Co/$Co_2$MnSn two-phase magnets. The Co/$Co_2$MnSn two-phase magnet has Co precipitates in a $Co_2MnSn$ Heusler alloy matrix, in which the two phases are exchange-coupled at the phase boundary. The as-casted Co/$Co_2$MnSn system, which has Co-Mn solid solution precipitates in a $Co_2$MnSn Heusler alloy matrix, showed that the Co solid solution precipitates are crystallographically coherent and there is exchange coupling at the phase boundary. To form pure Co precipitates by removal of Mn solute atoms in Co-Mn solid solution, annealing was carried out 48 hours at $870^{\circ}C$. After annealing, the low $T_c$ and low magnetization phase of the Co-Mn solid solution became a high $T_c$ and high magnetization phase of hexagonal Co.

We demonstrate a new surface modification of high-voltage lithium cobalt oxide ($LiCoO_2$) cathode active materials for lithium-ion batteries. This approach is based on exploitation of a polarity-tuned gel polymer electrolyte (GPE) coating. Herein, two contrast polymers having different polarity are chosen: polyimide (PI) synthesized from thermally curing 4-component (pyromellitic dianhydride/biphenyl dianhydride/phenylenediamine/oxydianiline) polyamic acid (as a polar GPE) and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) containing 12 wt% vinyl acetate repeating unit (as a less polar GPE). The strong affinity of polyamic acid for $LiCoO_2$ allows the resulting PI coating layer to present a highly-continuous surface film of nanometer thickness. On the other hand, the less polar EVA coating layer is poorly deposited onto the $LiCoO_2$, resulting in a locally agglomerated morphology with relatively high thickness. Based on the characterization of GPE coating layers, their structural difference on the electrochemical performance and thermal stability of high-voltage (herein, 4.4 V) $LiCoO_2$ is thoroughly investigated. In comparison to the EVA coating layer, the PI coating layer is effective in preventing the direct exposure of $LiCoO_2$ to liquid electrolyte, which thus plays a viable role in improving the high-voltage cell performance and mitigating the interfacial exothermic reaction between the charged $LiCoO_2$ and liquid electrolytes.

The heat flowrate and pressure drop of $CO_2$ in a multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler were investigated experimentally. The mass flowrate of $CO_2$ and coolant were varied from 0.06 to 0.075 [kg/s], respectively and the cooling pressure of gas cooler were from 8 to 10 [MPa]. The heat flowrate of $CO_2$ in the test section is increased with the increase in mass flowrate of coolant, the cooling pressure and mass flowrate of $CO_2$. The pressure drop of $CO_2$ is decreased with the decrease in mass flowrate of coolant and $CO_2$, but decreased with increase in cooling pressure of $CO_2$. The heat flowrate of $CO_2$ in the multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler is greatly higher than that of $CO_2$ in the double pipe type gas cooler, while the pressure drop of $CO_2$ in the multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler is greatly lower than that of $CO_2$ in the double pipe type gas cooler. Therefore, in case of the application of $CO_2$ at the multi-tube-in-tube helical coil type gas cooler, it is expected to carry out the high-efficiency, high-performance and compactness of gas cooler.

Carbonation of concrete causes reduction of pH and subsequently causes steel corrosion for reinforced concrete structure. However, for plain concrete structure or PC product, it can lead to a decrease in porosity, high density, improvement of concrete, shrinkage-compensation. Recently, based on this theory, research of $CO_2$ curing effect has been performed, but it was mainly focused on its effects on compressive strength using only ordinary portland cement. Researches on $CO_2$ curing effect for concrete containing $CO_2$ reactive materials such as ${\gamma}-C_2S$, MgO haven't been investigated. Therefore, this study has performed experiments under water-binder ratio 40%, and the replacement ratios of ${\gamma}-C_2S$ and MgO were 90%. Micro-chemical analysis, measurement of compressive strength according to admixtures and $CO_2$ curing were investigated. Results from this study revealed that higher strength was measured in case of $CO_2$ curing compared with none $CO_2$ curing for plain specimen indicating difference between 1.08 and 1.26 times, in case of ${\gamma}-C_2S$ 90, MgO 90 specimen, incorporating high volume replaced as much as 90%, it was proven that when applying $CO_2$ curing, higher strength which has difference between 14.56 and 45.7 times, and between 6.5 and 10.37 times was measured for each specimen compared to none $CO_2$ curing. Through micro-chemical analysis, massive amount of $CaCO_3$, $MgCO_3$ and decrease of porosity were appeared.
The silicide formation mechanisms of Co/Hf and Co/Nb bilayer on (100) Si have been investigated. We ob-served that crystallographic orientationso f the 500$^{\circ}C$ formed cobalt silcides were different each other with the varying intermediate layers. Epitaxial and non-epitaxial CoSi2 formed simultaneously in Co/Hf/(100Si. While only non-epitaxial CoSi2 formed in Co/Nb/(100) Si. The reason why the crystallographic orientation of CpSi2 is different for those two systems seemed to be relate to the formation and decomposition of stable reaction barriers at high temperature. The stable reaction barrier formed at high temperature could control the uniform diffusion of Co atoms which enables epitaxial growth of CoSi2.
To examine the effects of increased $CO_2$ concentration and seawater temperature on the photosynthesis and growth of forest forming Ecklonia cava (Laminariales, Phaeophyta), sporophytic discs and gametophytes were cultured under three $pCO_2$ concentrations (380, 750, 1000 ppm), four temperatures (5, 10, 15, $20^{\circ}C$ for sporophytes; 10, 15, 20, $25^{\circ}C$ for gametophytes), and two irradiance levels (40, $80{\mu}mol$ photons $m^{-2}s^{-1}$) for 5 days. Photosynthetic parameter values ($ETR_{max}$, $E_k$, and ${\alpha}$) were generally higher as sporophytic discs were grown under low temperature and increased $CO_2$ concentration at 750 ppm. However, photosynthesis of Ecklonia sporophytes was severely inhibited under a combination of high temperature ($20^{\circ}C$) and 1000 ppm $CO_2$ concentration at the two photon irradiance levels. The growth of gametophytes was maximal at the combination of 380 ppm (present seawater $CO_2$ concentration) and $25^{\circ}C$. Minimal growth of gametophytes occurred at enriched $pCO_2$ concentration levels (750, 1000 ppm) and high temperature of $25^{\circ}C$. The present results imply that climate change which is increasing seawater temperature and $pCO_2$ concentration might diminish Ecklonia cava kelp beds because of a reduction in recruitments caused by the growth inhibition of gametophytes at high $pCO_2$ concentration. In addition, the effects of increased temperature and $pCO_2$ concentration were different between generations - revealing an enhancement in the photosynthesis of sporophytes and a reduction in the growth of gametophytes.
Random copolymers made of both 'polymer of intrinsic microporosity (PIM-1)' and Ellagic acid were prepared for the first time by a facile one-step polycondensation reaction. By combining the highly porous and contorted structure of PIM (polymers with intrinsic microporosity) and flat-type hydrophilic ellagic acid, the membranes obtained from these random copolymers [(PIM-co-EA)-x] showed high CO2 permeability (> 4516 Barrer) with high CO2/N2 (> 23~26) and CO2/CH4 (> 18~19) selectivity, that surpassed the Robeson upper bound (2008) for both pairs of the gas mixture. Incorporation of flat-type ellagic acid into the PIM-1 not only enhances the gas permeability by disturbing the kinked structure of PIM-1 but also increases the selectivity of CO2 over N2 and CH4, due to an increase of rigidity and polarity in the resultant copolymer membranes.

As the amount of $CO_2$ emission in Korea is ranked 9th and the increasing rate of $CO_2$ emissions highest in the world, it is strongly necessary to devise methods to decrease the amount of $CO_2$ in each industry as the basis of establishing environmentally sustainable production system. This paper aims to identify the characteristics of $CO_2$ emissions from construction wastes throughout the simplified LCA (Life Cycle Assessment) and suggest the strategic guideline for the construction waste management plan to decrease $CO_2$. As a result of LCA on the case of a high-rise residential building project, total sum of $CO_2$ emission generated from construction wastes appeared as 6,818,123kg-$CO_2$ and $CO_2$ emission per unit floor area as 21.01kg-$CO_2/{\beta}{\ge}$. The principal waste materials generating more than 95% of $CO_2$ are materials such as reinforcing bar, temporary materials, cement, ready-mixed-concrete, concrete products, and tile, which have relatively high unit emission rate of $CO_2$ in the process of production. Besides, more than 92% of $CO_2$ was generated from the activities such as structure work, plaster work, temporary work, and tile and stone work, which are generally executed in the early phase of the whole construction period. Reflecting these results, the guideline for the construction waste management plan was recommended. If the waste management plan is established considering the guideline suggested, there would be high potential to decrease the amount of $CO_2$ generated from construction wastes.
In industrial production, the development of traditional polyamide nanofiltration (NF) membrane was limited due to its poor oxidation resistance, complex preparation process and high cost. In this study, a composite NF membrane with high flux, high separation performance, high oxidation resistance and simple process preparation was prepared by the method of dilute solution dip coating. And the sulfonated polysulfone was used for dip coating. The results indicated that the concentration of glycerin, the pore size of the based membrane, the composition of the coating solution, and the post-treatment process had important effects on the structure and performance of the composite NF membrane. The composite NF membrane prepared without glycerol protecting based membrane had a low flux, when the concentration of glycerin increased from 5% to 15%, the pure water flux of the composite NF membrane increased from 46.4 LMH to 108.2 LMH, and the salt rejection rate did not change much. By optimizing the coating system, the rejection rate of Na2SO4 and PEG1000 was higher than 90%, the pure water flux was higher than 40 LMH (60psi), and it can withstand 20,000 ppm.h NaClO solution cleaning. When the post treatment processes was adjusted, the salt rejection rate of NaCl solution (250 ppm) reached 45.5%, and the flux reached 62.2 LMH.
Initial electrochemical characteristics of $LiCoO_2$ electrode for lithium ion battery with various content of super s black as conductive material were evaluated through the charge/discharge with the potential range of 4.3V to 2.0V versus $Li^+/Li^+$. The rate of C/4 and C/2 by the 3 electrode test cell composed with an electrolytic solution of 1 mol/l $LiPF_6/EC+DEC(1:3\;by\; weight)$. Lithium was used as reference electrode. High impedance charge behavior was observed at early stage of charge. In the case of $3\%w/w$ of super s black as conductive material, the specific resistance of the high impedance releasing was $3.82\;{\Omega}\;{\cdot}\;g-LiCoCo_2$ at the current density of $0.5 mA/cm^2$, which corresponds 7 times of the specific resistance of electrode $(0.728 g-LiCoO_2)$. At second charge, the specific resistance of the high impedance releasing was 63 mn · g-Lico02, which corresponds 12eio of the specific resistance of electrode and only $1.7\%$ of that of the first charge. The first charge and discharge specific capacities at C/4 rate were 160-161 and $153\~155mAh/g-LiCoO_2$, respectively, to lead $95.4\~96.4\%$ of coulombic efficiencies and ca. $6 mAh/g-LiCoO_2$ of initial irreversible specific capacity. Specific resistance at the end of charge and rest showed low value at content of super s black between 2 and $7\%w/w$, which agreed with characteristics of irreversible specific capacity. Capacity densities were reduced by the increasing the content of conductive material. They were 447 and 431mAh/ml when 2 and $2.9\%w/w$ of super s black were used, respectively, at the rate of C/4.
