Topology Aggregation for Hierarchical Wireless Tactical Networks

  • Wireless tactical network (WTN) is the most important present-day technology enabling modern network centric warfare. It inherits many features from WMNs, since the WTN is based on existing wireless mesh networks (WMNs). However, it also has distinctive characteristics, such as hierarchical structures and tight QoS (Quality-of-Service) requirements. Little research has been conducted on hierarchical protocols to support various QoS in WMN. We require new protocols specifically optimized for WTNs. Control packets are generally required to find paths and reserve resources for QoS requirements, so data throughput is not degraded due to overhead. The fundamental solution is to adopt topology aggregation, in which a low tier node aggregates and simplifies the topology information and delivers it to a high tier node. The overhead from control packet exchange can be reduced greatly due to decreased information size. Although topology aggregation is effective for low overhead, it also causes the inaccuracy of topology information; thus, incurring low QoS support capability. Therefore, we need a new topology aggregation algorithm to achieve high accuracy. In this paper, we propose a new aggregation algorithm based on star topology. Noting the hierarchical characteristics in military and hierarchical networks, star topology aggregation can be used effectively. Our algorithm uses a limited number of bypasses to increase the exactness of the star topology aggregation. It adjusts topology parameters whenever it adds a bypass. Consequently, the result is highly accurate and has low computational complexity.

  • The segmentation of range image is essential to recognize the three dimensional object. Generally, surface curvature is well-known feature for segmentation and classification of the fange image, but it is sensitive to noies. In this paper, we propose the structure of hierarchical neural network using surface curvature for segmentation of range images. The hierarchical structure of neural networks is robust to noise and the result of segmentaion is better than conventional optimization method of single level.

Joint User Association and Resource Allocation of Device-to-Device Communication in Small Cell Networks

  • With the recent popularity of smart terminals, the demand for high-data-rate transmission is growing rapidly, which brings a new challenge for the traditional cellular networks. Both device-to-device (D2D) communication and small cells are effective to improve the transmission efficiency of local communication. In this paper, we apply D2D communication into a small cell network system (SNets) and study about the optimization problem of resource allocation for D2D communication. The optimization problem includes system scheduling and resource allocation, which is exponentially complex and the optimal solution is infeasible to achieve. Therefore, in this paper, the optimization problem is decomposed into several smaller problems and a hierarchical scheme is proposed to obtain the solution. The proposed hierarchical scheme consists of three steps: D2D communication groups formation, the estimation of sub-channels needed by each D2D communication group and specific resource allocation. From numerical simulation results, we find that the proposed resource allocation scheme is effective in improving the spectral efficiency and reducing the outage probability of D2D communication.

PSO-based Resource Allocation in Software-Defined Heterogeneous Cellular Networks

  • A heterogeneous cellular network (HCN) is useful to increase the spectral and energy efficiency of wireless networks and to reduce the traffic load from the macro cell. The performance of the secondary user equipment (SUE) is affected by interference from the eNodeB (eNB) in a macro cell. To decrease the interference between the macro cell and the small cell, allocating resources properly is essential to an HCN. This study considers the scenario of a software-defined heterogeneous cellular network and performs the resource allocation process. First, we show the system model of HCN and formulate the optimization problem. The optimization problem is a complex process including power and frequency resource allocation, which imposes an extremely high complexity to the HCN. Therefore, a hierarchical resource allocation scheme is proposed, which including subchannel selection and a particle swarm optimization (PSO)-based power allocation algorithm. Simulation results show that the proposed hierarchical scheme is effective in improving the system capacity and energy efficiency.

프리픽스 할당에 기반한 중첩된 NEMO 환경에서의 경로최적화 기법 (Route Optimization Scheme in Nested NEMO Environment based on Prefix Delegation)

  • 망이동성지원 프로토콜 (NEMO basic support protocol)은 이동망의 통신노드들에 대해 인터넷 연결을 제공하기 위한 확장된 MIPv6이다. 그러나, 망이동성지원 프로토콜은 중첩된 이동망의 경우에 다중 캡슐화와 함께 최적화되지 않은 경로 선택으로 인하여 데이터 전송 지연과 많은 비용을 요구한다. 본 논문에서는 계층적 MIPv6 (HMIPv6)와 계층적 프리픽스 할당 (HPD) 프로토콜을 결합한 제안 기법을 통해 핸드오프 발생시 효율적인 경로최적화와 더불어 패킷헤더비용과 위치등록부하를 감소시켰다. 제안 기법은 계층적 프리픽스할당과 트리기반 경로방법을 통하여 이동망 노드들에 대한 주소를 할당하고, 마이크로 이동성을 지원함과 동시에 도메인 내에서의 상호통신을 가능케 한다. 제안된 기법의 성능평가를 위해 NS-2로 모의실험을 하였다.

계층적 크리깅 모델을 이용한 설계 최적화 기법의 유용성 검증 (Feasibility Study of Hierarchical Kriging Model in the Design Optimization Process)

  • 근사모델을 이용한 최적설계 문제에서는 설계변수의 수가 증가함에 따라 근사모델의 정확도를 확보하기 위한 계산 횟수가 급격히 증가한다. 이를 해결하기 위해 저정확도 모델을 바탕으로 고정확도 모델로 보정하는 Variable-Fidelity Modeling을 이용하였다. 본 논문에서 Variable-Fidelity Model로는 계층적 크리깅 모델을 이용하였으며, 다목적 유전자 알고리즘과 결합하여 최적화 프레임워크를 제안하였다. 이 방법의 유용성을 검증하기 위하여 천음속 영역에 대한 익형 최적 설계를 하였다. 설계변수로는 PARSEC의 파라메터를 이용하였으며, 서로 다른 격자수를 가지는 경우 그리고 서로 다른 정확도를 가지는 해석자를 이용한 경우에 관하여 해석을 수행하였다. 검증을 위해 단일 정확도 모델에 대한 최적화 결과와 비교하였다. 모든 경우에 관하여 파레토 라인이 유사하게 나오는 것을 확인 할 수 있었으며, 계산시간은 계층적 크리깅 모델을 이용한 Variable-Fidelity Model이 단일 정확도 모델에 비하여 훨씬 줄어들었다. 이를 바탕으로 본 논문의 방법이 단일 정확도를 가지는 모델에 대한 최적화 방법과 유사한 정확도를 가지며 더욱 효율적임을 확인 할 수 있다.

위상복잡도 조절을 위한 설계 해상도 계층적 제어 기법 (Hierarchical design resolution control scheme for the systematic generation of optimal candidate designs having various topological complexities)

  • In many practical engineering design problems, there are some design and manufacturing considerations that are difficult or infeasible to express in terms of an objective function or a constraint. In this situation, a set of optimal candidate designs having different topological complexities, not just a single optimal design, is preferred. To generate systematically such design candidates, we propose a hierarchical multiscale design resolution control scheme. In order to adjust its topological complexity by choosing a different starting resolution level in the hierarchical design space, we propose to employ a general M-band wavelet transform in transforming the original design space into the multiscale design space.

  • This paper analyzes interference power, Erlang capacity, the number of handoff occurrences, and call blocking probability with respect to the cell radius, the soft handoff region, and the mobile's velocity in a CDMA hierarchical cellular system. The microcell cellular system has the higher Erlang capacity than the macrocell cellular system. However, the microcell cellular system, which has a high system capacity through frequency reuse has the call blocking probability higher than macrocell cellular system. Also the interference power and the call blocking probability are decreased with the operation of soft handoff. Therefore, this paper presents the optimization of soft handoff region so as to maximize system's Erlang capacity with the low the call blocking probability according to mobile's velocity in the CDMA hierarchial cellular system.

계층적 우선순위 BP 알고리즘을 이용한 새로운 영상 완성 기법 (A New Image Completion Method Using Hierarchical Priority Belief Propagation Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 영상 완성(image completion)을 위해 계층적으로 적용되는 새로운 에너지 최적화 방식을 제안한다. 영상 완성의 목적은 영상의 특정 영역이 지워진 상태에서, 그 지워진 부분을 나머지 부분과 시각적으로 어울리도록 완성시키는 기법을 말한다. 본 논문에서는 전역적 특징의 탐지, 주변 환경 변화에 대한 유연성, 계산비용의 감소, 영상 인페인팅과 같은 관련기법들로의 확장성 문제들을 다룰 수 있도록 마르코프 랜덤 필드(Markov Random Field)로 모델링 된 예제 기반 방식(exampler-based mehtod) 접근법을 택한다. 그리고 MRF에서의 에너지 최적화를 위해 BP 알고리즘(Belief Propagation Algorithm)의 변형인 우선순위 BP 알고리즘(Priority-Belief Propagation Algorithm)을 적용하였다. 본 논문에서 제안한 계층적 우선순위 BP 알고리즘(Hierarchical Priority-Belief Propagation Algorithm)은 MRF의 정점의 수를 줄이고 메시지를 계층적으로 전파한다. 이렇게 계층적 우선순위 BP 알고리즘을 영상 완성에 적용하여 여러 영상들에서 바람직한 결과를 얻었다.
