Study of the Social Wellbeing of Working Mothers of Preschool Children (미취학 자녀를 둔 취업모의 사회적 안녕감에 관한 연구)

  • This study examined the social wellbeing of working mothers of preschool children with the aim of identifying relationships between social wellbeing and influencing factors, focusing on the individual, relationship, and work environment of the mothers. Data on 390 working mothers were used for this study. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 18.0 program and descriptive statistics. Pearson's correlation analyses and hierarchical regression analyses were performed. The results show that social wellbeing has significantly positive correlations with education, monthly household income, number of children, age of the first child(8 and over), social capital for childcare, division of childcare, maternal role values, spouse's beliefs about paternal parenting involvement, and family-supportive work environment, as well as significantly negative correlations with weekly working hours, sociological ambivalence, spouse's beliefs about father's breadwinner role and gender-role values, job overload, and gender-role attitudes of coworkers. In addition, hierarchical regression revealed that spouse's beliefs about paternal parenting involvement and a family-supportive work environment were significantly positive predictors of working mothers'social wellbeing, whereas working mothers'sociological ambivalence toward their roles, job overload, and gender-role attitudes of coworkers were significantly negative predictors of working mothers'social wellbeing. These results point to ways of changing education and policy to improve the social wellbeing of working mothers.

The Perceived Utility of Education and Training in SMEs on Employee Satisfaction: The Moderating Role of HRM Department Activities (중소기업 재직자들의 교육훈련에 대한 인지된 유용성이 교육 훈련 만족도에 미치는 영향: 인사부서 활동의 조절효과)

  • Purpose - Drawing on the content-process approach, this study examines the effect of employees' perceived utility of education and training in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on their satisfaction. In addition, this study investigates how the human resource management department' activities moderate the relationship between employees' perceived utility of education and training and satisfaction. Design/methodology/approach - This study predicts the positive relationship between employees' perceived utility of education and training and satisfaction, and HR activities strengthens this positive relationship. To test these hypotheses, this study utilized Human Capital Corporate Panel (HCCP) datasets, especially 2017 data at the individual level. The number of the final sample is 425 for the test. Moreover, this study used the hierarchical regression model with SPSS. Finding - As predicted, the analytical results with the hierarchical regression model showed that employees' percieved utility of education and training and satisfaction were positively related. In addition, HR activities strengthened this relationship between employees' percieved utility of education and training and satisfaction. Research implications or Originality - This study will provide academic and practical implications for future research on human resource development, especially SMEs by deepening an understanding of the important factors in order to increase employees' satisfaction of education and training. the number of viewers is found in most American films released in Korea.

The effect of Health Behaviors and Stress on Depression in adolescents (청소년의 건강행태와 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향)

  • Objectives: This study aims to examine factors affecting depression of adolescents by using the data of the 17th Korean Youth Health Risk Behavior Survey(2020). Methods: The total sample was 54,848 students who are in middle or high school. In this study, sociodemographic variables, health behavior variables, and stress were input to examine the effect on depression. The data was analyzed with χ2-test and hierarchical regression by SPSS statistic program. Results: The results showed that depression was related to sociodemographic factors, health behaviors, and stress factors. In the result of hierarchical regression analysis, it was found that not only stress but also other variables had an effect on depression, which had a statistically significant effect. Conclusions: It was found that there are various causes such as environmental aspects and health behaviors that surround adolescents' depression rather than a single factor such as stress. Also, stress and depression are reciprocal rather than causal. Adolescents should be subdivided into groups such as grade, gender, or academic performance to relieve stress and depression at the same time through specific interventions.

Influence of Spirituality and Job Satisfaction on the Compassion Competence of Hospice Nurses

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to examine the influence of spirituality and job satisfaction on the compassion competence of hospice nurses. Methods: This was a cross-sectional study of 118 hospice nurses from 16 hospitals in Daejeon, Chungcheong Province, and Jeolla Province. A self-administered survey was conducted using a structured questionnaire including the Spirituality Scale, Index of Work Satisfaction, the Compassion Competence Scale for Nurses, and general socio-demographic information. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical linear regression analysis using SPSS for Windows version 26.0. Results: Compassion competence was correlated with spirituality (r=0.66, P<0.001) and job satisfaction (r=0.52, P<0.001), and spirituality was correlated with job satisfaction (r=0.44, P<0.001). Spirituality (β=0.513, P<0.001) and job satisfaction (β=0.273, P<0.001) were significant factors affecting the compassion competence of hospice nurses, after adjusting for the sociodemographic and work-related covariates. The step-by-step results from hierarchical linear regression analysis also indicated that spirituality had a stronger impact than job satisfaction on compassion competence. Conclusion: Our findings demonstrate the importance of spirituality, which plays a role in guiding the compassion competence of hospice nurses. It is necessary to support the spirituality and job satisfaction of hospice nurses, which could facilitate their compassion competence and thereby contribute to improving the quality of hospice and palliative care.

Factors Affecting Psychological Burnout in Nurses Caring for Terminal Cancer Patients

  • Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the impacts of end-of-life care competency and ethical dilemmas on psychological burnout in nurses who care for terminal cancer patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study of 160 nurses who cared for terminal cancer patients was conducted. The participants were recruited from the hospice-palliative care wards, hematology or oncology wards, or intensive care units of three general hospitals in a single metropolitan area. Data were collected using a self-administered survey to assess end-oflife care competency, ethical dilemmas, psychological burnout, and general sociodemographic characteristics. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the independent ttest, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficients, and hierarchical linear regression analysis using SPSS for Windows (version 26.0). Results: Psychological burnout was significantly correlated with end-of-life care competency (r=-0.23, P=0.003) but not with ethical dilemmas. The results of the hierarchical linear regression analysis indicated that endof-life care competency (β=-0.280, P=0.010) and ethical dilemmas (β=0.275, P=0.037) were significant predictors of psychological burnout, after adjusting for age, religious status, clinical experience, and unit type. Conclusion: The current study's findings demonstrate that end-of-life care competency and ethical dilemmas are crucial factors that affect psychological burnout in nurses who care for terminal cancer patients. Substantive education programs must be developed to improve nurses' competencies in end-of-life care and ethical dilemmas to decrease psychological burnout.

Effects of Sleep Quality, Rehabilitation Motivation, Depression, and Anxiety on Quality of Life in Occupational Accident Patients (산업재해 환자의 수면의 질, 재활동기, 우울, 불안이 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of sleep quality, rehabilitation motivation, depression, and anxiety on quality of life in occupational accident patients. Methods: The participants were 138 patients who in and outpatient treatment at a hospital affiliated with the Korea Workers' Compensation and Welfare-service Hospital located in Daegu and Daejeon. Data were analyzed by independent t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: Quality of life had a significant negative correlation with sleep quality, depression, and anxiety, respectively, but had a significant positive correlation with rehabilitation motivation. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis showed that anxiety was a major factor affecting the quality of life of occupational accident patients. Anxiety showed 42.7% of explanatory power for the quality of life of occupational accident patients. Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, in order to improve the quality of life of patients with occupational accidents, psychological interventions for anxiety should be provided first in the early stage of treatment.

Effects of Positive Psychological Capital and Role Conflict of Hospital nurses on Patient safety competencies (병원간호사의 긍정심리자본과 역할갈등이 환자안전역량에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to determine whether positive psychological capital and role conflict among hospital nurses influence patient safety competencies. Methods: Data were collected from nurses working at one hospital with more than 800 beds in J Province. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé's test, Pearson's correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS 26.0 program. Findings: In the hierarchical regression analysis, positive psychological capital, role conflict, bachelor's degree or higher as the highest level of education achieved, and three or more experiences reporting accidents impacting patient safety were found to significantly correlate with subjects patient safety competency. Among these, positive psychological capital emerged as the strongest factor, and the explanatory power of Model 4 was determined to be 38.1%. Conclusion: This study confirmed that hospital nurses' positive psychological capital and role conflict impact patient safety competency, underscoring the importance of organizational measures to increase patient safety awareness. Therefore, it is necessary to develop an educational program to strengthen hospital nurses' patient safety capabilities and conduct follow-up research to test its efficacy.

Factors Influencing Job Satisfaction among Nursing Assistants Working in Medical Institutions (의료기관 근무 간호조무사의 직무만족 영향요인)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the influential factors on job satisfaction among nursingassistants working in medical institutions. Methods: Small and medium-sized hospitals and general hospitals (S City, U City, N City), 11 Geriatric hospitals(S City, N City, U City, T City, I City), and 29 clinics (S City, I City, N City). Data was collected from 194employed nursing assistants from February 15 to April 15, 2021. The obtained data were analyzed usingdescriptive statistics, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and hierarchical regression analysis. Results: We confirmed a positive correlation between job satisfaction and organizational commitment, andconducted a hierarchical multiple regression analysis using monthly income, work-life balance, organizational commitment, and work confidence as influencing factors for job satisfaction, and found that organizational commitment and work confidence were significant influencing factors for job satisfaction. Conclusion: To improve the job satisfaction of nursing assistants, it is necessary to improve their understanding of the organizational culture in the workplace and expand education and training opportunities to enhance their work confidence to induce long-term retention. In addition, it was suggested that clear job scope and adequatecompensation are necessary for efficient human resource management.

Factors Influencing Utilization of Medical Care Among Osteoarthritis Patients in Korea: Using 2005 Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey Data (우리나라 골관절염 환자의 의료이용과 관련된 요인: 2005년 국민건강영양조사 자료를 이용하여)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to define the association between the medical utilization of osteoarthritis patient and its related factors. Methods: We used the 2005 Korean National Health and Nutrition Survey data and we enrolled 2833 participants who were forty or older and who were diagnosed as having osteoarthritis by a doctor within 1 year and who had suffered from osteoarthritis for more than 3 months. The Andersen behavioral model was used as the analytic framework, and the variables were categorized into predisposing, enabling, and need factors. To determine the influence of each variable on the medical utilization of osteoarthritis patient, we applied hierarchical logistic regression analysis with two stages: the first stage included the predisposing and enabling factors and the second stage included the need factors. Results: On the hierarchical logistic analysis, the variables of personal income, the type of medical security, the duration of arthritis related symptoms within 1 month, the subjective health status and the duration of osteoarthritis showed a statistically significant association with medical utilization in men. And the variables of age, limitation activity due to osteoarthritis, arthritis related symptoms within 1 month, and the subjective health status had a statistically significant association with medical utilization in women. Conclusions: The patients who tend to receive less care are those who suffer less from symptoms of osteoarthritis, those who are within the initial phase, or those with a low-level severity of osteoarthritis. It is necessary to encourage patients to receive the treatment in the initial phase.

A Study on Characteristic Factors of Demanders Influencing the Intention to Move in Public Rental Housing of Seoul Citizens (서울시민 공공임대주택 입주의사에 영향을 미치는 수요자 특성 요소에 관한 연구)

  • The research study conducted logistics regression analysis through HLM (Hierarchical Linear Modeling) and presented the value of the outcome in order to investigate characteristic factors of demanders which influence the intention to move into public rental housing. (1) The results of the regression analysis of characteristic factors of household and housing were analyzed as having the significant effect on the intention to move in public rental housing, according to residents moving in monthly rent housing, residents' occupations, rental housing, the number of household, the location of surrounding public rental housing, monthly average income, children's educational level, the number of children, the types of housing and one's own house, in order, out of the types of housing tenure. (2) The results of the regression analysis of characteristic factors of the conditions of location were analyzed that out of the conditions of location of the top five areas in public rental rates, what influences significant effects on the intention to move in public rental housing is the location of surrounding rental housing, income, the number of household and children, children's educational level, job state, housing types, ones' own house, rent housing, monthly rent housing, in order. (3) In case of Seoul, Expanding public rental housing is inevitable in order to stabilize ordinary people's housing stability, owing to the high and rental prices of private housing. Nevertheless, an accurate analysis of the intention to move in public rental housing has not been conducted. Eventually, the research was, thus, conducted, based on the fact that the preference on public housing is low. According to the analytic results of the study, it is required for the government institutions and agencies should consider individual and local characteristics and provide an alternative that meets the real situation, in order to help ordinary citizens with low incomes stabilize housing.
