  • In this paper, it is presented a new technique to the design and real-time implementation of fuzzy control system based-on digital signal processors in order to improve the precision and robustness for system of industrial robot. Fuzzy control has emerged as one of the most active and fruitful areas for research in the applications of fuzzy set theory, especially in the real of industrial processes. In this thesis, a self-organizing fuzzy controller for the industrial robot manipulator with a actuator located at the base is studied. A fuzzy logic composed of linguistic conditional statements is employed by defining the relations of input-output variable of the controller, In tile synthesis of a FLC, one of the most difficult problems is the determination of linguistic control rules from the human operators. To overcome this difficult, SOFC is proposed for a hierarchical control structure consisting of basic level and high level that modify control rules.

  • In this paper, an integrated method for the path planning and motion control of wheeled mobile robots using a hybrid system model and control is presented. The hybrid model including the continuous dynamics and discrete dynamics with the continuous and discrete state vector is derived for a two wheel driven mobile robot. The architecture of the hybrid control system for real time path planning and following is designed which has the 3-layered hierarchical structure : the discrete event system using the digital automata as the higher process, the continuous state system for the wheel velocity controls as the lower process, and the interface system as the interaction process between the continuous system as the low level and the discrete event system as the high level. The reference motion commands for autonomous navigation are generated by the abstracted motion in the discrete event system. The motion control tasks including the feasible path planning and autonomous motion control with various initial conditions are investigated as the applications by the simulation studies.

  • This paper presents the general system theory and its applications to the safety analysis method that is a recent trend over the traditional event-driven model. This new model is known as STAMP(Systems Theory Accident Modeling and Process)proposed by Nancy G. Leveson in MIT. The new model has benefits of systemic approaches concerning the system safety as a whole including the context it is in, its stimulants and outcomes, and its parts as well as the relationships among them in a holistic manner. The method consists of a hierarchical control structure, a process model, and the safety constraints governing the control. This paper demonstrates an example the contrasts the differences between the approaches of STAMP and the traditional safety models.

Image Contrast Enhancement Based on Tone Curve Control for LCD TV

  • In this paper, we propose an image contrast enhancement algorithm for an LCD TV. The proposed algorithm consists of two processes: the image segmentation process and the tone curve control process. The first process uses an automatic threshold technique to decompose an input image into two regions and then utilizes a hierarchical structure for real-time processing. The second process generates a gray level tone curve for contrast enhancement using a weighted sum of average tone curves for two segmented regions. Experimental result shows that the proposed algorithm outperforms the conventional contrast enhancement methods for an LCD TV.

  • This paper proposes a fault detection and recovery mechanism for a fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system, and provides detailed techniques for its implementation. This paper considers the fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system which has dual layer structure from the LLC sublayer down to the physical layer to cope with the faults of those layers. For a good fault detection, a redundant and hierarchical fault supervision architecture is proposed and its implementation technique for a stable detection operation is provided. Information for the fault location is provided from data reported with a fault detection and obtained by an additional network diagnosis. The faults are recovered by the stand-by sparing method applied for a dual network composed of two equivalent networks. A network switch mechanism is proposed to achieve a reliable and stable network function. A fault-tolerant Mini-MAP system is implemented by applying the proposed fault detection and recovery mechanism.

  • Some controllers have been introduced in various studies to mitigate the negative effects of renewable sources. These have been modified to fit a formed solution in various ways. This paper deals with the voltage regulation of wind farms in voltage dip situations where communication failures occur. The aim is to discuss the modification of the online wind farm management system. To discuss modifications of the online wind farm management system, we focus on voltage regulation of wind farms when communication failures occur. The structure has been designed to respond to a voltage drop when the outer reference is absent due to communication errors. Since the loss reduction effect has been maintained in the designed case studies, it can be derived that the proposed method can respond to voltage drops, along with a used objective function.

Genetic Diversity of Ascaris in China Assessed Using Simple Sequence Repeat Markers

  • The giant roundworm Ascaris infects pigs and people worldwide and causes serious diseases. The taxonomic relationship between Ascaris suum and Ascaris lumbricoides is still unclear. The purpose of the present study was to investigate the genetic diversity and population genetic structure of 258 Ascaris specimens from humans and pigs from 6 sympatric regions in Ascaris-endemic regions of China using existing simple sequence repeat data. The microsatellite markers showed a high level of allelic richness and genetic diversity in the samples. Each of the populations demonstrated excess homozygosity (Ho0). According to a genetic differentiation index (Fst=0.0593), there was a high-level of gene flow in the Ascaris populations. A hierarchical analysis on molecular variance revealed remarkably high levels of variation within the populations. Moreover, a population structure analysis indicated that Ascaris populations fell into 3 main genetic clusters, interpreted as A. suum, A. lumbricoides, and a hybrid of the species. We speculated that humans can be infected with A. lumbricoides, A. suum, and the hybrid, but pigs were mainly infected with A. suum. This study provided new information on the genetic diversity and population structure of Ascaris from human and pigs in China, which can be used for designing Ascaris control strategies. It can also be beneficial to understand the introgression of host affiliation.

Dynamics of Viral and Host 3D Genome Structure upon Infection

  • Eukaryotic chromatin is highly organized in the 3D nuclear space and dynamically regulated in response to environmental stimuli. This genomic organization is arranged in a hierarchical fashion to support various cellular functions, including transcriptional regulation of gene expression. Like other host cellular mechanisms, viral pathogens utilize and modulate host chromatin architecture and its regulatory machinery to control features of their life cycle, such as lytic versus latent status. Combined with previous research focusing on individual loci, recent global genomic studies employing conformational assays coupled with high-throughput sequencing technology have informed models for host and, in some cases, viral 3D chromosomal structure re-organization during infection and the contribution of these alterations to virus-mediated diseases. Here, we review recent discoveries and progress in host and viral chromatin structural dynamics during infection, focusing on a subset of DNA (human herpesviruses and HPV) as well as RNA (HIV, influenza virus and SARS-CoV-2) viruses. An understanding of how host and viral genomic structure affect gene expression in both contexts and ultimately viral pathogenesis can facilitate the development of novel therapeutic strategies.

  • When there is a lack of detailed kinetic information, dFBA(dynamic flux balance analysis) has correctly predicted cellular behavior under given environmental conditions with FBA and different ial equations. However, until now, dFBA has centered on substrate concentration, cell growth, and gene on/off, but a detailed hierarchical structure of a regulatory network has not been taken into account. For this reason, the dFBA has limited the represen tation of interactions between specific regulatory proteins and genes and the whole transcriptional regulation mechanism with environmental change. Moreover, to calculate optimal metabolic flux distribution which maximizes the growth flux and predict the b ehavior of cell system, linear programming package(LINDO) and spreadsheet package(EXCEL) have been used simultaneously. thses two software package have limited in the visual representation of simulation results and it can be difficult for a user to look at the effects of changing inputs to the models. Here, we descirbes the construction of hierarchical regulatory network with defined symbolsand the development of an integrated system that can predict the total control mechanism of regulatory elements (opero ns, genes, effectors, etc.), substrate concentration, growth rate, and optimal flux distribution with time. All programming procedures were accoplished in a visual programming environment (LabVIEW).
