Design and implementation of a dynamic management method for heterogeneous RFID/USN devices (이기종 RFID/센서 디바이스 동적관리를 위한 방법 설계 및 구현)

  • Recently "Green IT" technology has been attracting public attention that the Ministry of Environment has come up with new plans to make "low carbon and green growth" technology and to promote u-City industries. Making an offer, Uubiquitous Service needs RFID/USN Middleware to handle heterogeneous RFID/USN devices in order to gather existing informations. In this paper, we propose the design and implementation of a dynamic management method for heterogeneous RFID/USN devices. In compliance with the paper I will furnish Uubiquitous Service regarding existing circumstances by handling heterogeneous RFID/USN devices such as new RFID/Sensor devices addition and deletion and so on.

Emulator for Generating Heterogeneous Interference Signals in the Korean RFID/USN Frequency Band

  • In this study, we suggest an emulator for generating multiple heterogeneous interference signals in the Korean radio frequency identification/ubiquitous sensor network (RFID/USN) frequency band. The proposed emulator uses only one universal software radio peripheral to generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals more economically. Moreover, the physical and media access control parameters can be adjusted in real time using the LabVIEW program, thereby making it possible to create various time-varying interference environments easily. As an example showing the capability of the proposed emulator, multiple interference signals consisting of a frequency-hopping RFID signal and two LoRa signals with different spreading factors were generated. The generated signals were confirmed in both frequency and time domains. From the experimental results, we verified that our emulator could successfully generate multiple heterogeneous interference signals with different frequency and time domain characteristics.

Development of u-Farm Information Architecture and Information Management Technology based on RFID/USN for the Agricultural Sector (RFID/USN 기반 농업분야 u-IT 적용을 위한 u-Farm 정보 아키텍처 및 정보 관리기술 개발)

  • Generally, because individual agricultural product possesses its own distinctive characteristics and shows different characteristics at each stage of the agricultural supply chain, it is necessary to develop a proper enterprise architecture for managing information system. In this paper, we propose an enterprise architecture based on RFID/USN technology that can be used as a reference enterprise architecture for u-IT application in the agriculture sectors, which is called the u-Farm enterprise architecture with taking heterogeneous characteristics of agricultural products into account for. In addition, we also developed the RFID/USN middleware platform as a core infrastructure technology. Fo evaluation of the performance of the proposed u-Farm architecture and the RFID/USN middleware platform, the field-trial evaluation at the apple Agricultural Processing Center (APC) has been executed and the results shows that the proposed architecture and platform perform well in terms of information integration over the whole SCM process from the farming stage to delivering statge to the customers. It is expected that the proposed u-Farm enterprise architecture can be utilized as a standard information architecture, and the RFID/USN middleware platform can be a infrastructure platform for future u-IT based information technology applications and services in the agricultural environment.

  • Nowadays the research and development of various middleware for the ubiquitous computing environment has been demanded and many application services have been provided. The practical ubiquitous computing environment is the world where a variety of services based on RFID/USN devices are integrated with each other and make synergy effects all together. In the end user perspectives, there should be a middleware platform and business logic framework collaborating various services all together to satisfy the user requirements. In addition, the platform should provide the user to describe a scenario based on various event to maximize the collaboration. In this paper, we have proposed business logic framework which is supporting collaboration between heterogeneous service systems based on the user's scenario. We have also tried to show the efficiency and scalability of the proposed framework by providing the result of a couple of tests.

  • In an environment of home network where a number of technologies including heterogeneous hardware platforms, networking and protocols, middleware systems, and etc, exist, OSGi provides a platform for deployment and sharing of services managed in hardware and guarantees compatibility among applications. However, only simple control and processing of event data are considered in a home network using OSGi, and the consideration about real time processing of data stream generated by sensors is not enough. Therefore, researches allowing users to effectively develop OSGi applications by using various kinds of sensors generating data streams in the home network environment using OSGi are needed. In this paper, we propose an effective method of processing various types of real time data streams supplied to OSGi applications, including filtering, grouping, and counting, etc.

  • Recently, smart devices has been spreaded and the definition of RFID/USN(Radio Frequency Identification/Ubiquitous Sensor Network) technology has also extended. So, originally, human is an agent of communications but now, 'the things' are also an agent of communication. That is, Internet of Things(IoT). IoT is very big IT infra technology that is based on wire-wireless network technologies such as Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. However, in reality, IoT service that can provide various meaning and integrate smoothly is not appear yet. To solve these problems of IoT, we implemented Publish/Subscribe system, which operate in Zigbee based wireless sensor network by using MQTT-SN protocol. Moreover, this system can operate with combining MQTT system that is already existed in external Internet network so, extensibility and flexibility aspect is excellent. We show that possibility of IoT services that is combined between different heterogeneous network through the MQTT-SN.
