Effects of group breeding of herons on pine community were studied at Pomaeri, in Yangyang, Kangwon Province, Korea. This site has been protected as a Natural Monument (No. 229) since 1970. Herons have used this habitat as a breeding site from] anuary to October every year. In 1995, more than 500 herons were observed in this habitat. Many big pine trees are dying or already dead due to group inhabitation of herons, and no pine saplings were found at forest floor in this habitat. Nutrient contents of soil in this habitat were much higher than those in control plot. This must be due to the addition of feces from herons and of thin twigs and other organic materials from the canopy and bird nests. Species composition of herb layer in this habitat was quite different from that in control plot. Breeding site was dominated by Humulus japonicus. Persiearia perJohata, Persicaria thunbergii. and Commelina communis. which are indicator species of soil eutrophication.

In this paper, we introduce the concepts of geometric and arithmetic triangles. Geometric and arithmetic triangles are special types of rational Heron triangles - triangles with rational sides and area. In addition, the theory illustrated in this paper gives certain theorems on the determination of non-right angled geometric and arithmetic triangles. In the meantime, with the help of Mathematica, we compute the sides and area of several triangles(GRT, IGT, RIGT, RAT). Since the material presented in this paper is within the reach of undergraduates, it can attract attention of mathematics students and may also be of interest to the mathematicians. In this content we believe this paper can help undergraduates to have interests in the new world of mathematics.

Strangely enough, there has not been much effort in applying the latest technologies to help referees make accurate calls in a soccer game compared to other sports. Modern soccer tries to apply VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology to correct inaccurate calls such as an offside, but this is being put off due to the fact that real time decision-making cannot be carried out by using this technology. This has led this study to decide developing a device that will accurately identify offsides on a real time basis using various latest sensors and related technologies. This device will aid referees in calling offsides in a soccer match.

수도권내 9개 골프장 연못에서 조사된 관속식물은 코리아 CC(Korea CC)에서 95종으로 가장 많은 종이 분포하고 있으며, 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC)에서는 가장 적은 21종류가 조사되었다. 조사된 관속식물은 대체적으로 1-2년생의 단자엽식물과 다년생의 쌍자엽식물로 구성되어 있다. 연못식생의 외래식물과 식재식물의 비율은 지산 CC(Jisan CC)가 $52.3\%$의 비율을 보여 많은 식물들이 외래식물과 식재식물로 구성되어 있으며, 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)는 $21.1\%$로서 가장 낮은 비율을 보였다. 9개 골프장 중에서 식물군락이 가장 다양한 곳은 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)로서 총 21개 군락이 조사되었으며, 반자연식생 및 자연식생군락이 16개, 식재 또는 외래식물군락이 9개 군락으로 조사되었다. 전체 연못의 반자연식생 및 자연식생 식물군락 중 수생식물군락은 17개 군락으로 조사되었으며, 교란지식생 및 식재군락에서는 12개의 수생식물군락이 조사되었다 조사된 9개 골프장에서 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 자연식물군락이 대상식물군락 보다 많았으며, 프리스틴벨리 CC(Pristine Valley CC)는 반자연식생 및 자연식생이 조사되지 않았다. 연못식생의 자연성 평가에서는 마이다스벨리 CC(Midas Valley CC)와 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 평가지표에 따른 가치등급에서 놀은 자연성을 보였으나, 서서울 CC(Seseoul CC)와 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC)는 가장 낮은 자연성을 보였다. 이들 자연성에 대한 유사성 거리계수의 상대거리에 의한 집단 분류에서는 인위적 식생이 우세한 태영 CC(Taeyoung CC), 은화삼 CC(Eunhwasam CC), 지산 CC(Jisan CC), 서서울 CC(Seseoul CC)가 하나의 군으로 구분되었으며, 반자연적 식생의 특징을 보인 코리아 CC(Korea CC)와 프리스틴벨리 CC(Pristine Valley CC)가 하나의 군으로 조사된 골프장에서 비교적 자연성이 놀은 마이다스벨리 CC(Midas Valley CC)와 파인크리크 CC(Pine Creek CC)가 하나의 군을 형성하고 있었다. 블루헤런 CC(Blue Heron CC)는 다른 군과는 또 다른 의미로서 구분되었는바, 블루헤런 CC(Blue Heron CC)는 경관적 의미에 대한 가치평가가 놀은 결과로서 하나의 군으로 나누어 졌다.

When tsunami waves propagate across open ocean they are steered by Coriolis force and refraction due to gentle gradients in the bathymetry on scales longer than the wavelength. When the wave encounters steep gradients at the edges of continental shelves and at the coast, the wave becomes non-linear and conservation of momentum produces squirts of surface current at the head of submerged canyons and in coastal bays. HF coastal ocean radar is well-conditioned to observe the current bursts at the edge of the continental shelf and give a warning of 40 minutes to 2 hours when the shelf is 50-200km wide. The period of tsunami waves is invariant over changes in bathymetry and is in the range 2-30 minutes. Wavelengths for tsunamis (in 500-3000 m depth) are in the range 8.5 to over 200 km and on a shelf where the depth is about 50 m (as in the Great Barrier Reef) the wavelengths are in the range 2.5 - 30 km. It is shown that the phased array HF ocean surface radar being deployed in the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) and operating in a routine way for mapping surface currents, can resolve surface current squirts from tsunamis in the wave period range 20-30 minutes and in the wavelength range greater than about 6 km. There is a trade-off between resolution of surface current speed and time resolution. If the radar is actively managed with automatic intervention during a tsunami alert period (triggered from the global seismic network) then it is estimated that the time resolution of the GBR radar may be reduced to about 2 minutes, which corresponds to a capability to detect tsunamis at the shelf edge in the period range 5-30 minutes. It is estimated that the lower limit of squirt velocity detection at the shelf edge would correspond to a tsunami with water elevation of less than 5 cm in the open ocean. This means that the GBR HF radar is well-conditioned for use as a monitor of small and medium scale tsunamis, and has the potential to contribute to the understanding of tsunami genesis research.

자연습지의 감소로 인해 논습지를 이용하는 수조류가 증가하고 있다. 그에 따라 논습지는 수조류 개체군의 유지를 위한 중요한 서식지로서 역할을 한다. 논습지를 이용하는 수조류에 관해서는 여러 연구가 수행되었지만 화학살충제의 사용이 수조류에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구는 미비하다. 따라서 본 연구는 화학살충제의 사용이 수조류의 분포를 결정하는지 확인하기 위해 수행하였다. 2013년 7월부터 2014년 6월, 2014년 9월부터 2015년 8월까지 대호간척농지 내 조성된 친환경농업지역과 관행농업지역에 도래하는 도요물떼새류, 백로류, 오리기러기류의 분포 특성을 확인하였다. 그 결과 해오라기, 황로, 중백로와 같은 백로류에서 화학살충제 사용이 분포를 제한하는 것으로 확인되었다. 다른 분류군에서는 화학살충제가 분포를 결정하는 요인으로 확인되지 않았다. 향후 다층 스케일의 공간적 스케일에서 분석을 통해 더욱 명확한 관련성을 확인하는 것이 필요하다.

본 연구는 백로류 집단번식지의 보호 및 관리에 대한 기초자료를 제공하기 위하여 2005년도 번식기에 전라남도 전역을 대상으로 번식지의 분포, 번식조류 종류 및 개체수에 대한 센서스를 실시하고 백희류 생태에 중요한 번식지 특성을 파악하였다. 센서스 결과 집단번식지는 총 17개소, 번식종류는 6종이 확인되었으며 왜가리와 중대백로가 가장 많은 지 역(각각 92%)에서, 가장 많은 수(36.3%, 31.0%)가 번식하는 것으로 나타났다. 번식지 식생은 대나무 군락이 53.3%로 가장 많았다. 번식지 면적은 평균 $2,346m^2(500{\sim}7,000m^2)$, 가까운 두 번식지간 거리는 평균 $18.1km(5.6{\sim}40.4km)$, 번식지와 마을간 거 리는 평균 $297m(10{\sim}2,000m)$, 번식지 경사도는 평균 $18^{\circ}(2^{\circ}{\sim}40^{\circ})$이었으며 번식지 사면방향은 동쪽이 40.0%로 가장 많았다.

1884년 한국에 온 최초의 의료선교사 Horace Allen이 우리나라 최초의 서양식 병원인 제중원을 세운 뒤에 John Heron, Oliver Avison 등 외국인 의사들이 선교를 목적으로 차례로 입국하였다. 이들은 병원과 의과대학을 설립하고 진료와 교육활동을 통하여 근대의학을 보급하고 발전시켰다. 또한 체류기간동안 파송기관과 교회에 공적 기록물을 작성하여 보고하였고 동료, 후원자, 그리고 가족들에게는 개인적인 기록물을 남겼다. 개화기 이후 내한선교사들의 기록, 즉 보고서, 기행문, 편지, 일기, 사진, 구술자료 등은 우리나라 근대사 연구에 필수적인 사료이다. 특히 일기나 기행문이 자세한 기록이기는 하지만, 일방적인 기록이기 때문에 과장되거나 불확실한 경우가 있는 것에 비해 편지는 수신자와 발신자 사이의 기록이기 때문에 사실 확인이 가능하고 회고록처럼 후일의 상황변동에 따라 수정하거나 변개할 수 없다. 그러나 이러한 학술적 가치에도 불구하고 내한 의료선교사들의 1차적인 기록인 편지를 보다 포괄적으로 발굴하고 이를 체계적으로 정리하는 일은 본격적으로 이루어지지 않았다. 이 연구는 북미지역 29개 기관에 소장된 49개의 기록물 컬렉션을 조사하고 분석한 것이다. 또한 이들의 자료적 가치를 살피고 이를 바탕으로 한 디지털 인문학적 활용 방안을 모색하여 향후 근대사 연구에 활용하고자 하였다.

This study aims to collect Minhwa, or folk painting, particularly the Lotus Flower Painting, to analyze its formative characteristics and related story, and to develop cultural fashion products by utilizing Korean traditional culture and modern flavor based on the results. Lotus flowers grow from mud, but are unstained, and they bloom beautiful flowers. Thus, they symbolize Gunja, a true gentleman who is very learned and proper in behavior. In Buddhism, lotus flowers are divine flowers that have the meaning of the creation of life and the eternal cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Lotus flowers also represent the love between man and woman as well as conjugal harmony and love. Lotus flower painting includes the paintings of the lotus flower alone as well as the paintings of the lotus flower with ducks, white heron, kingfisher, fish, butterfly, crab, or tortoise. Colors that are mostly used in lotus flower paintings is the compatible combination of red and blue (green). Based on these findings, fashion products such as bag accessories, sitting cushions, and kitchen utensils are developed using various designs such as realistically drawn lotus flower, schematized lotus flower, the lotus flower alone, or the lotus flower with kingfisher, crab, or dragonfly, that emphasizing the compatible color combination of red and blue.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to analyze radiological change of Kager's triangle in patients with retrocalcaneal disorders. Materials and Methods: Areas of Kager's triangle and calcaneus were calculated with Heron's Formula. Average of area ratio (area of Kager's triangle / area of calcaneus) was calculated for comparison and analysis, according to disease activity and aging process. One-tailed Z-test was done with the average of area ratio. Results: Average of area ratio (area of Kager's trianlge / area of calcaneous) tends to decrease according to aging process and disease existence. Conclusion: Because area of Kager's triangle in patients with retrocalcaneal disorders tends to change according to disease activity and aging process, we should consider clinical correlation between the anatomical structure of Kager's triangle and retrocalcaneal symptoms.
