In this paper, a minimum time path planning strategy is proposed for multi points manufacturing problems in drilling/spot welding tasks. By optimizing the travelling schedule of the set points and the detailed transfer path between points, the minimum time manufacturing task is realized under fully utilizing the dynamic performance of robotic manipulator. According to the start-stop movement in drilling/spot welding task, the path planning problem can be converted into a traveling salesman problem (TSP) and a series of point to point minimum time transfer path planning problems. Cubic Hermite interpolation polynomial is used to parameterize the transfer path and then the path parameters are optimized to obtain minimum point to point transfer time. A new TSP with minimum time index is constructed by using point-point transfer time as the TSP parameter. The classical genetic algorithm (GA) is applied to obtain the optimal travelling schedule. Several minimum time drilling tasks of a 3-DOF robotic manipulator are used as examples to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
An efficient one dimensional finite element model has been presented for the dynamic analysis of composite laminated beams, using the efficient layerwise zigzag theory. To meet the convergence requirements for the weak integral formulation, cubic Hermite interpolation is used for the transverse displacement ($w_0$), and linear interpolation is used for the axial displacement ($u_0$) and shear rotation (${\psi}_0$). Each node of an element has four degrees of freedom. The expressions of variationally consistent inertia, stiffness matrices and the load vector are derived in closed form using exact integration. The formulation is validated by comparing the results with the 2D-FE results for composite symmetric and sandwich beams with various end conditions. The employed finite element model is free of shear locking. The present zigzag finite element results for natural frequencies, mode shapes of cantilever and clamped-clamped beams are obtained with a one-dimensional finite element codes developed in MATLAB. These 1D-FE results for cantilever and clamped beams are compared with the 2D-FE results obtained using ABAQUS to show the accuracy of the developed MATLAB code, for zigzag theory for these boundary conditions. This comparison establishes the accuracy of zigzag finite element analysis for dynamic response under given boundary conditions.
Black hole masses of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) are one of the most important parameters in AGN physics. Based on the virial assumption, black hole masses can be determined from the product of the width of the broad emission lines and the continuum/line luminosities. Using the Low Resolution Imaging Spectrometer(LRIS) at the Keck telescope, we obtained high quality spectra (S/N~100), covering 2300-5500A in the rest-frame, for a sample of 37 intermediate-luminosity AGN at z~0.4, in order to calibrate various black hole mass estimators based on the Mg II (2798A) and the Hbeta (4861A) emission lines. After subtracting continuum and complex FeII emission under Mg II and Hbeta, we fit the broad emission lines using high order Guass-Hermite models to best constrain the profile and the width of the emission lines. Combining the SDSS spectra covering Halpha emission line with the Keck spectra, we determine a set of 6 black hole masses for each object, based on the line width (MgII, Hbeta, and Halpha) and the luminosity (LMgII, LHbeta, LHalpha, L3000, L5100), and calibrate each black hole mass estimator. We will present uncertainties and limitations of each mass estimator.

In this study a new hybrid method is developed for solving flow-dominated transport problems accurately and effectively. The method takes the forward-tracking particle method for advection. However, differently from the random-walk Lagrangian approach it solves the diffusion process on the fixed Eulerian grids. Therefore, neither any interpolating algorithm nor a large enough number of particles is required. The method was successfully examined for both cases of instantaneous and continuous sources released at a point. Comparison with a surrounding 5-point Hermite polynomial method (Eulerian-Lagrangian method) and the random-walk pure Lagrangian method shows that the present method is superior in result accuracy and time-saving ability.

While using the hydrogen mixture gas torch, the glass edge sealing and the shape of the edge sealing parts is affected by many parameters such as flow rate of gas, traveling speed of torch, distance between glass and torch. As the glass edge sealing shape have effects on the insulation and airtightness and strength of the glass panel; the sealing shapes are predicted according to the process parameters. The paper highlight the nonlinear regression equations of the cross-sectional shape of the sealing shape according to the parameters, that is experimentally predicted later compared and verified the equation with the experimental result.
The methods and performance of a fast reactor multigroup cross section (XS) generation code EXUS-F are described that is capable of directly processing Evaluated Nuclear Data File format nuclear data files. RECONR of NJOY is used to generate pointwise XS data, and Doppler broadening is incorporated by the Gauss-Hermite quadrature method. The self-shielding effect is incorporated in the ultrafine group XSs in the resolved and unresolved resonance ranges. Functions to generate scattering transfer matrices and fission spectrum matrices are realized. The extended transport approximation is used in zero-dimensional calculations, whereas the collision probability method and the method of characteristics are used for one-dimensional cylindrical geometry and two-dimensional hexagonal geometry problems, respectively. Verification calculations are performed first for various homogeneous mixtures and cylindrical problems. It is confirmed that the spectrum calculations and the corresponding multigroup XS generations are performed adequately in that the reactivity errors are less than 50 pcm with the McCARD Monte Carlo solutions. The nTRACER core calculations are performed with the EXUS-F-generated 47 group XSs for the two-dimensional Advanced Burner Reactor 1000 benchmark problem. The reactivity error of 160 pcm and the root mean square error of the pin powers of 0.7% indicate that EXUF-F generates properly the broad-group XSs.

Most frequency domain-based approaches assume that structural response should be a Gaussian random process. But a lot of non-Gaussian processes caused by multi-excitation and non-linearity in structural responses or load itself are observed in many real engineering problems. In this study, the effect of non-Normality on fatigue damages are discussed through case study. The accuracy of four frequency domain methods for non-Gaussian processes are compared in the case study. Power-law and Hermite models which are derived for non-Gaussian narrow-banded process tend to estimate fatigue damages less accurate than time domain results in small kurtosis and in case of large kurtosis they give conservative results. Weibull model seems to give conservative results in all environmental conditions considered. Among the four methods, Benascuitti-Tovo model for non-Gaussian process gives the best results in case study. This study could serve as background material for understanding the effect of non-normality on fatigue damages.
We present a novel profile stacking technique based on optimal profile decomposition of a 3D spectral line data cube, and its performance test using the HI data cubes of sample galaxies from HI galaxy surveys, THINGS and LITTLE THINGS. Compared to the previous approach which aligns all the spectra of a cube using their central velocities derived from either moment analysis, single Gaussian or hermite h3 polynomial fitting, the new method makes a profile decomposition of the profiles from which an optimal number of single Gaussian components is derived for each profile. The so-called superprofile which is derived by co-adding all the aligned profiles from which the other Gaussian models are subtracted is found to have weaker wings compared to the ones constructed in a typical manner. This could be due to the reduced number of asymmetric profiles in the new method. A practical test made on the HI data cubes of the THINGS and LITTLE THINGS galaxies shows that our new method can extract more mass of kinematically cold HI components in the galaxies than the previous results. Additionally, we fit a double Gaussian model to the superprofiles whose S/N is boosted, and quantify not only their profile shapes but derive the ratio of the Gaussian model parameters, such as the intensity ratio and velocity dispersion ratio of the narrower and broader Gaussian components. We discuss how the superprofile properties of the sample galaxies are correlated with their other physical properties, including star formation rate, stellar mass, metallicity, and gas mass.

The numerical alaysis of optical device, silicabased device, are presented. The purpose of this paper is to simulate and to design a 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer(OWDM) based on Mach-Zehnder Interferometer(MZI) with wavelength spacing between channels Δλ=0.8 nm at central wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. In initial condition fur simulating, we assumed as follows. A channel waveguide is made from silica based P-doped SiO2 core layers in order to coupling with a fiber easily and its core dimension was 6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$$\times$6 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. The core and clad index of channel waveguide were 1.455 and 1.444, separately, at λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. Where, the separation between channel waveguides in coupling region was 3 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. As a result of analysis, a group mode index of channel waveguide was 1.4498370, was gained by Hermite-Gaussian Method(HGM). Also, the channel spacing was determined by the waveguide arm length difference and was Δλ=0.8 nm as like a proposed condition. The central wavelength of a designed-multiplexer was activated about wavelength λ=1.55 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, and we certificated that it can be used to 8-channel optical wavelength division multiplexer/demultiplexer.
A hybrid finite difference method for the longitudinal dispersion equation was developed. The method is based on combining the Holly-Preissmann scheme with the fifth-degree Hermite interpolating polynomial and the generalized Crank-Nicholson scheme. Longitudinal dispersion of an instantaneously-loaded pollutant source was simulated by the model and other characteristics-based numerical methods. Computational results were compared with the exact solution. The present method was free from wiggles regardless of the Courant number, and exactly reproduced the location of the peak concentration. Overall accuracy of the computation increased for smaller value of the weighting factor, $\theta$ of the model. Larger values of $\theta$ overestimated the peak concentration. Smaller Courant number gave better accuracy, in general, but the sensitivity was very low, especially when the value of $\theta$ was small. From comparisons with the hybrid method using the third-degree interpolating polynomial and with split-operator methods, the present method showed the best performance in reproducing the exact solution as the advection becomes more dominant.
