Objectives: The purpose of this study is to estimate genetic and environmental factors which can effect growth, and predict final height using this factors. Methods: Correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted between measurements of height and Genetic & environmental factors through survey from 1352 child & adolescent patients. Results: Factors which have correlation with height percentile are MPH(Mid-Parental Height), NBW(Neonatal body weight), anorexia, dyspepsia, atopic dermatitis, frequency of breakfast and quality of sleeping time. MPH has moderate relation, NBW and anorexia have fair relation, and other factors have linear but poor relation. Regression equation from factors which have correlation and height percentile has 26.9% of predictive power. Regression equation considering only genetic factor has 20.4%. MPH has the most effect on height percentile. Anorexia has more effect than NBW. Other factors also have small and similar effect. Conclusions: Height of parents has the most effect on growth, anorexia, dyspepsia, atopic dermatitis, frequency of breakfast and quality of sleeping time also has effect.
While sludge settles down in a column, sludge settling characteristic is influenced by effect parameters, interparticle force, wall effect etc. As the height of a column changes, the settling velocity of sludge-water interface changes, too. At lower sludge concentration, particular effect was not observed by the difference of column height, however it was observed that settleability of sludge was greatly influenced by column height when sludge settling was poor or sludge concentration was high. It is therefore required to consider the effect of column height when the power model for sludge interface settling is established. In the tests, there was hardly any $SVI_{ts}$(SVI after "t" minutes) difference in each column after 10min at $1.5kg/m^3$ of sludge concentration. When sludge concentration was at $2.5kg/m^3$, $SVI_{ts}$ tended to be constant after 20min. At $3.5kg/m^3$, $SVI_{ts}$ increased to 30minuets. The purpose of this work is to establish the correction factor that is able to compensate the errors derived from each different height of column.

Recently, as interest in appearance has increased, various studies on treatment method for short stature are being conducted. In this study, the effect of growth plate stimulation on the height growth of children and adolescents was studied. As a result of pre- and post-analysis of the experimental group, it was confirmed that the difference in average height according to growth plate stimulation was relatively large. In addition, in the results of analyzing the effects of demographic factors on the height growth of the experimental group and the control group, weight showed the greatest influence on height growth among the demographic factors affecting the height growth of the experimental group. The effect on the height growth of the control group was found to have an effect in the order of age, weight, and father's height. The difference in height changed post-mortem between the experimental group and the control group was 1.10 cm for 3 months, and the difference was the result of growth plate stimulation. It was confirmed that growth plate stimulation had a significant effect on the height change of children and adolescents, except for weight, which is a common factor of height change in the experimental and control groups. Therefore, it is expected that it can be used as a treatment method for short stature.

This study proposes a method for identifying correlations between tension and drop height for sessile droplets in a roll-to-roll processing system. The effect of tension and drop height on the contact angle of a sessile droplet is presented. Design of experiment (DOE) methodology and statistical analysis are used to define a correlation between the process parameters. The contact angle is decreased while increasing tension and drop height. The influence of the tension is less significant on the contact angle compared with the effect of the drop height. However, tension should be considered as a major parameter because it is not easy to fix with roll eccentricity and compensating speed of the driven roll. The results of this study show that the effect of tension on the contact angle of a sessile droplet is more important than drop height because the drop height is fixed when the process systems are determined.
The purpose of this report is to evaluate effect of Korean medical treatment on idiopathic gonadotropin-dependent precocious puberty (G-DPP) patient received herbal medicine. We administered Aesopjiyoun-tang remedy to idiopathic G-DPP and analyzed the delay effect by hormonal value and radiographs; the height growth effect by measurement of height. After Korean medical treatment, suppression effect to peak-Luteinizing Hormone level (LHL) is 14.39IU/L to 10.9IU/L for 13month, growth effect to height value is 11cm/13month; and change of mean growth velocity (MGV) is 6.08cm/year to 10.06cm/year. The gain in height by treatment is 3.98cm/year. The result suggests Aesopjiyoun-tang can be an effective treatment for G-DPP. Herbal medicine can be used as an alternative treatment in place of the GnRH treatment.
The effect of buildings on flow in urban canopy is one of the most important problems in local/micro-scale meteorology. A large eddy simulation model is used to simulate the flow structure in an urban neighborhood and the bulk effect of the buildings on surrounding flows is analyzed. The results demonstrate that: (a) The inflow conditions affect the detailed flow characteristics much in the building group, including: the distortion or disappearance of the wake vortexes, the change of funneling effect area and the change of location, size of the static-wind area. (b) The bulk effect of the buildings leads to a loss of wind speed in the low layer where height is less than four times of the average building height, and this loss effect changes little when the inflow direction changes. (c) In the bulk effect to environmental fields, the change of inflow direction affects the vertical distribution of turbulence greatly. The peak value of the turbulence energy appears at the height of the average building height. The attribution of fluctuations of different components to turbulence changes greatly at different height levels, in the low levels the horizontal speed fluctuation attribute mostly, while the vertical speed fluctuation does in high levels.

The accurate prediction of grouting upward diffusion height is crucial for estimating the bearing capacity of tip-grouted piles. Borehole construction during the installation of bored piles induces soil unloading, resulting in both radial stress loss in the surrounding soil and an impact on grouting fluid diffusion. In this study, a modified model is developed for predicting grout diffusion height. This model incorporates the classical rheological equation of power-law cement grout and the cavity reverse expansion model to account for different degrees of unloading. A series of single-pile tip grouting and static load tests are conducted with varying initial grouting pressures. The test results demonstrate a significant effect of vertical grout diffusion on improving pile lateral friction resistance and bearing capacity. Increasing the grouting pressure leads to an increase in the vertical height of the grout. A comparison between the predicted values using the proposed model and the actual measured results reveals a model error ranging from -12.3% to 8.0%. Parametric analysis shows that grout diffusion height increases with an increase in the degree of unloading, with a more pronounced effect observed at higher grouting pressures. Two case studies are presented to verify the applicability of the proposed model. Field measurements of grout diffusion height correspond to unloading ratios of 0.68 and 0.71, respectively, as predicted by the model. Neglecting the unloading effect would result in a conservative estimate.
Effect of rib heights is found as significant parameter to enhance convective heat transfer performance under laminar and low turbulent regime. Circular ribs with different ribheight to channel height ratios, e/H = 0.05, 0.1, 0.15, are fabricated over the copper substrate respectively in a rectangular duct having 7.5 cross sectional aspect ratio. Only one rib pitch to rib height ratio (P/e = 10) has been chosen for all different height ribs. The result shows that the arithmetic average of turbulence intensity decreases with decreasing roughness height calculated between two ribs under laminar and low turbulent region. It occurs because the area of recirculation and reattachment zone also decreases with decreasing rib height. Optimum thermal enhancement factor is derived by 0.1 rib height to channel height ratio under low turbulent region but 0.15 rib height to channel height ratio gives maximum subjected to laminar flow.
Objective: This paper investigates gait changes according to different heel heights and speeds, and the interaction between the effects of the heel height and the speed during walking on stride parameters and joint angles. Furthermore, the relationship among heel height, speed and gait variables is investigated using linear regression. Background: Gait changes by heel height or speed have been studied respectively, but has not been reported whether there is an interaction effect between heel height and speed. It would be necessary to understand how gait changes when a person wears heels in different heights at various speeds, for example, high-heeled walking at fast speed, since it may cause unusual gait patterns and musculoskeletal disorders. Method: Ten females were asked to walk at five fixed cadences (94, 106, 118, 130 and 142 steps/min.) wearing three shoes with different heel heights (1, 5.4 and 9.8cm). Nineteen gait variables were analyzed for stride parameters and joint angles using two-way repeated measure analysis of variance and regression analysis. Results: Both heel height and speed affect movement of ankle, knee, spine and elbow joint, as well as stride length and Double/Single support time ratio. However, there is no significant interaction effect between heel height and speed. The regression result shows linear relationships of gait variables with heel height and speed. Conclusion: Heel height and speed independently affect stride parameters and joint angles without a significant interaction, so the gait variables are linearly amplified or diminished by the two factors. Application: Walking in high heels at fast speed should be careful for musculoskeletal disorders, since the amplified movement of knee and spine joint can lead to increased moment. Also, the result might give insight for animators or engineers to generate walking motion with high heels at various speeds.
Effects of ambient geometry on the liftoff characteristics are experimentally studied for nonpremixed turbulent jet flames. To clarify the inconsistency of the nozzle diameter effect on the liftoff height, the ambiences of finite and infinite domains are studied. For nonpremixed turbulent jet issuing from a straight nozzle to infinite domain, flame liftoff height increases linearly with nozzle exit mean velocity and is independent of nozzle diameter. With the circular plate installed on the upstream of nozzle exit, flame liftoff height is lower with plate at jet exit than without, but flame liftoff characteristics are similar to the case of infinite domain. For the confined jet having axisymmetric wall boundary, the ratio of the liftoff height and nozzle diameter is proportional to the nozzle exit mean velocity demonstrating the effect of the nozzle diameter on the liftoff height. The liftoff height increases with decreasing outer axisymmetric wall diameter. At blowout conditions, the blowout velocity decreases with decreasing outer axisymmetric wall diameter and liftoff heights at blowout are approximately 50 times of nozzle diameter.
