In this study, the present regulation of heat metering for the ground source heat pump was investigated. The ground source heat pump has been adopting the heat metering system used in the district heating system for estimating the heating and cooling energy production amount. The accuracy of the present heat metering systems for a water to water ground source heat pump is low, because the system for district heating has a relatively high temperature range comparing with the ground source heat pump operating conditions. Even though the heat amount for the building side should be measured, the heat absorption and extraction amount from or to the ground was measured for the water to air ground source heat pump due to the difficulty of estimating the air side heating and cooling capacity in the present regulation. It is highly recommended to validate the heat metering system to have reliability for the ground source heat pump and develop the system to be applicable water to air ground source heat pump.

This paper focuses on predicting the post-heating mechanical properties of cementitious composites reinforced with multi-scale additives using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) approach. A total of four different feed-forward ANN models are developed using 261 data sets collected from 18 published sources. The models are optimized using 12 input parameters selected based on a comprehensive literature review to predict the residual compressive strength, the residual flexural strengths, elastic modulus, and fracture energy of heat-damaged cementitious specimens. Furthermore, the ANN is employed to predict the impact of several variables including; the content of polypropylene (PP) microfibers and carbon nanotubes (CNTs) used in the concrete, mortar, or paste mix design, length of PP fibers, the average diameter of CNTs, and the average length of CNTs. The influence of the studied parameters is investigated at different heating levels ranged from 25℃ to 800℃. The results demonstrate that the developed ANN models have a strong potential for predicting the mechanical properties of the heated cementitious composites based on the mixing ingredients in addition to the heating conditions.

The performance of two typical types of solar hot water heating system was tested in Seoul. Types of systems studied are single-tank internal external heat exchanger system and single-tank internal heat exchanger system. Comparing to experimental results, a transient system simulation program was made to analyze the performance of the selected system. The climate data, Standard Weather Year for Seoul, required for the simulation was provided. Computer simulations were used to estimate the effect of significant parameters upon system performance. The followings are obtained. 1. In the domestic solar water Heating system, the value $20-40kg/m^2\;h$ for flow rate through the collector is much better than the recommended value $72kg/m^2\;h$ in the solar heating system. 2. The effectiveness of collector heat exchanger and storage tank size are found to have only a small effect upon system performance. 3. The hot water draw pattern has a significant effect on system performance. A higher system efficiency achieved when draw-off occurred around noon than when it occurred around early morning. Using the above results, the reference solar hot water system which provides $300\ell$ of hot water per day, was selected as a guide for designer. And simplified graphical method was developed based on the modified f-chart method to determine required collector area. When the system design parameters of the proposed system differs from the reference system, required collector area can be calculated from area adjustment factors.

Solar energy is one of the most important alternative energy sources which have been shown to meet high levels of heating and cooling demands in buildings. However, the efficiencies to satisfy these demands using solar energy significantly vary based on the characteristics of individual building. Therefore, this paper is focused on developing the methodology which can help to design optimal solar system for heating and cooling to be in cooperated within the existing buildings according to their load profiles. This research has established the Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) system which is composed of collectors, absorption chiller, boiler and heat storage tank. Each component of SHC system is analyzed and made by means of Modelica Language and Pistache tool is verified the results. Sequential approximate optimization (SAO) and meta-models determined to 15 design parameters to optimize SHC system. Finally, total coefficient of performance (COP) of the entire SHC system is improved approximately 7.3% points compared to total COP of the base model of the SHC system.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of various metal surface treatments and adhesive systems on the flexural bond strength of composite resin to Au-Ag-Cu-Pd alloy. The specimens were divided into nine groups by the combinations of surface treatment methods and adhesive systems. The types of surface treatment in this study were alumina blasting only, alumina blasting-Sn plating, alumina blasting-heating and three kinds of adhesive system used in this study were Silicoater system(Heraeus Kulzer GmbH,Germany), Superbond C & B(Sun Medical Co.,Ltd.,Japan) and Cesead opaque primer(Kurary Co.,Ltd.,Japan). After surface treatments and adhesive systems were applied, each specimen was built up with Dentacolor composite resin (Heraeus Kulzer GmbH,Germany). Four-point flexural bond strength was measured by Instron universal testing machine (Model 4301,U.S.A.) and modes of failure were observed by SEM(JEOL,SSM-840A,Japan). The obtained results were as follows: 1. The group that was bonded with Superbond C & B after alumina blasting-heating shelved the highest bond strength with significant difference among the groups, except the group with Cesead opaque primer after alumina blasting-Sn plating(P<0.05). 2. In the groups bonded with Cesead opaque primer, there was significant difference only in the bond strength between the alumina blasting-Sn plating group and alumina blasting group, where the former showed a higher bond strength(P<0.05). 3. In the groups bonded with Silicoater system, there were no significant differences in bond strength regardless of the surface treatment method(P<0.05). 4. In SEM evaluation, the groups of high bond strength, especially bonded with Superbond C & B after alumina blasting-heating and Cesead opaque primer after alumina blasting-Sn plating, revealed mainly cohesive-adhesive failure, whereas the others showed the tendency of adhesive failure.

The fact that gas hydrate and/or paraffin wax is frequently plugged in offshore pipeline has been become very significant for offshore piepline flow assurance. An active electrical heating along pipeline has adapted in resolving flow assurance problem like as gas hydrate and wax plugging. This study represents a novel internal-swirled heater which was designed and fabricated for more effective heating and thermal mixing through pipeline. The internal-swirled heater suggested in this study shows higher thermal mixing performances than the conventional external-traced heater.

The global decrease in traditional energy resources has prompted increasing energy demand, necessitating efforts to replace and optimize energy sources. This study focuses on enhancing energy efficiency in manufacturing plants, known for their high energy consumption. Through simulations and analyses, the study proposes a temperature-based control system for HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, and Air Conditioning) operations, utilizing machine learning algorithms to predict and optimize factory temperatures. The results indicate that this approach, particularly the prediction-based free cooling algorithm, can achieve over 10% energy savings compared to existing systems. This paper presents that implementing an efficient HVAC control system can significantly reduce overall factory energy consumption, with plans to apply it to real factories in the future.
This is to provide basic information and technical data, supported by literature search, for use in designing and /or evaluating ventilation systems for broiler shelters. At first, the general design information including weather data, building requirements, ventilation requirements, and supplemental heating and cooling, was presented. Then, environment requirements for broilers, which are for temperature, humidity, air movement, radiant heat, were described and the optimal ventilation systems for broiler were developed.
Application of geothermal energy in buildings has been gaining popularity as it provides the benefits of both heating and cooling a building. Among the various types of geothermal energy systems, ground-coupled heat pump system is the most commonly applied one in South Korea. A ground heat exchanger plays an important role as a heat source in winter and a heat sink in summer. For the stable operation of a ground-coupled heat pump system, a ground heat exchanger should be sized so that it provides sufficient heating and cooling energy. Heating and cooling energies generated in ground heat exchangers mainly depend on the temperature difference between the heating medium in ground heat exchangers and the surrounding ground. In addition, the performance of ground heat exchangers influences the change in ground temperature. Therefore, it is necessary to consider this interrelation between the change in the ground temperature and the performance of ground heat exchanger for an accurate estimation of its performance. However, previous thermal analysis models for ground heat exchangers are not competent enough to allow a complete understanding of this interrelation. Therefore, this study proposes a three-dimensional equivalent, transient ground heat exchanger analysis model. First, a previous thermal analysis model for ground heat exchangers, including an analytical model, a g-function, and a numerical model are analyzed. Next, to overcome the limitations of the previous models, a three-dimensional equivalent, transient ground heat exchanger model is proposed. Finally, this study validated the proposed model with the measurement data of the thermal response test, sandbox test, and TRNSYS DST model. All validation results showed a good agreement. These findings helped us to investigate the thermal performance of ground heat exchangers more accurately than the analytical models, and faster than the numerical models. Furthermore, the proposed model contributes to the design of ground heat exchangers by considering the different operation conditions of buildings.
Purpose: The underground air is the warm air discharged from the porous volcano bedrock 30-50m underground in Jeju, including excessive humidity. The temperature of the underground air is $15-20^{\circ}C$ throughout the year. In Jeju, the underground air was used for heating greenhouses by supplying into greenhouses directly. This heating method by supplying the underground air into greenhouses directly had several problems. The study was conducted to develop the heat pump system using underground air as heat source for resolving excessive humidity problem of the underground air, adopting the underground air as a farm supporting project by Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs(MAFRA) and saving heating cost for agricultural facilities. Method: 35kW scale(10 RT) heat pump system using underground air installed in a greenhouse of area $330m^2$ in Jeju-Special Self-Governing Province Agricultural Research & Extension Services, Seogwipo-si, Jeju. The inlet and outlet water temperature of the condenser, the evaporator and the thermal storage tank and the underground air temperature and the air temperature in the greenhouse were measured by T type thermocouples. The data were collected and saved in a data logger(MV200, Yokogawa, Japan). Flow rates of water flowing in the condenser, the evaporator and the thermal storage tank were measured by an ultrasonic flow meter(PT868, Panametrics, Norway). The total electric power that consumed by the system was measured by a wattmeter(CW240, Yokogawa, Japan). Heating COP, rejection heat of condenser, extraction heat of evaporator and heating cost were analyzed. Result: The underground air in Jeju was adopted as a farm supporting project by Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs(MAFRA) in 2010. From 2011, the heat pump systems using underground air as a heat source were installed in 12 farms(16.3ha) in Jeju.
