A comparative study of ultra-trace-level uranium by thermal ionization mass spectrometry with continuous heating: Static and peak-jumping modes

  • For ensuring nuclear safeguards, we report the analytical signal-detection performance of thermal ionization mass spectrometry (TIMS) with continuous heating for the measurement of isotopic ratios in samples containing ultra-trace amounts of uranium. As methods for detecting uranium signals, peak-jumping mode using a single detector and static mode using multiple detectors were examined with U100 (10% 235U-enriched) uranium standard samples in the femtogram-to-picogram range. Uranium isotope ratios, n(235U)/n(238U), were measured down to levels of 1 fg and 3 fg in static and peak-jumping modes, respectively, while n(234U)/n(238U) and n(236U)/n(238U) values were measured down to levels of 100 fg in both modes. In addition, the dependency of the 238U signal intensity on sample quantity exhibited similar tendencies in both modes. The precisions of the isotope ratios obtained in the static mode over all sample ranges used in this study were overall slightly higher than those obtained in peak-jumping mode. These results indicate that isotope ratio measurements by TIMS with continuous heating are almost independent of the detection method, i.e., peak-jumping mode or static mode, which is characteristic of isotope-ratio measurements using the TIMS method with continuous heating. TIMS with continuous heating is advantageous as it exhibits the properties of multiple detectors within a single detector, and is expected to be used in various fields in addition to ensuring nuclear safeguards.

자동가열침의 진통 효과 (The Analgesic Effects of Automatically Controlled Heating Acupuncture)

  • Objectives : The present study was conducted to evaluate the analgesic effects of automatically controlled heating acupuncture(ACHA) using 2 different pain models(acute pain and neuropathic pain) and 2 different stimulation conditions (heating $41.5^{\cdot}C$ and heating $44.5^{\cdot}C$) in Sprague-Dawley rats. Methods : Tail flick latency(TFL) to a noxious radiant heat stimulus in lightly anesthetized rats was measured before and after ACHA stimulation for 5-min at the Zusanli(ST36) acupoint. For the neuropathic surgery, the right superior caudal trunk was resected at the level between S1 and S2 spinal nerves innervating the tail. Two weeks after the nerve injury, ACHA stimulation($41.5^{\cdot}C$ or $44.5^{\cdot}C$) was delivered to Zusanli(ST36) for 5 min. The behavioral signs of warm allodynia were evaluated by the tail immersion test (i.e. immersing the tail in warm $water(40^{\cdot}C)$ and measuring the latency to an abrupt tail movement) before and after the ACHA stimulation. Results : In the TFL test, ACHA stimulations under both the conditions above produced more potent analgesic effects than plain acupuncture(PA, acupuncture needle insertion only) and control(no treatment). In the tail immersion test, ACHA stimulations under all of the conditions had markedly relieved the warm allodynia signs. Conclusion : Automatically controlled heating acupul1cture produced analgesic effecs in acute and neuropathic pains.

  • 화재시 콘크리트의 성능저하는 재하조건, 열팽창 및 크리프 등과 같은 여러 가지 요인에 대하여 영향을 받을 수 있다. 1950년대부터 일본, 유럽, 미국과 같은 선진외국에서는 고온을 받은 콘크리트의 특성에 관하여 많은 연구들이 행해지고 있으나 재하조건, 가열방법, 시험체의 크기 및 가열장치의 성능 등과 같은 다양한 요인들이 연구자들의 독자적인 방법에 의해 실험이 진행되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 시험체 크기, 가열속도, 시험방법이 유사한 일본 및 국내의 연구를 바탕으로 가열 및 재하를 받은 콘크리트의 역학적 성능에 대하여 분석하였으며, 상온 및 고온에서의 상관관계분석, 압축강도 추정곡선을 산출하여 CEN 및 CEB code와 비교 평가하였다. 그결과 재하가열을 받은 콘크리트는 $100^{\circ}C{\sim}400^{\circ}C$의 범위에서 역학적 특성에 대한 재평가의 필요성을 확인하였다.

전열침(傳熱鍼)과 일반 침의 병행치료가 발목 염좌로 인한 외측인대 2도 손상에 미치는 임상적 효과 (The Clinical Effects of Heating-conduction Acupuncture Therapy with General Acupuncture Therapy for Lateral Ligament Injury Induced by Ankle Sprain Grade II)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effects of heating-conduction therapy on lateral ligament injury induced by ankle sprain grade II. Methods: The 67 outpatients who were diagnosed as ankle sprain grade II were performed heating-conduction acupuncture therapy on lateral ligament injury. To evaluate the efficiency of heating-conduction acupuncture therapy, pain threshold with pressure algometer and visual analogue scale(VAS) were applied pretreatment and after 1st, 2nd treatment. Results: 1. The pain threshold and VAS score after 1st and 2nd treatment with an isolated injury of the anterior talofibular ligament showed statistically significant improvement compared with pretreatment. 2. The VAS score after 1st and 2nd treatment with an combined injury to the anterior talofibular and the calcaneofibular ligament showed statistically significant improvement compared with pretreatment. 3. The VAS score after 1st and 2nd treatment with an combined injury to the anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligament showed statistically significant improvement compared with pretreatment. 4. After 1st and 2nd treatment on the posterior talofibular ligament and after 2nd treatment on the anterior taofibular and calcaneofibular ligament with an combined injury to the anterior talofibular, calcaneofibular and posterior talofibular ligament the pain threshold showed statistically significant improvement compared with pretreatment. 5. Between isolated injury and combined injury of lateral ligament, the difference in pain threshold and VAS score was not statistically significant. Conclusions: Heating-conduction acupuncture therapy has clinical effects of pain reduction on patient with an isolated injury and combined injury of lateral ligament induced by ankle sprain grade II.

전열침(傳熱鍼)이 급성 족관절 염좌로 인한 전거비·종비 인대 손상에 미치는 임상적 효과 (The Clinical Effects of Heating-Conduction Acupuncture Therapy for Anterior Talofibular and Calcaneofibular Ligament Injury Induced by Acute Ankle Sprain)

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the clinical effects of heating-conduction acupuncture therapy on ligament injury induced by acute ankle sprain. Methods : From september 16, 2008 to April 17, 2010, the 28 outpatients who had admitted to department of oriental rehabilitation medicine, Dae-Jeon oriental Medical hospital, Dae-Jeon university with acute ankle sprain were performed heating-conduction acupuncture therapy on anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligament injury. To evaluate the efficiency of heating-conduction acupuncture therapy, pain threshold with pressure algometer and visual analogue scale(VAS) were applied before treatment and after 1st, 2nd treatment. Results : 1. The pain threshold and the VAS score showed statistical significant improvement after 1st treatment on calcaneofibular and anterior talofibular ligament injury. 2. The VAS score after 2nd treatment on calcaneofibular and anterior talofibular ligament injury showed statistical significant improvement compared with that after 1st treatment. 3. The pain threshold after 2nd treatment on calcaneofibular and anterior talofibular ligament injury did not show statistical significant improvement compared with that after 1st treatment. 4. The difference between anterior talofibular and calcaneofibular ligament injury was not statistical significant in pain threshold and VAS score. Conclusions : Heating-conduction acupuncture therapy has clinical effects of pain reduction on patient with calcaneofibular ligament injury as well as anterior talofibular ligament induced by acute ankle sprain.

가열에 의한 플라스틱 렌즈의 변화 연구 (Study on the Changes of Ophthalmic Plastic Lens due to Heating)

  • 목적: 가열에 의한 플라스틱 렌즈의 변화를 연구하고자 하였다. 방법: -2.00D의 플라스틱 렌즈를 60-100$^{\circ}C$의 온도로 가열한 후 렌즈 굴절력의 변화, 표면 상태의 변화, 투과율의 변화를 조사하였다. 결과: 70$^{\circ}C$에서 1시간, 75$^{\circ}C$에서 10분, 100$^{\circ}C$에서 10초가 렌즈 표면의 변화를 일으키는 시작점으로, 가열온도가 높을수록, 중굴절률렌즈보다 고굴절률렌즈에서 균열이 더 심하게 발생되었다. 투과율은 균열의 정도가 심해짐에 따라 감소되었다. 결론: 70$^{\circ}C$이상의 가열은 렌즈에 변형을 발생시킬 수 있으므로 안경사는 착용자의 작업환경을 고려하여 적절한 렌즈를 추천하여야 하며, 착용자가 안경 사용에 주의를 기울일 수 있도록 안내를 해야 할 것이다.

나노탄소섬유 적외선등 난방이 절화장미의 생육과 수명 및 난방비에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Heating by Nano-Carbon Fiber Infrared Lamps on Growth and Vase Life of Cut Roses and Heating Cost)

  • 장미 생산농가의 대부분은 겨울철 난방비가 생산비의 가장 큰 몫을 차지한다. 요즘과 같은 고유가 시대에 농가의 부담을 줄이기 위하여 난방비 절감율이 높은 난방시스템에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 복사열을 이용한 적외선 등 난방의 경우 식물체와 같은 물체를 먼저 가열하여 주변의 기온이 올리는 방식으로 빠르게 온도를 높일 수 있고 경유를 이용한 난방방식에 비해 비용이 절감되는 장점이 있다. 농가에 설치된 나노탄소 섬유 적외선 등 난방시스템의 현지조사를 실시하여 난방효과 및 난방비 절감율을 분석하고, 나노탄소섬유 적외선 등 난방시스템과 전기히터 난방시스템에서 생산된 '오렌지 플레쉬' 장미의 생육과 절화수명을 조사하였다. 나노탄소섬유 적외선 등의 경우 온실 내부 공기 설정온도가 $20^{\circ}C$인 경우 식물체 온도는 $1{\sim}2^{\circ}C$정도 더 높게 나타났을 뿐만 아니라 베드와 근권부 온도는 $17{\sim}19^{\circ}C$ 정도로 유지하는 등 우수한 난방의 효과를 알 수 있었고, 전기히터 난방시스템과 온수보일러 난방시스템의 추정 난방비를 비교한 결과 난방비 절감 효과가 아주 높게 나타났다. 장미의 생육을 조사한 결과 전기히터 난방시스템에서 생육한 장미와 차이가 없었으며 화색이나 염색의 발현이 더 좋았다. 절화수명에서는 나노탄소섬유 적외선 등에서 생육한 장미가 생체중과 수분 흡수량이 높아 다소 더 길어진 절화수명을 뒷받침 해 주었다.

건어물을 이용한 조리음식의 미생물학적 위해 감소를 위한 조리 전처리 적용 효과 (Effect of Applying Pretreatment Methods before cooking for decreasing the Microbiological Hazard of Cooked Dried fish in Foodservice establishments)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the microbiological hazards of dried fish (Jwieochae, Ojingeochae and Bugeochae), and to apply pretreatment methods to increase the safety of cooked dried fish within foodservice establishments. Microbiological inspections were conducted on Total Plate Count, Coliforms, E. coli, E. coli O157:H7, Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes. The study results are summarized as follows. According to the Hazard analysis, there are many problems showing high numbers in terms of Total Plate Count and Coliforms, which were both well over acceptable standard levels. E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus were detected at certain foodservice establishments, while E. coli O157:H7, Salmonella spp. and Listeria monocytogenes were not detected at all. By applying various pretreatment methods, such as washing, blanching, pan frying and microwave heating, the levels of microbiological hazards were able to be controlled and lowered. Blanching was the most effective method, followed by panfrying, microwave heating and washing. The Total Plate Counts gradually decreased with increasing number of times washed and seconds panfried. From these results, it is concluded that to guarantee food safety, cooked dried fish raw materials should be kept hygienically and appropriate pretreatment methods applied before cooking.

지역난방의 일반제어 및 열량제어 에너지 시뮬레이션 (Energy Simulation for Conventional and Thermal-Load Controls in District Heating)

  • Korea district heating systems have mainly used setting temperature control and outdoor reset control. Different from such conventional normal methods, a thermal-load control proposed in Sweden can decrease the return temperature and reduce pump power consumptions because the control is able to provide the appropriate amount of required heat. In this study, further improved predictive optimal control in addition to the conventional controls were simulated in order to verify its effect in district heating system using TRNSYS 17. $200m^2$ apartment housing which accounts for 25% in Korea and is used as a calculation model;. the number of households in the simulation was 9. As a result, a higher temperature difference and decreasing flow rate at primary loop were shown when using thermal-load control.

  • For the optimal design of the induction heating cooker, precise and accurate analysis of the magnetic field inside the jar must be achieved first. Until now, design methods based on experience has been used in industry field. But this takes a lot of trial and error, high cost and also long development time. So the analysis of the magnetic field distribution is very important. In this paper the magnetic field inside the induction heating cooker is analyzed by using axisymmetrical FEM(finite element method). And the method of the coil location design for the optimal heat source distribution using sensitivity analysis is developed. In addition, the shielding effect of the non-axisymmetrical 3-D ferrite structure used in induction heating cooker is also analyzed by the integral method.
