  • Heating films were prepared with composites of poly (methyl methacrylate) and conductive graphite. The as-prepared composite was deposited on a PET film and then fabricated using a bar coater to produce a film with uniform thickness. Copper electrodes were attached to both ends of the as-prepared film, and the heating characteristics of the film were analyzed while applying a DC voltage. The electrical conductivity and heating temperature of the heating films depended on the size, structure, content, and the dispersion characteristics of the graphite in the composite. The thermal energy was adjusted by controlling the electrical energy, based on the Joule heating theory. The electrical resistance of the film was altered in proportion to Ohm's law, and the heating temperature was changed according to the structure of the film (interelectrode spacing or electrode length) and the conductive graphite content. When the content of conductive graphite in the film increases, the electrical resistance decreases, and the heating temperature increases; however, there is no significant change above a certain content (50%).

  • In order to reduce the energy consumption of the building, much effort is being made. The problems are that excessive solar radiation in summer and the heat loss in winter by the increase of window area. To prevent this problems, government limited the window area ratio or the performance of windows in new buildings. In order to reduce energy consumption of the existing buildings, the window film insulation is spotlight because the window film insulation was simple to installation. This study confirmed the performance of the window film insulation and affect to heating & cooling load of buildings. The impact of the window film insulation coating was confirmed by experiment. And this study confirmed the annual heating & cooling load by simulation. As a results, the surface temperature of coated window was higher than the surface temperature of existing window. The window film insulation was increased surface temperature of window. And this study confirmed that the increased surface temperature was slightly affected the room air temperature through experiment of the insulation box. The results of the heating and cooling load by simulation, this study confirmed that the case of coated window film insulation decreased cooling load in summer and increased heating load in winter. Also the annual total heating & cooling load was increased a little in the case of coated the window film insulation.

  • Drying and curing characteristics of PCM resins using the induction heater and short-wave infrared emitter module was studied to develop a compact oven system for the high speed CCL and post-treatment equipment. Drying of the polyester resins using the induction heater and infrared heater showed that the blistering tendency of polyester resin coating increased regardless of additives and colors of resins as the heating rate and/or dry film thickness increased. The blistering of polyester resin coating layer occurred when the heating speed was over than $25^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness of $19\~20um$, which is the typical thickness of finish coating in CCL. So did it when the heating speed was over than $40^{\circ}C/sec$ for the dry film thickness over than 10 um. The heating efficiency of paint coated steels by the infrared heating was strongly dependent on the colors of paint coating and generally increased for the dark surface and/or coating. But the faster drying of the PCM resin coatings increased the blistering tendency of coating layer. The blistering limit for the typical finish coating by the infrared heating was estimated as the heating rate slower than $20^{\circ}C/sec$ regardless of colors of PCM resins.

  • We developed a new RF indirect-heating LPE furnace. The thermal gradient of our newly developed furnace is less than that of direct heating, and is as gentle as that of the resistance-heating LPE furnace. With this new furnace, the heating and/or cooling is faster than that of the resistance-heating furnace. Impurity-doped YIG film was grown from a $PbO-B_{2}O_{3}$, based flux on a (111) GGG substrate. To study the effect of the impurities on the MSSW threshold power and the saturation response time, we used two microstrip lines to excite and propagate the MSSW at 1.9 GHz. The MSSW threshold power and saturation response time was found to be related to the $\Delta$H.

  • Currently used heating elements are metal and non-metal heating elements, including various types of heaters, and resistance line heating elements have a problem of decreasing thermal efficiency over time, so to solve this problem, a planar heating element using high-purity carbon materials and oxidation-resistant inorganic compounds was applied. Through the manufacture of planar heating elements using CNT, ruthenium composite materials, and ruthenium oxide, physicochemical performance and capacity were increased, and instantaneous responsiveness was increased. Through thick film technology applicable to various base bodies, fine patterns were formed by the screening method in consideration of the fact that the performance of the heat source depends on the viscosity and pattern shape. The heating element was manufactured by thick film printing technology by mixing ruthenium oxide, CNT, Ag, etc. The characteristics of each paste were analyzed through viscosity measurement, and STS 430 was used as a base. Surface temperature and efficiency were measured by testing heaters manufactured for small wind tunnels and real-vehicle experiments. The surface temperature decreased as the air volume increased, and the optimal system boundary was found to be about 200 mm. Among the currently used heating elements, this paper manufactured a planar heating element using thick film technology to find out the relationship between air volume and temperature, and to study the surface temperature.

  • The silver thick film has been used in many industries such as display, chip, solar cell, automobile, and decoration with conventional heating. The silver thick film is fired with optimal time and temperature. However, decreasing the fabrication time is required due to high production power. Furthermore, there is a problem that silver in electrode is diffused throughout any substrates. For inhibiting the Ag diffusion and long fabrication time we considered a microwave heating. We investigated firing of silver thick film with conventional and microwave heating. The temperature of substrate was measured by thermal paper and the temperature of substrate was under $100\;^{\circ}C$ The shrinkage of electrode was measured with optical microscopy and optical profilometry. The shrinkage of electrode heat treated with microwave for 5min was similar to the that fired by the conventional heating for several hours. After firing by two types of heating, the diffusion of silver was determined using a optical microscope. The microstructure of sintered silver thick film was observed by SEM. Based on our results, the microwave heating should be a candidate heating source for the fabrication electronic devices in terms of saving the tact time and preventing the contamination of substrate.

  • This paper describes an optimal design of electric snow melting mat on vulnerable walk zone. In order to design an optimal electric power of snow melting mat and protect pedestrians with a nonslip mat, with considering protection of environmental pollution from abusing of the de-icing salts added calcium chloride. We analyzed nine snow melting mats through verification experiment in the condition of $-5^{\circ}C$, depending on three different kinds of heating material, electric heating cable, carbon heating film and carbon textile film. As a consequence, the $150W/m^2$ carbon textile film mat for snow melting was identified as an optimal power input and functional performance for pedestrians' safety on vulnerable walk zone. It is expected that the $150W/m^2$ carbon textile film mat would be useful to reduce slip down accidents by human error.

  • This work studies the effects of transient reflectance on the thermal responses of a metal(gold) thin-film during ultrashort laser heating. The heating process is calculated using the conventional conduction model (parabolic one-step: POS), parabolic two-step model (PTS) with and without variable properties, hyperbolic two-step model (HTS). Results from the HTS model are very similar to those from the PTS model, since the laser heating time in this study is greater than the electron relaxation time. PTS model with variable properties, however, results in totally different temperature profiles compared to those from POS models or calculation with constant properties. Transient reflectances are estimated from electron temperature distributions and based on the linear relationship between the electron temperature and complex dielectric constants. Reflectance of the front surface can be changed with respect to dielectric constants, while those of the rear surface remain unchanged.

  • Jet impinging device is designed for decay heat removal on horizontal fuel rods in a low temperature heating reactor. An experimental system with a fuel rod simulator is established and experiments are performed to evaluate water film covering capacity, within 0.0287-0.0444 kg/ms mass flow rate, 0-164.1 kW/m2 heating flux and 13.8-91.4℃ feeding water temperature. An effective method to obtain the film coverage rate by infrared equipment is proposed. Water film flowing patterns are recoded and the film coverage rates at different circumference angles are measured. It is found the film coverage rate decreases with heating flux during single-phase convection, while increases after onset of nucleate boiling. Besides, film coverage rate is found affected by Marangoni effect and film accelerating effect, and surface wetting is significantly facilitated by bubble behavior. Based on the observed phenomenon and physical mechanism, dry-out depth and initial dry-out rate are proposed to evaluate film covering potential on a heating surface. A model to predict film coverage rate is proposed based on the data. The findings would have reliable guide and important implications for further evaluation and design of decay heat removal system of new reactors, and could be helpful for passive containment cooling research.
