  • High-aspect-ratio(max. 12.5) microchannels with excellent surface quality and good shape uniformity have been realized utilizing laser-induced etching technique. Etch width and depth variations depend largely upon process variables such as laser power and etchant concentration. Etchant concentration in association with viscosity also influence on the cross-sectional profile of the channels. The optimum process conditions for the fabrication of high-aspect-ratio microchannels applicable to micro thermal devices are demonstrated.

Tandem 용접을 이용한 풍력타워 원주용접부 잔류응력 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Characteristic of Residual Stresses in a wind Tower Using the Tandem Circumferential Welding Process)

  • This research proposes FEM analysis for Tandem welding process used in wind tower and predicts optimal welding process to improve the stability of welded structures. Three dimensional elasto-plastic analyses are employed to evaluate thermo-mechanical behavior of residual stress and deformation during Tandem welding for different distance between two touches. To confirm the thermal distribution, Goldak's ellipse heat source model and the real size wind tower pipe model are utilized. Four different analyses are being performed, where in each case the distance between two electrode torches is being changed and residual stress and welding deformation are predicted. Depending on base material state, each case is divided into: Liquid (100mm), Austenite+Liquid (200mm), Austenite+Cementite (400mm), Pearlite+Cementite (800mm).

  • In this study, the performance of automatic thermostatic valves according to each heating method of a large scale residential building were researched by simulation. The flow characteristics of the entire pipe networks of the hot water radiant heating system is analized by using linear analysis method. For the analysis of unsteady heat transfer phenomena in each household, the method of using electric equivalent R-C circuit is applied.

  • In the present work, a new freeze protection method has been proposed for a natural circulation system of solar water heater. Though electrothermal wire is popularly used for the purpose, there are freezing troubles by wire cut-off and excessive electric power consumption. In the experimental device, hot water in a storage tank was circulated by a small pump and used to heat the outdoor pipes if the cold water pipe surface temperature falls lower than a set point. As a result, It was observed that there was no hot water waste while the solar water heating system operated without freeze and burst.

  • To perform ultrasonic testing (UT) thickness measurement of the secondary side piping installed in nuclear power plants, the insulation for preventing heat loss should be removed. The type of insulation can be divided into fixed and removable insulation. Fixed and removable insulation have their own strengths and weaknesses. Removable insulation has been installed in the components susceptible to wall thinning caused by FAC and erosion from Shin-Kori unit 1, which commenced its commercial operation in 2011. In this paper, the number of repeated inspections of components and the number of replacements of fixed insulation were estimated and a more economical way was identified based on the manufacturing and installation costs for fixed and removable insulation.

계면활성제 첨가수용액의 제빙에 관한 기초연구 (Study on Ice Making Behavior of Water Solution with Surfactant)

  • Recently, a great attention has been paid to the ice thermal storage system for the purpose of energy saving and reduction in peak electrical demand. In the present study, it has been investigated the freezing behavior of several kinds of water solutions with nonionic surfactant. In order to prevent ice blockage in a cooled pipe, the amount and wall adhesion behavior of ice of the test fluids were observed experimentally under different concentration of water solution with surfactant, temperature of cooled wall, and the shear velocity of test fluids. The results showed that the size of ice crystal became smaller at higher shear velocity at wall. And the lowest limit of wall adhesion of ice in water solution with surfactant was found at 230 W/$m^2$ of heat flux.

  • 소형 히트파이프에서 ?을 구리망사 또는 그루브를 적용할 수 있고 그루브 형상은 U, V 등 다양하다. 망사?은 모세압이 큰 잇점이 있어나 제작 단가가 높다. 그루브?은 대량생산이 용이하나 전밀 가공 기술이 요구된다. 현재까지 국내에서는 노트북 PC의 CPU 냉각에 사용한 소형 히트파이프의 전량을 해외에서 구매하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 직경 7 mm U형 그루브 관을 인발하여 관직경을 축소한 결과 내경 3.6 mm의 외경 4mm 의 V형 그루브관을 얻을 수 있었다. 이 관을 이용하여 소형 히트파이프를 제작하고 열전달 성능 시험을 수행하였다. 열전달 한계는 40~6$0^{\circ}C$ 범위작동온도 경사각 0$^{\circ}$ 에서 3 W를 얻을 수 있었다. U형 그루브 히트파이프에 비하여 모세압 저하로 인하여 낮은 값을 나타내었다. 열저항을 약 0.7~l.3 $^{\circ}C$/W 로 U형 그루브와 유사하였다.

수평평활 세관 내에서의 R-290, R-600a, R-22의 응축열전달과 압력강하 특성 (Condensation Heat Transfer Characteristics and Pressure Drop of R-290, R-600a, and R-22 in Horizontal Smooth Pipes with a Small Diameter)

  • 본 연구에서는 내경이 각각 5.80 mm와 10.07 mm인 두 개의 수평 이중관열교환기 내에서의 탄화수소계 냉매의 응축열전달과 압력강하에 대한 실험을 $35.5{\sim}210.4\;kg/m^2\;s$의 질량유속과 응축온도인 $40^{\circ}C$에서 수행하였다. 탄화수소계 냉매 R-290과 R-600a의 응축열전달계수가 프레온계 냉매인 R-22보다 높았다. 응축압력강하는 R-600a > R-290 > R-22 순으로 나타났고, 내경이 5.8 mm인 관 내 보다 10.07 mm인 관 내의 압력강하가 R-600a에서는 $6{\sim}15%$ 정도 높았으며, R-290과 R-22에서는 각각 $9.8{\sim}12.5%$$2.1{\sim}4.6%$ 정도 높게 나타났다. 실험으로 구한 응축열전달계수와 종래의 상관관계식을 비교해 본 결과, 모든 관경에 대해 Haraguchi 등의 상관관계식과 가장 좋은 일치를 보였다.
