버너와 열교환기 간격 변화에 대한 열전달 특성 (Heat Transfer Characteristics with Changing Distances between Burner and Heat Exchanger)

  • 본 연구는 비예혼합화염보다 화염길이가 짧고 당량비 조절을 통해 NOx 및 CO 배출량을 제어할 수 있는 예혼합방식의 버너를 설치하고, 버너와 열교환기 사이의 거리가 각각 30, 40, 50mm인 3종의 열교환기에 대해 당량비를 변화시킬 때 NOx 및 CO의 배출특성을 비교하고 열교환기의 열전달특성을 검토한 것이다. 실험결과 버너와 열교환기의 거리변화와 관계없이 당량비가 증가할수록 화염온도가 높아져 NOx 및 CO 배출량도 증가한다. 또한 CO 배출량은 버너와 열교환기 사이의 거리가 가까울수록 높게 나타난다. 본 실험범위에서 A type 열교환기(버너와 열교환기 사이 거리 30 cm)를 당량비 0.75(CO 94.5ppm, NOx 11.2ppm, 효율 84.1%)에서 운전하는 것이 최적조건으로 나타났다.

  • In order to get the infrared ray radiator with high efficiency emission, the starting raw material $Fe_2O_3$ powder is heat-treated under the oxygen pressure log[$PO_2$] = -13~15 at $800^{\circ}C$ for 2hours. It has shown that the radiation rate was larger than 0.85 at the relatively high temperature($400^{\circ}C$), and decreased slowly with increasing the temperature from 50 to $400^{\circ}C$.

디젤기관에 있어서 흡기습도 변화가 연소 특성과 배기배출물 특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Suction Air Humidity on the Combustion and Exhaust Emissions Characteristics in Diesel Engine)

  • A study on the combustion and exhaust emissions characteristics of diesel engine with various suction air humidity is performed experimentally. In this paper, suction air humidity is changed from RH 50% to RH 90%, the experiments are performed at engine speed 1800rpm, and main measured parameters are cylinder pressure, fuel consumption rate, CO, HC, NOx and Soot emissions etc. Increase of suction air humidity from RH 50% to RH 90% does not effect specific fuel consumption, decreases maximum pressure in cylinder, ratio of maximum pressure rise and net heat release, and delays ignition timing. Also, that increases CO and HC emissions, decreases NOx emissions, but does not constant in changing tendency on emission.

  • [$CO_2$] is a well-known greenhouse gas, which is the major source of global warming. Many researchers have studied to reduce $CO_2$ emission in combustion processes. The central method of low $CO_2$ emission is Oxygen/CxHy combustion. Theoretically Oxygen/CxHy combustion only produces $CO_2\;and\;H_2O$ and allows convenient recovery of $CO_2$. The combustion characteristics, flame stability, composition in the flame zone and temperature profile were studied experimentally for various compositions of oxidant by substituting $CO_2\;for\;N_2$ with the constant $O_2$ concentration. Results showed that flame became unstable due to the high heat capacity, low transport rate and strong radiation effect of $CO_2$ in comparison with those of $N_2$. The reaction zone was quenched and broadened, as the ratio of $CO_2\;to\;N_2$ was increased. The emission of NOx in flue gas decreased due to the decreased temperature of the reaction zone. As the conversion ratio of $CO_2\;to\;N_2$ was increased, the emission of CO and the higher temperature zone increased due to decrease of reaction rate by the a quenching effect.

EFFECT OF ADDITIVE ON THE HEAT RELEASE RATE AND EMISSIONS OF HCCI COMBUSTION ENGINES FUELED WITH RON90 FUELS

  • The effect of the di-tertiary butyl peroxide (DTBP) additive on the heat release rate and emissions of a homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) engine fueled with high Research Octane Number (RON) fuels were investigated. The experiments were performed using 0%, 1%, 2%, 3%, and 4% (by volume) DTBP-RON90 blends. The RON90 Fuel was obtained by blending 90% iso-octane with 10% n-heptane. The experimental results show that the operation range was remarkably expanded to lower temperature and lower engine load with the DTBP additive in RON90 fuel. The first ignition phase of HCCI combustion was observed at 850 K and ended at 950 K while the hot ignition occurred at 1125 K for all fuels at different engine working conditions. The chemical reaction scale time decreases with the DTBP addition. As a result, the ignition timing advances, the combustion duration shortens, and heat release rates were increased at overall engine loads. Meanwhile, the unburned hydrocarbon (UHC) and CO emissions decrease sharply with the DTBP addition while the NOx emissions maintain at a lower level.

Far Infrared Emissivity of Wood Material - Comparing the Three Heat Transfer Modes of Wood Box and Aluminum Box

  • In case of wood flooring, the high emissivity would be one of the most important properties especially as the cover material of underfloor heating system. The FIR (Far Infrared) materials such as wood emit FIR energy by heating, which has been used as the medical therapy such as dry sauna. This research investigated the emissivity and the emission power of wood composites by comparing the amount of the three heat transfer modes transferred by infrared radiation which came from the increased temperature of the bottom board of the plywood box by the heater. The results showed the value of radiation mode was the highest mode for the plywood box, and the convection mode was the main mode for the aluminum box. The rate of convection was 81.8% in the aluminum box and 48.2% in the plywood box, respectively. In case of the rate of radiation, the aluminum box showed only 15.4% and the plywood box showed 51%. The emissivity and the emission power of birch plywood showed the same values as those of wood. The amount of energy required for the temperature rising of water within vial in the aluminum box and in the plywood box were 3.32 kJ and 6.70 kJ respectively, which showed that the vial temperature of the plywood box was two times higher than that of the aluminum box.

시뮬레이션 분석을 통한 EPS실 화재위험성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Fire Risk Assessment of a EPS room using Fire Simulation)

  • 본 연구는 구획된 소공간유형의 EPS실에서 케이블 등의 가연성물질에 대한 화재특성을 시뮬레이션(FDS6)을 활용하여 진행하였다. 구획된 공간인 EPS실에서는 산소의 공급이 원활하지 않아 표준화재곡선에서와 같은 우상향의 연소곡선이 나타나지 않았다. 환기가 제한되는 상황에서 열방출율과 연기 방출량에 대한 시뮬레이션 결과는 상승과 하락을 반복하며 불안정한 형태의 복잡한 화재특성을 보였다. 화재시간은 화재하중에 비하여 길게 나타났다. 열방출율에 비하여 연기 방출량의 변화는 느리게 진행되었으나 전체적인 면에서 변화양상은 유사성을 보이는 것으로 확인되었다.

다단연소를 이용한 저 NOx 버너의 연소특성에 관한 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Combustion Characteristics in Low Emission Multi-Staged Oil Burner)

  • The characteristics of combustion and emissions in multi-staged oil burner have been experimentally studied for the various range of equivalence ratios, drop sizes and fuel formulations. Malvern system was used to measure droplet size of fuel. Light fuel oil and light fuel oil doped with pyridine($C_5H _5N$) were used to investigate the effects on fuel NOx emission. The emissions of NO and CO in exhaust gas and the flame temperatures were measured by the gas analyzer and thennocouples. NOx emissions were increased by increasing the excess air ratio (range:$lambda=1.1-1.4$) or decreasing the SMD of droplet in single-staged burner. In comparison with the single-staged burner, the emission of NOx in multi-staged burner was reduced by 50% but CO emission was slightly increased. It is found that multi-staged burner has a good capability in reducing thermal NOx resulting from the distributed heat release rate and lower flame temperature in fuel-rich and fuel-lean combustion zone. Moreover, the fuel NOx emission of the multi-staged burner is lower than that of single-staged burner, because multi-staged burner has fuel rich zone where fuel N is converted to $N_2$ more than NO. In 3-staged burner, the percentage of each stage combustion air have strong influence on emission characteristics. It is also found that NOx emission can be reduced by decreasing inner and outer air percentage or increasing middle air flow rate and CO emission is vice versa.

압축착화 디젤기관의 연소 및 배기가스에 대한 카롤라 바이오디젤 혼합 연료의 특성 (Characteristics of canola biodiesel fuel blended with diesel on the combustion and exhaust gas emissions in a compression ignition diesel engine)

  • 본 연구는 4실린더 커먼레일 디젤기관에서 식물성 바이오 연료인 카롤라유(Canola oil)와 디젤연료를 혼합하여 사용하였을 때 바이오디젤 혼합율과 엔진 회전수 변화에 따른 연소 및 배기 배출물 특성을 조사하기 위하여 실험을 수행하였다. 실험 결과에 의하면 엔진 회전수 1,000, 1,500, 2,000(rpm)에서 연소 압력은 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가할수록 감소하고, 2500rpm에서는 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가할수록 증가 하였으며, 열 발생율은 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가 할수록 모두 증가하였다. 연료 소비율은 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가할수록 엔진 회전수가 상승할수록 증가하였다. CO 배출물은 엔진 회전수가 상승할수록, 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가할수록 감소하였다. $CO_2$, NOx, 배출물은 엔진 회전수가 상승할수록 바이오디젤 혼합율이 증가할수록 증가하였다.

  • Gasoline engine manufacturers are currently considering designs that will result in low combustion air temperature for improvement of fuel consumption and emission levels. There are a variety of cooling systems that can be used to accomplish this goal. Coolong is therefore normally achieved through a balance of ram and fan action. This paper studies the various systems and compare the cooling performance for several conditions, based on a automotive engine. An experimental analysis was developed to predict the interaction of the fan system and the heat exchangers of the engine cooling system. The local temperature induced by the fan on the cooling system is measured. These experimental result were accomplished using air flow management techniques.
