  • Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the difference of pathogenesis between tinnitus patients group and healthy volunteers group by using DSOM (Diagnostic system of Oriental Medicine). Methods : Patients group is consisted of people who do not have any disorder except tinnitus, and healthy volunteers group is consisted of people who do not have any special symptom and past history. DSOM was used for pathogenesis investigation of these two groups. Results : There were significant differences between volunteers group and patients group in blood (血虛), dampness (濕), phlegm (痰) (p<0.05), In gender of patients group, deficiency of blood (血虛) was shown with female group statistically more than male group (p<0.05). On the other hand, with volunteers group, there was negligible difference between male and female. In age (over and below 50years), noticeable deficiency of blood (血虛) was shown in patients group. Especially, the old people who are over 50 years showed more deficiency of blood (血虛) than younger group (under 50 years) (p<0.05). With volunteers group, there was only negligible difference. Conclusion : This result showed definite difference in the pathogenesis between tinnitus patiensts group and healthy volunteers group.

  • Objectives: A healthy campus enables students to pursue their academic goals. This study examines the health in a broad spectrum of university students and suggests a systematic approach to building a healthy university campus. Methods: The Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (1998-2009) results and the American College Health Association-National College Health Assessment (2000-2011) report were used as bases for this study. Results: The most common health problems were allergies, sinusitis, ear infections, anemia, depression, and stress among both American students and Korean young people in the 19-29 age group. American students were more likely to be overweight, while Korean young people were to become underweight. College students were also less likely to practice healthy behavior(i.e. vaccinations, physical activity, and not smoking). To build a healthy university campus, six areas of health services are suggested: medical care, health education, counseling, immunization, heath promotion, and employee assistance programs (EAP). In addition, universities should develop effective strategies to improve health on campus, such as community partnerships. Conclusions: To make the most of the limited resources requires a systematic approach that focuses on continuous monitoring of health on campus, health surveys, and collaboration between universities and their communities.

  • This study examined whether the perceptions of the theory of planned behavior (TPB) and individual and environmental factors related to healthy eating changed after the COVID-19 pandemic among adults living in Daqing, China. Data were collected through two rounds of online surveys conducted from April to May 2021 and from March to April 2023, using a questionnaire previously validated for use in Daqing. Using the snowball sampling method, 571 adult participants were recruited, most of whom were Daqing oilfield workers or members of their families. Multiple linear regression analyses were used to determine if the differences in the perceptions of the TPB and dietary environments exist during and after the pandemic after controlling for potential confounders. Scores of several subcomponents of TPB and mean scores of longterm intentions increased but scores of subcomponents and overall mean of motivation decreased after the outbreak. Multiple linear regression showed that only motivation for healthy eating decreased after the pandemic. Influenced by the pandemic, people increased their healthy eating behaviors. Nevertheless, as the pandemic subsided and the pace of life accelerated, people tended to choose convenient foods over healthy options. Consequently, the motivation for healthy eating has declined post-pandemic compared to during the pandemic.

  • Stroke is a health problem experienced by many elderly people around the world. Stroke has a devastating effect on quality of life, causing death or disability. Hemiplegia is clearly an early sign of a stroke and can be detected through patterns of body balance and gait. The goal of this study was to determine various feature vectors of foot pressure and gait parameters of patients with stroke through the use of a wearable sensor and to compare the gait parameters with those of healthy elderly people. To monitor the participants at all times, we used a simple measuring device rather than a medical device. We measured gait data of 220 healthy people older than 65 years of age and of 63 elderly patients who had experienced stroke less than 6 months earlier. The center of pressure and the acceleration during standing and gait-related tasks were recorded by a wearable insole sensor worn by the participants. Both the average acceleration and the maximum acceleration were significantly higher in the healthy participants (p < .01) than in the patients with stroke. Thus gait parameters are helpful for determining whether they are patients with stroke or normal elderly people.

  • Objective: The purpose of this study is to find out whether people still have problems with breathing after being quarantined for a certain period after being infected with COVID-19. Design: Two-group pretest-posttest design. Methods: A total of 36 subjects were included in this study. Subjects who have been quarantined after being infected with COVID-19 (the after-quarantine group, n=18) and those who have never had COVID-19 (the healthy group, n=18). Respiratory function was evaluated by subjects in resting state and after treadmill exercise. Subjects performed treadmill exercise at moderate intensity for 20 minutes. To compare the differences in respiratory function between groups, forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in first second (FEV1), and maximum voluntary ventilation (MVV) were evaluated using a spirometer. Results: The result of the study, there was a significant difference in FVC in the after-quarantine group between resting and after treadmill exercise (p<0.05). In the healthy group, there was no significant difference in respiratory functions between resting and after treadmill exercise. Conclusions: The meaning of this result is that people who have been quarantined with COVID-19 have lower respiratory function than healthy people who are not infected with COVID-19.

  • Employers are realizing that workplaces have an immense impact on productivity. And, because people typically represent about 90% of a company's costs, even a slight improvement in productivity hits the bottom-line in a very big way. The focus is shifting away from saving money by reducing space needs or cutting energy requirements, and moving toward making the workplace friendlier and healthier. What is a healthy workplace, exactly? The answer should be clear by now. Mountains of research have expounded on this very topic, and then news outlets cover the latest discoveres ad infinitum. The problem is, research is rather dense, while the news isn't comprehensive. Office managers trying to improve workplace wellness want neither a 55-page report nor a half dozen articles to convince their landlord that their space can do better. Recognizing this gap, Harvard researchers have released a concise-yet-complete list of healthy building features. Here, we're sharing these nine features with a few insights of our own on the value of being healthy and productive. Find out: ${\bullet}$ What makes a healthy building and why is it so important ${\bullet}$ How to improve the health of your own office ${\bullet}$ What happens for your people and your bottom line when you make health a priority.

  • As China has the largest number of elderly people in the world, the issue of the aged people has been a serious matter of concern in Chinese government and society and many studies have been done so far. However, the studies about the dwellings of the aged people that support their basic life are still insufficient. For this reason this study intends to identify the differences in elderly people's preferences according to their situations in aged life. This study surveyed 152 elderly residents aged 50 and over including early aged people in Beijing China about their residential preferences (types of residence, location of residence, size of residence, types of ownership) according to the four types of their situations in aged life, healthy couple, sick couple, healthy single and sick single. The survey conducted from 2013 April 10th to 15th. The results were as follows: Firstly, as the elderly situation became worse, preference for the independent residence decreased very rapidly while the preference for the elderly welfare facilities dramatically increased from the 0 point of the healthy couple and the preference for the elderly welfare facilities marked the highest point in case of the worst situation of sick single. Secondly, among the four different situations preferences for the urban residence were the highest and as the aged people's situation becomes worse, their preferences for urban life increased. Thirdly, healthy couple preferred a large size residence but as their elderly situation becomes worse, their preferences for the large size decreased and their preferences for small size increased dramatically, and in case of elderly singles, preferences for small size residence exceeded their preferences for large size residence. Fourthly, as elderly situation became worse preference for owning residence decreased and preference for rental residence increased and in case of the worst situation of sick single, preference for rental residence was higher than their preferences for their own residence. With this view of point, the residential preference of elderly people changes along with their aging situations. Thus, the government should consider the variable aging market, and develop a variety of aging residence which, can satisfy the different groups of elderly.
