  • Major approaches of Social epidemiology; 1)holistic, ecological approach, 2)population based approach, 3)development and life-course approach, 4)contextual multi-level approach, have stressed the importance of not only social context of health and illness, but also the population based strategy in the health interventions. Ultimately, it provides the conceptual guidelines and methodological tools to lead toward the healthy public policies; integrated efforts to improve condition which people live: secure, safe, adequate, and sustainable livelihoods, lifestyles, and environments, including housing, education, nutrition, information exchange, child care, transportation, and necessary community and personal social and health services.

  • Carvedilol is a nonselective $\beta$-adrenoblocking agent with vasodilating activities. The pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of carvedilol were studied in healthy volunteers following single oral administration. After oral administration of carvedilol 25mg. blood samples were collected for a period of 30 hours. Plasma concentrations of carvedilol were determined by HPLC with spectrofluorometric detection. The effects of carvedilol on systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP) and heart rate (HR) were measured during the same period. (omitted)

  • The current study was performed to observe the effect of Sun Ginseng (SG) on hemodynamics such as blood flow rate (BF), blood flow velocity (BV), heart rate (HR), systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP), and body temperature (BT) in healthy young men. This is a randomized, single-blind study observed during 6 hrs after orally single administration of SG. (omitted)

  • The purpose of this study is to measure energy consumption according to physical activity. The subjects were healthy Korean women who are from 30s to 50s. Estimated by anthropometric measurements, blood pressure, and clinic tests, their health status was good. There were no significant difference in energy consumption according to physical activity. Only the women in their 4os had more responsibilities in the house work than the women in 30s and 50s. The daily energy consumption tends to decrease with age. So it is important to consider physical activities when we establish daily energy reguirements.

  • Modern society tends to bring excessive labor to people and, therefore, further health management is required. In this paper, by using the clustering technique, one of machine learning methods, we try to bring out the measure of fatigue from heart rate (HR) variation during daytime work, helping people to get high-quality of healthy and calm life.

  • Since its declaration in the year 1986, the Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion1 continues to guide the global practice of health promotion. This situation is also true in Japan, and recently the notion of health promotion is substantiated to yield two of the national health promotion and disease prevention agendas, Kenkou Nippon 21(KN21; Healthy Japan 2010)2 in the year 1999 and Sukoyaka Oyako 21 (SO21; Healthy Parents and Children 2010)3 in the year 2000. The apparent characteristics of these two agendas are their multiplicity of numerical objectives.(omitted)

  • Root barks of Paeonia suffruticosa Andrews (PS) was reported as contraindicated drugs of pregnancy by many Korean medical classics. Recently, a major ingredient component of PS, paeonol was reported that has contraceptive effect on early pregnancy in rats. However, the accurate molecular mechanism is not clear. In this study, we showed that PS decreased the expression of receptor for leukemia inhibitory factor (LIFR) in human endometrial Ishikawa cells at non-toxic dose, although the expression of leukemia inhibitory factor (LIF) was increased by PS. In addition, PS inhibited the adhesion of human trophoblastic JAR cells onto Ishikawa cells. Given importance of LIF-LIFR signaling pathway in the process of embryo implantation, the decreased LIFR expression by PS will be a good explanation on the PS- or its ingredient compounds-induced contraception.

  • The aim of this study was to identify stress, motivation for a the healthy lifestyle and IADL of the elderly with arthritis. This study examined 117 elderly person over the age of 65 years living in S city. The data were analyzed using an independent t-test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS Win 12.0 Program. Significant negative correlations were observed between stress and IADL, significant positive correlations between motivation on healthy lifestyle and IADL. The predictors on IADL were the physical area of stress (${\beta}=-0.354$, p<.001) and self-efficacy of motivation on healthy lifestyle (${\beta}=0.250$, p<.001). The model explained 18.5% of the variance. More study will be needed to explore a range of factors influencing the IADL and develop education programs for effective healthy lifestyle of elderly people with arthritis.
