We report a 10-year-old boy with supratentorial cortical ependymoma that rapidly grew in the course of 3 years. He suffered generalized seizures when he was 5 years old; MRI showed a small cortical lesion in the right postcentral gyrus. MRI performed 2 years later revealed no changes. For the next 3 years he was free of seizures. However, at the age of 10 he again suffered generalized seizures and MRI disclosed a large parietal tumor. It was resected totally and he remains free of neurological deficits. The histopathological diagnosis was ependymoma. Pediatric supratentorial cortical ependymomas are extremely rare. We recommend including cortical ependymoma as a differential diagnosis in pediatric patients with cortical mass lesions presenting with seizures and careful follow-up even in the absence of symptoms because these tumors may progress.

In this study, we examined the effect of acacetin on the apoptosis induction of HeLa human cervical cancer cells. The results showed that acacetin inhibited the cell viability and induced apoptosis, leading to PARP cleavage and activation of caspase-9, -3, and -7. Moreover, acacetin-induced apoptosis was attenuated by a broad caspase inhibitor, z-VAD-fmk. Also, acacetin resulted in a loss of mitochondria membrane potential. Taken together, our results demonstrate that the induction of apoptosis by acacetin in HeLa cells is associated with caspase activation via the mitochondria pathway.

국내 및 해외에서 생산 되는 윤활유에 Cloud-point curves 및 상용성 개념을 도입하여 이러한 데이터를 측정할수 있는 장치를 기존의 Light scatering, Neutron scatering, Visible Method등이 아닌 He-Ne Laser를 이용하여 측정하는 장치이다. He-Ne Laser을 이용하여 공중합체 용액의 Cloud-point curves를 측정하였고, 측정 Cloud-point curves 데\ulcorner를 연속열역학적 상평형관계식에 적용 coex istence curves를 추산하였으며 추산치와 측정치를 비교 검토하였다. 멀지 않은 해에는 이러한 분석장치가 상용화되어 윤활유 제품의 상용성을 평가하는 장치가 될 것으로 사료된다. 따라서, 기존 윤활유 제품 및 신제품의 상용성(compatibility)을 He-Ne Laser을 이용하여 측정하고 다른 일면으로는 윤활유 제품의 고품질화 및 제품의 경쟁력을 강화하는데 커다란 영향을 미치리라 사료된다.

The optimal mixing condition of four components gas(Ne,Xe,He,Ar) in PDPs was caculated by a numerical simulation method. The dominated reactions in which $Xe^*(^3P_1)$ is produced and decays were investigated in three components gas (Ne,Xe,He) and our new components gas (Ne,Xe,He,Ar). A peak point of $Xe^*$ density appears in the range of 0.1% to 2% of Ar mixture ratio. The results of simulation show that the direct exitation of Xe by electrons has the greatest influence on the inceasing $Xe^*$ density in both gas mixtures.

A simple digital control system has been developed for the frequency stabilization of an internal mirror He-Ne laser. The system is based on one chip microprocessor with embedded Basic interpreter. To stabilize the laser output frequency, the signal such as power difference or beat frequency between two modes is supplied and processed by a microprocessor, and control signal is fed to the heating coil would round the laser tube for adjusting the spacing of the laser cavity mirror. Newly developed frequency stabilization system is totally digitized. The system and the frequency stability performance are briefly described.

This study aimes to understand the principles in Theo Van Doesburg's architectural concept. Generally, Theo Van Doesburg has been thought that he betrayed De Stijl by acting contrary to the Neo-Plasticism which was constituted in early De Stijl by Mondrian and himself and by suggesting opposite one, Elementarism. Therefore this study tried to understand the principles that make his architectural concept, confirming the background of Elementarism. After studing relation, which Theo Van Doesburg has used, between space and color, it is concluded that he has unchanged principles of architectural concept from early De Stijl to last, opposite to general appreciation. So, Theo Van Doesburg acted to maintain equilibrium that exists for balancing the two elemental forces which contrast each other in relation between space and color. The equilibrium which he looked for aims to constitute harmonized dynamic space by dynamic rythem of equilibrium instead of Neo-Plastic effect. And using color, which used to be producing dynamic effect, he intended to maintain static effect for making dynamic rythem of equllibrium by the principles he made.

Han Dongseok advocated his own unique viewpoint about Universal Revolution based on Jeong-yeok(正易), and newly explained Exchange between Metal and Fire[金火交易]. Although he was not a researcher that had developed Jeong-yeok(正易), he has been judged as a utilitarian that tried to apply Change theory[易學] to realistic field called Oriental Medicine. The reason that such efforts are valuable is that he extended one of cosmological theory that is to say Jeong-yeok(正易) to the exchange of human body based on space-time progress. Theoretically he proved Jeong-yeok(正易) with the thought that heaven and human beings correspond to each other, realistically he showed turning point that as a main agent in Universal revolution we can change our own lives, in "The Principles of Universal Revolution", which is his most famous work.

King Heonjong was the twenty-fourth King of the Joseon Dynasty. He took the throne when he was only 8 years old, and had to go through power politics of maternal relations. During his period, situations worsened in both domestic and foreign affairs, meaning the beginning fall of the Joseon Dynasty. In respect to the diseases and treatments of King Heonjong, there appeared very few articles compared with the previous Kings, in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty, the Journal of Royal Secretariat, and the Diary of Kings of the Joseon Dynasty. He caught small pox and recovered in 10 days at the age of 17. Some articles showed that he suffered from symptom of indigestion, dyspepsia and edema. He died at 23 and had no descendants. We assume that the cause of death was due to worsening of kidney failure.

Okakura Kakuz$\bar{o}$ (1863-1913), the founder of the Japan Art Institute, is best known for his proclamation, "Asia is One." This phrase in his book, The Ideals of the East, and his connections to Bengali revolutionaries resulted in Okakura being remembered as one of Japan's foremost Pan-Asianists. He did not, however, write The Ideals of the East as political propaganda to justify Japanese aggression; he wrote it for Westerners as an exposition of Japan's aesthetic heritage. In fact, he devoted much of his life to the preservation and promotion of Japan's artistic heritage, giving lectures to both Japanese and Western audiences. This did not necessarily mean that he rejected Western philosophy and theories. A close examination of his views of both Eastern and Western art and history reveals that he was greatly influenced by Hegel's notion of dialectics and the evolutionary theories proposed by Darwin and Spencer. Okakura viewed cross-cultural encounters to be a catalyst for change and saw his own time as a critical point where Eastern and Western history was colliding, causing the evolution of both artistic cultures.

This report describes a case of spinal cord infarction after acupuncture. The patient was treated with lumbar sympathetic block with using C-arm fluoroscopy. A 66-year-old patient with chronic low back pain and radiating pain in the lower limb was treated with acupuncture and he suddenly had a loss of motor and sensory of both lower extremities. His clinical presentaion and neuroimaging studies were consistent with spinal cord infarction. He was treated with steroid megatherapy and he showed improved in motor function, but there was no pain relief despite the phamacological treatments that were combined with caudal blockade. He visited to our hospital and had lumbar sympathetic blockade performed. The pain was relieved without any related complication after 1 month (VAS $9/10{\rightarrow}2/10$), and he has been content with the results of treatment.
