Mycoleptodonoides aitchisonii has been used a culinary material and traditional medicine for a long time in worldwide and recently the researches to find biological effects have been increased such as dopamine activation, preventive effect against phytopathogens, inhibitive effect against erythrocyte coagulation, anti-oxidative effect, anti-tumorigenic effect, etc. However it is hard to cultivate Mycoleptodonoides aitchisonii it is impossible to be mass-produced and in order to solve the problem in this study we found the appropriate cultivation period and the harvest point for it. For life cycle (from primordium formation to harvest) the morphology, weight, and quantity of polysaccharide of Mycoleptodonoides aitchisonii were measured using with 5 bodies per a day and it could be divided for 4 stages; primordium formation, growth, needle maturation, and aging. And then from the results the Zeide nonlinear growth curve could be gotten. At 13th day after cultivation there is the relation between the change of media weight and body weight and at 14th day after cultivation the rate of polysaccharide in the body was 11 %. However in the case of O2 insufficient supply the malformation of them was observed.
In order to obtain the basic informations on the reasonable fertilization and soil management systems for a high soybean yield, both soybean leaves and soils were collected from 24 soybean-cultivated fields in central area of Korea, and analyzed. For this study, soybean leaves and soil were sampled together in July of 1988(growing season), and soil alone in October of 1988 (harvesting season) and April of 1989(sowing season) at each sampling site. The results might be summarized as follows: 1. The soil pH ranged between 4.8 and 6.8. and the pH after harvest decreased to 5.4 which compared with the pH 5.7 of growing season. 2. Both the 1N KCl extractable Al and the 1N $NH_4OAc$ extractable Al in soils were inversely correlated with the soil pH. the former concentration was negligible above pH 5.8. 3. The soil total-N and Bray 1-P after harvest were lower than those of growing season. The Bray 1-P's of sample soils were very high irrespective of sampling time. 4. The exchangeable Ca and Mg in soils even after harvest varied little whereas the exchangeable K decreased with time. 5. The N content in soybean leaves was not correlated with soil total-N, but highly correlated with the K content in soybean leaves. The Mg content in soybean leaves was also highly correlated with Ca content in suybean leaves and exchangeable Mg in soils.
This study was conducted to investigate residue levels of chlorantraniliprole and ethaboxam in inner part and outer leaves of a head-type Korean cabbage. Further, reduction of residues was measured after water washing, blanching and heat-cooking of the outer leaves. For chlorantraniliprole, residues in inner part and outer leaves were <0.01 mg/kg and 0.0757 mg/kg, respectively, in case of three-time spraying 30 days before harvest and <0.01 mg/kg and 1.19 mg/kg, respectively, in case of four-time spraying 10 days before harvest; for ethaboxam, <0.05 mg/kg and 0.216 mg/kg, respectively and <0.05 mg/kg and 1.18 mg/kg, respectively. Chlorantraniliprole and ethaboxam were not detected in inner part of the head-type Korean cabbage. Residue levels in outer leaves were very high as 10-100 fold as those in inner part of the cabbage. Therefore, there is no concern for safety of pesticide residues on kimchi prepared with the inner part of a head-type Korean cabbage. In addition, it needs to be noted that outer leaves should be carefully removed at harvest of the cabbage. Outer leaves water washed and blanched are called as Woogeogi, which is consumed after heat-cooking. In Woogeogi, residue concentrations of two compounds reduced to less than 10%, and further less than 5% by heat-cooking. This indicates that considerable amount of the test pesticide residues in outer leaves of a head-type Korean cabbage removed through water washing, blanching and heat-cooking.
This study was carried out to improve the fruit color through ABA treatment and to determine the optimum harvest time for producing high quality fruits in 'Hongisul' grapes. Spraying of $1000 mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ exogenous ABA at early verasion (70 days after full bloom, DAFB) brought increase of endogenous ABA and soluble solid contents and enhanced fruit coloration. So, it was possible to harvest ABA treated fruits from 85 days after full bloom (15 days after treatment) by accelerated anthocyanin content which increased continuously until 110 DAFB. An increase of soluble solid and decrease of total acidity appeared steadily with the onset of berry ripening. After 100 DAFB, soluble solid content and total acidity did not change significantly, but the berry firmness was suddenly decreased. Consequently, it was suggested that ABA treated fruits need to be harvested at about 100 DAFB because of their short period of marketing by over ripening. On the contrary, harvesting of untreated fruit was totally impossible at 85 DAFB because of their poor berry coloration. But it was possible to harvest them at 100 DAFB based on the soluble solid/acidity ratio, whereas the berry coloration was progressed poorly. On the other hand, the fruits harvested at 110 DAFB showed acceptable berry coloration but their berry firmness was dropped significantly coincide with overripening. Therefore, it was needed to develop an altered production system for improving coloration at around 100 DAFB in 'Hongisul' grapes.

Silage yield Potential and some agronomic characteristics of Korean improved and introduced corn hybrids from the United States were tested for five year in Gyeongsan, Gyeongsangbug-do and for one year in Hongcheon, Gangwon-do. 1. At 20 days after emergence, plant height and dry matter of hybrids were different, while the early growth of the hybrids was not correlated to the culm length and silage yield. 2. In Cyeongsan, silage yield potential of Suwon19 was relatively high, while most susceptible to rice black-streaked dwarf virus (RBSDV) disease and leaf senescence at harvest time. In contrast, silage yield potential and resistance to RBSDV of Cwanganok were moderate, while susceptible to leaf senescence at harvest. Generally, Suwon19 showed similar or higher yield than most introduced hybrids, while some introduced hybrids showed lower silage yield than Korean improved hybrids. Most introduced hybrids were more resistant to RBSDV and leaf senescence at harvest time compared to Korean improved hybrids. 3. In Hongcheon, silage yield of three Korean improved hybrids were lower than that of NC+5514 and DK729, while similar or higher than other introduced hybrids. af senescence of all Korean hybrids was severer compared to introduced hybrids.

'Gondalbi' (Ligularia stenocephala (Maxim.) Matsum. & Koidz.) is the most cultivated Gomchwi species because of higher yield and low in aromatic flavor and bitter taste, But 'Gondalbi' is susceptible to powdery mildew disease and leaf shriveling after harvest in Summer. To improve powdery mildew disease resistance and post-harvest leaf shriveling problem in 'Gondalbi', 'Handeari-gomchwi' resistant to powdery mildew disease and having higher yield potential used as a paternal trait donor. Powdery mildew disease resistance and post-harvest leaf shriveling as well as agronomic performance of a new variety, 'Greenbear' were tested under field and green house conditions in Pyungchang, Korea from 2007 to 2016. Expression of both maternal and paternal characteristics in 'Greenbear' including purple colored petiole ears, glossy leaf and paternal, petiole trichome, absent at the back of a leaf were confirmed. Plant size and flowering time of 'Greenbear' were similar to check line, 'Gommany', while leaf number per plant and yield were higher in 'Greenbear'. 'Greenbear' has thinner leaves (0.66mm) compared to 'Gommany (0.69 mm)', and hardness appeared slightly higher in 'Greenbear(25.1 kg/cm2)'. The resistance to powdery mildew disease of the 'Greenbear' variety was slightly lower than that of the 'Gommany' variety, but somewhat showed high resistance.
This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of planting times on the growth and yield of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) in non-heated greenhouse in Jeju Island ($33^{\circ}28.110N,\;126^{\circ}31.076E$), Korea. Five transplanting dates (from Feb. 25 to Apr. 30) of the first half of the year and six transplanting dates (from July 30 to Dec. 15) of the second half of the year were compared. In the spring cycle, most of the flower buds emerged from May to June, and the emergence was slightly earlier in 'Imperial Star' than in 'Green Globe'. The earliest harvest on June 16 was 'Imperial Star' which was planted on Feb. 25. The highest yield of 856 kg/10a was observed in 'Imperial Star' which was planted on Feb. 25. Transplanting of the first half of the year, it was impossible to harvest in the same year when the planting was done after April 15 since the flower buds were not emerged. The flower buds emerged from late Feb. to middle April of the following year in the all planting times of the second half of the year. It was possible to harvest the first time in early April. The highest yield was 2,127 kg/10a in 'Green Globe' which was planted on July 30, and the yields decreased as the planting times were delayed. In the comparisons of planting times of artichoke, it would be recommendable to plant artichoke on Feb. 25 for the same year harvest and in July 30~Oct. 15 for the following year harvest in Jeju Island non-heated greenhouse cultivation.
Atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) was applied to examine microbial safety and qualities of commercial Sunsik. APP was generated in a square-shaped plastic container (250 W, 15 kHz, ambient air) and dielectric barrier discharge plasma treatment was applied for periods of 0, 5, 10, and 20 minutes. The total aerobic bacterial count in the control was 4.44 log CFU/g. Under plasma treatment for 20 minutes, Sunsik samples inoculated with Bacillus cereus, B. subtilis, and Escherichia coli O157:H7 resulted in a reduction of bacterial counts by approximately 2.20, 2.22, and 2.52 log CFU/g, respectively. The pH of the sample was found to decrease after APP treatment. Although hunter color $L^*$ of Sunsik increased, $a^*$ and $b^*$ value decreased as a result of APP. Increasing the APP time also enhanced the peroxide value. Further, sensory evaluation revealed that APP decreased color, flavor, taste and overall acceptability. The results of this study indicated that APP treatment improved the microbial quality of Sunsik, although further studies should be conducted to reduce the deterioration of sensory quality induced by APP.
The characteristics and spore production of Gonji7ho, Bunhong, and Sunjung fruiting bodies were assessed at different growth stages. The shape of the Pleurotus species fruiting body starts out short and small, then takes on a typical mushroom shape as it grows. Gonji7ho has a long stalk, Bunhong has a short stalk and a wide cap, and Sunjung's cap and stalk dimensions are intermediate. Each variety displayed deep color at the beginning of growth but became steadily lighter with continued growth. The shape of the linkage between the mushroom stalk and cap changed from an initial central position to a lateral position after the growing stage. Gonji7ho cap diameter increased 7-fold from 15.5 mm (5 days of growth) to 37.9 mm (9 days of growth). Growth rates for each growth day measured using the growth percentage of the previous day were 285.5% (5 → 6th day), 182.2% (6 → 7th day), 129.4% (7 → 8th day), and 103.8% (8 → 9th day). This trend was also observed in Bunhong and Sunjung, but Bunhong's growth rate was more rapid (4.9 fold on day 6, 2.7 fold on day 7) and continued to increase through day 9. Harvest yield, which is of greatest interest to farmers, displayed a similar trend spanning the growth period, as did cap diameter. Gonji7ho harvest yield increased rapidly until day 7 of growth (more than 177%), then growth slowed down beginning around day 8, and further decreased on day 9 (98%). Similar trends were observed in Bunhong and Sunjung. Bunhong showed characteristic rapid growth in harvest yield (4.9 fold compared to the previous day on day 6 and 2.7 fold on day 7), and the increase continued through day 9. A decrease in mushroom harvest yield commonly seen in the late growth stage is thought to be due to the death of some mushrooms and decomposition of cap tissue. Basidiospore content increased with number of growth days but decreased after day 8. Gonji7ho yielded the highest production on day 7 of growth, coinciding with harvest time, with 209,000,000 spores. This trend was also observed in Bunhong and Sunjung. These results will provide researchers with basal data and guide farmers in selecting the optimal harvest day.

The purpose of this study is to understand meteorological and climatological factors that have influence on the garlic product in Seosan and Taean, and to analyze the economic value according to the use of climatical information data for garlic farmers. The climatological characteristics and trends in this area are analyzed using the meteorological data at the Seosan local meteorological agency from 1984 to 2013, the national statistical data for the product of garlic from 1989 to 2013, and the scenario data for climate change (RCP 4.5 and 8.5) for the period from 2001 to 2100. The results are as follows. First, the condition of lower temperature for garlic growth in winter season is satisfied with the mean air temperature. The wind speed are lower and stronger in Seosan and Taean than other garlic area. The suitable condition for the growth of northern type of garlic shows the decreasing trend in the accumulated precipitation in May. However, the area of growing the northern type garlic in the future is likely diminished because mean air temperature, accumulated precipitation, and mean wind speed are strong in the harvest time of garlic. Second, the seedtime of the northern and southern type of garlic using climate change scenarios (RCP 4.5, 8.5) in Seosan and Taean is getting late as time passes. and the harvest time gets faster, which indicates s that the period of garlic cultivation becomes shorter from 50 days to around 90 in the next 100 years. Third, the beginning days of white rot and delia platura of garlic are estimated by applying to the meteorological algorithm using mean air temperature and soil humidity. Especially, the beginning day of white rot garlic is shown to be faster according to the scenarios of RCP 4.5 and RCP 8.5. Fourth, the product of garlic (kg/10a) shows a high correlation with the minimum air temperature of a wintering time, the mean wind speed of a wintering time, the accumulated precipitation of a corpulent time, and the mean relative humidity of corpulent time of garlic. On the other hand, the analysis of garlic product when using the meteorological information data in cultivating garlic in Seosan and Taean reveals that the economic value increases up to 9% in total.
