The harmonic frequency occurred in a power system causes errors and failures of equipments such as motors, and an unnecessary power consumption. The fundamental countermeasure for the harmonic frequency is to eliminate the cause of the harmonic frequency. This paper describes about making the device to figure out the cause in real time, verifying the operation of the device, and utilizing it to various power quality measurements. The power usually has the line frequency between 45Hz and 66Hz. In this research, the number of the harmonic frequencies which can be analysed inside the 2.8kHz bandwidth, the filter bandwidth of ADE7880, is 2800/f, and the maximum is 2800/45 = 63. The maximum order of the harmonic frequency in Korea, which has the line frequency of 60Hz, was measured as 2800/60 = 46th. Also, the accuracy of the voltage, current, and power measurement had the error within 0.1%, confirming that it is very precise.

I presented three vector crustal magnetic anomaly components and six gradients by using spherical Slepian functions over the cap area of $20^{\circ}$ of radius centered on the South Pole. The Swarm mission, launched by European Space Agency(ESA) in November of 2013, was planned to put three satellites into the low-Earth orbits, two in parallel in East-West direction and one in cross-over of the higher altitude. This orbit configuration will make the gradient measurements possible in North-South direction, vertical direction, as well as E-W direction. The gravity satellites, such as GRACE and GOCE, have already implemented their gradient measurements for recovering the accurate gravity of the Earth and its temporal variation due to mass changes on the subsurface. However, the magnetic gradients have little been applied since Swarm launched. A localized magnetic modeling method is useful in taking an account for a region where data availability was limited or of interest was special. In particular, computation to get the localized solutions is much more efficient and it has an advantage of presenting high frequency anomaly features with numbers of solutions fewer than the global ones. Besides, these localized basis functions that were done by a linear transformation of the spherical harmonic functions, are orthogonal so that they can be used for power spectrum analysis by transforming the global spherical harmonic coefficients. I anticipate in scientific and technical progress in the localized modeling with the gradient measurements from Swarm and here will do discussion on the results of the localized solution to represent the three vector and six gradient anomalies over the Antarctic area from the synthetic data derived from a global solution of the spherical harmonics for the crustal magnetic anomalies of Swarm measurements.

In this paper, a nonlinear relationship between an input complex envelope and an output complex envelope of m-th harmonic zone is theoretically analyzed, and AM/$AM_m$ and AM/$PM_m$ are defined. A scheme to extract these characteristics from measured in-phase and quadrature-phase data is suggested. The proposed analysis is verified with a fundamental-fundamental and fundamental-third harmonic measurements for a InGaP power amplifier(PA). Based on the harmonic-band nonlinear analysis and extraction scheme, a new technique to send a signal in m-th harmonic band with a harmonic signal Linearization Digital Predistortion(DPD) scheme is presented. A numerical analysis and a Look-Up Table(LUT) based DPD algorithms to linearize output signal on m-th harmonic zone are developed. For a 16- and a 64-QAM input signals, a DPD for third harmonic signal linearization is implemented, and output spectrum and signal constellation are measured. The wholly distorted signals are linearized, and thus the measured Error Vector Magnitudes (EVM) are 6.4 % and 6.5 % respectively. The results show that a proposed scheme linearizes a nonlinearly distorted harmonic band signals. The proposed nonlinear analysis and predistortion scheme can be applied to multiband transmitter in next generation software defined radio(SDR)/cognitive radio(CR) wireless system.

With the proliferation of nonlinear loads, high neutral harmonic currents in three-phase four-wire distribution system have been observed It has been also known that the ground impedance has an effect on the neutral currents of a system which operates with harmonics present. On-site measurements of harmonic currents and voltages, and the soil resistivity and ground resistance under case study system were made and the corresponding equivalent circuit for the harmonics analysis was developed This equivalent circuit model was simulated numerically and graphically through the use of MATLAB and CDEGS software packages, and adequate results were obtained.

Most of the industrial loads includes the non-linear load as well as the linear load because there are many kinds of power conversion equipments at the input stage of the load in distribution network. The non-linear load causes the distortion of voltage waveform at PCC because the non-linear load generates the harmonic current. As a result, various voltage harmonics are existed at PCC depending on the current harmonics from the non-linear load. And, a series reactor is generally connected to the power capacitor in series to attenuate the distortion of voltage waveform and to reduce an inrush current of power capacitor. Also, harmonic current of power capacitor is highly dependent on the series reactor because it is operated with the power capacitor as a passive filter against nonlinear loads. Then, these capacitors might be damaged by the excessive voltage and current harmonic components. In this paper, we presented how to select the capacitor and series reactor to meet the requirement of the voltage distortion at PCC and analyzed the voltage, current and capacity rating of the power capacitor by the computer simulation to ensure the safe operation of power capacitor when the voltage harmonics at PCC are existed. Also, the analysis data were compared with the experimental measurements for the verification.
In recent years, several LCL filter design methods for different converter topologies have been published, many of which use analytical expressions to calculate the ideal converter AC voltage harmonic spectrum. This paper presents the LCL filter design methodology but the focus is on presentation and validation of the non-iterative filter design method for a grid-connected three-phase two-level PWM-VSC. The developed method can be adapted for different converter topologies and PWM algorithms. Furthermore, as a starting point for the design procedure, only the range of PWM carrier frequencies is required instead of an exact value. System nonlinearities, usually omitted from analysis have a significant influence on VSC AC voltage harmonic spectrum. In order to achieve better accuracy of the proposed procedure, the system nonlinear model is incorporated into the method. Optimal filter parameters are determined using the novel cost function based on higher frequency losses of the filter. An example of LCL filter design for a 40 kVA grid-connected PWM-VSC has been presented. Obtained results have been used to construct the corresponding laboratory setup and measurements have been performed to verify the proposed method.

Large steel industries have nonlinear loads including electric arc furnaces and harmonic field measurements have shown that harmonic content of a waveform varies with time. Since the large loads are supplied from the power system grid, it must be recognized that not only will the system of utility be impacted, but neighboring customer system could be impacted as well. In this paper time-varying harmonics are evaluated by international harmonic standards IEEE Std. 519 and IEC 61000-3-6 using a cumulative probablistic approach.
(Yb/sub x/Y/sub 1-x/)Ca₄O(BO₃)₃ single crystals where x=0.3,8,15,20% were grown by Czochralski Method. The crystals grown under the optimum conditions were transparent and colorless with good crystal form. Using polarizing microscope, crystal defects such as parasite crystals and bubbles were detected depending on the composition of melts and pulling rates. The optimum growth parameters for high quality of single crystals were 15∼20 rpm of rotation rate and 2mm/h of pulling rate at the flow rate of 2 l/min of Nitrogen gas. The relationship between crystal axes and optical axes was investigated by optical crystallographic method, polarization technique and single crystal X-ray method. From the spectroscopic measurements, it was confirmed that there were strong absorption bands at 900 and 976.4 nm and strong emission band at 976.4 nm in Yb/sup 3+/ ion doped YCa₄O(BO₃)₃ crystal. For the application of second harmonic generation of 1.064 ㎛ laser, non-linear optical devices with θ=32.32° and Ψ=0°, λ/10 of flatness and the size of 6x8x5.73 mm were fabricated from the grown YCa₄O(BO₃)₃ crystal.

This paper analyses the harmonic pollution to power grids caused by thyristor-controlled devices. It also formulates a mathematic derivation for the voltage spikes in thyristor-controlled branches to explain the harmonic and EMI derived from the reverse-recovery characteristics of the thyristor. With an equivalent nonlinear time-varying voltage source, a detailed simulation model is established, and the periodic dynamic switching characteristic of the thyristor can be explicitly implied. The simulation results are consistent with the probed results from on-site measurements. An improved trigger system with gate-shorted circuit structure is proposed to reduce the voltage spikes that cause EMI. The experimental results indicate that a prototype with the improved trigger system can effectively suppress the voltage spikes.
