This paper proposes a method of voltage control for three-phase multilevel H-bridge inverters with selective harmonic elimination (SHE) PWM The full-bridge configuration of H-bridge inverter cells enables voltage control with a fixed PWM pattern by means of phase shifting between the legs, which greatly simplifies the control while maintaining the harmonic elimination characteristics. The series combination of the cells in multilevel configuration can be exploited to further improve the hormonic elimination characteristics with proper phase shifting between the ceil volitage. A complexor-based control method is introduced to control the magnitude and phase angle of cell voltages that form three-phase multilevel output voltages. Simulation results show that the proposed method along with SHE PWM would provide satisfactory performance in spite of its simplicity.
The active filter system for harmonic current compensation is presented in this paper. The active filter, composed of a three-phase voltage-type PWM inverter and the capacitor, compensates both the harmonic currents and the reactive power by injecting the PWM current to the ac line. This paper describes the principle of harmonic current compensation, the calculation circuits for the harmonic currents to be injected, the several compensation characteristics. Also the experimental results are shown to verify the theory proposed in this paper.
This paper presents the harmonics obstacle analysis and countermeasure of electrical consumption a place. Harmonics that can be cosidered as a environmental pollution of the power systems become the cause of the accidents and damages. The responsibility of eliminating the harmonics firstly lies on the generating side. But the original characteristics of the system sush as the harmonic transfer characteristics and the impedance of the system affect each other in the process of the generation and transmission of the harmonic. Therefore it is very difficult to specify clearly the harmonic controlling responsibility, because electric machinery generating harmonics are various in the industrial fields. The output of a inverter has a high harmonic content. There are several ways of minimizing the output harmonic content. One way is to use pulse width modulation techniques within inverter. An alternative method is to combine a number of square-wave inverters. In this research, we measure the harmonic of the countermeasure of electrical consumption a place. The paper present the problem of new harmonic elimination method of PWM inverter fed induction motor system using W-FT series. In the future, the proposed PWM pattern by W-FT series is effective not only to the induction motor but also to the electromagnetic machine such as voltage reglator, UPS.
The aim of this study is to design a passive filter for the elimination of harmonics. For this design, the harmonics wave generating from the six pulse rectifier was measured and its characteristics were analyzed. We also calculated the quantity of harmonic current by changing the system operational conditions. According to this field data and calculated results. we determined the elements of the passive filter. The simulation results indicate the efficiency of designed passive filter.

For efficient quantization of speech representation, it is common to incorporate Perceptual characteristics of human hearing. However, the focus has been confined only to the magnitude information of speech, and little attention has been paid to phase information. This paper presents a novel approach, termed perceptually irrelevant phase elimination (PIPE), to find out irrelevant phase information of acoustic signals in terms of perception. The proposed method, which is based on the observation that the relative phase relationship within a critical band is perceptually important, is derived not only for stationary Fourier signal but also for harmonic signal. The proposed method is incorporated into the analysis/synthesis system based on harmonic representation of speech, and subjective test results demonstrate the effectiveness of proposed method.

A new injection method is proposed for active power filters to eliminate AC harmonics in ac input current of nonlinear loads such as rectifiers. By injecting the PWM current determined by the proposed injection method, all the harmonics up to order nn can be eliminated to exactly zero. This PWM injection current can be generated by sampling total harmonic wave at the rate of M and the sampled values are converted into the proposed PWM wave with N pulse-width variables and adjustable current magnitude Im. These variables are deetermined by solving a set of N nonlinear harmonic equations and the harmonic-elimination characteristics of the new injection are investigated through digital computer sinmulation. Also by comparing between the simulated results and the ones synthesized by data stored in EPROM, the possibility of the suggested injection method can be shown.

Recently, multilevel H-bridge inverters have become popular in medium to high power ac drive applications. One of significant advantages of them is low harmonic contents in their input line currents thanks to the transformer with multiple phase-shifted secondary windings. This paper attempts to provide basic guidelines for the design of the phase shifting transformer windings and theoretical analysis of input line current harmonics of H-bridge inverters. The part II is devoted to the analysis of the harmonic characteristics of the input line current, providing mathematical background for the equidistant phase-shifting angle distribution policy for harmonic elimination.
An optimized space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) method with common mode voltage elimination and neutral point potential balancing is proposed for an open-end winding induction motor. The motor is fed from both of the ends with two neutral point clamped (NPC) three-level inverters. In order to eliminate the common mode voltage of the motor ends and balance the neutral point potential of the DC link, only zero common mode voltage vectors are used and a balancing control factor is gained from calculation in the strategy. In order to improve the harmonic characteristics of the output voltages and currents, the balancing control factor is regulated properly and the theoretical analysis is provided. Simulation and experimental results show that by adopting the proposed method, the common mode voltage can be completely eliminated, the neutral point potential can be accurately balanced and the harmonic performance for the output voltages and currents can be effectively improved.
This paper presents two advanced hybrid pulse-width modulation (PWM) strategies for multilevel inverters (MLIs) that provide both common-mode voltage (CMV) elimination and current ripple reduction. The first PWM utilizes sequences that apply one switching state at the double ends of a half-carrier cycle. The second PWM combines the advantages of the former and an existing four-state PWM. Analyses of the harmonic characteristics of the two groups of switching sequences based on a general switching voltage model are carried out, and algorithms to optimize the current ripple are proposed. These methods are simple and can be implemented online for general n-level inverters. Using a three-level NPC inverter and a five-level CHB inverter, good performances in terms of the root mean square current ripple are obtained with the proposed PWM schemes as indicated through improved harmonic distortion factors when compared to existing schemes in almost the entire region of the modulation index. This also leads to a significant reduction in the current total harmonic distortion. Simulation and experimental results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed PWM methods.
