  • The utility-interactive inverter with critical loads should supply continuous and stable voltage to critical loads even during the grid fault. The conventional control method which performs current control for grid-connected mode and voltage control for stand-alone mode undergoes the critical load voltage variation during grid fault. The critical load voltage may have large transient when the inverter performs mode transfer after the islanding detection. Recently, the indirect current control method which does not have the transient state during not only islanding detection but also the mode transfer has been proposed. However, since the voltage control is maintained even during the grid-connected mode it is difficult to detect the islanding. This paper proposes an active anti-islanding method suitable for the indirect current control method which does not have NDZ(Non-Detection Zone).

  • This research proposes a high-frequency circuit that can accurately predict the differential mode noise of single-phase inverters at the circuit design stage. Proposed single-phase inverter high frequency circuit in the work is a form in which harmonic impedance components are added to the basic single-phase inverter circuit configuration. For accurate noise prediction, parasitic components present in each part of the differential noise path were extracted. Impedance was extracted using a network analyzer and Q3D in the measurement range of 150 kHz to 30 MHz. A high-frequency circuit model was completed by applying the measured values. Simulations and experiments were conducted to confirm the validity of the high-frequency circuit. As a result, we were able to predict the resonance point of the differential mode voltage extracted as an experimental value with a high-frequency circuit model within an approximately 10% error. Through this outcome, we could verify that differential mode noise can be accurately predicted using the proposed model of the high-frequency circuit without a separate test bench for noise measurement.

  • This work investigates the subcritical free-shear prism wake at Re=22,000 by the Koopman analysis using the Dynamic Mode Decomposition (DMD) algorithm. The Koopman model linearized nonlinearities in the stochastic, homogeneous anisotropic turbulent wake, generating temporally orthogonal eigen tuples that carry meaningful, coherent structures. Phenomenological analysis of dominant modes revealed their physical interpretations: Mode 1 renders the mean-field dynamics, Modes 2 describes the roll-up of the Strouhal vortex, Mode 3 describes the Bloor-Gerrard vortex resulting from the Kelvin-Helmholtz instability inside shear layers, its superposition onto the Strouhal vortex, and the concurrent flow entrainment, Modes 6 and 10 describe the low-frequency shedding of turbulent separation bubbles (TSBs) and turbulence production, respectively, which contribute to the beating phenomenon in the lift time history and the flapping motion of shear layers, Modes 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9 are the relatively trivial harmonic excitations. This work demonstrates the Koopman analysis' ability to provide insights into free-shear flows. Its success in subcritical turbulence also serves as an excellent reference for applications in other nonlinear, stochastic systems.

  • In this paper, a novel utility connected photovoltaic power generation system with unity power factor and uninterruptable power system facility and its control strategy are proposed. The proposed photovoltaic(PV) system is connected in parallel between utility and load. The PV system provides an uninterruptable voltage to load, a maximum power tracking to solar array, and power factor correction to the utility. The proposed system has the following advantages compared with the conventional utility connected PV system. 1. Harmonic elimination Function 2. Feeding the photovoltaic energy to the utility 3. Providing the uninterruptible power source along battery to the load In case that the photovoltaic array system is on the poor power generation, the battery and capacitor of the PV system are charged by three phase utility source and the inverter in the PV system only provides the reactive current to eliminate the harmonic current exited on the utility. In the normal operation mode, the PV system supplies active power to load and reactive power to utility in order to maintain the unity power factor and to regulate ac load voltage.

  • The cantilever beam with nonlinearity has many dynamic characteristics of nonlinear vibration. Nonlinear terms of a flexible cantilever beam include inertia, spring, damping, and warping. When the beam is given basic harmonic excitation, it shows planar and nonplanar vibrations due to one-to-one resonance. And when the one-to-one resonance occurs, the flexible beam shows different behaviors in those vibrations. For the one-to-one resonance occurring in each mode, the phase value of the planar vibration is different from that of the nonlinear vibration. This paper investigates the phase change and the phase difference between such planar and nonplanar vibrations which are caused by one-to-one resonance.

  • The turbulence in the nonlinear regime of the electromagnetic ion-cyclotron (EMIC) instability are investigated via a particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation. EMIC instability arises from anisotropic ion temperature and excites the Alfven ion-cyclotron (AIC) waves. The excited AIC waves undergo inverse-cascade via the nonlinear wave interaction of two AIC and one ion density modes. Induced ion density modes are the normal and second harmonic ion-acoustic (IA) waves. They have the same group velocity, but the second harmonic IA mode only generates the longitudinal electric field.

  • In this paper the partial switching PFC converter which is based on predictive control is proposed. In terms of satisfying the harmonic standard, the predictive control shows a similar performance to the conventional average current mode control PFC in the normal input condition. Moreover, the current harmonic characteristic is insensitive to the distorted input voltage. With predictive control method, novel on-line partial switching strategy is suggested in this paper. Depending on the operating condition, the partial switching PFC converter can boost its output voltage. Also when its efficiency needs to be improved, according to load condition, the partial switching can be achieved. The proposed strategy is proved by the results of FFT and the loss analysis using PSIM 9.0.

  • Temperature variation affect the response of asphalt pavement and should be considered in the evaluation of performance of the pavement. In this paper, HWAW method is applied to evaluate shear wave velocity(or shear modulus) of the asphalt pavement with temperature. HWAW method which is based on time-frequency analysis using harmonic wavelet transform have been developed to determine phase and group velocities of waves. This method minimize effect of noise and is not affected by mode jump effect which cause erroneous result when surface wave method is applied to pavement evaluation. In order to estimate the applicability of HWAW method, field tests were performed in 1 site and preliminary correlation between shear wave velocity(shear modulus) and asphalt pavement average temperature.

  • A modeling of machined geometry and cutting force was proposed for the case of round shape machining, and the effects of internally machined profile are analyzed and its realiability was verified by the experiments of roundness tester, especially in boring operation in lathe. Also, harmonic cutting force model was proposed with the parameter of specific cutting force, chip width and chip thickness, and in this study, we can see that bored workpiece profile was also mapped into cutting force signal with this model. In general, we can calculated the theoretical lobe profile with arbitrary multilobe. But in real experiments, the most frequently measured numbers are 3 and 5 lobe profile in experiments. With this results, we can predict that these results may be applied to round shape machining such as drilling, boring, ball screw and internal grinding operation with the same method.

  • Experimental and theoretical study of the non-planar response motions of a circular cantilever beam subject to base harmonic excitation has been presented in this paper work. Theoretical research is conducted using two non-linear coupled integral-differential equations of motion. These equations contain cubic linearities due do curvature term and inertial term. A combination of the Galerkin procedure and the method of multiple scales are used to construct a first-order uniform expansion for the case of one-to-one resonance. The results show that the non-linear geometric terms are very important for the low-frequency modes of the first and second mode. The non-linear inertia terms are also important for the high-frequency modes. We present the quantitative and qualitative results for non-planar motions of the dynamic behavior.
