  • This paper presents method of the assessment on the Influence of harmonic torque in diesel generating system by using EMTP(Electromagnetic Transient Program). The objectives is to analysis the influence on power oscillation and voltage fluctuation due to the periodically varying torque developed by the new diesel generator to be installed in existing power system.

  • Harmonic current originating from electric locomotives can be magnified due to the impedance characteristics of power supply circuit and bring about various problems. That is, electromagnetic interference with communication lines, operational trouble in signaling, overheat and/or vibration in power capacitor, mis-operation in protection relay and so on. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. For these reasons, this study propose a new approach to model and to analyse traction power feeding system focused on system response to current and voltage harmonic(PART I ). Measurements of harmonics are also performed for railway power supply systems under normal operation. Spectrum and distortion analyses in measurement data are variously described in PART II

온라인 고조파 해석 지수의 개발 (On-line Harmonic Distortion Index for Power Quality Assessment)

  • This paper introduces a new online index to quantify the harmonic distortion. The proposed index based on VI product can represent the harmonic distortion of both voltage and current, and it includes the effect of interharmonic distortion. Also, the new index is suitable to online harmonic distortion evaluation since it only requires the r.m.s. (root mean square) value and fundamental frequency value of the signals. Case studies are presented to show the availability of the proposed index using the comparison with the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion).

  • 규모가 큰 제철소는 전기로를 포함한 비선형 부하를 가지고 있다. 이들 비선형 부하는 고조파 전류를 발생 시키고, 전력 계통의 전압을 왜곡시킨다. 본 논문에서는 전기로 부하의 고조파 현장 측정, 고조파 저감을 위해 수용가 모선에 동조 필터 적용과 국제 고조파 관리 기준인 IEC 61000-3-6과 IEEE Std. 519에 의한 고조파 평가를 심도 있게 분석한다. 고조파 해석 프로그램인 EDSA는 사례연구에 시뮬레이션 도구로 사용되었다.

Feasibility of a Nonlinear Acoustic Method for the Assessment of Bone Status and Osteoporosis in Trabecular Bone

  • The present study aims to investigate the feasibility of using a simple nonlinear acoustic method for the assessment of bone status and osteoporosis in trabecular bone. Correlations of linear and nonlinear ultrasound parameters with the apparent bone density were obtained in 32 bovine femoral trabecular bone samples. Highly significant positive correlations were observed between the apparent bone density and the two linear ultrasound parameters, the speed of sound (SOS) and the normalized broadband ultrasound attenuation (nBUA), with Spearman's correlation coefficients of r = 0.85 and 0.77. In contrast, the apparent bone density was found to be negatively correlated with the nonlinear ultrasound parameter introduced in the present study, the logarithmic difference between the power spectrum levels of the fundamental frequency and the second harmonic (PSL1-PSL2), with the highest correlation coefficient of r = -0.92. These results suggest that the PSL1-PSL2, in addition to the SOS and the nBUA, may be useful for the assessment of bone status and osteoporosis.

  • This paper analyzes the characteristic of gird connected photovoltaic power generation system which is available to connect the utility. Renewable energy photovoltaic power system has been linked to the system to analyze the impact of photovoltaic system. It is measured that power data for the Grid connected photovoltaic power plant with instantaneous measuring and 3-sec measuring for 7 days. Harmonic field measurements have shown that the harmonic contents of a waveform varies with time. A cumulative probability approach is the most commonly used method to solve time varying harmonics. So, it is used 50[%] cumulative probability approach. This paper provides an in depth analysis on power quality field measurement of the Grid connected photovoltaic power plant.

  • The magnified current harmonics usually brings about various problems. That is, the current harmonics makes interference in the adjacent lines of communications and the railway signalling system. Furthermore, in case it flows on the side of power system, not only overheating and vibration at the power capacitors but also wrong operation at the protective devices can occur. Therefore, the exact assessment of the harmonic current flow must be undertaken at design and planning stage for the electric traction systems. From these point of view, this study presents the harmonic analysis and the modelling of traction power feeding system focused on the amplification of harmonic current.

Adaptive Reconstruction of Multi-periodic Harmonic Time Series with Only Negative Errors: Simulation Study

  • In satellite remote sensing, irregular temporal sampling is a common feature of geophysical and biological process on the earth's surface. Lee (2008) proposed a feed-back system using a harmonic model of single period to adaptively reconstruct observation image series contaminated by noises resulted from mechanical problems or environmental conditions. However, the simple sinusoidal model of single period may not be appropriate for temporal physical processes of land surface. A complex model of multiple periods would be more proper to represent inter-annual and inner-annual variations of surface parameters. This study extended to use a multi-periodic harmonic model, which is expressed as the sum of a series of sine waves, for the adaptive system. For the system assessment, simulation data were generated from a model of negative errors, based on the fact that the observation is mainly suppressed by bad weather. The experimental results of this simulation study show the potentiality of the proposed system for real-time monitoring on the image series observed by imperfect sensing technology from the environment which are frequently influenced by bad weather.
