  • A thermal management system of a proton exchange membrane fuel cell is taken charge of controlling the temperature of fuel cell stack by rejection of electrochemically reacted heat. Two major components of thermal management system are heat exchanger and pump which determines required amount of heat. Since the performance and durability of PEMFC system is sensitive to the operating temperature and temperature distribution inside the stack, it is necessary to control the thermal management system properly under guidance of operating strategy. The control study of the thermal management system is able to be boosted up with hardware in the loop simulation which directly connects the plant simulation with real hardware components. In this study, the plant simulation of fuel cell stack has been developed and the simulation model is connected with virtual data acquisition system. And HIL simulator has been developed to control the coolant supply system for the study of PEMFC thermal management system. The virtual data acquisition system and the HIL simulator are developed under LabVIEWTM Platform and the Simulation interface toolkit integrates the fuel cell plant simulator with the virtual DAQ display and HIL simulator.

  • HILS(Hardware-ln-the-Loop Simulation) is a scheme that incorporates hardware components of primary concern in the numerical simulation environment. Due to its advantages over actual vehicle test and pure simulation, HILS is being widely accepted in automotive industries as test benches for vehicle control units. Developed in this study is a HILS system for VDC(Vehicle Dynamics Control) with a valve control system that modulates the brake pressures at low wheels. Two VDC control logics were developed and tested in the HILS system. Test results under various driving conditions are presented in this paper.

  • Cosim (Hardware and Software Co-Simulator) is a JavaBeans-based simulation tool fur validating systems architecture and estimating performance of web applications. Cosim has four components: Modeler, Translator, Engine and Scenario. Users start from Modeler to describe systems architecture in UML(Unified Modeling Language) deployment diagram, and then specify hardware & software performance parameters such as execution delay, network topology, and frame size. All information specified on Modeler are sent to Translator, and then automatically converted to Java programs. Scenario is responsible to run the Java program and produce results in text reports and graphs. Developers can reduce development time and cost by validating systems architecture of web applications before the actual deployment.

  • An open architecture manufacturing strategy intends to integrate manufacturing components on a single platform so that a particular component can be easily added and/or replaced. Therefore, the control scheme based upon the open architecture concept is hardware-independent. In this paper, a modular and object oriented approach for a PC-based open robot control system is investigated. A standard reference model for robot systems, which consists of three modules; hardware module, operating system module, and application software module, is first proposed. Then, a PC-based Open Robot Controller(PC-ORC), which can reconfigure robot control systems in various production environments, is developed. The PC-ORC is built upon the object-oriented method, and allows an easy implementation and modification of various modules. The PC-ORC consists of basic softwares, application objects, and additional hardware device on the PC Platform. The application objects are: sequencer, computation unit, servo control, ancillary equipment, external sensor control, and so on. In order to demonstrate the applicability of the PC-ORC, the proposed PC-ORC configuration is applied to an industrial SCARA robot system.

  • This paper deal with basic concept of Hardware In the Loop System(HILS) for hydraulic excavator. Hydraulic excavator has many nonlinearities because of P-Q diagram, dead zone and saturation of valve, single acting cylinder, heavy manipulator. So, actual test is needed when new component or control algorithm is developed but many restrictions exist. Hydraulic circuit of excavator is too complex to model mathematically but dynamic equation of manipulator has made good progress in previous studies. Basic concept of HILS and AMESim model of hydraulic components is contained in this paper.

  • The prevalence of microprocessor-based controllers in automotive system has greatly increased the need for tools which can be used to validate and test control system over their full range of operation. The objective of this paper is to develop a real time simulator of an anti-lock braking system and traction control system by the methodology of using hardware-in-the-loop simulation based on a personal computer. By use of this simulator, the analyses of commercial electronic control units and components for ABS/TCS were performed successfully. The simulator of this research can be applied to development of more advanced control system(such as vehicle dynamic control system) and other automotive system.

필터 길이의 변화를 이용한 효율적인 구획 단위 웨이브릿 변환 (An efficient block wavelet transform using variable filter length)

  • Wavelet transform is widely used for high compression ratio image compression. It requeires a large memory when it is implemented by a hardware. Therefore, it is efficient to divide the entire image into blocks. Because the wavelet transform for divided blocks causes losses, pixels of the adjacent blocks are used. In the case of color image compression, the image is decomposed into brightness and color components, and then color components are downsampled. When the wavelet transform is performed by using pixels of adjacentblocks, the number of necessary pixels are doubled due to downsampling of color components. In this paper, we propose an efficient block wavelet transform using variablefilter length for brightness and color components. By using the proposed method, the number of pixels of adjacent blocks is optimized. We show the degradation of image quality due to the reduction of filter length for color components is negligible through simulations.

  • This paper proposes an expert system to generate automatically the test table of test system which can highly enhance the quality and productivity of product by inspecting quickly and accurately the defect device on the electronic circuit board tested. The expert system identifies accurately the tested components and the circuit patterns by tracing automatically the connectivity of circuit from electronic circuit database. And it generates automatically the test table to detect accurately the missing components, the misplaced components, and the wrong components for analog components such as resistance, coil, condenser, diode, and transistor, based on the experience knowledge of veteran expert. It is implemented in C computer language for the purpose of the implementation of the inference engine using the dynamic memory allocation technique, the interface with the electronic circuit database and the hardware direct control. And, the validity of the builded expert system is proved by simulating for a typical electronic board model.

  • This paper describes the optimal sizing of each component using computer simulation and presents the efficient operating scheme of series HEV using hardware simulator the equivalent system. As the sizing method of components have been experimental and empirical it is needed to spend much time and development cost. however the results of computer simulation will set the optimal sizing of components in short time. There are two type of driving control power-tracking mode and load-levelling mode in series HEV. This paper presents that series HEV be operated in the load-levelling mode which is more efficient that power-tracking mode.
