Kinetic typography is technology such as color, scale, position of the letter changes dynamically with time and it communicates information with aesthetics and originality. The purpose of this study is to identify the design factors in the formativeness of Hangul and present and implement the interaction design method of unique Hangul kinetic typography based on the scientific structure of Hangul. We implemented the Hangul kinetic typography system, which varies in sizes and motion directions according to a viewer's movement and exhibited in a media art event. To do this, we used a viewer's skeleton information on typography synchronization. The results indicated that Hangul kinetic typography has potential not only as a means to communicate with viewers but also as a medium to show the artistic value of Hangul.

In 1995, When people read a poem, the image that a poet intends to convey to readers shows in various colors according to the status of their emotion. Poetry is a bridge as well as a text, which connects this world and the poet's world. In such relationship, the communication through Types occurs. The realm of application of modern typography is widening due to the development of the Internet and mass media, and the ways of expression of which are changing with the help of lots of softwares. So, the modern typography is re-born as an organic language which is alive, breathing. Therefore, Types has the structural character similar to that of Typography, which is a language of image, creating today's movement, time, and space. The already existing poetry contains meanings but has a descriptive structures. On contrary, compared with the former, the type appeared in Hangul Concrete Poetry., itself is a poem in another realm due to the formality native to Hangul, and which appears in non-linear structure. So, in this thesis, I will analyze the formality and non-linear structure of Hangul Typography in order to widen the realm of research on typography, which is a very meaningful trial to visualize the literature.

In line with the development of Media, the use of character has been developed in various ways. Specially, it has been emerged the functions of written language of visualization and delivery of emotion in the digitalized environment due to speedy growth of internet and Mobile. The emoticons emerged as a tool for the convenience of communication proved to have taken effective role in the part of communication culture. Particularly, Hangul emoticons which contains the meaning of communication and sharing in tandem with the principle of Hangul invention, provides convenience in combination & use due to its structural and design characteristic for which it plays a significant role of visual element. Hangul emoticon is definitely a part of Hangul culture and in view of globalization of visual language in connection with media development, there is a huge potential being to be used as a international communication tool. In this study, it will be reviewed on the increased utilization of Hangul emoticons and related public issues as being a part of typography media, in view of the generalization of private media as well as change of subjective user.

Ever since media contents took over the world, the importance of typography has increased, and the influence of fonts has be n recognized. Nevertheless, the current Hangul font system is very poor and is provided passively, so it is practically impossible to understand and utilize all the shape characteristics of more than six thousand Hangul fonts. In this paper, the characteristics of Hangul font shapes were selected based on the Hangul structure of similar fonts. The stroke element detection training was performed by fine tuning Faster R-CNN Inception v2, one of the deep learning object detection models. We also propose a system that automatically extracts the stroke element characteristics from characters by introducing an automatic extraction algorithm. In comparison to the previous research which showed poor accuracy while using SVM(Support Vector Machine) and Sliding Window Algorithm, the proposed system in this paper has shown the result of 10 % accuracy to properly detect and extract stroke elements from various fonts. In conclusion, if the stroke element characteristics based on the Hangul structural information extracted through the system are used for similar classification, problems such as copyright will be solved in an era when typography's competitiveness becomes stronger, and an automated process will be provided to users for more convenience.

Hangul came to life as part of the East Asian culture of the Chinese ideograph. Korean letter-culture is starkly different from that of Western letter-culture. In the Orient, letters were sacred and incantory; they were objects of awe, which incorporated elements of the majestic, mysterious, and of ritual. Here we had cultural tradition that acknowledged the intrinsic value of the letters. And it was in this context that Hangul was born as a completely phonetic system of writing. However, the characteristics of Hangul are quite different from those of Chinese ideographs, which are designed to convey a certain meaning. Despite the fact that Hangul is phonetic, its roots lie most definitely in the image of Chinese ideographs. This is something that contrasts with the roots of the Latin alphabet, which have been lost in its long journey of evolution. As a phonetic writing system, a notable characteristic of Hangul is that it has this and the attributes of image. In other words, in that Hangul is a compound, it shares some of the same attributes as Chinese ideographs, but also in that it is a phonetic writing system it is dose to the Latin alphabet. Hangul is definitely a visual writing system that has its origins in the visual culture of Chinese characters as well as being functionally a highly developed phonetic writing system. In short, Hangul has both of these attributes in one writing system. These characteristics of Hangul, for us living in the era of the image, are parts that awaken us to the meaning of existence in our visual culture. Unique among the world's writing systems, the identity of Hangul typography will become none other than the essence of our visual culture.

Various researches on content sensibility with the development of digital contents are under way. Emotional research on fonts is also underway in various fields. There is a requirement to use the content expressions in the same way as the content, and to use the font emotion and the textual sensibility of the text in harmony. But it is impossible to select a proper font emotion in Korea because each of more than 6,000 fonts has a certain emotion. In this paper, we analysed emotional classification attributes and constructed the Hangul font recommendation system. Also we verified the credibility and validity of the attributes themselves in order to apply to Korea Hangul fonts. After then, we tested whether general users can find a proper font in a commercial font set through this emotional recommendation system. As a result, when users want to express their emotions in sentences more visually, they can get a recommendation of a Hangul font having a desired emotion by utilizing font-based emotion attribute values collected through the crowdsourced method.

Television market is rapidly changing into HDTV according to increase in the programs transmitted in HD. However, there is no guideline of Korean typography which is suitable for HD display. Here we provide a guideline on Korean font style, its size and transparency to acquire high readability on HD screen. The readability was assessed with two different criteria: reading speed as an objective index and preference ranking as a subjective index. In the results, the participants tend to prefer and read faster slim fonts on HD display when compared to the bold type commonly used on 3D display To the font size, smaller one was preferred on HDTV than that displayed on SDTV. To the transparency, users revealed strong preference on 40% transparency although it did not affect the reading speed when the contrast between text and background was fixed on 40%. But clearly, preference on 40% transparency.

This study is purposed to analyze the appearances and functions of ellipsis of case markers through the Hangul letters of Hyun-Poong Kwak's family in the early 17th century. Hangul letters appear more colloquial than typography, and ellipsis is the one of main features of it. Generally, 'ellipsis' occurs when a constituent of a sentence deliberately leaves out of a sentence, because it is repeated or can be deduced by the context or occasion. As Hangul letter is written for a specific person, 'ellipsis' occurs more often than typography written for unspecified individuals. The ellipsis of case markers are not an exception. The ellipsis has functions as follow. The first, function is 'brevity.' Communication can be more convenient by ellipsis. Next will be 'informality.' Informality caused by ellipsis can make people express their thoughts and feelings fluently and naturally. It is the reason that spoken language has more frequently occurred ellipses than written language. The third function is 'quickness.' The same information can be delivered more quickly by the sentence using ellipsis than not using. In the 21st Century, ellipsis is misused in netizen communication owing to the quickness. The last function should be 'the effect of a literary style.' The effects can embody through ellipsis such as 'rhythm effect', 'letter style effect', 'translation style effect.' As a result of analyzing ellipsis of case markers, frequency follows the order below.[subjective objective > Locative > Dative > Commutative > Instrumental]

The typeface of the Shhnch 'ongjon woodblocks is unsophisticated and old-fashioned while at the same time having a tidiness and strength that give it its special appeal. This is the typeface used in publishing novPls for sale to the common people during the latter half of the Choson Dynasty_ Their demands could not be satisfied with most currently available literature. which was intended to suit the tastes of the official class. As a result of a development to overcome the unbalanced use of space characteristic of letterforms that followed the geometric principles of early Hangul. the typeface followed the refined. feminine "hrushstroke" style of kungch 'e. establishing itself as a "rough" face displaying the characteristics of carved. woodblock printing in answer to the needs of the common p-eople who had the greatest need of Hangul during the time of its f1owering. The Shhnch 'ongjon face is characterized by thin horizontal strokes. thick vertical strokes. and the appearance of being condensed left to right. They possess simple yet varied form. With these characteristics the Shimch' ongjon typeface. if revived and compared to other typefaces. has a beauty of structure and composition and a unique. modern lmage with excellent readability. giving it great significance for modern r langul typography.r langul typography.
