Keyboard for Virtual Reality Head Mounted Display using Electro-oculogram (EOG를 사용한 가상현실 HMD용 키보드 구현)

  • A keyboard system for hands-free virtual reality head mounted display using electrooculogram (EOG) signal which occurs during the eye-blinking is proposed. This system consists of display device, gyroscope sensor, gravity sensor and electro-encephalogram (EEG) sensor, and it is implemented with Unity3D engine for system control and graphic processing. If the input language of proposed keyboard system is Korean, i.e. Hangul, the Chonjiin keyboard method is utilized; but for the English spelling, numbers or special characters, $3{\times}4$ keyboard method is used in order to solve the spatial problem. By the implemented method, it can be verified that the user can handle the keyboard input of virtual reality head mounted display with only neck movement and EOG, instead of using hands.

  • In this paper, we proposed a set of ANSI-Korean character patterns for handwriting recognition that can be used as an input method of mobile computers like PDA (Personal Digital Assistant). In the case of bilinguals, two kinds of alphabets are written alternatively So the method of input character mode change must be provided, and this cause discomfort of writing. Our proposed written character patterns have some constraint but permit ANSI-Korean mixed writing without mode change keeping original form of alphabets and can be recognized with simple algorithm relatively. For ANSI character we analysis Graffiti and propose new writing pattern, which is more similar to original form. There are many researches about input method of unpacking Korean character and writing patterns. But they are not widely used because it's excessively contrary to original form of Korean characters. To show our proposed writing patterns usefulness, we studied the satisfaction and easiness of writing and the recognition rates. Writers are divided into two groups; PDA users, familiar to Graffiti, and others. The results satisfy usefulness in the both groups.

A Study on the Fractal Attractor Creation and Analysis of the Printed Korean Characters

  • Chaos theory is a study researching the irregular, unpredictable behavior of deterministic and non-linear dynamical system. The interpretation using Chaos makes us evaluate characteristic existing in status space of system by tine series, so that the extraction of Chaos characteristic understanding and those characteristics enables us to do high precision interpretation. Therefore, This paper propose the new method which is adopted in extracting character features and recognizing characters using the Chaos Theory. Firstly, it gets features of mesh feature, projection feature and cross distance feature from input character images. And their feature is converted into time series data. Then using the modified Henon system suggested in this paper, it gets last features of character image after calculating Box-counting dimension, Natural Measure, information bit and information dimension which are meant fractal dimension. Finally, character recognition is performed by statistically finding out the each information bit showing the minimum difference against the normalized pattern database. An experimental result shows 99% character classification rates for 2,350 Korean characters (Hangul) using proposed method in this paper.

  • 기존의 전화기 자판은 여러 번의 키 누름에 의해 입력해야 하는 숨겨진 자음과 모음의 배열 때문에 문자 입력에 많은 불편이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 보다 쉬운 한글 입력을 위해서 휴대용 전화기의 키패드(Keypad)에 대한 분산형 한글 자판 배열과 그 자판 배열을 이용해서 쉽게 한글 문자를 입력할 수 있는 사용자 중심의 대화형 방법을 제시한다. 모든 단자음과 단모음이 키에 나타나 보이도록 중복 할당시키고 입력하고자 하는 글자를 구성하는 자소를 필기순서에 따라 해당키를 한번씩만 눌러서 입력할 수 있도록 했다. 또한 복자음이나 복모음의 입력을 글자의 필기 순서와 동일하게 입력하도록 하여 사용자의 문자 입력에 대한 부담이 최소화 되도록 했다. 모의실험을 통하여 기존의 방식보다 입력에 필요한 키 동작의 횟수가 줄었음을 확인했다.

  • 제한된 휴대폰 자판에서 효율적인 한글 입력을 위한 방법으로서 본 논문에서는 고정적인 한글 자소의 버튼 배치를 하지 않고, 사용자가 입력하는 한글의 상태에 따라 동적으로 변하는 S/W 자판을 제안한다. 이와 동시에 방향키와 숫자키의 동시 사용 가능한 입력 방식을 제안함으로써 기존의 휴대폰 한글 입력 방식이 가지는 다양한 문제점을 해결하였다.

  • 고도 정보사회의 진전에 있어 정보의 수집, 정보의 전달 등을 위해, 여러 IT기기가 사용 되어지고 있다. 이러한 상황 속에서 IT기기를 장애자나 고령자를 포함, 누구나가 쉽게 이용 할 수 있도록 하는 유니버설디자인은 매우 중요한 일이다. 특히 상체부자유자의 인터페이스 장치로서 시선입력장치가 주목 받고 있다. 이러한 시대적인 흐름에서 본 연구에서는 Eye-gaze Interface를 이용한 시선입력만으로 컴퓨터상에서 한글입력이 가능한 한글 입력 시스템을 개발 제안한다. 또한 본 연구의 목적으로는 기존의 키보드, 마우스에 의한 입력장치와 Eye-gaze Interface를 이용한 입력 장치와의 정점과 단점을 비교 분석하고, 정보 사회에 있어서의 장애자와 고령자들의 Barrier Free에 관한 연구를 기본 목적으로 하고 있다 본 연구의 Eye-gaze Interface는 Eye Tech Digital System회사의 Quick Glance System를 사용한다 장애자와 고령자를 대상으로 한 사용자 평가 실험에 의해 실험을 진행 하였으며, 한글의 음운규칙에 관한 연구를 기초로 한글뿐만 아니라 영어, 일본어가 입력 가능한 입력 시스템을 제안한다. 이것은 컴퓨터 조작이 곤란한 장애자와 고령자가 일반인과의 자연스러운 커뮤니케이션이 가능하도록 한 것이다. 향후 Eye-gaze Interface를 이용한 응용분야 또한 게임, 영상, Eye Book, 자동차운전 둥 다양한 분야에 적용 가능하리라 기대된다.

  • 이동통신용 전화기의 숫자 자판에서 다수의 한글 자소가 한 개의 키에 할당되기 때문에 한글 입력에 많은 번거로움이 따른다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 번거로움을 최소화 하기위해서 모든 단자음과 단모음이 키에 모두 표시되도록 설계한 분산형 한글 자판 배열과 글자를 구성하는 자소를 필기순서에 따라 해당키를 한번씩만 눌러서 입력할 수 있도록 하는 사용자 중심의 새로운 한글 입력 방식을 제안한다. 다양한 실험을 통해서 제안된 방법이 기존의 방식들에 비해서 키누름 동작에 따르는 입력 효율이 높은 것을 확인했다.

A Study on Machine Printed Character Recognition Based on Character Type Classification (문자형식 분류 기반의 인쇄체 문자인식에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we propose machine printed character recognition methods which utilize the character type information and divide the character clusters. The characters are subdivided into a total of seven types, of which six types are for Hangul according to the grapheme combination fashions and one type for English characters, numerals, and symbols. According to the character type, we separate input character image into several recognition units and recognize them by using the direction angle feature. The recognition for each character type is completed by combining recognition units which are recognized by neural networks respectively For combining a total of seven character recognizers, we implemented seven methods such as switching method, integrating method, and their several variants. As experimental results, we obtained 98.2% recognition rate of simple switching method, 90.54% of integrating one, and between 97.35% and 98.65% of five variants.

  • The Compared to general sentences, the Equation uses a complex structure and various characters and symbols, so that it is not possible to input all the character sets by simply inputting a keyboard. Therefore, the editor is implemented in a text editor such as Hangul or Word. In order to express the Equation properly, it is necessary to have the learner information which can be meaningful to interpret the syntax. Even if a character is input, it can be represented by another expression depending on the relationship between the size and the position. In other words, the form of the expression is expressed as a tree model considering the relationship between characters and symbols such as the position and size to be expressed. As a field of character recognition application, a technique of recognizing characters or symbols(code) has been widely known, but a method of inputting and interpreting a Equation requires a more complicated analysis process than a general text. In this paper, we have implemented a Equation recognizer that recognizes characters in expressions and quickly analyzes the position and size of expressions.

A Study on Character Recognition using Wavelet Transformation and Moment (웨이브릿 변환과 모멘트를 이용한 문자인식에 관한 연구)

  • In this thesis, We studied on hand-written character recognition, that characters entered into a digital input device and remove noise and separating character elements using preprocessing. And processed character images has done thinning and 3-level wavelet transform for making normalized image and reducing image data. The structural method among the numerical Hangul recognition methods are suitable for recognition of printed or hand-written characters because it is usefull method deal with distortion. so that method are applied to separating elements and analysing texture. The results show that recognition by analysing texture is easily distinguished with respect to consonants. But hand-written characters are tend to decreasing successful recognition rate for the difficulty of extraction process of the starting point, of interconnection of each elements, of mis-recognition from vanishing at the thinning process, and complexity of character combinations. Some characters associated with the separation process is more complicated and sometime impossible to separating elements. However, analysis texture of the proposed character recognition with the exception of the complex handwritten is aware of the character.
