Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. fragariae (Fof), the causal agent of crown and root rot in strawberry, is the most serious soilborne disease of nursery plants in Korea. The possibility of infection by Fof through runner propagation from infected mother plants of strawberry cv. 'Kumhyang' was assessed in stolons and daughter plants hanging from raised beds. The number of daughter plants from an infected mother plant in plastic house and photosynthetic photon flux (PPF) system, 280 ${\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ was 2.7 and 3.8 plants after 58 days, respectively. However, healthy mother plants produced 6.5 and 8.4 daughter plants, respectively. The pathogen was detected in the uppermost portion of the stolon after 58 days, but was not detected further down the stolon. After 90 days, it was detected in all portions of the stolon between mother and $1^{st}$ daughter plant and in 60% of all $1^{st}$ daughter plants. The pathogen was not detected in the corresponding portions of the non-infected controls. These results show that infected mother plants can transmit Fof to their daughter plants without passing through the soil and $1^{st}$ daughter was used as mother plant in PPF system for propagating healthy plants.
Morphological variations of the Korean Oyster, Crassostrea gigas, were studied on the basis of the oyster samples collected from seven ecologically different areas in May and October of 1972 respectively. The sampling areas were Daecheon and Buan in the west coast, Namseong, Cha-myeon, Imyeong and Chubong in the south coast and Pohang in the east coast. The average sizes of the oysters of the west coast were smaller than those of the south coast as well as those of the east coast. The oysters of the east were largest in size, The oysters from subtidal habitats (Chubong and Pohang) had elongated shells and those from intertidal habitats (Buan, Namseong, Imyeong and Chamyeon) had slanted shells. The samples from subtidal habitats showed size variations depending on cultural methods applied. The oysters from Chubong reared by hanging method had their shells as compared to those from Pohang reared by bottom culture method. The ratio of shell height to shell length showed a great variation froms areas to areas with a significant differences. The fatness (meat weight / shell weight) of all the samples collected in October revealed higher value than those collected in May. The oysters from Chubong showed maximum fatness, and those of Pohang showed minimum fatness. Seasonal variations in fatness was not significant in Chubong. On the other hand, it was relatively significant in the oysters from Pohang, Chamyeon, Imyeong and Buan. Water content of the oyster meat was greater in October than in May. It also showed variations in the sampling areas with higher values in the oyster from Imyeong and Chamyeon than those from Chubong, Pohang and Daecheon.
The seedlings of the scallop, Patinopecten yessoensis, which were collected in April 1980, April 1981 and May 1981, and the grown-up scallops collected in the sea bottom in November 1979, were reared by hanging method up to the July 1981. The growth of the seedlings collected in April 1980 was greatly affected by the time of the seedling collection, manipulation of the net cage, density in the net cage and the annual water temperature fluctuation. The scallops reared from the spat collected in April 1980 reached the sizes of 0.33 mm, 1.23 mm, 29.34 mm and 59.59 mm in shell length in 40,75, 285 and 450 days respectively. Since then, growth rate was determined as follows based on the age estimated by the year rings on the shell:84.96mm in 19 months, 99.3mm in 31, 112.3mm in 37 and 113.64mm in 43 months. The meat and the adductor muscle weight increased with the shell length. The meat weight roached about 15g when the shell length was 60-70mm and about 94.13 g when 130-140mm, and the adductor muscle weight reached about 4.89 g when the shell length was 60-70 mm and about 39.59g when 120-130 mm. But the growths of the meat and the adductor muscle weight were in stagnancy after scallops reached 125 mm in shell length.

While numbers of apartment housing are continually rising in the domestic housing construction industry, apartment contractors are currently developing plane models, upgrading facilities, and relevant technology, and investing much efforts to meet the higher demands of consumers. However, the construction process of apartment housing involves the intricate properties of the construction industry such as materials, workforce, equipment, weather, and unpredictable situations. If any of these factors becomes discordant and results in interference and interruption of the construction process, then defects, both functional and aesthetic, are likely to occur due to errors in the plan of industry organizers and constructors. Therefore, this research identifies the types of defects in an apartment construction project and analyzes their relative importance. Firstly, this research reviews the previous research trends and will reduce the needs of this research. Afterward, defect repair costs corresponding to the different defect types are calculated by applying results of the research and performing frequency analysis on defect types included in 'Tenant preliminary research' on apartments constructed by Company A. As a result of analyzing the importance of defect type, the top six activities, including tile, floor, paper hanging, PL window, cabinetry, and kitchen cabinet, are found to be of high importance, and the top six activities in question need of repair and management of defects first. The results of this study will help establish a plan to initially respond to such problems as refusal to move in and filing a defect suit against delay in repairing defects.
Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa Duch.), a herbaceous perennial crop, is a popular fruit crop with high economical and nutritive values. This study was conducted to investigate the effect of the runner training angle (RTA) on the length of internodes and number of runners produced in strawberry 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang' in an attempt to achieve a higher production rate of runner plants and increase the propagation efficiency. Runners were trained for 30 days to grow at an angle of 0° (vertically upward), 45°, 90° (horizontal), 135°, or 180° (hanging down) from the upward vertical axis. The experiment was carried out in a glasshouse with 29/20℃ day/night temperatures, an average light intensity of 450 μmol·m-2·s-1 PPFD coming from the sun, and a natural photoperiod of 12 hours. For both 'Seolhyang' and 'Maehyang', the RTA affected number and length of runners, and number and fresh and dry weights of runner plants. Training at an angle of 135° or 180° shortened length of runners and internodes in 'Seolhyang'. These RTAs also produced runner plants with the lowest fresh and dry weights in both cultivars. The RTA did not affect the runner diameter, but affected the runner morphology in both cultivars. As compared to a RTA of 135°, a 180° RTA increased number of runner plants produced, making it the most proliferative RTA.

We studied that the effects of mesh size and material of cages on the growth of C. farreri (initial shell height 38.6 mm and shell total weight 7.2 g) held in suspension cage from September 2005 to October 2006. The experiment was performed with two mesh sizes (1 cm and 2 cm) and two materials (net and plastic) of cages in same densities. After 13 months from culture beginning, ranges of shell height and total weight were from 69.7 mm to 73.9 mm and from 36.1 g to 47.0 g, respectively. The survival rate was from 93% to 100%, respectively. The growth rates of the scallop were positively correlated with the mesh size. In the growth rate according to culture material, the growth of scallop in the plastic cage was faster than that in the net cage from September 2005 to June 2006, but the growth in the plastic was slower than that in the net cage for obstruction by attaching organisms from June to October 2006.

Background: The "gold standard" for proper epidural catheter positioning is a clinical response, as assessed by a pinprick test. Yet it may take time or it may be difficult to perform this test after epidural catheter placement in sedated or uncooperative patients or during general anesthesia. We assessed the usefulness of aspirating injected air via an epidural catheter as an indicator of correct epidural catheter placement. Methods: We surveyed 200 patients who underwent surgery under general or epidural anesthesia. A Tuohy needle was inserted into the epidural space with using the hanging drop technique. After placement of the epidural catheter, 3 ml of air was injected via the catheter, and then the volume of aspirated air was measured. Results: The mean volume of aspirated air was $2.3{\pm}0.7ml$ (75% of the injected air volume) and this ranged from 0 to 3 ml. Conclusions: Aspiration of injected air is a simple alternative method for identifying the appropriate placement of epidural catheters in the epidural space.
A study on the purification of the surf clam Mactra Sulcataria REEVE for the remove of sand and fecal piles was conducted in the laboratory. The sand was mostly distributed around the inhalent and exhalent siphon, mantle and gill, and were also distributed in the digestive tract including the mid-gut gland. The sand particles in the digestive tract were extremely small and their sizes were about $180\times10\mu\;to\;550\times200\mu$. It could be seen that there was little, if any, difference in the rate of sand removal when either the hanging Purification method was used or the method of laying the surf clams in thick or thin layers on the bottom of the experimental vessel was used. The surf clam removed about $50\%$ of its sand during the first hour of purification. The weight of the removed sand and fecal piles on a dry basis reached a constant value after 22 to 26 hours of purification. After 42 hours of Purification, no sand could be seen in the fecal piles. The surf clam removed the sand in its body more rapidly when it was in sea water with the pH of 8.75 than when it was in natural sea water. Also high temperature had a much greater depressing effect upon the removal of sand In the surf clam than did natural sea water. Also low salinity had greater accelerating effect upon the removal of sand in the body than did natural sea water. However the surf clam died when the salinity was $8.19\%_{\circ}$.
Various types of shearing devices which may be a substitute for the conventional beams in stow nets were considered, and then tentatively named "the zonal canvas type of stow net" having the shearing device made of zonal canvas was devised. A 1/3 model of the net was made and experimented at sea. Converted to the full scale, the measured water resistance R(kg) of the net was given by $R=5.6{\times}10^{3}V^{l.5}$ or $R=3.5\frac{d}{l}{\lambda}_b{\lambda}_l\;V^{1.5}$, where V is the water velocity (m/sec), d the diameter of netting bars, l the length of the bars, ${\lambda}_b$ the stretched circumference of net mouth (m), ${\lambda}_l$ the length of net stretched. The net height kept about $83\%$ of the side rope length regardless of the variation of V and the net breadth kept a value over $90\%$ of the head rope length until V reached 1 m/sec. These results were very successful according to expectation, but the conventional netting was requested a further improvement. Therefore, the netting was newly designed to have smaller size of meshes in the vicinity of net mouth and larger hanging ratio breadthwise. With the netting a full scale net was made and experimented by a stern trawler. The experiment gave a net breadth over $95\%$ of the head rope length until V reached 1m/sec and showed no faults in the net. But the net operation by the stern trawler was ascribed an inconvenience to its narrow breadth of stern slip way.
Visitors to Naejangsan National Park were surveyed from October 31 to November 3 in 1995, 151 visitors were participated. Of those individuals, 55% were males. 48% of respondests reported that they had gone beyond high school, and over one-half(52%) had gone as far as college. 61.3% were 20 years of age. The largest percentage of respondents were reported that they visited Naejangsan Nat'l Park to see the scarlet maple leaces there. Most respondents who witness other visitors' littering were not likely to intervene to stop their visitors' depreciative behavior(Bystander intervention Begavior). Most of visitors got information for use Naejangsan Nat'l Park from a guide sign(31.8%) or guide themselves(29.1%). They didn't know the Clean-up Time Movement Program. But they understood it after notice hanging placards(81.6%). Most of visitors responded that didn't hear the mass communication program in National. But they recognized necessity of the mass communication program in National Park. The results showed that most visitors believed that Clean-up Time Movement was in succession consequently it turned out to be effective in managing visitors' littering behavior. And it seemed to effective in managing depreciative behavior through the mass communication program in National Park.
