There is strong demand to create wearable PC systems that can support the user outdoors. When we are outdoors, our movement makes it impossible to use traditional input devices such as keyboards and mice. We propose a hand gesture interface based on image processing to operate wearable PCs. The semi-transparent PC screen is displayed on the head mount display (HMD), and the user makes hand gestures to select icons on the screen. The user's hand is extracted from the images captured by a color camera mounted above the HMD. Since skin color can vary widely due to outdoor lighting effects, a key problem is accurately discrimination the hand from the background. The proposed method does not assume any fixed skin color space. First, the image is divided into blocks and blocks with similar average color are linked. Contiguous regions are then subjected to hand recognition. Blocks on the edges of the hand region are subdivided for more accurate finger discrimination. A change in hand shape is recognized as hand movement. Our current input interface associates a hand grasp with a mouse click. Tests on a prototype system confirm that the proposed method recognizes hand gestures accurately at high speed. We intend to develop a wider range of recognizable gestures.
The purpose of this study is to look into dressing practices at the Woinarodo region in terms of ordinary and ritual clothes. Men wore Bqji(trousers) and Jeokori(jackets) as their plain clothes and sometimes Jangsam mid Durumaki(topcoat). During the period of Japanese colony, men wore Western-style clothes. For women it was basic to wear Chima(skirts) and Jeokori. And they preferred Momppe rather when in Japanese rule. In arrangements for their head, men put on gut, and had their hair cut during Japanese nile. Women laid a bundle of their braided hairs on the head or braided their hair, while married women did their hair up in a chignon during the ruling period People of the region put on straw and leather shoes, and then rubber ones since the late 1930s. Hand weaving was a major means of living for women at the region. Ramie, hemp and cotton were mainly weaved by hand. Starching was applied mainly to ramie and cotton. Glues for starching were made of raw rices, cooked rices, wheat flour or gloiopeltis tenax. For ritual clothes, especially in wedding, bridegrooms arranged themselves with Samokwandae and then Put on Baji, Jeokori, Durumaki and Danryung. But they Put on Western-style dresses as the liners of Danryung, and wear Nambawi Rather than the Samo after korean independence from Japanese rule. Bridges wore Chima, Jeokori and Wonsam and Chokdoori and covered their face with Hansam Wonsam did not be worn any longer after Korean independence from the rule. Shrouds for funeral ceremony were manufactured with silks, cotton and hemp, when the chief mourner wore hempen hoods and funeral robes, while women, Chima, made of hemp. and any type of Jeokori.

In this paper, it presents to detect location using structural information of hand from the input color images on Webcam and to recognize hand gestures. In this system, based on the skin color, the image changes a binary number and labels. Within each labeled area, we can find the Maximum Inscribed Circle using Voronoi Diagram. This circle can find the center of hand. And the circle extracts hand region from analyzing the ellipse elements to relate Maximum Inscribed Circle. We use the Maximum Inscribed Circle and the ellipse elements as characteristic of hand gesture recognition. In various environments, we cannot recognize the object that have similar colors like the background colors. But the proposed algorithm has the advantage that can be effectively eliminated about it.

The Russian Far East Region covers an area of 6 Million and 216 thousands km2 and it is as vast as 36% of the Russan Federation on one hand. And this region also exists in a very severe climate condition as 90% of the region is covered with permanently frozen land on the other. This vast region has many of the world's richest natural resources : woods, fish, non-metals, energy resources, and other. The Russian Far East Region is prompts to participate in the world economy, specifically Asian and other Parcific Natiops along with the recent changes in the national structure of Russia. Although the transition to market economy and foreign investment in Russia is not sufficient, the time has come for us to actively promote technological exchanges with Korean and Russian Far East Region which are of our prosopective neighboring countries and seek for mutural relationships with us.

This paper presents a intuitive, simple and easy smart home TV remote control system using the hand gesture recognition. Hand candidate regions are detected by cascading policy of the part of human anatomy on the disparity map image, Exact hand region is extracted by the graph-cuts algorithm using the skin color information. Hand postures are represented by shape features which are extracted by a simple shape extraction method. We use the forward spotting accumulative HMMs for a smart home TV remote control system. Experimental results show that the proposed system has a good recognition rate of 97.33 % for TV remote control in real-time.
GUI(graphical user interface) has been the dominant platform for HCI(human computer interaction). The GUI-based style of interaction has made computers simpler and easier to use. However GUI will not easily support the range of interaction necessary to meet users' needs that are natural, intuitive, and adaptive. In this paper we study an approach to track a hand in an image sequence and recognize it, in each video frame for replacing the mouse as a pointing device to virtual reality. An algorithm for real time processing is proposed by estimating of the position of the hand and segmentation, considering the orientation of motion and color distribution of hand region.
Front-projection type displays make it difficult to apply traditional skin color detection for human hand because the projected beam not only reaches to the screen but also to the user's hand. This paper solves this problem by modeling the distortion between original image and its final camera input. Our approach improves hand detection rate by modeling of interference effect among color channels and of intra-frame intensity and also by introducing adaptive threshold for color difference in skin region.
The aim of this paper is to present the methodology for hand tracking and hand gesture recognition. The detected hand and gesture can be used to implement the non-contact mouse. We had developed a MP3 player using this technology controlling the computer instead of mouse. In this algorithm, we first do a pre-processing to every frame which including lighting compensation and background filtration to reducing the adverse impact on correctness of hand tracking and hand gesture recognition. Secondly, YCbCr skin-color likelihood algorithm is used to detecting the hand area. Then, we used Continuously Adaptive Mean Shift (CAMSHIFT) algorithm to tracking hand. As the formula-based region of interest is square, the hand is closer to rectangular. We have improved the formula of the search window to get a much suitable search window for hand. And then, Support Vector Machines (SVM) algorithm is used for hand gesture recognition. For training the system, we collected 1500 hand gesture pictures of 5 hand gestures. Finally we have performed extensive experiment on a Windows XP system to evaluate the efficiency of the proposed scheme. The hand tracking correct rate is 96% and the hand gestures average correct rate is 95%.

The use of hand gesture provides an attractive alternative to cumbersome interface devices for human-computer interaction(HCI). Many methods hand gesture recognition using visual analysis have been proposed such as syntactical analysis, neural network(NN), Hidden Markov Model(HMM) and so on. In our research, a HMMs is proposed for alphabetical hand gesture recognition. In the preprocessing stage, the proposed approach consists of three different procedures for hand localization, hand tracking and gesture spotting. The hand location procedure detects the candidated regions on the basis of skin-color and motion in an image by using a color histogram matching and time-varying edge difference techniques. The hand tracking algorithm finds the centroid of a moving hand region, connect those centroids, and thus, produces a trajectory. The spotting a feature database, the proposed approach use the mesh feature code for codebook of HMM. In our experiments, 1300 alphabetical and 1300 untrained gestures are used for training and testing, respectively. Those experimental results demonstrate that the proposed approach yields a higher and satisfying recognition rate for the images with different sizes, shapes and skew angles.
In this paper, we introduce non-touch style interface system technology without any touch style controlling mechanism, which is called as "Air-interface". To develop this system, we used the full reflection principle of infrared (IR) light and then user's hand is separated from the background with the obtained image at every frame. The segmented hand region at every frame is used as input data for an hand-motion recognition module, and the hand-motion recognition module performs a suitable control event that has been mapped into the specified hand-motion through verifying the hand-motion. In this paper, we introduce some developed and suggested methods for image processing and hand-motion recognition. The developed air-touch technology will be very useful for advertizement panel, entertainment presentation system, kiosk system and so many applications.
