Effect of Dark Matter on the Collision of High Velocity Clouds with the Galactic Disk

  • High velocity clouds (HVCs) are H I clouds that move with large speed (${\mid}V_{LSR}{\mid}$ >100 km/s) in the halo of the Milky Way. It is now evident that at least some populations of HVCs originated from extragalactic sources, either primordial gas left over from the galaxy formation or gaseous material stripped off from other galaxies closely passing by the Milky Way. HVCs with extragalactic origin play an important role in the star formation of the Milky Way when they eventually collide with the disk of the Milky Way. Although it is still observationally controversial whether HVCs are surrounded by dark matter or not, it is theoretically interesting to investigate the effect of dark matter on the collision of HVCs with the disk of the Milky Way. We model this scenario by using hydrodynamic simulations and search for proper parameters that explain the currently available observations such as the Smith Cloud that is thought to have collided with the Galactic disk already.

중력렌즈 사건의 측성적 시차효과 검출에 대한 연구 (Astrometric Detectability of Parallax Effect in Gravitational Microlensing Events)

  • The lens mass determined from the photometrically obtained Einstein time scale suffers from large uncertainty due to the lens parameter degeneracy. The uncertainty can be substantially reduced if the mass is determined from the lens proper motion obtained from astrometric measurements of the source image centroid shifts, ${\delta}{\theta}_c$, by using high precision interferometers from space-based platform such as the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM), and ground-based interferometers soon available on several 8-10m class telescopes. However, for the complete resolution of the lens parameter degeneracy it is required to determine the lens parallax by measuring the parallax-induced deviations in the centroid shifts trajectory, ${\Delta}{\delta}{\theta}_c$ aloe. In this paper, we investigate the detectabilities of ${\delta}{\theta}_c$ and ${\Delta}{\delta}{\theta}_c$ by determining the distributions of the maximum centroid shifts, $f({\delta}{\theta}_{c,max})$, and the average maximum deviations, $(<{\Delta}{\delta}_{c,max}>)$, for different types of Galactic microlensing events caused by various masses. From this investigation, we find that as long as source stars are bright enough for astrometric observations it is expected that $f({\delta}{\theta}_c)$ for most events caused by lenses with masses greater than 0.1 $M_\bigodot$ regardless of the event types can be easily detected from observations by using not only the SIM (with a detection threshold but also the ${\delta}{\theta}_{th}\;\~3{\mu}as)$ but also the ground-based interferometers $(with\;{\delta}{\theta}_{th}\;\~3{\mu}as)$. However, from ground-based observations, it will be difficult to detect ${\Delta}{\delta}{\theta}_c$ for most Galactic bulge self-lensing events, and the detection will be restricted only for small fractions of disk-bulge and halo-LMC events for which the deviations are relatively large. From observations by using the SIM, on the other hand, detecting ${\Delta}{\delta}{\theta}_c$ will be possible for majority of disk and halo events and for a substantial fraction of bulge self-lensing events. For the complete resolution of the lens parameter degeneracy, therefore, SIM observations will be essential.

Pseudomonas otitidis PS 균주의 항생물질 생산과 작용 기작 (Antibiotic Production of Pseudomonas otitidis PS and Mode of Action)

  • Gram 양성세균의 생육을 억제하는 세균을 청주시 무심천 토양에서 분리하였으며, 16S rRNA 유전자 염기서열 분석 결과 Pseudomonas otitidis PS로 동정하였다. PS 균주는 0.5%의 glucose가 포함된 1% soybean meal 배지에서 2차 대사 산물로서 최대 약 0.1%의 수율로 항생물질을 생산하였다. 항생물질 성분은 ethyl acetate로 추출하였으며, Staphylococcus aureus KCTC 1261에 대한 minimum inhibitory concentration은 $2{\mu}g/ml$이었다. 이 성분은 siderophore 활성을 띠어서 chrome azurol S 평판배지에서 주황색 halo를 나타내었으며, 철이 제거되면 생육 억제 효과는 감소하였다. Ascorbic acid 같은 환원제를 첨가하거나 혐기적 환경에서는 항생물질 활성을 잃으므로 PS 항생물질은 활성산소를 방출하여 bactericidal activity를 갖는 것으로 보인다.

픽셀 기반 Joint BDCP와 계층적 양방향 필터를 적용한 단일 영상 기반 안개 제거 기법 (Single Image Haze Removal Technique via Pixel-based Joint BDCP and Hierarchical Bilateral Filter)

  • 본 논문에서는 픽셀 기반 joint BDCP (bright and dark channel prior)와 계층적 양방향 필터를 적용하여 저 복잡도를 갖는 단일 영상 기반 안개 제거 기법을 제안한다. 픽셀 기반 joint BDCP는 기존의 패치 기반 DCP에 비해 연산량을 감소시키고, 픽셀 단위의 안개값 예측을 가능하게 하여 전달량 추정의 정확성을 높인다. 또한 에지를 보존하면서 평탄화 성능이 우수한 양방향 필터를 사용하여 전달량을 정련함으로써 후광 효과(halo effect)를 줄이고, 에지 성분에 대한 계층적 적용을 통해 반복 적용에 의한 연산량의 증가를 방지한다. 안개 성분이 포함된 다양한 영상에 대해 수행한 실험 결과는 제안하는 기법이 기존의 기법에 비해 우수한 안개 제거 성능을 보이면서 저 복잡도로 실행되어 다양한 분야에 응용될 수 있음을 나타낸다.

  • The purpose of this study was 1) to investigate the effect of male clothing type and facial attractiveness on the subjects' inferences of occupation for the wearers, 2) to investigate the effect of male clothing type on the inferences of occupational characteristics. The stimuli were composed of 24 color photographs which were made of 6 types of clothing and 18 wearers who were made of 3 levels of facial attractiveness in combination with 6 types of clothing. The subjects were 288 male and 288 female university students. The subjects chose an occupation among 19 occupations presented for 6 types of clothing and the wearers. Also the subjects' inferences of occupational characteristics for the clothing were measured by semantic\ulcornerdiffenential scales. The results were as follows: 1) As a whole, the infered occupation for each of the clothing types was consistent with the expected occupations in this study. "Therefore there were stereotypes about male clothing type. At the same time, the halo effect of facial attractiveness appeared when subjects infered wearer's occupation. 2) The subjects' responses to the semantic-differential scales about 6 types of clothing were factor analyzed to identify the underlying constructs of occupational characteristics. At the result, 4 factors were emerged. The first factor was interpreted to Apperance/ Ability, the second, Indi~iduality, the third, Naivety, and the fourth, Dominancy. 3) The male clothing type influenced on the 3 factors except the Dominancy factor.nancy factor.

Color Image Enhancement Using a Retinex Algorithm with Bilateral Filtering for Images with Poor Illumination

  • Color enhancement basically deals with color manipulation in digital images. Recently, the technique has become widely used as a result of the increasing use of digital cameras. Retinex-based colorenhancement algorithms are a popular technique. In this paper, retinex with bilateral filtering is proposed to improve the quality of poorly illuminated images. Generally, it consists of three main steps: first, a retinex-based algorithm with color restoration; second, transformation mapping using histogram matching; and finally, smoothing the image using a bilateral filter. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method can successfully enhance image contrast while avoiding the halo effect and maintaining the color distribution in the image.

행동기관으로서 발의 보온 및 항균방취에 대한 연구 (Research on warmth-keeping, anti-bacteria and deodorant treatment for feet, the active organ of human body)

  • Researches were made on foot-warming, anti-bacteria and deodorant treatment. Feet, the very important organ to human body, perspire much and their temperature is lower than those of other parts. Hence, keeping feet warm, sanitary and deodorant is the area of this study. Latex sponge of activated carbon, impregnated open cell foam, treated with Vikol DZ-anti-bacteria finishing agent, was developed and tested for warmth-keeping by KSK 0560 test method and for sanitization by AATCC 90 HALO test method and for deodorization by wearing tests. The results show that the new developed latex spongee has warmth-keeping ratio of 2.5 times higher than that of the conventional spong and it has an excellent anti-bacteria effect. Actual wearing function tests also show that it improves significantly the performance of deodorization, sanitization, warmth-keeping and bulkiness.

치과용 시멘트의 항미생물 작용 (Antimicrobial Action of Dental Cements)

  • The antimicrobial action of various dental cements evaluated against common micro-organisms most frequenty found within the components of the normal bacterial flora of oral cavity. They include Streptococcus mutans (2 strains), Lactobacillus acidophilus, Actinomyces viscosus, and Streptococcus sanguis. The test was done by the use of brain heart infusion (BHI) agar plates. A standard mix of each cement was made and placed on the plates which were seeded with a standard culture of microorganisms. After incubation, the halo of bacterial growth inhibition around the cement was identified and its size was measured. Some of the cements tested had obvious antibacterial effect. The cements listed in decreasing order of effectiveness are 1) zinc phosphate and oxyphosphate, 2) silicate, 3) zinc oxide-eugenol, 4) calcium hydroxide, and 5) carboxylate.

Endochitinase와 Chitobiosidase 유전자의 동시발현에 의한 키틴분해 활성의 증가 (Enhancement of chitinolytic activity of by co-expression of endochitinase and chitobiosidase genes)

  • Chitinolytic activity was enhanced by coexpression of endo-chitinase gene (chiA) and chitobiosidase gene (chiB) from Serratia marcescens KFRI314 using constitutive expression vector, pHCEIA, in E. coli. Coexpression vector was constructed by inserting ribosome binding site (RBS) into junction between two chitinase genes. SDS-PAGE analyses showed that two chitinase were constitutively expressed while E. coli clones expressing two chitinases simultaneously increased halo size on colloidal chitin plate. Furthermore, the chitinolytic activities were much enhanced in coexpressed clones when degradation patterns of substrate analogues such as 4-MU-(NAG), $4-MU-(NAG)_2$,$4-MU-(NAG)_3$ were used. Consequently, the combined use of endochitinase and chitobiosidase greatly increased overall chitinolytic activities on recombinant E. coli clones.

국가이미지와 기업브랜드이미지가 제품이미지 및 구매의도에 미치는 영향에 대한 연구 -한.중 교역을 중심으로- (A Study on the Impact of National Image and Corporation Brand Image on Product Image and Customer's Purchasing Intention)

  • The purpose of this study was to clarify the impact of national and corporate brand image of Korea on chinese consumers' purchasing Intention, also the impact of China on korean consumers' purchasing Intention. And the second aim of the research is to provide Korean businessmen who are interested in chinese market with information about chinese consumers' purchasing behaviour. Data from 205 chinese and korean consumers were analysed. As the result of analyses, it was found that Korean country image positive affects corporate brand image(samsung) and Chinese country image negative affects corporate brand image(haier) and product image. Korean corporate brand image only affects product image on chinese consumers. The product image affects Korean and Chinese consumer's purchasing intention.
