SURF based Hair Matching and VR Hair Cutting

  • Hair styling has a significant influence on human social perception. An increasing number of people are learning hair styling and obtaining hair designer licenses. However, it takes a considerable amount of money and time to learn professional hairstyle and beauty techniques for hair styling. Since COVID-19, there has been a growing need for offline and video lectures due to the decline in onsite training opportunities. This study provides a field practice environment in which real hair beauty is performed in a virtual space. Further, the hairstyle that is most similar to the user's hair taken with a webcam or mobile phone is determined through an image matching system using the speeded up robust features (SURF) method. The matching hairstyle was created into a three-dimensional (3D) hair model. The created 3D hair model uses a head-mounted display (HMD) and a controller that enables finger tracking through mapping to reproduce the haircutting scissors' motion while providing a feeling of real hair beauty.

The Costume of Kucha (쿠차(龜玆)의 복식)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate relation between kucha and Korea by comparing costume. The results are as follows. First, During 508th century, wall paintings of Kizil and Kuizilkargha showed traditional costume such as cutting hair , lapel coller and fitting sleeve coat, pants, boots , belts and knife. Kumtura were also in 6 th, but under the influence of China and Hoehol (회골) after 7th. Second, Men and women cutting hair except king, they put on cone shaped hat and Kun (건), clothing were made of felt and kun(면). Third, it was influenced by Iran that cutting hair in Silla (신라) and Kucha. In Silla , round neckline and V neckline were existed except lapel collar. Jeweled knife of Silla and Kuncha , pattern of Kumdonglee(금동복) showed cultural exchange of centural Asia and Korea along the Silk Rood. It is conscious that Silla preferred centural asia of texture and jewels by prohibition of costume.

  • The morphological characteristics of the cut sections of hair using razor, clipper and scissors were investigated with scanning electron microscopy. With the razor, the cutting section had a long elliptical form and a rhythmical ribbon shape. It was curved outward since the end part of it became thinner. With the scissors, the cutting section had a flat, circular form. It seemed to be because the scissors imposed a constant strength on the hair. With the clipper, the cutting section had also a circular form but a layer of the macrofibril was generated in the middle part of the cortex. It seemed to be generated while the rapidly moving blades of the clipper cut the hair in an instant.

  • With the recent advent of the New Normal era, realistic technologies and non-contact technologies are receiving social attention. However, the hair styling field focuses on the direction of the hair itself, individual movements, and modeling, focusing on hair simulation. In order to create an improved practice environment and demand of the times, this study proposed a non-contact hair styling VR system. In the theoretical review, we studied the existing cases of hair cut research. Existing haircut-related research tend to be mainly focused on force-based feedback. Research on the interactive haircut work in the virtual environment as addressed in this paper has not been done yet. VR controllers capable of finger tracking the movements necessary for beauty enable selection, cutting, and rotation of beauty tools, and built a non-contact collaboration environment. As a result, we conducted two experiments for interactive hair cutting in VR. First, it is a haircut operation for synchronization using finger tracking and holding hook animation. We made position correction for accurate motion. Second, it is a real-time interactive cutting operation in a multi-user virtual collaboration environment. This made it possible for instructors and learners to communicate with each other through VR HMD built-in microphones and Photon Voice in non-contact situations.

  • This study aims to develop hair cutter with zirconia($ZrO_2$) material whose machinability, corrosion resistance, wear resistance and bio-compatibility are excellent by comparing iron hair cutter. Ultra-thin zirconia cutter with the thickness of 0.253mm is manufactured through the optimization of design, molding, sintering, grinding and grinding process. With observation result of cutter specimen by use of scanning electron microscope(SEM), formability and process of cutting face are shown to be good. It is also evaluated with sufficient merchantability by cutting test results. The cutter process technology of thin zirconia can be utilized at the development of high value-added beauty appliances like razor, beauty-razor and eye brows-razor for woman by use of study result.

  • This paper suggests the system for searching and application is to be in combination between existing hair art area and Image/Video processing area. This proposed system usually saves various hair types into a database, then, users send images of their face over the internet by using WebCam. Finally, they can find the hair types for users. Hair cutting is technology that form draft to make hair style. Man cut must decide how in image of sinciput, image of side bean curd, after lower image must operate. Silhouette is produced as is different by change of this three places. Customer increases in the beauty salon and beauty salon chain being changed, research about beauty art is necessary point of time. In this treatise, our country of when swim and operate haircut about problem that happen sample survey and analysis.

  • Hair cut is one of the best useful technical tool for hair styling. In this study using the rule of the layers of hair design, balanced for visual art, perceptual ability and form created by the principles of analysis and offer hair cuts and hair design of the representation of regions and even hair design as the basis of a student of Hair Beauty and all the people working in the field can create a variety of hair design puts the purpose to establish a basis.   • Recently, Google MedeiaPipe presents a novel approach for neural network-based hair segmentation from a single camera input specifically designed for real-time, mobile application. Though neural network related to hair segmentation is relatively small size, it produces a high-quality hair segmentation mask that is well suited for AR effects such as a realistic hair recoloring. However, it has undesirable segmentation effects according to hair styles or in case of containing noises and holes. In this study, the energy function of the test image is constructed according to the estimated prior distributions of hair location and hair color likelihood function. It is further optimized according to graph cuts algorithm and initial hair region is obtained. Finally, clustering algorithm and image post-processing techniques are applied to the initial hair region so that the final hair region can be segmented precisely. The proposed method is applied to MediaPipe hair segmentation pipeline.

An Analysis of Hair Renderings in Reference to Entertainers' Hair Styles - Focused on Byeon Jeong-su's Hair Styles- (연예인 헤어스타일에 근거한 헤어연출 분석 -변정수 헤어스타일을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze entertainer Byeon Jeong-su's hair styles and thereby, apply the results to models. For the applications, models' hair styles were bisected into two sections, and thereby, the edges of the outsides were cut into solid points, and thereupon, into diverse bases by using vertical section, Perpendicular direction and square angles. On the other hand, the insides were cut in the same way of the outside bases by using radial section, varied combing and $45{\sim}90$ degree head angles. In addition, tops and sides were arranged in their corners, while a graduation technique was used to express a natural difference of levels. The fringes were cut by using free-hand and slicing techniques. furthermore, the quantity and mass of the hairs were treated with such techniques as thinning, swing, effect, rolling, slide and slicing, while a bridge product was used for coloring together with a highlight technique. The hair styles were rendered for straight and wave by using an magic iron machine. It was confirmed through this study that the same cutting techniques would result in different images depending on individuals' physical shapes, facial shapes, head skeletons and types of hairs. Thus, it is required of the hair designers to suggest their own custom hair designs adequate to individuals' images through continued image-wise hair design practices.

  • The purpose of this study is to review the innovation of Vidal Sassoon's hair design. His hair styling was created in 1950-60, and it was related to the Zeitgeist, 'Convulsion'. It was aesthetic reform that eliminated artificially of headdress through new design concept and high technique. It was social renovation that changed women's life through freedom, ease and mobility of hair form. Also, it was scientific innovation that emphasized improvement of hair care. Therefore this researcher set a high value on his contribution in beauty industry, and studied the formative characteristics of his hair styling. The results are as follows: The formative characteristics are classified into the simplicity of form, the mobility of construction, and the variety of color and texture. 1. The simplicity of form showed through geometric form. Vidal Sassoon's hair design had the overthrow traditional concept of femininity and beauty; in addition, it conferred freedom on not only hair itself but also women's action. 2. The naturalism and mobility of construction was found in layered and softly swinging hair made up by skillful cutting technique. It was developed by studying on the dynamism of sports in 1984 LA Olympic games. 3. The variety of color and texture showed conspicuously its visual evidence because of the simplicity of form. Especially, he borrowed factors of fine art, that is to say, form, space, texture, line, color and light, and created a performance art. His work is analyzed into an art, and he is one of the best artists.
